We love Daiso so much! When we found out there was one in NJ, we just had to come by and check it out. It's in the plaza with Mitsuwa Marketplace and other stores. The store is spacious. We couldn't find everything we wanted, but they have a good variety of items (household, stationary, office, party). They have a big section of snacks, food and drinks compared to some of the Daiso we've been to. You're not allowed to bring your drinks in. They have a spot to put your drinks by the entrance of the store. So if you don't feel comfortable leaving your drink by the entrance/ exit where people passes by, avoid bringing it in. Also bring your own reusable bags to hold the items you bought (we forgot ours but we just brought it to our car). I believe they raised their baseline prices from 1.50 to 1.99 now on all items without a sticker. However, that is still a killer bargain for most of the items in the store. read more

This was my favorite store to find unique, cool things, especially office products. Lately is like walking into a Walgreens. No variety, nothing different and unique and none of the older, original items. Please go back to ordering nice and unique items. If I wanted crap I would go to a dollar store. read more

During the covid times, they have a person letting people in so they don't max out the allowed people. Every month they have something different in stock. It costs more than $1, most averaging $2 if there's no price tag on them. But its all interesting knick knacks where you can't help to buy and use in your daily life. Like I got 2 plastic cases to put my naruto figures in and they cost about $4 each case. Too pricey compared to other Daisos in the US. It's sad that they have to jack up the prices here. Bought a neck pillow and it's supposed to be just $3.00 but with the blue sticker on they charged .50c more. Just go to your local dollar store and save. Almost all their merchandise are sadly cheaply-made and overpriced. read more

I don't know what the original hours are but I went to Daiso today and was met with the same variety of products I had expected. Something told me the person checking me out was the owner and he was very friendly. I was offered a bag for $0.20 and was able to get everything I needed before returning back to campus this semester amidst this pandemic. read more

I am half Japanese and I've been coming to Mitsuwa and Daiso for a while now and I could just say the blatant discrimination that I faced two days ago at the shop was beyond me. I literally felt like I was literally being profiled and the guy didn't believe that I actually had $100 bill. This guy use the money marker on the bill and it came out yellow multiple times showing that it was obviously real and he had to compare it to other hundred dollar bills and took 20 minutes of embarrassing me just to see if my hundred dollar bill was real. The store was extremely packed people were rushing everyone and being rude so the fact that he sat there after people were being rude for waiting a long time just to take 20 minutes to check my hundred dollar bill which within the first five minutes came out to be real just shows the blatant disrespect. I love Daiso and was so excited to see that it finally opened here. We unfortunately visited during the mitsuwa summer festival so the place was packed, but the lines went super fast. Everything here is $2 unless marked otherwise, and there is so much to browse! Snacks, office supplies, kitchen stuff, cute school supplies, slippers, containers, art supplies, makeup, tools... I could spend so much time here and probably buy a ton of stuff I only kind of need, or rationalize into buying something because it could be a good gift for someone (but chances are I'm keeping it). read more

There are a couple of Daisos closer to me in Queens, but I'll sometimes come out to this location as they have more offerings than the ones by me. Lots of useful and often times very odd items for sale here, and I'll usually end up leaving this store with a lot more stuff than I had anticipated buying. Just be sure not to come here on Sunday to bypass Bergen County's weird blue laws that prohibits shoppers from buying select home good items. read more

Daiso is currently open! I visited on a Friday in the afternoon in July. They were well stocked with hand sanitizer and face masks on a stand not far from the door. You will see it immediately after you walk into the store. Overall they were well stocked in just about any department. I saw an abundance of stationary, kitchen items, household products, and organization products. They have several of these laundry mesh bags (good quality compared to the ones sold in dollar tree), so I had to grab a few. Please note that most items which do not have a price sticker are $1.99, however some items are priced higher. There are conversion charts easily found in the aisles so you can convert the Yen price to USD. There are very cute character stationary and tote bags alike. Take your time going through the aisles as you may not know what you may find on the end caps. Try to come early as a line will usually form around 12pm. By the time we left, there was a line to enter the store. There are updated hours on the front of the store but I forgot to take a photo. They have things you need and things you didn't know you needed. For instance, there was this really cute collapsible chopstick set that came in its own carrying kit. Or you could buy a tool to help turn over takoyaki as you are cooking them. They even have knives but I have never bought any from here so I cannot attest to their quality. The beauty aisle is stocked with tweezers, nail clippers, overall grooming supplies. I picked up a scalp massager that works pretty well. It help provide better circulation to the head when washing your hair. The entire back wall is devoted to baskets and organizational bins, which would be a great asset for anyone looking for a certain look to their bins. I also like the assortment of dishes, cups, and chopsticks in their kitchen section. The bento boxes are cute as well, if you are looking for a true Japanese style of packing your food. I am not sure how microwavable they are though. On your way to the checkout area there is a snack food section. Of course they offer pocky but they also have ramen and other foods. There is a wall right next to the cashiers that has tote bags if you are looking for such things. If you do not bring your own bag, the cashier will supply you one for 5 cents. This was my first visit to this Daiso since it has opened. The parking lot space is the same lot as the Mitsuwa one. I believe most people come here for shopping at Mitsuwa, so it's a nice place to stop by and check out after supermarket shopping (it takes longer to enter Mitsuwa than Daiso). read more

