This place lives upto its name of Little Japan, because you really get the feeling of walking inside a Japanese store. It's a big of store, full of all kinds of products, few thousands of them. They have the Japanese plates and cups, decorative items, samurai swords, chopsticks, anime characters, dolls, snacks, hats, apparel, stationary, gift items and decoration goods. Apparel collection wasn't that good, ceramic, decorative and stationary items were the best in my opinion. The prices are decent, but little higher compared to dollar store items, probably because these are imported goods. The aisles are tiny. Need to walk carefully, especially in the ceramics area. It's mostly tidy. Different sections of the stores have associates helping customers. The checkout line was long for us. Took us few minutes to get to the register. They also charge additional fees for credit card that is posted right in front of the checkout counter. read more

This store has such an incredible variety of things from Sanrio, Anime, Sonnys, etc. Insane amount of different cute plushies and keychains. The store is a little pricey but that's to be expected with shops like these. Definitely worth checking out though if you love all sorts of unique things. read more

Whenever we visit Mitsuwa, my kids must go to Little Japan it get their Japanese trinkets and chotskis. They sell all the Japanese character toys and plushies. We go for the wide collection of Gundam, BT21, Gudetama, and Smiskis. read more

Perfect location, great place to discover and find goods imported straight from Japan. Price - 9/10 Price for items are average to a little cheaper than other areas that sell Japanese goods. I found that some items were a bit more expensive, but overall the selection is on par with other locations. Selection - 10/10 I would say for any Japanese hobby enthusiast, this is a wonderful location to visit when stopping at Mitsuwa. They feature tons of clothes, toys, and collectibles, such as Funko Pops, Blind Boxes, Sanrio, and more. As a note to any visitors outside of New Jersey, clothing sales are banned on Sundays, so any clothing purchase was prohibited. I was looking for Tomica Die-cast cars, and they had a wonderful selection of not only cars, but also trains as well. Service - 10/10 The products I was looking for were locked behind a counter, but it was very easy to find someone who would open the counter and help get the items I wanted. They were very helpful and knowledgeable about the store, easily finding what I wanted within the store. read more

Came here to browse Japanese homewares as was looking into bowls and platters. They have a great selection of beautiful designs. Some smaller than expected and cost a pretty penny. I was on a hunt for a large large platter (for sushi, and whatnot). And then, their tea wares, I'm so jealous and wish I can buy most of the stuff but don't have the space for it nor need it as I already have 2 sets of tea wares. read more

We love browsing in this Japanese toy/kitchen wares/ clothing / stationery store. Masks are supplied but not mandated to enter. They are still controlling capacity. We waited a few minutes at the door to go in at Saturday 6 pm. My son especially enjoyed the Godzilla toys. My daughter loves the stuff animals. The store also offers many bubblegum machines (Gashapon ) filled with cool toys and products. Six tokens needed for one trial, costing $6.99. read more

Nice place to come after shopping at Mitsuwa and having some ramen. This shop has a variety of items from clothing to kitchen good and dining ware that is imported from Japan. I also like the trinkets and random figurines. I tend to always purchase a little something from here. They also have some really nice Japanese knives that are super sharp and beautiful. Visited during the PANDEMIC. I was very happy that they limited the number of people inside the store, then handed you plastic gloves (which weren't great and easily ripped, but hey, it was the thought that counts). Lots of Japanese goods like ceramics and housewares, some food products, clothing etc. I didn't really need anything, but it was fun to peruse. They even had luggage, kimonos and incense. read more

Oh man talk about absolute paradise! When we came to the city I had fully expected to just come here and then head into Manhattan. What I didn't realize was that there is an entire plaza that is dedicated to Japan. They have this store and so many other ones, including food! The staff here are beyond pleasant and helped me so much. I'm opening a café and needed a few things to go with the vibe I have. I was able to find the perfect curtain for my door for the café, as well as a super cool Japanese lamp too. I could have spent so much time in this one store. From clothing, to toys, to furniture including futons, to even gatcha machines, they have it all! Some of there prices are definitely kind of high, but there stuff is as authentic as it gets and that doesn't come cheap. I highly recommend coming here, just make sure to give your self ample time to look around! read more

Short waiting time to enter store. They keep the number of customers inside to a minimum which we appreciate. We waited about 5-10 mins. They let us in after a group of people left. It's our first time here so not sure if it's always been like this or due to covid. They also ask you to use the hand sanitizer prior to entering. They have a lot of different Gundam models. Mixture of anime products. In the back has other Japanese theme products like household goods and clothes. Lots of cute stationaries that reminds my GF of those cute stationaries stores. Brings back a lot of childhood memories! Hard to come by these stores nowadays. I can definitely spend a lot of time in the Gundam section since that was something that I grew up with and grew up watching that anime. There were other anime related items as well such as action figures, clothes, and souvenirs related to anime. They have a ton of toys, figurines, collectibles, plushes, beautiful kitchenware, stationary, pens,etc. they also now have a puri photo booth. Very popular with kids but I think anyone can have fun looking through their wares. They do have a high price point. Probably higher than Kinokuniya book store next door. read more

