I'd recommend this place, but it's difficult to separate the event, several old friends reconnecting, from the food and service. That said, we had a great evening. We literally closed the place down. Our reservations were for 6:00 PM on a Wednesday and we didn't leave until they started to turn the lights out! We ordered two appetizers, the Fresh Guacamole and Chips and the Baked Brie, which I don't see on the online menu, which came with sliced apple, walnuts and artisan crackers. The guac was pretty good, but it had shredded cheese in it, which confused me a bit. The baked brie was very melty and delicious and went well with the crackers, apples and walnuts. Everyone at the table ordered drinks. They looked quite delicious and I believe everyone had a second; that's a good sign. I only had water so can't comment on the drink menu. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. I'll just comment on mine with the exception of mentioning someone ordered a pizza and it was huge! Most definitely more than one person could eat. I ordered the Seafood Enchilada. Everything on the menu sounds really good, but I got stuck on this and couldn't pass it up. When it was delivered to the table very hot, it was very tasty. The description say it has shrimp, crap and salmon. There were two shrimp on top and there was a fair amount of salmon inside the enchilada. I didn't notice the crab. There was also a lot of spinach. Now... I like spinach and I'm not complaining, but I wasn't expecting it and it seemed like the main ingredient. The flavor was good served hot, but I could only eat half of the meal. The leftovers, which I ate later that night, didn't maintain that flavor. If you order this, don't fill up on appetizers and eat it while you're in the restaurant. You'll most likely enjoy it. The service was good, which is contrary to a lot of the reviews on here. I did think it was interesting they lead with drink menus when one arrives... not a food menu in sight. It's not until we placed drink orders they brought out the food menus. I thought that was odd. We were there on a Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM. The place was busy. I can say it's a popular place and I recommend giving it a try. I don't live in Omaha. I'm glad the group suggested Finicky Franks to meet. I enjoyed the meal and the company. I checked the website to see if Finicky Franks would be open. Noticed they posted previously on days they would be closed that went against normal hours. I felt confident to travel in 2022 without calling ahead since reservations are not required and they showed the ability to use a website to update hours. I'm 40 minutes away, maybe that was short sighted. On a Tuesday during normal business hours, not posted to their website they were in fact closed. Closed. I heard about the Thursday night Walleye special and had to try it. I was really surprised at everything in this restaurant. First off, the Walleye special comes with cole slaw and Yukon potatoes. I was skeptical, but thought I'd try the cole slaw first to cleanse the delicious Draft IPA. OMG I couldn't stop! The cole slaw was a great mixture of veggies married with delicious sauce! Most slaws are very generic and run-of-the-mill. This was so much more. I wish it was sold by the pint so I could take some home! I sampled the potatoes, but it was time to try the Walleye while it was still hot. My first bite was a little confusing - I grew up fishing for Walleye (and other fish) year-round. I wanted this Walleye to taste so good, I was treating it like evaluating a fine wine. The first bite went in; I felt the texture and tasted the flavors. Hmmm. Not sure yet.... then it hit me right as I was about to swallow. All my memories of Walleye meals growing up were like a tsunami of mouth-feel and a rush of goodness! This Walleye was firm, not greasy, and cooked perfectly. The potatoes (and onions) were a perfect compliment, and don't forget the amazing cole slaw! If you like fish (of any kind), you've got to stop in for the Thursday night Walleye special! I saw neighboring tables ordering it grilled - not fried. I'm sure that style was just as good. The dessert menu is not on the restaurant's menu. That's because it revolves around the homemade (in house-made) ice cream! Try the Sopapilla, or just anything. We went for the Saturday night pan fried chicken dinner served family style. We had reservations for 4, and were seated immediately. Three out of four in our group ordered the chicken dinners, and the other ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich. While I'm told the sandwich was good, my focus on this review is the chicken. My grandma made the best pan fried chicken in my opinion, so I was setting the bar high. As