I am in love with this place. It is full of interesting items that you never realize that you need until you see them. I'm not even going to list the items. OK, you talked me into it. There were little cat head pillows, black cat hangers, fake grass, stick on privacy covers for your windows, stick on tile, many organizers, little boxes, dishes, Japanese sodas, snacks and ramen. There were back brushes, house slippers, cute little kid's toys, a hand sized shopping cart and fake cherry blossoms. Take your tween or teen daughter in here and you may need to be kicked out, because she will not want to leave until closing. They have lots of school supplies and makeup, and other kawaii odds and ends. Grown ups will love this store too, for kitchen and garden items. It is not that expensive either, all the items were $1.99USD unless they had a currency sticker on them. read more

very cute store with the most random items. set up like a typical japanese department store (yes ive been there). simple, but organized. you can find anything from make up to snacks to pet clothes to hats. MOST items are 1.99, but alot are under id say about 8.00. However, keep in mind you *must spend 10.00 to use a card*. the kids toys are way over priced, but i think the food and soups are cheap! ps, the make up is awesome too! the sunglass section is only 1.99 and theres some cute stuff. i will gladly be back here to grab cheap silverware, cups, and dinner ware - they have cute pots and cups. read more

This store no doubt has lots of stuffs to buy, some of them r things that you don't would think of to buy. That said, it's pricing practice is not acceptable. Makes me think that this is strategic on their part it is a scam, dishonest business practice. in fact I've never come across a retailer with incorrect pricing as daiso. First of all, it claims that everything is 1.99 unless it's marked otherwise. Some items could have a price tag on it either in yen or USD. Fine. The problem is, they don't put sticker on all of the items they're charging higher than $1.99! Not even on the shelf they don't indicate the correct pricing. Second of all, even tho the item is marked a higher price, they don't charge you the sticker price but higher. For example, I bought a pair of reindeer ears for my car, the sticker says $4.00. The cashier ring up $4.50. I pointed out that's incorrect. They told me that's California price. R u serious?! This is east coast, why you put west coast price? For $0.50, I didn't want to argue, but any reasonable retailer would honor the sticker price n admit their mistake. Thirdly, everything is final sale no return of exchange. If you didn't pay attention to what the merchandise ring up at the register, you're probably at a loss. The cashier told me usually they have a sticker marking higher price, I told them to check out the shelf, there's no sticker on any of the items. They charged me $5.00 for a small box of tea with no sticker on the entire shelf. I assumed it was $1.99 To me this feels like a scam to charge you a lot more if you didn't pay attention. I do enjoy shopping small n cute stuffs. But this is complete fraud when they don't list their price clearly n correctly tag. read more

If you're not familiar with Daiso, it's like a Japanese 99¢ store (except it's more like $1.50 unless marked otherwise). It's great to find lots and lots of cute school supplies. For instance, if you need erasers, this place has no shortage of that. They also have great tchotchkes for every occasion and Japanese junk foods galore. This particular location was very neat and tidy, though they were out of everything I needed. It's also in the same parking lot as a Mitsuwa (Japanese grocery) so I'm certain it's very popular! read more

This was okay, good but not great. About 3/4 of the store were things you could find in regular discount stores in the US with about 1/4 of the store being more unique. The snacks were actually cheaper in the grocery store in the same shopping center. I travelled for the Daiso but overall, I enjoyed the rest of the shopping center more. read more

Items on Japanese home, kitchenware, makeup, stationery, stuffed toys, storage bins, etc. Located next to Mitsuwa, Japanese market. Not as fully stock yet. Price ($1.99) is higher in the East Coast from $1.50 (West Coast). read more

You like 'dollar stores'? Well, this fun place is often billed as the Japanese version (kind of sort of), and it doesn't dissapoint! Lots of useful and unique household and kitchen items, storage solutions, children's toys and stuffed animals, seasonal items and home decor, and Japanese snacks and food! Try the 'Meiji' and 'Dars' milk and white chocolate. Many of the price tags are in Yen, with dollar conversion amounts posted on the shelves, usually from $1.99 (most items are on the less expensive side) up to around 10 dollars. We went in there 'just to look' and buy one or two items, but walked out an hour later with two large bags full, 80 dollars lighter! We are hoping they expand to the Cleveland area soon. read more
