The food. The most flavorless burger I have had in a while. Tasted my friend's pizza, and that was also uninspired. Cute place.

Came here for a friend's birthday on Saturday around 3. It was still hot, but by 5 when it cooled down, it was the perfect weather and such a great ambiance! At first I was expecting it to be more of a sandy bar set up, but was pleasantly surprised when I saw it was an outdoor restaurant with all of the tables and fans. It did get quite packed around 6- there was a wait. It did help that we did not have to wait for a table. Recommend coming during off hours! Mix of all people, young people and families. I usually don't like gulf oysters, but was pleasantly surprised. They were fresh and tasty. We enjoyed all of the pizzas we ordered- prosciutto with fig (what a great combo), artichoke, pepperoni with jalapeño. Campechana was also very tasty. Our kids also enjoyed the little playscape. YUM! Went to this spot with some girlfriends recently and I cannot wait to go back. The interior was so bright and fun. A huge outdoor patio with room for big groups on a nice day. I ordered the Alba Balloon Bread, Charr-grilled Parmesan oysters, beef bolognese pasta. The oysters were by far my favorite menu item!! I've never had charr-grilled oysters and these melted in your mouth. I will 100% be back to get these again! The beef bolognese was amazing, another dish I'd get on repeat. The balloon bread was fun as an appetizer but overall didn't "wow" me. The honey on top made it difficult to pull the bread apart and was just okay. The service was not the best - multiple times we had to flag down a waitress to come help and they were often times huddled at the bar talking. We waited a while for our check before we were able to get someone's attention. Regardless, this is a great spot that I'll add into the rotation! Be careful and review your receipts. The last two times we have went there, they have added phantom charges to our bill. The atmosphere/vibe is great (especially when the weather is nice or, if you have kids, generally). The food is also pretty good. The service could be better. But the biggest negative is their seemingly recent shady billing practices. Make sure you check your bill when closing out your orders. The first time they added an item to the bill that we didn't order, we chalked it up to an accident. But now, two times in a row a few weeks apart and on two different days of the week, we have had an added item that we didn't order reflected on the receipt. Both times we noticed it after we paid the bill (because the portable payment machine system the service staff hands you over while they wait for you to pay when closing out is difficult to review on the spot). read more

I've been here for dinner and brunch. For brunch I'd give 3 stars. For dinner, 5 stars. So I averaged it to 4 stars. Brunch dishes were mediocre. The salad sounded good but was the most disappointing. The Brussels sprouts dish was probably my favorite thing there. The sandwich was just nothing special. And I've had better chicken and waffles. The dishes I've tried at dinner are way better. I don't have pics of them but I'd recommend the pizza and pasta dishes. I liked my bolognese. And the mushroom pizza was pretty good too! Beautiful decor inside. I loved all of the different shapes, colors, designs, textures, tiles, light fixtures, and especially the little wall of the Texas flag. It was cohesively very attractive. (Props to whoever designed it!) I was craving a pizza at brunch so I opted for their wood-fired oven meat trio pizza. Though tasty, it wasn't as crispy as I wished it would be especially since it was made from a wood-fired oven. The dough was soft and I think what would have been more to my liking is if it was baked a little longer. I will need to specify that in the future because I do enjoy my crust a little firmer and crispier. The house-made waffles and confit chicken thigh was definitely the more popular dish. All of the flavors hit the spot and it was a good portion size. We sat inside and the only gripe I have are the pesky flies and gnats that accompanied our brunch that day. It made the experience unpleasant and I hope it gets rectified because I noticed there was another table who shared the same frustration as well. read more

We came here on a Tuesday night because it was near somewhere else we needed to be. Overall, it's very serviceable and if I lived nearby, I'd probably be here a lot. It's got a wonderfully nice and calm patio with plenty of seating. The crowd was family oriented and young professionals. The food was fresh, well-presented and obviously made up of high quality ingredients. Taste wise, I can't say I came across anything crave-able or memorable. Service was leisurely and slow to start, but sped up once our food started coming out. The salad was good. The Spinach dip was not creamy enough for my particular palate and the pizza was an A-/B+. I can't say I'd make the drive from the lower half of the loop to come again, but if we ever made the move to Garden Oaks, I'd have no problem making it a regular spot. read more

