A lot of items are locked up. There isn't even a button to press if you need assistance. You have to go on a wild goose chase hunting down employees hoping one of them has a key. If you have multiple items you need to buy, be ready to wait at least 5-10 minutes PER locked item. Waste of time, terrible experience and customer service read more

While I enjoy shopping at Target this Columbus Avenue may be a big let down compared to your other shopping experiences - beyond the fact this basement location may be the smallest Target I've ever seen. The upsides: 1) It's open until 10 PM, compared to the much larger W. 125th St. Harlem location (nearest to me) which closes oddly the earliest of any Manhattan location - i.e., 8 PM. 2) You get competitive price matching for branded items (which many here are Target's private label) with Walmart when you purchase an item in-store and not online or via the app. The downsides: 1) Selection is extremely limited. That being said, you can order online for pickup, which gives you an idea if what you're looking for may be in stock. (They did fill my app order very quickly.) 2) Noted several Target team members stocking items on the floor are (being polite) a little clueless - a surprising feat considering how tiny this location is. I asked two of them for "copier paper" and they really didn't understand what it is, particularly the young woman. After several repeats, I added, "You know, like for a laser printer." The guy gave me an aisle number which was where electronics were. Seeking another Target staff for assistance, he helped me find what I was looking for two aisles down. Most important, given my great experiences at other Targets and select items available here, they need to really better train everyone before they hit the floor on what they sell and where it is! With a wider selection than a Convenience Store, keep a low expectation when entering this Manhattan Valley Target! read more

It is kind of hectic in here but it is close by to multiple apt complexes so it's pretty convenient. This target is more of a grab and go - it's a basement location and not as big as others. There's a bit of stuff here and there but not a wide selection. read more

This target literally offers nothing but I guess that's majority of targets in manhattan. Also their customer service sucks. Took my students with asd on a shopping run (learning how to ask for help and pay for things), some of the workers were so rude to them. Aside from that this target has nothing at all expect for your essentials. read more

It's a Target in the city. Set expectations accordingly. What I don't like is the returns/ order pick ups/exchanges are all at the same counter so when you stop in for a quick order pick up, it's anything but. Really small Target that doesn't carry much other than a few basics. The worst part is the amount of product behind locked doors and a policy that requires anything over $40 to be walked to the front of the store. For a store that has more self check-out registers than cashiers, terrible policies and long waits. read more

This teeny, tiny Target is basically best for in-store pickup if you are often in the area. This spot was formerly the longstanding Modell's which didn't appeal to me in regards to their variety. As appealing as shopping in Target is, this location just doesn't have the space to offer a satisfying experience. Now if you, like me, happened to be looking for a hard to find item that was available here, then it is golden. I was able to locate my item down the aisle number, and pay in under 10 minutes at the self checkout. However, most items are way overpriced compared to the website and other locations. This was the only Target that I've walked out of with literally only the one item. This place earns three stars due to having my hard to find item but that's about where the perks end. If you're in the area to kill time or run errands, this Target misses the mark. Although somewhat spacious, it just doesn't have the inventory nor appeal that the average shopper is looking for. The staff was helpful but not in any way that would have me running back as a frequent shopper here. Meh. read more

Target on the Upper West Side finally reopened. I stopped in today for comparison with my East 86th Street location. It didn't rock my boat. They have absolutely no clothing department. I asked the very nice employee. In fact all the employees I came in contact with were the highlight of my visit. I hate the very steep escalators going up and down to get to the shopping area. The elevator was scary when I took it down. I wondered if I was going to be stuck! I'm happy for the people in this neighborhood that they now have a Target. I won't go out of my way to shop here. It's a pretty atmosphere though. There are some amenities like restrooms and bottles return for deposit that are handy. The trick is getting down the elevator or escalator. read more

HORRENDOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE. I do not even want to give them one star. Horrible & Rude employees. I had to use the ladies room urgently one morning. It was about 10:15AM. There were employees at the cash register leaning against the back of registers doing nothing. I asked if they could watch my cart as I know you are not supposed to take cart in bathroom. I told young woman I needed her to hurry. She took her time. Actually they all looked stoned. The manager reached out to me but she basically do nothing. The store is devoid of merchandise. I have been to many different Target stores over the years but this store offers the smallest selection of merchandise. They don't even have a clothing section. Don't get me wrong. It's a decent size space but not as big as a standard Target store. They have a pretty big grocery section. They offer a bit of everything else but their selections are limited and their aisles are short. It was a busy store but it was just not for me. I zipped in and out pretty quickly. I think this place is geared more for the people who live in the area. read more

