We worked with Landscape Experts Inc (LEI) to revitalize our wild yard, cutting back swaths of overgrowth and transforming it with a variety of beautiful California native plants and nine fruit trees. They also carved out a lovely hillside with custom stairs, a spacious terrace, and game trails perfect for enjoying the view. LEI works with YesPlease.Garden (YPG) who managed the design process and Fresh Coat Restoration who completed the new fence. The partnerships were well integrated and it felt like working with a single team. See my Google Maps review for more on YPG. We are very happy with our project and would recommend LEI because they were professional, courteous, reliable, and provided clear and upfront pricing. Documenting decisions in writing proved helpful for keeping everyone on the same page. Any problems we had were resolved fairly, such as correcting the direction of our stairs. Aaron is a man of his word but prefers to conduct most of his business through texting. We first contacted LEI and they promptly scheduled a time to visit our property with YPG to see what was possible within the budget we set out. We completed the design with YPG and LEI scheduled a time for the project demolition. A later approximate time for planting was set, but that was dependent on the availability of the various plants we had selected. My wife and I are in love with our yard again, and we are very happy with the work Aaron and his crew did. After deciding to remove our pool, we hired Aaron as the installer for our new landscape project, and we are so glad we did. For months, work was moving forward almost every day, from demolition prep and grading to hardscape, planting, irrigation, lighting, fencing, pergola installation, pebble work, and the finishing touches. The quality of the work was excellent throughout. The paver patio, carport, and front entry all turned out beautifully, and the plants, irrigation, and lighting were installed with great care. We were especially impressed by the rock and pebble work, particularly the dry creek and front mow strip. The mix of stone sizes gave everything a natural, detailed, and polished look that really elevated the final result. Aaron also has a strong eye for detail. He regularly caught things that needed adjustment, even when we had not noticed them ourselves, and he stayed focused on getting everything right. While there were some issues that delayed finishing the project, Aaron took responsibility and worked with us to make them right, which we truly appreciated. We recently decided to renovate our landscaping, and Landscape Experts Inc. (LEI) and YesPlease.GARDEN Landscape Design (YPG) agreed to take on our project (see my Google review of YPG). Aaron was thoughtful and responsive throughout the entire process. With years of expertise transforming properties throughout the greater Tri-Valley area, we knew that we could trust LEI to provide a high quality of workmanship. His team (Emilio, Raul, and others) replaced our front and side lawns, and bordering plant beds, with a rock garden designed by Cyn of YPG. They also refreshed our back lawn and bordering plant beds, and performed some repairs. For the front and side yards, this included: installing drip lines for the new drought-resistant plants; replacing existing low-voltage lighting and wiring; planting trees with root barriers; adding contouring to the previously flat yard; adding boulders and several tons of rocks and pebbles; upgrading smart irrigation controller; and installing lighting transformer with Wi-Fi programmable switch. For the backyard, this included: dethatching, reseeding, and fertilizing remaining lawn; repositioning rock border of perimeter plant beds for improved aesthetic balance; replacing some plants, and a windmill palm tree; replacing drip irrigation lines and lighting throughout plant bed; replacing mulch with rocks to match front and side yards; repairing wood rot on, then repainting, pergola; replacing wet-rated fan on pergola; and restoring fountain to working condition. As owner of several companies, including Gentile Construction and Discount Hauling and Demo, Aaron provides a seamlessly integrated suite of services. For homeowners who don't want the hassle of coordinating with separate contractors, and who want the peace of mind that things will get done efficiently, this is a big plus. I feel that Landscape Experts are quality, reliable landscapers headed by a very knowledgable, responsible, and friendly guy. I'd highly recommend them. This review is actually long overdue. My family used the services of California Yard Care, run by Aaron's father Tony, for many years. I did not personally do business with Tony but I was told that he was a guy who knew his stuff and who got things done - this is why my family continued to trust our landscaping to him and his crew. A few years ago, we were informed that Landscape Experts would begin taking responsibility for California Yard Care's clients. Aaron and Landscape Experts did not miss a beat after the transition. The quality of service remained as high as ever. We've come to take for granted our well-trimmed lawns, our healthy and shapely shrubbery (shrubberies??), our clipping-and-leaf-free yard, and our working irrigation system. When some concrete work was pushed up by some roots, Landscape Experts was able to take on the job of trimming things back and repairing the damaged concrete. Over the years, a few questions and concerns have popped up in my mind (as they sometimes do). Each time, I've felt that my question and/or concern has been responded to and addressed in a timely and courteous manner. I've met and spoke with Aaron a few times, and each time has been a positive experience. He is knowledgable on all the plants on our