So after multiple recommendations, I joined some friends to eat dinner at D'Albas on Friday night. The food was somewhat unremarkable but the service and ambiance was awesome. I had the baby spinach salad and it was good, but at the price point I'm not sure I'll be returning for salads (oh added the shrimp making a pricey salad). They had a blue crab campechana on the menu that was tasty. But I prefer something with more seafood than sauce in it. Such a great neighborhood spot! We came here for a girls lunch and shared a couple of apps and an entree. We got the hummus and Brussel sprouts to start. The hummus was so good with the pine nuts and herb EVOO! Def gave it some additional depth and flavor. Also came with a generous amount of pita bread. The Brussel sprouts had great flavor with the maple vinaigrette, candied pecans and pickled shallots. Def get this dish if you're a fan of Brussel sprouts! For the entree, we shared the metaldini pasta dish with a beef bolognese sauce and black pepper whipped ricotta. Major pluses also included great service and an amazing outdoor patio to enjoy your meal. Come check them out if you haven't been to d'Alba! This was my first time here-- have been eager to try this place as I have two little ones and it's hard to find a restaurant with a playground that's not rendered completely useless by a storm the night before (*cough* Preslee's *cough*). The ambience was nice outside! We didn't go inside so I cannot speak to that. The playground was great for the kids, and there were small tables with benches for them as well. I wasn't impressed with the food. I ordered the Falcon Lakes Burger and the kids got the tenders and PB&J. All of this was solidly average-- the PB&J was pretty unique in that it had orange jelly (marmalade?). I will say that I was pretty impressed with the kids' portion sizes, so that's a plus. The burger was a bit bland in my opinion. I am realizing now that I passed over a lot of the popular dishes, so I'm hoping to come back and give the food another chance, as I have heard people rave about this place. If the food received a C, the service received a C-. We ordered using a QR code, which I'm totally cool with. We also had the ability to self-serve water, silverware, and to-go boxes. When the food came out, the server pretty much just put the plates down and peaced out -- didn't ask us if everything looked okay or if we needed anything. I'm all about reducing unnecessary interactions and cutting small talk, but I think that the line between not bugging your customers and completely neglecting them is quite well-defined. This was my only interaction with a server (there were others in the area who didn't even acknowledge our existence or make eye contact) during the time we were there and it wasn't rush hour, it was a 3:00 lunch, so I'm not really sure what the deal was. Again, totally cool with reduced interactions, but not cool with a complete lack of politeness. Overall, will likely be coming back to give the food another go and to utilize the play area. I like the concept of this place, with the play area for kids while adults can enjoy a meal as well. However, I just had their bolognese pasta yesterday, which has caused some food poisoning. My friend who isn't sensitive to food, said the same thing about their bolognese pasta, how it upset her stomach. She got the bolognese pasta a year ago, and it's apparently an issue. I'm not sure if it's because they let their meat sit out for too long, but this isn't just a one time incident. I like this place but I have to knock out yet another type of food to order from this place. They don't have a lot of offerings that don't have dairy in it. And dairy doesn't give me food poisoning symptoms. I just have an intolerance to dairy where it makes me tired. Anyway, be weary of the bolognese. I'm definitely not ordering their bolognese again. WOW! Just left this place after our first visit and we were so impressed! We expected a wait on a Saturday night but were quickly seated inside with the friendliest waitress, Amelia. She provided excellent service and was happy to give great suggestions and opinions when we couldn't quite decide. The atmosphere was beautiful and we can't wait to come back and sit on the patio when it's a little cooler (although they have a ton of fans). We tried four cocktails, all were delicious and balanced (Mezcalitahh, Garden Party, Frozen Cosmo, and Just beet it). For food we started with the Balloon Bread which was so fun and had such a unique flavor. We split the bolognese and the artichoke pizza and YALL. That bolognese was a showstopper. I will dream of that bolognese until I return and can order it again. The flavor was so unique and truly unlike any bolognese we've ever had. The pizza was also a hit, we loved the fresh flavors. We finished up with a cookie and ice cream which was the perfect small dessert and then sat in absolute satisfaction on our drive home. I came to D'Alba after a workout with a buddy and there was a wide array of attire but I didn't feel underdressed in my leggings and jacket. We got a couple drinks to start then got a prosciutto pizza (thumbs up but could use a little sauce), the bolognese which for me was the standout and the confit chicken which I was disappointed by--I felt it lacked some flavor (maybe salt??) and to call