My experience with Crescent Movers was great and it started with Susan the person answering the phone. She was professional and knowledgeable and just had a very nice disposition. I gave her an accurate account of the items I would be moving when and where and I received a quote in about 20 minutes. The day before I received a call regarding the move to confirm and see if I had any major changes that would change the quoted price. On the day of the move the movers arrived a little late but it didn't bother me, my move was scheduled for 9-11 and they arrived at 930 and still I was out by 11, I had a 1 bedroom apt on the 4th flr. My entire move was done by noon!!!! They had gotten to my new place unpacked reassembled items they took apart and put things where they were labeled, ie basement bedroom kitchen etc. The only complaint was that I wish they had told me that they were going to have more people moving me, the paperwork said 3 but it was 5 guys so I didn't have enough money for all the tips, but I guess they worked it out. Not the best by far. I was actually recommended them through a coworker who used them and had a good experience. However, her move was a one bedroom apt. and mine is a 2 bedroom. Clearly this difference made a huge difference though I'm not sure why. Setting up and arranging was easy, they were polite and provided a great quote of $650 for 3 men for 5 hours of move of a 2 bedroom. This sounds great to me and I book. Day of move goes okay however they took a very slow time moving things downstairs, acted surprised I had a flight of stairs when I told them multiple times in the arrangements, and dropped several things one being an inherited framed tapestry from my grandmother. This would all be fine except when we got to my new location they were clearly exhausted (2 of them are not in "moving guys shape") and almost irritated they had to finish the job. Like...that's literally what I am hiring the service for. However, what really tipped the scales was by the end, because it took them 2 hours longer than anticipated they doubled the price to a bit over $1200 and then had the audacity to ask if I was going to tip! I was, and had the money ready but how dare you flat out ask for it! To add insult to injury after they left and I tipped I found the broken tapestry. Additionally, they put heavy boxes on breakables and though I inventoried and labeled each box with the room it should go in they threw them literally in the almost opposite direction. The littlest mover, was the best. He was friendly, professional and darn strong for being so small. He worked his butt off and if I could've given everything to him I would have. Asking them about the tapestry I inquired if I should go through my insurance or theirs. They suggested theirs and then led me on a goose chase for a week before reverting back and saying I should go through my own insurance. Scheduled for 9 AM. They rolled in at 9:40 and had the audacity to start my clock at 9:30. The guy in charge spent half the job on smoke breaks, complained that my furniture might be too big to move (again -- you are a MOVING COMPANY), and barely touched a single box himself. Then had the AUDACITY TO PRESS ME for a tip. Two of the three guys they sent had absolutely no business being in this field anymore. Too old, too slow, too tired -- moving at a pace that I was paying for by the hour. The only reason this job got done at all was because of the one younger guy carrying the entire operation on his back (literally). I left at the same time as the crew and literally watched them pull into Don Pedro's Carnitas for a lunch on my time, on my bill. My bed showed up dirty because they couldn't be bothered to wrap it properly. If I could dispute every dollar of this charge I would do it without blinking. Worst move I've ever had. They damaged every piece of furniture I have, they dragged my mattress through mudd. They damaged walls. Every time we've used crescent movers, we are finessed and conned by the movers with some absorbent fee and told not to call the office or check with them to confirm these fees, that you're getting a good deal by just agreeing to whatever insane "deal" the movers are offering you. My last move 2 years ago they showed up with EIGHT movers and told me "just tip them well"????? Tip them ALL well? On top of their charges which were no where near their quote. THIS time was absolutely unacceptable and to be honest I have no idea why I tried them again after my first experience. They told me it would cost me an additional $800 for my move because my head board and ONE PART of my sofa was too large to fit in the elevator? He told me "don't call the office, just give me $400 and I'll do it". AS IF I HAD A CHOICE???? WAS I SUPPOSED TO LEAVE MY HEADBOARD OUTSIDE???? I said so what will the cost be then? He said $1150. (Original quote $780). I said ok. I bring him the $1300 and he says "what the hell is this?! Where's my $400! You said you'd give me $400!" I SAID WAIT YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE GETTING ANOTHER $400 ON TOP OF THE $1100?!? wait and get this, you'd think the extra $400 or $800 fee he wanted would be for all the "difficult" hard work? But he literally PULLED THEM UP A ROPE UP MY BALCONY!!! They were two lazy to do the appropriate thing and just walk it up the stairs, so they risked ruining my balcony, my furniture, and their safety, to cut corners while still collecting a fee as if they had to walk up 4 flights of stairs!!! 