property (I'm thankful for this, because I can hardly tell an oak from a redwood without my little brown book) and has consistently solved problems quickly, ranging from faulty irrigation timers to messed-up underground water lines. Had some work done on my backyard building a simple trellis and removing mulch and debris to prep it for lawn plugs. Aaron and his crew were great, able to take the job from phone call to completion in less than 24-hours with no issues. We identified a pipe leak underneath a tree in our front lawn. Aaron and his team at LE were referred to us and called in to originally just dig up and expose the leak. Aaron's crew performed the dig without issue making it through some tough roots. They exposed the leak and because the meter had to be shut off, they performed the leak repair on the spot. We avoided going without water in our home for at least a day and having to call in an actual plumber to complete the leak repair at who knows what cost. Aaron is extremely professional and over communicates on the status of the job, how his crew is doing and any costs incurred along the way. We live in a 30+ year old home and it's no surprise that we have some yard irrigation issues that require attention. Our neighbors were very pleased with the work that Landscape Experts did for them in the redesign of their backyard so we reached out to Aaron to see if his team could do the repairs needed in our yard. We had a broken irrigation drain line under our patio as well as a broken irrigation main line connecting to our valve manifold. We also had a new sump pump that needed to be installed to replace a failed unit. Aaron responded with a very reasonable quote and his team got to work within the week. They pulled the pavers to access and replace the broken drain line. The workers were meticulous in the cleaning of the pavers and took great care in re-laying the pavers so that the patio looks as good as it did before the repair. The team also installed the new sump pump and made sure it was working as expected, i.e., expelling water through the newly installed drain line. The team also laid a new main line connecting to the valve manifold. Again, the workers checked and double-checked that everything was operating as expected. More recently we had Landscape Experts come back to our house to repair a broken lateral line in our front yard. Raoul took care of this within two hours (required a good amount of digging and repairs to several connectors and lines). Raoul was one of the workers on the first job and we were confident he would do a great job on these repairs, too ... and he did! Aaron is very good about following up to ask if everything is okay and working as expected. He clearly wants his customers to be satisfied with his team's work. I am pleased to say that all the repairs were done to our complete satisfaction. Based on our experience with Aaron and his team I highly recommend Landscape Experts. They removed all of the old vegetation, removed the unruly redwood roots from the neighbors redwood trees that had completely damaged our old backyard patio, added new grass, decomposed granite pathway, mulch, handmade raised wooden garden boxes for our new vegetable garden, planted all of our new plants and trees, set up everything on a new sprinkler and drip system to save water, and replaced the old patio with a new flagstone patio. Aaron and his team did a complete backyard renovation for us last year and we are still impressed with the quality of work and attention to detail they put into the project. From start to finish, working with them was a dream. The communication was excellent, Aaron was present on-site first thing each morning to make sure everyone was on the same page and every detail was being handled carefully, and every member of his team was super nice and professional. In addition to doing an amazing job of the complete remodel they were hired for including turf, concrete, plants, lighting, irrigation, and fence installation, they went above and beyond for us fixing some things that had been done incorrectly by others in the past. They squared-up our pergola, finally resolved a slow drip from a strange pipe on the exterior of our garage wall near our water heater, suggested and installed an extra water fixture near our driveway for easy car washing, straightened the masonry on our fire pit, and re-installed the previously poorly-done gas line to the fire pit fire to the proper specifications. While completing the backyard project, Aaron structured the electrical and irrigation with our pending front yard project in mind so that we're set up and ready to go when we're ready to move forward. Amazing service, really listen to the client. I mentioned a problem with the ground squirrels coming under my 100+ foot back fence so they added a barrier 2 feet down to prevent them from coming in! Asked if they could add some support to one section of side fence that is over 30 years old and had begun rotting at the bottom, they did the whole length of fence! I have a fairly large yard yet they completely covered the whole yard with weed cloth. They moved large boulders from my front to back yard, replaced a planting bed with exposed aggregate and spread mulch & river rock throughout the planting areas. All in addition to adding a drip system for the entire yard, planting all new plants selected at Armstrong Nursery and laying sprinklers and sod for a small lawn. In addition, we added the plant removal as an extra job for our yard. The workers were exceptional, extremely hard working, very careful with our irrigation and electrial and very diligent. They also made sure to clean up after their work and did a fabulous job installing the plants and checking all the irrigration for the new plants.