something confit you expect a crunch. Drinks were good. my complaint: we sat on the tables outside, the ones where it was a chair on one side and a bench on the other. I soon noticed that there was dog hair every where. On the cushions, on the table, on the chairs, everywhere. I have nothing against furrys, but I had dog hair all over my pants and shirt and had to shower and wash my clothes when I got home. I even ended up having some on my food because it was on the table. Not sure why the hair was not cleaned up by the furry owners or the staff. Came in for lunch and was pleased to find a menu that included brunch items on a Saturday. We took full advantage with a d'Alba breakfast plate ordered, a bubble bread option and a shareable order of brussel sprouts. The breakfast plate was impressive with eggs your way, the crispiest fried potatoes, bacon and a huge muffin. The bubble bread was a fabulous treat featuring a pita like bread heated up and inflated, whipped ricotta (fantastic light and creamy), prosciutto and a seasonal jam, today an apricot version. The combination of warm and cool, sweet and creamy and salty was sublime. The brussel sprouts were flavorful though the pecans didn't appear to be candied as advertised. This is definitely a hip lively restaurant. The patio was so cute but unfortunately it's 1,000,000° outside so we decided to sit indoors. We had just come from a small, quaint wine bar so the first thing I noticed was it it was so loud, and there were so many children. Definitely a good place for families with young children. But since my friend and I are off for the summer, we were not really wanting that kind of vibe. We ordered a round of drinks instead of staying for food. This is such a cute spot to grub and catch up with someone! I came here with a friend to catch up. There is limited parking in the actual lot next to the restaurant itself but there was an extended parking lot if you drive around the corner. They have plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor seating looked super cute but because of the heat when I came, I wanted to sit indoors. Service was amazing. Our server was very friendly and attentive to us. She was quick to refill out waters and also made sure we were happy. I highly recommend the balloon bread for the appetizer to share. Our server had told us it was a popular shareable appetizer, and it was definitely worth trying! It has a hint of sweetness in it, which I really liked. I also recommend getting the ravioli for the entree. Just be warned that it does have a bit of a spicy kick with the chili oil on top. It's such a unique dish that I've never had before. Why 5 stars? Because things were hectic but delicious. --- --- --- 3 parents trying to enjoy a delicious brunch. 2 toddlers wanting to play, sometimes dangerously. What could go wrong? When we first arrived here with a friend and her 2-year old, along with our 3-year old, the only way to describe the scene was: hectic. We wanted to come here because we had the kids with us and there was an actual playground at the restaurant. Everybody wins! I overheard the hostess telling the people in front of me that seating in the playground area is first-come, first-served, so I headed back there and was surprised to find a couple of tables unclaimed. When we saw the rest of the patio and the amount of cars parked in the street, we assumed we were in for a long wait. And not only did we find our table easily, but most of our food came out incredibly quickly. Oddly, my wife's salad took significantly longer than everything else, but we'll chalk that up to bad luck. Our friend was lovely enough to order me my own serving of oysters, which were solid. I ended up ordering the following for my entree: fresh baked balloon bread, american prosciutto, whipped ricotta, truffle honey, seasonal jam. I would just call this by name, but the menu doesn't really have names. It's just called that. And I was under the assumption that it was pizza. But it really wasn't pizza, it was bread with prosciutto, honey and ricotta. However, despite my expectations differing from reality, I really enjoyed this. Like, *really* enjoyed it. I also couldn't resist ordering brussels sprouts, as they were the #1 highlight on Yelp. And they were a hit at the table. As for the chaos that is trying to enjoy a nice brunch while watching your kids - I don't recommend it. I would much prefer focusing on one of those things and then the other one later. Toddlers are wild beasts who have no respect for anything other than what they want at that given second. And when you put like 30 of them in a small playground area, things get a little hairy. And then factor in a full bar about 20 feet from the playground itself and then all sanity is out the window. But that's our fault for procreating. The food here is seriously great. So glad we (my fam) decided to try some place new. Found this little gem in the neighborhood. We didn't want to have to get dressed up, we didn't want to pay crazy prices, we needed a place with a variety of menu items bc we never agree and we needed cocktails! D'Alba was perfect! We had the bolognese, the angel hair pasta which I think had mussels and a pizza. Oh and a slice of cake