BOOKOFF in Industry City is dense with goodies! It's small but packs a punch with the variety of anime/manga properties. They have a wide selection of manga, video games, books, plushies, tchotchkes, and figurines. Also, the price is right - fair prices - and you can also sell to them. I will be back! It's located on the 2nd floor - the Loft. Since I visited over the weekend, the place was packed. So, if you go on a busy day, just remember to take your time looking through the display cases and shelves so you don't miss anything (or bump into people lol). read more

this place was like trinket heaven! It was so full of trinkets and really cute figures! Some stuff were overpriced but if you search around theres some good figures and stuff in the dollar section for cheap. The workers are also very helpful and nice help you find whatever you need from any anime. I would definitely visit again. read more

I have to say this is a great addition to Industrial City. Located on the 2nd floor from the Japanese Mart. If you're looking for affordable Japanese anime figures. This would be the spot! They have aisles and aisles of misc 2nd hand figs that you can hunt for. I can see myself spending hours here looking for that one thing I need. It can get a little hectic since it's a bit small but, on a slow day it's a place where you can treasure hunt! If figs aren't your thing they have collectible cards, keychains, high end stats, posters, you name it! Definitely recommend to come check out this place if you need to fill your room with collectibles and what nots! read more

Manga! 2nd location of Japanese book /anime super fan collectibles store, now in Industry City. Awesome figurines, collectibles, Manga, Japanese video games, books, Funko Pops, keychains, etc. of your favorite anime. The store is on the small side, but packed tightly with merchandise. One large wall filled with Funko. For those die-hard fans looking for something specific, do keep in mind that this is a small store, but it is in Industry City so there are plenty of other shops and foods to check out. Book-Off only takes up a small portion of the 2nd floor. The rest of the floor is for other businesses that will be opening up in the future. Book-Off is Japan's largest successful new and used books chain, founded in 1991. They have almost 900 stores, worldwide. They will pay you cash for your old books, dvd's or video games. Location: You can enter through Sunrise Mart, then go through the other doors right across. Look to the right, there are elevators and a flight of stairs. Book-Off is on the second floor. No comparison to the Manhattan version (maybe not even fair to compare- the Brooklyn store is just a corner of the floor and their merchandise selection is a much pared down version of the Manhattan store.) Bookoff has been a great place to sell your no longer needed things- I wanted to sell a Japanese Switch game that I had bought while in Japan. The Manhattan branch no longer accepts Japanese games so if you want to sell, you'll need to go to this location. The staff member that helped me was very efficient and conducted the transaction very quickly. Very easy! read more

My husband and I love to shop at used book stores. There are so many great books at affordable prices at Bookoff.

Weebs and Otakus rejoice! Book-Off has great prices for all anime collectors. They have open box and new statues, pins, clothing, video games (legacy and current), cards, toys, and of course books. Almost everything you can see with your eyes is on sale. They have a massive collection of statues and books which would take you hours to maybe the entire day to comb through, depending on your dedication. My only gripe is the aisles are small so try not to cosplay as your favorite character as you will be knocking things down or bumping into other people. read more

Visited on multiple occasions. Staff is friendly and the selection is fun to browse. Main issue is pricing. Customers seek stores like these for deals on used merchandise from franchises they love. Many of the items are priced at or above prices you would find from eBay scalpers. The gashapon keychains tend to have base prices of $5 ($3 for heavily used or damaged) If they lowered these prices by even $2 their inventory would FLY off the shelves. One section they have right is the $1 cards. ITS EASY to walk out of this store with a stack of collectible or vintage yu-gi-oh/Pokémon cards! LOVE THIS! Figures/statues? Forget it. Scalper pricing. Look elsewhere. It's fun because I can browse, take a picture and search elsewhere for a good deal. Retro games, manga, funkos, and hard-to-find posters / mini folders and ichiban kuji all over! Do some digging and you'll find some interesting stuff! Overall: this store is worth a visit (best if you have a day off during the week to avoid crowds at industry city) I'm VERY happy to have a store like this so close to where I live even if some of the pricing makes me sad! I wrote a very positive review of the Book-Off store on 45th Street in Manhattan. I only gave it three stars, but that was primarily because of the nature of how they have their merchandise. If you're looking for a specific item, Book-Off is not for you. But if you enjoy the thrill of the hunt, discovering items you didn't know existed, etc., you'll love Book-Off. So I was excited to learn they were opening a new location in Brooklyn. It's actually further away from where I live than the Manhattan store is - it's about a 90-minute subway ride, one way. But still... a new Book-Off meant potentially new material. One thing about Book-Off, at least for me, is that it's not the kind of store you can go to every day, because you'll just keep seeing the same things over and over and over again, and you might get discouraged. It's just the nature of that kind of a store. This being opening weekend (I went on 2/26/22, their third day of operation), there was a long line of customers waiting to get in. I waited 28 minutes before I was allowed in - the space is small, and only 25 people could be in there at any one time. Even with that, the place was crowded. So, like I said, I had to wait 28 minutes to get in. In my review of the Manhattan store, I wrote that my main interest was DVDs, and that's what I was hoping to find in Brooklyn. They had none. I walked out after five minutes, and I only stayed that long because of the "investment" I had put in (the time waiting on line). If you're into manga, Japanese figures, and stuff of that nature, I'm sure you'll like it. But if you're like me in the sense that you don't go to Book-Off for that kind of material, you just want DVDs and CDs - don't bother. You'll only be wasting your time and you'll leave disappointed. For you, as it is for me, stick with the store on 45th Street in Manhattan. read more

Tried to buy a game here that was priced at $9. Came up to the front to buy it and they decided they had marked it wrong and wanted to charge me double. If something is marked at one price then this store should step up and honor that price. Shameful behavior from this place. Definitely won't be coming here again and will spread the word about how insincere this place has become. read more
