Earl Grey Cold Brew and White Mocha!
Matt R.

Located in the space of Serious Pie before 11 am, it's a nice place to grab coffee. Stayed across the street for the Slow Pulp concert. I got the Earl Grey cold brew and she got a White Mocha. Both were good. Lovely place if you're downtown!

Everything in the pastry case looks absolutely amazing! I had to settle on a veggie quiche due to jaw pain- but I'd love to come back and explore the menu. I also ordered a latte and added caramel and blackberry- which turned out better than I would have anticipated.

Coconut Cream Pie

I love coconut so this was a must try for me while in Seattle. The cream was extremely fluffy and light with shreds of coconut mixed throughout. I love that the pie was not overly sweet or heavy and that the coconut flavor could shine through.

Came to Dahlia Bakery for their special ube mango Swiss roll (got 4 lol) and also ended up getting a mortadella sandwich with garlic aioli, a quiche, and an earl grey donut too! The ube mango Swiss roll was so good and had the perfect balance of flavors - not too sweet. But the sandwich?! I literally had to go back for another one bc it was that good lol. The employees were also super friendly and welcoming. Definitely coming back to try more of their stuff!

Got the egg and cheese sandwich and added sausage. This is one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Oh my gosh it's good! The sauce is amazing. So glad we happened upon this place! Just visiting but id love to come back!

Coconut cream pie slice

I don't see what all the fuss is about but my husband liked the food. The coconut cream pie is so bland and we both agreed on that. I had two cookies that were hard as a rock and the everything was inedible (I gave it to a homeless man outside) We had the quiche which was ok, the pancetta was so overpowering that's all I tasted. We also got a breakfast sandwich which was ok. Nothing special. Staff was super nice and the place was clean so I can say that.

Cinnamon rolls are bomb

Cinnamon rolls. That's all you really need to know - get them, warm them up until they are buttery ooey gooey and eat. Return for seconds, bring some home. They also have mochi donuts and other pastries but I fell in love with the cinnamon rolls. Inside has plenty of seating and the staff is friendly. Prices are standard. Wish I lived closer!

pistachio Burrata Foccacia Sandwich

i've been sleeping on dahlia's which is so upsetting because it's so yummy. it took me like 5 minutes to decide what i wanted because everything looked so delish. do I do sweet or savory? breakfast or lunch? sooo many choices. Their cinnamon rolls looked amazing with the perfect decadent amount of frosting but so did the sprinkle cookies. The staff was kind and welcoming and patient wth me with my delay in decision making. I have so many things that I need to go back and try, most likely with a group, so I can try lots of things. They do lots of specialty items, depending on the day which is a fun way to spice up their menu. I ended up going with the burrata focaccia sandwich which came with burrata, roasted bing cherries, pistachio butter, balsamic, arugula, and sea salt focaccia. SOOOO yummy. Great sandwich, and I am so glad that they did lunch items early in the AM. The cherries were such a unique addition to the sandwich but worked well, and they were also representative of the local area (Rainier Cherries). I wish that there was flaky salt on the bread. I didn't get much salt flavor wise, even though is says sea salt focaccia. The focaccia bread was soft which is my preference for focaccia. Sometimes burrata texture can be weird, but this one was smooth, creamy, and perfect texture.

Bacon Egg Sandwich

One of my favorite breakfast sandwiches in the city and a great way to start the day! Large seating area and they also do wood fire pizza

sausage egg and cheese sandwich

I'd ordered the breakfast sandwich from here, but received the sausage egg and cheese sandwich instead, so that's the one I'll review. The bread, coming in as a kind of sourdough English muffin, is incredible. This might be the best English muffin buns I've ever had as part of a breakfast sandwich. They were the perfect sourdough - toasted really well, super airy, just the perfect amount of crispiness. I could eat this bread all day if I had the choice. Another couple things that were great - the egg, and the cheese. The egg was perfectly cooked, being super soft. The American cheese also melded in beautifully. What was a little disappointing was the sausage patty. While the maillard reaction on the outside was shown by it being a deep brown, the inside just wasn't my favorite. It tasted a little dry. Some other things - like vegetables - on this sandwich would've gone a long way in increasing flavor diversity I also got a couple of the pastries here. They're especially famous for their triple coconut cream pie, which I got a bite of. Surprisingly, I wasn't a huge fan of this. It was fine, but it pretty much didn't have a crust, meaning the only thing you really have to anchor to are shavings of coconut - since everything else is just cream. It tastes a bit like if you squirted whipped cream into a bowl, and mixed it with some coconut flavorings. Which is still good, but it's not really a pie. The coconut flavor is very strong though The salted caramel mocha cheesecake was interesting. While the crust of the cheesecake and general taste was good, there was just no salted caramel flavor at all. Also, the mocha was just too strong and ended up overpowering the cheesecake flavor itself - I had to take that part off The total came out to be around $35 for my three items. While I think the sandwich is an ok deal, and $6 for the bite is on the high side but fine, over $10 for the cheesecake feels like a lot. I should note: after letting them know of the wrong order they were very generous with the next steps. Incredible hospitality there. Overall, it's good breakfast food, but don't know if the pastries are quite worth the hype. 7.5/10

Breakfast Burger

Stopped by when they opened. There was a little confusion because Google hours say 7 AM, but the bakery opened at 7:30am. But the line moved pretty fast and service was prompt. I ordered the breakfast burger. It was very tasty and savory. There is a lot of indoor seating and their restaurant is clean. They had a lot of sweet treats and bakery items that I want to come back and try.