2 years ago, they told my mom her couch wouldn't fit up the stair well and she had to get a storage last minute and go months without a couch! Why? Again, too lazy to take it up the stairs. Did they end up coming back and getting it up months later? YES! And guess what, they again asked for a $100 tip per person??! This was my first time using professional moving services in Chicago and it was a bit.. overwhelming at first. You kinda feel like the prettiest girl or guy at the dance and you have all these people ( companies) fighting for your attention. I looked on Google, Yelp and etc to find the right moving company for me. Crescent Movers was the first organization to contact me and gave me an exceptional quote right away. Alex, was really nice and honest with the quote and setting me up with the appointment. Now today.. Moving day, I'm so excited to move to the area of Ravenswood, Chicago area. Helping me get adjusted with the move and starting the day off right, I had Luis ( an exceptional and friendly leader contact me at 9:15 am about being en route to my old location. Luis and his incredible team of Alex and Jay were friendly and extremely professional and got right to work. Luis, Jay and Alex moved like it was a fire drill and they moved everything out of my old place in 45 mins and were gone-- driving to my new place to help me setup my new apartment. I cannot thank Luis, Alex and Jay for the quick work they made of moving my stuff into my apartment. I believe that Crescent Movers has a great team, especially with Luis, Jay and Alex in their organization. If moving this easy, especially with Crescent Movers and those guys, I'll always look forward to making moves with this team. "We want to make it right" is what they told me... If I can give zero stars, I would. I've used Crescent before and had no problem. That's why I went back to them, I even had some of the same guys to help with this move. This time things were different. They damaged a number of my beds, walls and floors when they moved things into my new house. Pictures below show some of the damage. They sent a representative out to my house to survey the damage. They best they offered up was $300 back. The alleged totally bill was over $2,000. To refinish a floor, $300 doesn't even cover the labor to fix a hardwood floor. It took them over a week to finally and officially offer up the $300. That's after a $200 check was offered 4 days after the move. The damage was well over $3,000 all said and done. I had a professional look at my floor and to fix the floor and have to redo the entire section. Let alone the beds that were destroyed, walls damaged for just plain carelessness. I had asked for my money back from the move. I still tipped each mover 20%. I thought that was fair. I get things get damaged, but this was excessive. I wanted to stick with a local, Chicago company. I would NEVER recommend using this company. They don't care. "Brian" (the owner or boss) is a crook who only wants money. Not one time did Brian extend a professional courtesy and call me directly, I was dealing with Joey. Nice enough guy, he's the one who came to my house and said the damage was accessible and that they "would make it right." Wake up call Crescent, this is far from "make it right." I moved from a one bedroom to another one bedroom a few miles away. Two freight elevators. I had a team of three guys, Louis being the leader. They were a little late getting started, but we managed to get everything done in time and under the original estimate (was originally around $500, ended up at $455 excluding tip) It helped that I had boxed nearly everything before they arrived. They were kind and thorough and everything made it to point B safely. I would use them again for my next move! read more

They moved me out in record time and into my apartment at Senior Suites of Norwood Park. Walter was in charge of the move, he was wonderful as well as the other 2 young men ! I recently moved from the Lincoln Park area up north in Wriggleyville, with the help of Crescent Movers. The crew, which consisted of Luis, Alex, and Jay, were very efficient and careful with all of my items. They did a great job explaining the process and summarized the details of the many sheets of paperwork. Additionally, they also wore masks and other protective gear, without my asking, so I thought that was an added bonus. A 5-man crew helped me pack up what I hadn't finished packing in my old apartment before moving everything to my new apartment. Many of my small electrics that they packed that morning were stolen (a wireless iPhone charger, Bluetooth speaker, Apple keyboard and mouse, etc). Also, I