He's condescending and impatient. I sent out a request for quotes on 3,000 sqft of pavers on Yelp, asking for a rough estimate per sq.ft. I didn't respond for a day, maybe 2, and I received a few text messages at the rate spammers do and a few phone calls. We've never talked outside of the messages attached. All I said was I received a quote for $14/sqft from a person that actually saw the job site. He goes to berate and be condescending to others because their price is low so he assumes it's not possible to offer quality, when he has no idea about the other company. He's greedy because he thinks he's the only paver guy in the game. Hah! His tactic takes advantage of unaware home owners but if you're informed and have already gotten 3 quotes with a wide range and know exactly what I'm wanting, I and others must not know and what we're doing, only he does. If anyone is interested, message me and I'll give you the breakdown of how I was able to get $14 and the exact contract structure with Belgrade pavers + speciality large format Belgrade stones. For him to just quote $18/sqft, never seeing the condition that may require so much less work, and be defensive about my response just goes to show you the attitude you'll receive if you work with him. Response: It may not make sense to you but it makes sense to me to leave a response because of your condescending comment and feedback. Many people start off at $18 and then somehow dropped to $11 after looking at the project. Hhhmmm A professional response could have been: "That's lower than I can do. The best, one stop shop for all your landscaping needs. I received quotes from four different companies to completely redo my back yard. I went with D'Carmo, as the other companies could not provide a quote, or required that I purchase the pavers or organize the dumpster for the yard waste and did not understand that I wanted to have a yard installed. I had had D'Carmo install pavers a couple of years ago. They had been quick, efficient and did a great job. I trusted that Renato, and team, would provide exceptional service with quality materials. It was a rather large project. It involved installing about 500 sq ft of pavers, replacing the dirt in the entire back yard, removing and trimming trees, installing irrigation, installing a pergola, and additional fencing. They did our pathway in a HOA subdivision in Larkspur called Creekside. They replaced a DG (yucky, weedy, scratchy) path with Calstone Antique top pavers in a random pattern. This was a tricky one since the path is owned by the HOA (common area) and 5 adjacent homeowners kicked in to pay. I do not recommend to use this company, 1. They assure us that we do not need a permit. When the project was "finished" we were fined by the city, because there was not permit. 2. The owner of the company is not aware of the city ordinance's, hence I ended up to hire another contractor to remove some of the pavers this guy had laid there were not in accordance with the city requirements 3. this guy from the beginning was very rude, unprofessional and apparently has his own agenda. His primary concern was not customer service, but his desire to be paid. 4. When we were approached by the city, we reached out for assistance from him. Recently, D'Carmo did two separate projects for us, replacing (broken) wooden steps in our backyard with paver steps, and building a short (but wide) retaining wall. Since these were done so recently, I can't speak to their durability, but I have every reason to assume they'll be solid and long-lasting, and we are extremely pleased with how they look. (Regarding durability, I should mention that one of the steps was initially not put in carefully enough and part of it broke off soon after installation, but D'Carmo came out immediately and fixed it, and subsequently there's been no problem, and the steps have been well tested with lots of heavy foot traffic from a crew of fence workers.) If I could give D'Carmo four and a half stars I would, and the only reason for less than five is this: When they were working on the retaining wall, evidently they decided a particular plant was in the way of where they needed to stand, and without first talking with us, they simply ripped the plant out of the ground. Unfortunately, this happened to be a plant that I was very fond of, and I was quite sad to see what had happened to it. I have been searching for the right company to do my pavers for almost 5 months, in fact I had a contract with a company but had to cancel it because they changed the contract, one company told me that if they break something they don't fix it, We almost gave up. But then Michel showed up at our home. It was like what took us so long to find D'Carmo Pavers. Michel told me when I asked if they break something they fix it. She also discussed items with us that none of the 9 previous companies discussed, for instance were were told we could have an accent strip for a border around our pavers....Her initial estimate was a bit higher than our budget but she worked with us and we signed on keeping our fingers crossed. We haven't had much luck in the recent past dealing with contractors in general. D'Carmo was able to start our job at an earlier date , and they finished a few days earlier than we expected. The owner was on the job frequently instructing the staff and on the first day he walked me through the process, he noticed some things that I didn't and told me how he would solve the problem.....our pavers are even better than what we could imagine. I am not an easy person to please, but we are fair and we honor our agreement and we expect the same in return. We had a vacant side yard that had turned into a nightmare of a weed yard that would "bloom" in January when I finally decided to get it paved by Renato who was extremely responsive and gave me a very fair quote considering his reputation and the quality of his crew members. It took only two days not including the delivery of the pavers and the porta potty (seriously, this is something I look for after having a terrible experience with another "contractor" whose oversized men would occasionally request the use of our bathroom and leave an egregious odor). They first neatly placed their equipment and workers ports-potty up so neatly that I could still use my driveway as well as street parking. Took out the existing grass and prepped the area. After inspection of firsts day work, I noticed an irrigation pipe broken. I have at least 5 landscape companies gave me estimates for my 2000sq ft frontyard and backyard project. Renato seems to be the most knowledgeable person on my project, such as grading, demolition of old concrete, overlay, fitting around my existing patio posts and etc. He also quoted me a very reasonable price for the project. While other landscaper wanted three to four weeks to finish the project, Renarto took 6 days (including demolition) to finish my 2000 sqft project! There are always 5 to 6 workers on site, and they clean up at end of the day everyday. They even power wash my existing driveway after they finish the project. Renato is the one who do the final inspection, and to my surprise, he sees imperfections (that I don't see) and promise to order extra Pavers to fix it. I have had various remodeling and landscape works done in my current and previous houses, and none of them can match the services, quickness, and perfection that Renardo does.