I'm back! ...for more of their Oh Mochi cake doughnuts. The texture of these is polarizing, you either love'em or hate'em, and I'm a lover. Most people seem to think mochi donuts should only be the pon de ring type which is super frustrating! I'm certain this has to do with personal preferences and expectations, so hoping to put this out there to prevent misconceptions. THESE ARE CAKE DONUTS. Again. THESE ARE CAKE DONUTS. In red font, bold, caps. Triple underlined. NOT the light and airy, slightly chewy pon de ring style donuts that are served at every other mochi donut establishment. Though those are good in their own right too. So temper your expectations accordingly! If you are not a fan of cake donuts and the denser texture of traditional mochi, then step away now. To elaborate, the special part about these cake donuts are that they are in between an American cake donut, and the texture of traditional Japanese mochi or Hawaiian butter mochi. Meaning--they are denser, they are still the slightest bit chewy but more in the vein of a teeny tiny bounce. I also like that unlike pon de ring donuts which are generally the same flavor dough with different frosting, these cake donuts have different flavored dough. Their seasonal flavors vary and this visit I ordered a chocolate espresso donut and a maple pumpkin donut ($4.50 each), another in my party also ordered an almond croissant. The chocolate donut balanced the rich chocolate dough with the slight bitterness from the coffee in the frosting and was not too sweet. The maple pumpkin flavor was good though a little on the sweeter side, definitely recommend a cup of coffee with it. I tasted a bite of the almond croissant ($5.50?) and it was very almond-forward, tasted like almond extract was added to punch up the cream inside. Ok I've said my spiel--no matter what the ratings are for the rest of Dahlia Bakery, these are one of only a couple places that I know of coast to coast that do mochi cake donuts well. Really hope they keep these around so next time I'm in Seattle, I can come enjoy these tasty treats again!

Coconut Cream Bite

I used to go to Dahlia Bakery a lot when I visited Seattle more often. My favourite item being the Dahlia Donuts. After several years, I visited Dahlia Bakery again and noticed they had expanded into the space next door (Serious Pie) where the tables could be used for dining-in during the mornings. I liked having this extra space. We picked up a couple things: - Coconut Cream Bite: Good. Classic, and continues to be good. - Dahlia Donuts: OK. Clearly dealing with shrinkflation, because they are roughly half the size they used to be a few years ago. The vanilla mascarpone continues to impress. - Joe's Hash: OK. I like the ingredient combination, but it wasn't as good as I remember. Service is pretty standard for a bakery set-up. I was satisfied with my food, but it's not as good as I remember. I might come back to try some of their newer, more popular items (like the mochi donuts), but no longer crave the Dahlia Donuts

My two girlfriends and I split the hash brown, bacon, egg and cheese piroshky, which was the right call. It's hearty enough that a third each was a solid snack to get something in our stomachs before a morning of caffeine. It's exactly as advertised and delicious. The pastry is soft and the filling is generous, with plenty of bacon and hash browns in every bite. It ran a little salty for my taste, but I'd chalk that up to how much bacon they pack in rather than a flaw in the recipe. The best endorsement I can give is that we went back again the next morning.

I got a few items on the list: their classic beef and cheese, chicken curry and rice Piroshky, and their bacon egg and cheese Piroshky. The food came out literally within a minute as they were coming out quickly, the ambiance was fast pace, take your order move to the next person, get your food and pay! I thought the bacon egg and cheese one was okay, the chicken curry and rice was pretty darn good, but the classic beef and cheese, mmmmmm you just can't say no. They have so many yummy options, but I settled on a mushroom and Gruyère pastry and an earl grey blueberry cruffin. The mushroom and Gruyère pastry was SO good!!! We ate it the day after and threw it in the air fryer for a couple of minutes, and it was so delicious. The cruffin was huge! Topped with a delicious light Earl grey cream that wasn't too sweet. It was filled with a blueberry cream and was definitely very filling. There's a lot of sugar coating it, as is standard with cruffins, but it's a nice sweet treat. It's good enough to eat by itself, or makes a wonderful base for sandwiches. This is definitely a bread to savor. The cinnamon roll has almost caramelized raisins inside, very unique. The cinnamon is balanced with the brown sugar so it's perfectly sweet. As for the dough, it's laminated so it's almost croissant-like and yet chewy and crisp at the same time. Delicious!

The soft serve itself is a really creamy and rich vanilla milk flavor. I would say it's closer to that Asian milk flavor if you know what I mean. I think the hojicha syrup is my favorite out of all the ones I've tried so far. It has a really nice roasty flavor and not something you can find at most other places. The matcha I would say is my second favorite. The flavor of the matcha syrup is definitely lighter compared to the hojicha but still is a nice compliment to the soft serve. The black sesame would be the lowest on my list out of the, all since I felt like the flavor was too nutty like it was a blend of sesame and potentially a nut.