had more of my own boxes and packing materials, but they "kindly" let me use some of their used large wardrobe boxes that they had in the truck. At the end of my move, they charged me for renting these boxes and packing materials. When I inquired with the office about this, I was told by a man named Jimmy that he would speak with the manager and get back to me. After following up 4 times, I still have not heard back from anyone. I've used Crescent movers several times over the last ten years and I honestly can't believe how poorly my last move went....even worse is that they refuse to pay for my damaged items. My mattress was ruined, all my pots and pans are smashed - how does that even happen?!? All my glasses are shattered. All of my lamps were damaged. All my wooden furniture is scratched. The worst part is that I was offered $100 to make up for the mistakes of the movers. I had paid more than that to have them pack my stuff. After WEEKS they told me $400 was the best they could do. There's over $2000 worth of damaged items. The staff said insurance pays $.30/pound but this wasn't an issue due to the truck crashing or something like that. It was poor care. I moved from a storage facility to a 1-BR apartment up three flights of stairs. Tony and Santiago showed up early and moved everything in 3 hours. Both were courteous and professional. They took great care with my furniture and boxes so as to prevent scratches/damages - wrapped and taped everything. This is one of the cheapest estimates I received around this area and there are no hidden fees - EXCEPT you have to pay for every roll of tape they go through, which is $3 or so. We've used Crescent movers 2 times now and each move excellent. They moved us within a couple of miles on the South side of the city almost 5 years ago and they moved us recently from Chicago to Orland Park. They are on time, very professional and careful with our belongings. Walter and his team communicate well throughout the day, alert you to potential issues and make sure you are comfortable with their moving process. We had some of the same crew members both times which was about 4.5 years apart so they seem to have consistent workers for the company. The pricing is very reasonable given the amount of work that is accomplished within the given time frame. They estimate fairly well over the phone if you give them an honest assessment of your home. They also do a great job of placing and rebuilding the future once move if requested. The first move we did have 1 dresser mirror get cracked which was purely by accident and after it was set against a wall after the move, but they had it fixed and returned to us within a couple of weeks. We would highly recommend them to anyone and if needed would definitely use them again in the future. read more

I used their services back in September for a less than 5 mile move. I only had a studio apartment so there was not that much stuff to move. At first, they appeared very friendly and professional. However, as the move went on they started mentioning how hard they were working and kept insinuating that i make sure to tip them nicely. At the end of the move I found my bed frame chipped, despite taking all of their advice for wrapping. The only solution they offered was to super glue the missing piece back on. I still tipped them, but apparently they didn't think it was enough because he said "this what you tip a waitress." (Which it wasn't) I told him he was being very unprofessional and why, but he did not agree. I received a personal call from them after they left. He continued to explain that people usually tip them more and even offered to return the tip because that was just lunch money for them. Then insinuated that i must be facing financial hardship or I must not be fortunate enough to work everyday like them. Just blatantly rude. Tipping is optional and not mandatory. I tipped them the amount they deserve if not more considering they weren't careful with my furniture (which he also called cheap). OK, I've been in Chicago now for 5 years. I'm not a Commitment-phobe with people/relationships, but I sure as hell am a "maybe there's something better out there" when it comes to where I live. This is a long winded way of saying....I MOVE. A LOT. Like...almost every year I've been here. The one thing I can count on is the friendly staff at Crescent Movers there to pick up the pieces of my life and whisk my belongings away at a moment's notice. I'm serious, these guys are THE BEST. One year, the night before a move I had to go to the hospital and was pretty sick. I kid you not, these guys drove down to the storage unit where my things were WITHOUT ME, hauled all my stuff, and showed up at my new place willing to put things wherever I needed because they could tell I wasn't feeling well. THE BEST MOVERS IN CHICAGO. EVER. HANDS DOWN. I'm planning to stay in my current apartment for a long time because it finally feels like home. I apologize for the long review in advance, but it's well warranted. To those who are planning a move with Crescent