Cute store that has soooo much stuff packed into it. Reminds me of a shop we have here at home that has all these Asian knick knacks. Lots of Hello Kitty, anime and Tomica cars... Huge collection of Japanese related toys and collectables. None of it was really my thing but the prices seem reasonable and there was a great variety. They had some nice Japanese sweets which is cool. They packed a lot into a little space! the only thing I disliked was those toy meter things where you insert a coin and turn a dial and get a toy in a round plastic container. First off, Little Japan is extremely my sh*t. So, I loved it from the gate! They have SO much stock (all cute, all perfect) of kawaii/anime goods. Every big kawaii brand you can think, along with lesser known things. They also have a section of vintage anime toys. My bf and I ended up buying a very cool Rei figure from 1997 (still in box.) They also have a section of classic Asian/Japanese culture goods that is equally as impressive and cute as the more modern stuff. Additionally, the staff was so exceptional and lovely. The woman running the place made us feel so welcome and special, I ended up tearing up once we left. This is definitely NOT near my house (1.5 hours away) but my bf and I will be back in the near future! Thank you for the wonderful experience, Little Japan! read more

Amazing place ! Me and my family love to visit this place over the weekend, gets a little busy but worth it.

My pals and I traveled 2 hours to visit this store! We were so excited, the line was socially distant for covid. The girl up allowing people in & out was super kind and knowledgeable to help with our questions. They provided gloves which was a first I've seen in stores and definitely well thought out to protect clients & items from germs. We were there for about an hour and just had about finished up seeing everything. This store has a lot to offer with some fairer prices then I've seen online. They also have a very wide array of blind boxes, gundam and other unique items. The way things were displayed in someways could definitely be better though. The store itself is 4/5!!! Unfortunately the rest of the customer service is what ruined the experience for us. We were going back and fourth on a few items we were uncertain about, an employee from the store approached me asking to take a bag of mine from ANOTHER store, which was not her property. Coming from a retail management background I could gather she believed my friends and I were stealing? We were followed through the store as we picked up a last few things and got on line. I recommend to offer your customers clear baskets or totes to shop items so we don't struggle it carry items even if you feel they're stealing or not. Maybe even implement a policy that you cannot bring in any bags from other stores ? Also better staff management on the floor to assist customers as they shop on busy weekends and keep a closer eye out for theft! Conversion goes up and LP goes down with having good coverage. We purchased our items and left with a bad impression. With poor customer service We felt we would rather spend the extra money and shop online :-/ read more

I went on a friday and there was a line to get in limiting the number of people allowed inside at once (which is understandable because of covid). The wait wasn't too long and the staff seemed nice enough. Don't expect Japan-Japan level service. (This is America lol.) I liked the variety and I was impressed that they sold Japanese-culture specific items. There are tons of knickknacks and it took me awhile to leave the store. I'm not super blown away by the supermarket part of mitsuwa (produce is cheaper at Chinese markets in my opinion) or the food court (because things get sold out so fast) but I would come back just for this store. read more

A lot of stuff to look at but honestly overpriced. You can find the same items on Ebay but for cheaper and in the same quality. Some of the employees are nice but beware of one of the female employees-- very rude. My first interaction with her, I spotted extremely small scraps of used wrapping paper that were unusable and about to be thrown away and I was interested in using it for my art project. I asked her if I can take them but she abruptly interrupted me and claimed that they were going to be used, and pushed the scraps to the side. On my recent visit, the place was PACKED. I was holding a drink with a cover and straw and took a sip, and immediately following she confronts me and touches me without my permission saying that drinks aren't allowed in the store. She quickly walks away. I respect the store rules but there were clearly so many other customers with visible and open beverages in their hands. I was about to leave the store when I see another woman take her bottled drink and drink out in the open. It upsets me how I feel like whenever I enter that store, she picks me out. I don't even know this person yet they make me feel unwelcome. I used to frequent this store a lot but with the treatment I'm getting, I don't think I'll be coming back for a while. read more

Drove two hours here with my friends. A woman who seemed to be higher up, had light brown hair. She approached my friend and asked to hold her bag from the other store she shopped at. She was so incredibly rude asking that, then proceeded to follow us. My friend was not doing anything that implied she was stealing. Poor customer service here. read more

Very fun store selling merchandise varying from anime keychains, poseable figures and statues, tokusatsu toys, a bit of Pokemon stuff, and Japanese home goods. I think some of the stuff is a little overpriced (small plastic Dragon Ball was something like 14 bucks) but the staff are helpful and friendly. They said their website is down, but I can call them and ask if they have something in stock and they'll take a picture of their relevant inventory. If it wasn't so far away I'd definitely come here more often. read more

Great little shop for all of your Japanese needs! Cute toys, stationery, dishes, and artwork. They also sell yukata and some furniture. I love going here because I am a fan of Totoro and anything Studio Ghibli. I have been shopping here for a few years now when I need to look for something unique or if I have a need for the right sized dish. You can have a lot of fun browsing the shop and their merchandise is very cute. Make sure to take the kids too! They would love it! read more

But 2 employees literally followed us around the store (not subtly either) as if we were going to steal something. That just feels uncomfortable and I won't come back here again.
