This Location Discriminates Against Black and Disabled Patrons - Harmful Behavior of Ms. Jaylynn Crawford at Sedgwick and Target Employee, West 125th Street
As a member of a disability community of over 10,000 individuals, I feel compelled to report the harmful and discriminatory behavior exhibited by Ms. Jaylynn Crawford at Sedgwick and a Target employee at the West 125th Street location. On December 2nd, 2025, I personally witnessed Ms. Crawford articulating to my colleague, Ms. Thorne, a Black woman with a disability, that she should "wait in line like every patron," despite Ms. Thorne's request for accommodation. One public restroom was inoperative, the line for the other was extremely long, and her paratransit was arriving immediately. This dismissal of her disability and urgent need directly resulted in Ms. Thorne requiring hospital treatment.
This behavior is profoundly harmful because it invalidates the needs of disabled individuals and exposes them to unnecessary risk. The Target employee exhibited the same dismissive and discriminatory behavior, reflecting a pattern of mistreatment toward Black and disabled patrons at this location. Such conduct is unacceptable. I strongly urge caution when visiting this location and call for accountability to prevent further harm. read more