Movers, I would like to give fair warning to anyone considering hiring their services. Our family has used their company a number of times in the past and so we were fairly confident in the services that they provided. Prior to our latest move, we had also referred their company to other family and friends, in which we have now come to regret. We had commissioned their services earlier this year on February 26th, 2020 with a move that was within the same township. During the move, a number of items were damaged. Among these items was a brand new 55 in' Samsung TV valued at $400 that was purchased only 5 months prior to our move. Other items that were damaged were smaller items including picture frames, glass mugs and Yankee Glass Candles that are retailed at a value of $30 themselves. These smaller items were divided between two boxes, clearly labeled FRAGILE, in which were either mishandled within the truck and dropped in the street. The head mover, Luis, stated to us that he did drop one of the boxes in the street that was labeled fragile. Never did he mention that items fell out of the box onto the street. When the snow had cleared the following day, evidence of broken glass were strewn about the pavement in front of our house. Of the approximately $450 worth of damaged possessions, we have not received a single penny in recompense, even after the fact that one of their team members openly admitted that the fragile contents of the labeled boxes were damaged up on his fault of dropping them in the street. To this day, we are also missing wooden shelves that go to a hutch that we had also purchased 5 months prior to our move. Since the move, we have made several phone calls, as well as multiple sent emails, all of which have been ignored. After repeated efforts, we finally got in touch with a member of the company named Jimmy, in which we were issued an apology and were told to provide them with the brand and model # of our TV. We were then told that we would be sent a replacement once the company had researched various retailers for the best price. The issue of our other damaged items and missing shelves were never acknowledged, but after a month of unanswered correspondence, we were temporarily satisfied with the compensation of a replacement TV and would inquire about the lesser valued items at another time, yet again. After an entire week had transpired with no word from the company, we were forced, once again, to make repeated phone calls over the course of several days in an effort to obtain an update. When we were finally able to get a hold of someone responsible for our compensation, an employee named Brian, told us they would no longer be able to help us out, nor replace our TV, claiming that because the TV was wrapped by us, the customer, they were not liable for any damage that the item sustained during the move. Being that my husband and I are not professional movers, we placed some bubble wrap that we had left over from packing boxes and placed it around the LED screen, confident that the company would reinforce our amateur efforts. They chose not to and because of it, our TV was chipped in the process summarily running the screen. The carelessness of the movers, in which we placed our full trust in, has resulted in damages equivalent to roughly 80% of what we paid for their services. After carefully reviewing the contract, nowhere did it state that any item packaged by the customer prior to the move exempts the company of any liability for damage sustained to said item. They are using a feeble excuse to abdicate themselves of the damage in which they are solely responsible. Aside from the careless efforts of the employees the day of our move, the office managers have shown a blatant lack of professionalism for the month and a half that we have made countless attempts to reach out to them. What my husband and I find worst of all is the company's unwillingness to stand behind their mistakes and accept responsibility for their faults. To anyone considering Crescent, learn from our mistakes. Avoid them at every cost, as they are not to be trusted. read more

I recently moved into my own apartment; this was my first move in over 28 years in living in the same apartment complex. I thought about the "friends and a truck" method of moving everything, but as this was a significant upgrade in my life, I wanted to do things right. A friend of mine recommended me to Crescent, and it was a smooth and enjoyable experience from start to finish. Stephanie and her staff were prompt and professional and made sure I had the right number of movers and an appropriate time frame, as well as provide me with pricing up front, which was clearly laid out. I also got a call the day before to confirm my move, which I appreciated. I definitely felt like a valued customer in the process. My movers, Walter and Ricardo, are a superb team. They are knowledgeable, friendly, communicative, and amazingly fast. They sincerely care about the experience as well. Walter gave me a call to let me know he was on his way and was running behind