    Steak and hashbrowns

Unfortunately, we were not impressed with Vidlak's. The steak was completely inedible and went straight into the trash. It was so overcooked. I couldn't even chew it. The eggs were dry. The hashbrowns were soggy and greasy. Nothing was seasoned so it all had zero flavor. The only thing good was the pancakes. I'll give them a 3/10 for the pancakes. Would not recommend.

We brought our grandparents here and the food was outstanding. I had steak and eggs with hollandaise. Super Yummy. We never needed to ask for anything as there was always a server checking in and they have a lady who just goes around and fills coffee up. Such amazing service. Our grandparents have walkers and the place was a little packed on a Saturday morning, but the staff were so friendly and accommodating.

One of the best spots in Omaha for a Sunday brunch. You cannot go wrong. The chicken fried chicken is always so good and you can't forget the cinnamon roll french toast. Service is always great and fast. Love the old diner vibes

The third time was the charm in our attempt to have weekend breakfast at Vidlak's. We rolled out of bed early, hit the road by 7:45 and pulled up -- and into a parking space!!! -- just as the establishment opened at 8 (at which time there already was a line of 15-20 folks). Seat yourself, the sign said, and there was plenty of room. Its larger inside than youd think. The restaurant is in a long-established strip mall, but the restaurant interior was clean, bright, with high ceilings and plenty of room between tables. It appears there were quite a few regulars, sitting at their regular tables, with no need for menus as folks "already knew what they wanted." And guests greeted each other as well as sang happy birthday to a server. Coffee is hot, constantly (though not intrusively) refilled, and everyone is friendly. We started with a shared, gigantic cinnamon roll swimming in (sour cream?) icing. Pillowy soft and light, though probably not calorically, we stopped halfway through to leave room for our "real" breakfast. Just to get a basic feel for the place, we both had a standard bacon, eggs, hashbrowns and toast. The bacon was cooked just right -- cooked all the way through with some flexibility remaining. The flavor was not the best, a light sense of smoke, but no real other flavor -- no sweetness, no saltiness. I was disappointed with that. Eggs were cooked just right for dipping with toast that actually was toasted, with a nice bit of butter without being soaked. And the star -- a healthy (size-wise ) serving of deliciously crispy hash browns. I could eat those all day! I highly recommend you try this place, but do some reconnaissance first to get an idea of just how popular it is. If you just show up some morning at 9, you might find an extremely long wait. (It's probably worth it, though.)

Sweet cute older restaurant. Really good service and nice staff. The omelette I got was stuffed and super moist. The pancakes were delicious as well. Is pretty busy though so expect a little bit of a wait.

I've been going to Brookside for 20 years, and every single time it lives up to the hype. We got there at 10:45am and they were packed. Waited for a 2 top for about 20 minutes, and loved watching the regulars and newbies come and go. Food was delicious, hot and filling! I've never had something on the menu I didn't enjoy. The waitstaff is wonderful, from those that have worked there for as long as we've been going, to the newer employees, they all have the same great attitude. Welcoming environment and a great place to grab some food on a Sunday morning!

Another year... Another great breakfast! We decided to bring my parents for a good breakfast and it did not disappoint... Everyone was pleased and walked out full. I can't remember what I ordered, but it was very good. I believe it was some type of veggie, potato, and cheese skillet thing. My boys went with cinnamon rolls and cinnamon roll French toast, and I will probably go that route next time instead of trying to eat healthy lol. Overall great price for all the food, and if you download the PinPoint app you can build up for discounts..

Excellent breakfast spit in Omaha. Great service and excellent portion sizes. It was busier than usual, obviously for a Sunday morning. Waited about ten minutes to get seated. Rachel greeted me and took my order within minutes. The only downside is deciding what to order. Coming back again the SO.

Finally got a chance to check this place out. If you're looking for classic dinners food, this is it. They also have a bunch of unique combinations of omelets and skillets that I will have to try next time. The atmosphere reminds me of going to diners as a kid. My favorite part was the red chairs. If you know, you know. The service was great. Food was out so fast and was so fresh.