for dessert. Everything was very tasty and fresh. What I'm most impressed with is my food wasn't served cold. Yes finally!! We sat outside to enjoy the weather before it gets too hot out. They have a good size patio. Pretty interchangeable with any other upscale brunch/instagram/pizza dropped into a heights neighborhood that used to be bungalows and is now rows of blank townhouses. The VFW across the street has a phantom jet outside which is much more interesting. Celebrated a friend's birthday here last week and it was so fun! The food was delicious and ambiance was great! I split the Proscuitto pizza and it was one of the best pizzas I've had! Our server was super nice and attentive. Only complaints were that our group of 10 was split into 2 tables, but we pulled up extra chairs and made it work! We had a delicious dinner here. My wife and I prefer no cheese on a pizza due to her lactose intolerance. We ordered the spicy pepperoni pizza, balloon bread, and shrimp and crab campechana. The campechana was so light and delicious. The chips were fresh made and perfectly crunchy paired with the cool and slightly sweet crab and shrimp. The balloon bread had a green churn brush on top and was so good we thought about ordering another. The pizza was delicious and paired with the hot honey, we were full and satisfied when finished. Great experience! Walking in I felt like I was on vacation. I loved everything from the light and airy decor to the band playing throwback 90/00s songs. As an appetizer we got the shrimp and crab campechana. Very fresh and light- would recommend. For entrees we ordered the breakfast pizza and confit chicken with waffle. Both dishes were good although I would have preferred fried chicken vs confit chicken. The pizza was delicious but I'm not sure if I would order it again. In terms of drinks we ordered a carafe of passion fruit mimosas and you could barely taste the passion fruit. I ended up ordering the elderflower mimosa instead and that was super delicious. Ambiance: Great vibes here especially during happy hour. The patio setting is comfortable, spacious, and adorable. Loved that there are heaters at every table for the cold winter months so that we can still enjoy fresh air. After happy hour is when many more families with children started coming in. It is a very family friendly place which is great for parents! Was not our personal vibe once kids started running around the patio. That is when we headed out. Still love the place for happy hour and am glad that families have such a cool spot to enjoy!! Service: The service is top notch! I loved that before happy hour ended the server stopped by our table to make sure we could put a final order in. Very nice and attentive staff. Food & Drinks: Loved the Alba Red Mule cocktails! This place is a fantastic addition to the area, offering excellent Italian cuisine, great cocktails, all in a casual all inclusive environment. More on the environment.. They have a very nice interior dining area for those looking to date night it up, or have a more formal meal in general. Outside there's a large well designed patio with various tables, booths, outdoor tv's etc. for some good weather bites with friends. Beyond that patio seating, they also have an entire section that's a family friendly outdoor playground, with picnic table seating options, so families can come out to eat as well. Genius! No one is left out, and in our visit it all seemed to work between the various spaces. The food is nothing to overlook as well. They have a wide variety of Italian options, the most popular being their wood fired pizzas. We had the Prosciutto pizza, planning on taking a portion home, but it was so good we ate it all in one sitting. Beyond the pizzas, there's raw and char broiled oysters, a very popular charcuterie board, hand made pastas, salads, sandwiches, and a handful of entrée proteins. Those of you with dietary restrictions will be happy to find multiple dishes that cater to gluten, no carb, vegan, and other specific diets, so again, all inclusive seems to be the theme. Service was fast and friendly in our most recent visit, though they seem to be suffering from the same staff shortage everyone else is suffering from. I did notice they're offering higher than average pay for open roles, so here's hoping they find some talent to fill out the front and back of house. I love the atmosphere, very cute and intimate yet very chill for you to hang out with friends I loved our server, yeah, she was a little uncultured, but she was definitely trying! She was very attentive and gave us some great recommendations we ordered the Brussel sprouts, ragu pasta, and burger. Brussel sprouts were very greasy, but good flavor! I love those candied nuts. Ragu pasta was made very well. The noodles are just how i like them, with a nice bite, sauce was flavorful, portion was perfect to share! I think they are still working out the kinks and since it was just a soft opening and I was too excited to wait any longer: acceptable service and delicious food! Shout out to the Brussel Sprouts-ended up ordering more. Pasta, burgers and that pillow bread also got rave reviews from the table. I'm cutting them some slack since it's a soft opening.