due to a vehicle check on the highway. (I am glad he reached out as I would have been concerned if he was late and not in touch with me.) When Walter and Ricardo arrived, they were prepared and ready to go, and explained their process and systems, which I thought were excellent. They completed the move in less than the three-hour window noted, and made sure I paid a fair price at the end. Walter and Ricardo are awesome, and I loved that they were fun and easy to talk with as well. Moving is hard, but hiring the right people makes a huge difference. This was the most frustrating and disappointing moving experience I ever had. I used this company before (this year alone, my boyfriend and I used them 3 times!), and still they didn't care about our business. I moved in May and the move was a total disaster. There was not a single item that have not been damaged by the workers. They did not wrap any thing (I asked them to more than once), put heavy fragile labeled boxes upside down and didn't have change to give me at end. How do you put a white sofa in a moving truck without wrapping it? All the wood furniture without protection? It was just unbelievable. All the furniture is either scratched or broken, small pieces lost. They manage to even break my bike's break, all my plants and pots! I'm not talking about superficial scratches. I'm talking about deep grooves in all pieces of furniture. I contacted the company but they did NOTHING to try to make this right. They don't even reply to my emails... I would never, never use them again and will not let any of my friends use them also. read more

- The movers (Antonio and Juan) were good and finished the move in 6 hours, although it was estimated to be 5 hours. - The third guy Ricardo was constantly checking his cell phone thereby taking time away from the move. - Didn't the right kind of tools to open one of my beds, thereby wasting at least 30 minutes. - The dispatcher Stephanie left a lot of loopholes. She is a sweet talker but don't get misled by that. You need to ask everything about what all they will charge you. Tapes, Shrink wraps (yes, shrink wraps), and anything other consumable which we normally think comes standard with a moving company. I had to have a huge argument over the phone to waive off the consumable charge (they came down to $10 per shrink wrap roll but eventually waived off) and also get my own packing tapes from Walmart. - She never mentioned that I can only pay cash. Disclaimer: I do not blame the guys working on my team. They were professionals, there to get the job done, and as careful as they could be considering they were on their 13th hour of work. They were on their third job of the day and seemed extremely overworked. This company seemed kind of sketchy to me from the start, but they weren't the cheapest I was quoted so I figured they couldn't be THAT sketchy. This was my first time using movers. I had everything packed and ready to go. Movers were over an hour late. When you send guys to do a job that are tired, that job is going to take a lot longer, and when it gets charged by the hour, that means it's going to be a lot more expensive. I ended up helping them unload the truck, working as hard as them to get it done. If I hadn't they'd still be unloading the truck well into the night and cost even more. You might think this took forever because we have a ton of stuff- we unpacked all of it in half a day, so I don't think that was the problem. The poor guys were exhausted. In the end, I could have done a better job and saved a LOT of money. Constructive criticism to the company- TALK to the people asking for a quote. Get information from them. You know what questions to ask, the customer might not. Secondly, it's illegal to make people work more than 6 consecutive days. That is all. read more

I'm giving 3 stars. I hired them to move us into a house, while they moved everything on time and safely, I was very satisfied with their work. That in fact had them do an in house move for my parents the following week. That too went very well. Although, once I realized that I was missing my two wheel dolly, I called them, more than once. Still waiting for my response and/or dolly. To someone else it might not be a huge thing, but that dolly belonged to my late husband, and it's mine. I called and explained that to Jimmy and he said he'd get back to me. I'm still waiting. I explained it might have been an oversight and that the movers may have thought it was theirs. I'm disappointed, I was ready to give 5 stars. I was worried that something might get damaged during the move but I never thought I had to worry that something would be taken and even more so, not addressed. Recently my disabled son moved less than a mile away to a larger apartment. He was told to hire Crescent Movers by the social service program he participates in. We were happy that he wouldn't have a problem with his small move, but were very unhappy with Crescent Movers. My son had about 8-9 small pieces to move and 2 boxes. Crescent Movers scheduled this as a 3- hour move, but it only