So happy there's a Target here now! It is located very conveniently close to my other favorite stores, so running errands will be easier now. It's a pretty small Target but has a small selection of everything you'd need, like food, toiletries, school supplies, toys, cleaning supplies, medicine, etc. I didn't see a clothing section, or maybe I missed it? And they didn't have the dollar spot either (nooo!) Many of the shelves were well stocked despite being just opened and it was super organized. Overall a really great addition to the neighborhood and will be coming here often. read more

The basics stuff you would need in a pinch. Limited supplies for now. New to neighborhood. Friendly staff. This location is great for those who also frequent Wholefoods, TJMaxx/HomeGoods empire and Sephora. I came by at the end of the day and snagged the last small Brita. In early December I purchased a Hamilton Beach Glass Electric Kettle and crushed ice cube trays. The ice trays had a design flaw and the kettle stopped boiling water. I attempted to return the items for HASSLE FREE return and exchange. Let me begin by complimenting every sales associate I've ever encountered in the aisles for their kindness, hospitality and professionalism. I was shocked by the self identified store manager Bryan's resistance to help me and uphold the store's policy. I was told that without a box he was not taking it back and that any of my calls to customer service wouldn't alter his resolve. He for some reason was personalizing my request for service as an affront to his sensibilities. I did make the call after returning home ( a long walk for a disabled veteran). I was told to return to the store and that he would process the return- he said he would never take it back and refused to speak to the customer service representative. I was told to throw out the merchandise and that a Gift Card would follow in days to come. I just wanted to exchange my kettle not do combat with an ego not suited for retail. I received my gift card via email and returned to the store and made purchases and realized I had a balance remaining. I asked the cashier if I could use the receipt to self check out. I was misinformed and asked for assistance from a young woman. I said the barcode on the receipt was not working. With unwarranted hostility she snapped at me "I have to scan the email" and then walked away leaving me waiting too long. I returned the cashier and mentioned that she had misinformed me. She said I needed to use the email. I had also tried that and it had failed. I then asked her for the managers name which was Camila or Kamilia. She declined to give the name. I was taken aback by Bryan's use of profanity with fellow employees while laughing about something hopefully not related to or about me. The encounter today was nasty enough for a stare down as I tried to access the source of her anger.. Was it retribution for my former complaint? I will not return to this location ever again. Target should know a culture of intolerance exists in this location. I am a member of the LGBTQ community and have no proof that I was discriminated against. I would like to know why the policy for the nation was not extended to me.? read more

The employees are useless ,they don't help you find the item your looking for. They just point you to where they think it is .

I hate that this is the closest Target to me because it sucks. Teeny, shoebox size Target and they're always out of everything, they never have hardly anything. Columbia students come down to this one and absolutely wipe the shelves of everything and the aisles are impossible to navigate, so frustrating. read more

I would give 5 star but target have a rude lady at the self checkout who always have an attitude. The eggs is usually 2.89 or 2.99 so I went to pay for 2 dozen but it shows 5.00 and change...I called the nice lady on duty but the rude one came as well. The nice lady said it's a mistake. Usually you suppose to honor the price its under but I said nothing but the attitude of the other woman that I disliked. Her words in a rude manner it is impossible that this egg would be this price and rolling her eyes as if it's my fault. I went back and took a picture of the section with the price and on my way back she still talking and looking me rolling her eyes. An employee with such a nasty attitude should be in the back stocking the shelves. I am in retail and she could never be an employee where I work. I have not being back since and l was a regular . This is not the first mistake with the prices and I am confident I am not the only one who notice. read more

I discovered that products could be hypoallergenic and some of these products could ease my neuropathy that prevents me from touching many fabrics that seem soft but are really irritating. I bought a mattress protector, a mattress cover and 5 plush throws. All but one were touchable. The return policy for the one item was simple and straight forward. Not impossible! As in 'return only package unopened'. How can you tell if something works unless you open it! In general a nice atmosphere to shop. read more

There is no Target Dollar Spot here (Bullseye Playground) and no shoes or clothing. Way too much space devoted to makeup that nobody is buying here. Cashiers are reluctant to ring people up, they want you to use self checkout instead. Why bother having physical stores when sale prices only given if you "buy online" .