we waited for our food I couldn't help but watch the other diners enjoy their chicken dinners. I had to assume they were loving it because nobody was really talking...just eating. Yup...that is exactly what happened to us as well! We anxiously tried to make room on our table for the dishes of food our waitress brought to us. A platter of fried chicken, a bowl of mashed potatoes, a bowl of creamy chicken gravy, a bowl of homemade creamed corn (fresh off the cob), and a basket of rolls with homemade strawberry jam. Everything was fantastic! The chicken just slightly crunchy as pan fried is, was super moist and juicy on the inside and was seasoned perfectly. No need to add salt to any of the dishes actually. The mashed potatoes made perfectly and the chicken gravy was savory...the best I've had in a long time! The creamed corn was delicious as well. Even had enough gravy if you wanted to dip your roll in it! After our meal they served each of us a scoop of homemade vanilla bean ice cream! Comfort food at its finest!! We dined with my parents and my father commented that he almost thought his mother was in the kitchen cooking the food herself! I agreed...either that or she sent it down straight from heaven!! I'm hoping they keep this Saturday night special going forever! My only complaint was that the food came out just barely warm...not borderline hot as I like my food, however it was VERY cold in the restaurant and am wondering if that played a part. We flew all the way from California just to try this place! (Kind of) My family was out here last month for my graduation, and this spot was highly recommended by one of the locals when I asked for some food recommendations the first night we landed. The person who told us about this place spoke very highly of their Saturday Special -- the fried chicken dinner. He said the chicken is fresh, the potatoes melt in your mouth, the biscuits freshly basked, the home recipe strawberry preserves, coupled with cream of corn which tastes like candy, all ending with homemade vanilla bean ice cream. With a description like this??? Totally sold. My family drove by the next day and found the spot next door to a gas station with car/pet wash. Interesting. When we walked in the door, we were warmly greeted by the staff and immediately brought to a table. We selected the dinner which had came so highly recommended, and boy did it not disappoint. We live close by and have been coming here since they opened at this location. Finicky Franks is tucked away in a small strip mall of sorts, just off I-680 by the Mormon bridge, just north of Florence. It is tucked in next to a gas station and car wash, but don't let that dissuade you. They have a nice small outdoor patio, and the inside has been expanded with a nice bar as the focal point, and tables around. It is still a small place, but feels way more upscale than what it may seem from the outside. Their food is fresh, and their soups probably the strongest item on the menu. The chef makes them all from scratch, and they change often. My daughter normally gets their pizza, which is fresh made and usually pretty good. We go light on the sauce for her, as it has a lot of garlic. We have had a variety of the appetizers, and most have been solid. My go to entree is the steak sandwich, as I love the 'steak sauce' that comes with it. I have gotten it as take out, where they forgot the sauce, and have been devastated!! I also like the Chicken Knuckle sandwich, and their burger is pretty good as well. A nice place in Florence to grab a bite to eat. They have gone to cash only, so bring along some, or else you get hit with the ATM fee for the ATM inside. On a 'green' note, they donate all of their used cooking oil to the Omaha Biofuel CO-OP, which turns it into Bio-Diesel, pretty cool! read more

Our server gave us solid recommendations which no server does any more. First, Appetizers all looked good, spinach/artichoke dip was top notch and not a very large serving which was perfect for us. Good tip, Saturday night is fried chicken night. Seriously, grandma's fried chicken with mashed potatoes and creamed corn. Hot, juicy, tasty and crunchy. Half of a chicken, too. You'll want to move to the South it's so good. Yum-o! Very good. Kind of a nice surprise to find blue ribbon winning fried chicken in the Ponca Hills. We also had the Veggie stir fry$17, a few bucks more to add chicken or beef. Very good, delivered hot and veggies were fresh. Try the Knuckle Sandwich, (why you, I oughta) grilled chicken, with ham topped with crispy bacon an a brioche bun. Knuckle sandwich because it takes all your knuckles to get over on it. ($16). Looked good to me. Dessert menu was lemon cake, chocolate cake or carrot cake. The latter was the best deal. It looked great. Dinner overall was excellent, service was excellent, too. Pricing was about average for the Biden economy, or above average, but worth the price due to the food & service. A drink tip: bottle of beer is $5 bucks, a glass of wine is $12 bucks. This place is so fun! The decor and ambience are fancy and not what you expect from the outside. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic. I will say it is a bit pricey for a regular outing, but for a date night or taking people out to impress them, take them here! The husband helps tend bar and the wife is the chef. Thanks to Yelpers I had the Reuben. You have to ask for it as it is not on the menu. It was good. The bread was right but maybe a bit crisper would have made it perfect. The key to the Reuben is the kraut and sauce and it was excellent. Not quite as good as M's Pub's Reuben but in the ballpark. My daughter had the hamburger and she liked it. Her fries weren't nearly as good my onion rings. They were noticeably soggy. She wanted the French snails but they were out of the creatures. We had shrimp and it was good but overpriced for the quantity. We should have had the crab cakes. The patio was pleasant and unlike the nearby Alpine Inn there were no small animals mooching food. Every time I go to Finicky Franks, I wonder why I waited so long between visits. We started with the onion rings, which were fabulous. Some of the best I've ever had. The truffle fries are also very good. For my main course, I had the crab cake sandwich, lots of crab meat and very tasty. I also had a bite of the pasta. The best food in Omaha. Thursday is Walleye night the crust is buttery and crunchy the fish is tender and fresh. It is served with coleslaw and onion potatoes. The potatoes were really good but the coleslaw with jus a hint of kale was excellent. The drinks are well made that just shows that Kesa knows her way around the bar as well as the Kitchen. We used to love this place but we won't be back. I called to check whether we need a reservation & he said yes & insisted we take a 7:30 time instead of 8:00 pm, he took my name. We got there 4/30/21 and there was no reservation but it was ok because there were only 3 inside tables with people. I was never told they close at 9:00pm. The artisan pizza crust was burned, the french fries were an unappetizing dark brown, side salad was unappetizing to look at so we didn't eat it and the famous crab cake was mushy with no taste. I love their Saturday special, the home style fried chicken dinner. But their other menu items have never disappointed. We have vulnerable family members and have been socially distancing during the pandemic. However, I really wanted that chicken to celebrate my birthday. We ordered carry out. As we have come to expect, our meals were delicious. (My wife got the crab cake sandwich.) Unfortunately, we will not be returning anytime soon. When I arrived, the wait staff were masked, but the bartender (owner?) was not. Neither were any of the kitchen staff. At our table there were a couple crab cake salads, an enchilada, a pork tenderloin sandwich, a knuckle sandwich a salad and a chicken fried steak. For starters 2 of those meals were supposed to be the chicken special but at least 15 minutes after we ordered we were informed they were out of chicken. So those who had chicken went back to the menu to figure out plan B. During this time a woman not our waitress (owner? Chef?) came and spoke to my friend in such a way that if it'd been up to me we'd have walked out. Why? Because he had asked if one of the sandwiches was good. I don't know what this persons problem was exactly but insulting paying customers, especially after you screw up, isn't a sustainable business model. Food took a long time to arrive. When it did the aforementioned friend was given a chicken fried steak he didn't order. They left it at the table if anyone wanted it and the friend had to wait even longer to get what he ordered. Meanwhile a salad that another had ordered didn't arrive until we were basically done. Finally we waited and waited and finally were able to flag down our waitress to ask for the checks. 20-30 minutes later the checks arrived, with an automatic 20% tip added because there were 8 of us. I never would have tipped my usual 20% on my own based on the experience and after what had transpired I found the auto-tip insulting. You cannot treat people like that. Period. The fault was all on the restaurant. Waitress did her best to apologize but whomever this other person is all but ensured that none of us will be back. And I'll have no problem relaying my experience to others. Plenty of other fantastic places to eat in this town where you don't have to be treated poorly. read more