took less than 2 hours. The movers came in and told my son, "we always get $40 a piece as tips after each move." My son didn't know so he said told them all he had was $40 and they told him that they would accept. This was a very small move for them. More importantly, why would movers take advantage of someone who HAS SO LITTLE, and gives up the little amount of cash he has? So we called Crescent Movers to explain the situation. Jimmy answered and said that they didn't want their movers behaving this way, they fully understood, and would be issuing a $40 check back to my son. That was over a 5 weeks ago, and in the following 3 times we have called, they keep telling us the same thing...we will mail out the check today. My son paid $320 for a very small move. Why would any company take advantage of someone who has very little and lives on a disability check each month? It is very upsetting. I waited for a while to write this review but after my sons $1200 furniture no longer works or functions, I have decided to write. The members of this family business are extremely nice. We were promised and quoted bout $1100 being on the high end to move my families 3+ bedroom home and if they needed to bring another truck because there isn't any rooom, they would do so for no charge. I thought this was excellent but was hoping that they would be able to just move on one of those Semi Trucks. This was NOT the case.. our entire basement full of things were left as well many of our heavy items left at our old home. After speaking with one of the Staff, I was informed that they would go back to pick the things up (this was a couple of days later ) but the Sour Taste is already there.. Who wants to deal with this ? add insult to injury.. MY SONS DRAWERS on his DRESSER that I PAID $980.00 will NOT CLOSE !! it keeps rolling out no matter what. Now i'm going to have to pay to get this repaired .. I'm more than Pissed! We paid almost $1000.00 with tip to the Friendly Staff but they have really screwed up this move. I moved on Wednesday February 5th. Snowing and cold. These guys were AMAZING!!!! There was a snow fall the night before (thanks polar vortex) and Jimmy and his crew..- Walter and Ray.- called to say they were running 1 hr late. (Thanks for the heads up) they got to my old apt and immediately got to work. I thought I had packed up everything good but I didn't. Walter took care of the little things I forgot. Along w the big things. He was super friendly and super fast at packing and moving. I am a worrier and they all reassured me and we're very calm and professional! They erapped up and packed up everything, plus some... we moved to Bloomington/normal. They unloaded the truck quickly and put a lot of the items in their place. They offered to set up. I told them no bc it was late and they had to drive back. I wanted to let them go home to their familes. I say it once and will say it 100x. Jimmy Walter and ray were amazing. I couldn't have asked for a btr crew! Professional. Friendly. Effective. Efficient. Fast. Calm. Responsible. And looked out for the best interest of my family's items. I would totally use them again! Especially since they did a flat rate instead of an hourly rate (which would've costed an arm and a leg since it took a total of 14 hours to move) or weight rate. Thanks guys - crescent movers! Moved from a one bedroom apartment close to the city to a townhouse in the suburbs. The 3-man team sent were simply amazing. Even as the leader (Tony) was getting paperwork done, the other two guys were hauling items immediately. Entire job took less than 3 hours, and that includes driving 45 miles, loading and unloading. Simply amazing. the guy I spoke to on the phone was courteous, and even threw in free tape and shrink wrap. Highly recommended!! read more

I would advise anyone moving to stay away from this company. I have used other movers and Crescent Movers were the worst I have ever had the misfortune to use. I say that, and I've actually had good to great experiences before. I moved within the city and they were so slow, they over ran their own estimate by 2 hours. Their estimate was already 3 hours longer than the previous mover. I had everything boxed, wrapped, staged, and ready, and they were still slower than the previous movers (who had to box and wrap for me). I did not ask them to put anything together, but the previous movers, were faster--putting things together for me like tables and beds with the same number of movers. I don't understand why they exceeded their estimate and charged me for it when they also stopped and ate dinner during that time. I don't want to say they shouldn't eat dinner--everyone needs to eat--but since the time was well past what they told me the move would be,that makes no sense, especially since I bought dinner! On top of that, they broke two boxes worth of crystal dishes that I wrapped carefully in moving paper, bubble wrap, and blankets on the edges. I marked the boxes FRAGILE, and placed them in a special place, telling them what was in the boxes. The crystal was not broken, but