Gilberts you've been knocked down to number 2. I love the calamari and the dips they came with. It has the perfect chew and wasn't overcooked. It's hard to remember, but I believe my husband had some kind of chicken Alfredo or pasta. He has to write his own review. It was good. I also had a wedge salad, which was delicious as well. The ambience of 402 is nice and seems upscale but at the same time casual. I like that because we weren't dressed up. The waiters and waitresses wore T-shirts and jeans, but the atmosphere is still fancy for a nice date night.

If you get a choice of spots to sit, I would request not to sit on west side of restaurant where there is a long bench seat and tables lined up. It felt pretty close together, a little too cozy for me. The table next to us was in our conversation too often and we could definitely hear their conversation just fine. I'm also not sure what our "Universal Service Fee" was for, but wasn't an outrageous fee. We paid cash trying to avoid the extra fees. In all, it's a good spot as long as you get to chat with your party and not have unintended visitors from neighboring tables.

Most of our group had been to Cheddar's before, and we were all excited to try some new menu items. Overall, the food was a hit. The onion rings came out hot and fresh, the lemon pepper chicken was especially juicy, and the white fish ended up being another favorite at the table. That said, there were a few service missteps that took away from the experience. Two people in our group ordered the white fish blackened, but only one plate came out as requested--the other was pretty bland. When our server eventually checked in (a bit later than expected), we mentioned the mix-up. His response was pretty casual, something along the lines of there just being less spice, and he didn't offer to fix it or have it remade. We ended up just swapping a fillet between the two plates so each person had one blackened and one not. It worked, but it felt like something that should have been handled differently. There were also a few moments where drinks went empty for a while, and our server wasn't around much. At one point, a manager actually stepped in and refilled waters for the table, which we appreciated. Overall, the service felt very laid-back...but to the point where it came across like he didn't care. One bright spot worth mentioning: my salad came out before the meal with a lot more cheese on top than I expected. As I was picking some off onto a side plate, a manager happened to notice and stopped to ask if I'd prefer a new salad without cheese. I explained it wasn't a mistake, just more than I wanted, but I really appreciated the attention and the offer to make it right.

Suffice to say (before reading my long review) it was not on par with the L street location! The staff were definitely new and learning the menu, but that is to be expected any time a new place is freshly opened. Our server, Blake, was nice though and was learning fast. But with a few other servers, there was one thing that did not come about from being a server in a new restaurant. We were eating and could CLEARLY hear the staff around the corner talking loudly and cursing left and right. I am not a prude about language but it's just not something you see every day at a restaurant with families/kids dining. The size of the restaurant seems a little smaller than the L street location, too. That may be a psychosomatic thing when trying a different location of a place you know, but I definitely felt more cramped. The food is on par with the OG spot, so no complaints there. My usual is the bourbon glazed salmon with the cheesy broccoli on the side. So it was just as tasty as the other location, but I think I'll stick to the L street one mostly going forward.

Seated within 15 minutes so not bad at all. Place is packed. Tables that were seated after us have a server. Hmmm. About 10 minutes after being seated our server shows up. Very nice but hurried. The other tables were asked if it was their first time; talked about the menu for the evening etc. again, not a huge deal. Drinks were great..an old fashioned and a black Manhattan. I'm assuming it was a manager who came over and apologized for the delay in getting our dinners. Again, we let them know we were not in a hurry. We get the craziness of Valentine's Day. But let's get to the food...did they remove all the seasoning from the kitchen??? Our Brussels sprouts were undercooked and little to no flavor. The steaks had absolutely no seasoning and the mashed were like paste. We had to ask for salt and pepper. Why can't they just put it on the table? My prime rib was blood rare which I talked to the server about before I ordered and said I would like medium and he said they could. Oh and no horseradish sauce like it said on the menu. The saving grace was I had the French onion soup which was terrific. Like I said, knowing how crazy it is on Valentine's Day, we expected a wait. But after waiting quite a long time for our food, I think they could've made sure it was cooked and seasoned properly.