rather SHATTERED as if dropped or crushed. This is inexcusable, and my bowls are irreplaceable, having belonged to my grandmother. We told them up front that we were concerned about the time, and yet, they were unconcerned. They charged $1200 to move across town--well beyond their estimate! I feel like they took advantage of us, broke precious items with no excuse and caused an unbelievable stressful experience. DO NOT USE THEM !!!!! I used them many times before but this last time was the worst experiences thus far. So much miscommunication. Over charging for extras. Broken wine glasses Broken glass China glass Told they would fix it. Days pass. Weeks passes. Emailed them. Called them and was completely ignored. Horrible service. Not a great moving experience! The quoting experience was okay. The woman was very helpful. She took note of everything that I needed to move i.e. bed, dresser, couch, table, dining chairs, T.V. credenza, and boxes. I was told that it should only take two professional movers 3hours to move my 1bedroom only three blocks down the street. I said maybe adding another mover just to get the job done faster, but I was reassured that 2 would be just enough. They day of my move came. I had already boxed up my entire apartment, so all the movers had to do was disassemble my bed and table and get everything on the truck. The two movers got to my apartment, assessed my things, and started the process. They seemed nice and were good at making sure my bed and couch were wrapped properly. Then they started talking about me in Spanish! I am all for speaking different languages. I can speak 3 pretty well, but don't assume that the person you are moving can't understand you. NOT PROFESSIONAL at all! They were saying how they need two beers which was repeated many times and then looked at me funny after I laughed when one said a joke. I guess they assumed that I couldn't understand them.... It was very rude. I was expecting a higher level of professionalism like I was promised in my quote. The moved seemed to be going smoothly but then I realized that we were 2 hours in and we haven't left my apartment yet! I started freaking out, because this was only supposed to take 3 hours. When we got to my new building the moving truck hit the ComEd wires, which now has caused them to sag. I ran out yelling at the movers to Stop! yelling, "Alto", because I didn't want the truck to cause wires to fall. The driver just laughed and gave me the thumbs up sign... I don't know if he was mocking me or actually knew he was hitting the wires. In the end, it took 2 men to move my 1bed room 3 blocks over 4+ hours and since I was only quoted for 3hours I had to run to the bank to get more CASH, because that is all they would take. I was quoted $280 which I thought was a bargain. In reality I ended up paying $445! It was such a stressful experience and for the money not worth it at all! Antonio and his crew were great. The apartment we moved out of was pretty difficult in terms of access, so these three guys made their own route -- by literally relaying all of our stuff over the first story balcony railing. It was a superhuman effort. When we got to our new place, they just as gamely hauled all it up to the second story walk-up, carrying at least four boxes at a time, or, you know, hauling up a dresser or mattress single-handedly. Even though we only moved a one-bedroom, we had some pretty epically heavy stuff -- including at least 20 boxes of books and sheet music -- and they handled it all like it was nothing. This was my first experience hiring movers, and it couldn't have gone better. On too of their efficiency and professionalism, they were super friendly, and my final total came to less than I expected and at least $100 less than other companies I looked into. read more

They get the job done, and do it well! We had been searching around calling various moving companies waiting for them to get back to us with quotes. I eventually went on-line and completed the form on Movers.com. Within minutes of submitting the form, Crescent Movers was the first to call me back. They quoted us a descent price and had availability exactly when we needed it. We were moving during a pretty busy time in Chicago (June/July). I was skeptical so before confirming the appointment, I went on-line and checked out their reviews. Overall their reviews were good so we decided to give them a try. We were the first move of the day (Saturday). The guys arrived with the truck a few minutes before the scheduled time which we appreciated. After all the paperwork (which wasn't much and was exactly as had been quoted) they got started. We had four movers total, Big Carlos, Tony, Elias and Juan. The guys worked quickly and efficiently, carefully wrapping furniture and boxing smaller loose items. We moved from a three bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor to a 2 bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor about 5 miles away. They packed the truck, moved it and unpacked everything under 4 hours. We honestly could not have been happier. Big Carlos talked us through every step before beginning and answered any questions we had throughout. All the guys were friendly and focused. Juan was especially quick yet careful and seemed to never run out of steam, we were impressed! Crescent Movers really helped to alleviate much of the stress associated with the moving process. I would highly recommend them and would be quick to contact them again for future moves. read more

We were very pleased with our moving team: Jimmy, Ray and Walter. Jimmy is a great crew leader and they actually made the moving experience fun! I've moved around Chicago over a dozen times in the last 20 years, and they were one of the best moving crews I've had. Be sure to ask for Jimmy. He was really smart with how he organized our move, which was kind of complicated since we were switching places with our neighbor, so they actually had to move two units simultaneously! Also, since both places are residential/commercial, we both had a lot for them to move. We also have a complicated second level with super heavy desks and other furniture, including antique and heavy marble, and there didn't seem to be a piece of furniture these guys could not handle. They arrived on time, and it was a full day job, but I figured it would be. Even so, with all they had to do, they still moved us quickly. If we had done it ourselves it would have certainly taken multiple days. I was glad it was all done in one day! Great job guys. read more

I had to move a one bedroom and got quotes from 10+ places, and they def charge the least. I do have a complaint that they have a 3 hour minimum instead of the usual 2 hours at all other places. Therefore even though my move ended up taking less than even 2 hours, I was charged for all 3 and another hour of traveling fee. The moving experience itself was good. They arrived early and were accommodating when we had a little issue with the loading dock. The guys were very fast and efficient, and all of my stuff arrived intact. So even though I ended up paying more than necessary thanks to the high minimum at least everything was done stress free. read more

Fast, timely (in fact - early!), efficient, and careful - these guys were pros. Easy to book, and communicative before and during the move. For a 2bd/2ba, they sent three guys, and from packing to unpacking in the new place took about 3hrs (granted, I moved 3 blocks). Under $500, you need to pay in cash (so keep that handy). The quote came out to just about the same as it ended up (add a few rolls of tape). If you want them to not charge you for tape, get your own and make sure you specify that they use it (otherwise they may not). Only complaint is that they disassembled a lot of my furniture to move (bookshelf, desk), and didn't put it back together. I managed to figure it out myself, and I guess it saved me their labor charge of doing it, but I've never had movers in the past disassemble furniture in order to move. read more

I have used this company in the past and they were fantastic, so I hired them again. I needed to move only one bedroom set - one bed, one night stand, one armoire, one futon and one small dresser. They took 4 hours to do this, when based on my past experience working with Alex we estimated that it would not even take 2 hrs. I thought the whole experience was ridiculous. The 2 guys who showed up were completely incompetent and very lazy. They told me that it was going to take an additional 1/2 hour to disassemble and reassemble the futon and we were ok with it. Actually glad that they were told us up-front. However, when they reached the destination, they refused to reassemble the futon and said that we would have to pay them for an additional 1/2 hr to reassemble it. Understandably, I was furious. They refused to touch it till we agreed to pay for the addl. 1/2 hour. We also noted that they had scratched our brand new hardwood floor right at the entrance. I have called the company about 1/2 a dozen times and no one has responded to my call or called me back. We are so upset with the work the did, but moreso with the HUGE scratch right at our entrance. There are many movers in the city of Chicago. If you are considering moving, please DO NOT use this company. They dont understand customer service at all. I had Cresent movers yesterday for 3 hrs, just to move heavy items from one level to the second and to haul unwanted items to the alley. The three man crew were on time, polite and very efficient. They worked well as a team , keeping in mind that I was concerned about the hourly rates. I could not be happier with the service I received and they did such a thorough and neat job, that I feel like I had a room addition put on my home! There assistance was greatly appreciated and they were very patient with me sifting through items and directing what goes where. These gentlemen were true professionals and a pleasure to deal with. FYI , they do not accept payment by check. I will be using their services again and I will be recommending them to friends,family and clients for large and small moves.
