I used Roy's company this past weekend to move from Chicago to MA. I had previously used them for an in building move. From my first chat with Roy to saying bye to him in MA this move was a breeze. Roy took the time to explain all my options, including not using his service. After talking I decided to use his team because of his reasonable price and my confidence in him. He made himself available to me by text prior to the move and assured me all my anxieties were unfounded. On move day he and his team loaded my things quickly and carefully. He even confirmed which boxes were fragile. After he left I flew to MA and the next day around noon they arrived to unload my things. Everything, including my white (!!!) couch, was in perfect condition. A one day turn around for a long distance move is unheard of. Their service was above and beyond. Let me tell you about response, service and execution. I called Roy's at 10:45am on 3/16/2020 and said I needed to move the next day. Roy said he would be there at 10am. At 9:59am; Roy calls and said we're outside the building in the alley. The team was up and down in less than an hour and off to my new location. We got to the new location and I recall Roy asking me the day prior about special circumstances with the building, of course I said no. But reality being what it is, they had to unload their truck, use one elevator and then transition to another elevator just to get my apartment.... on the 3rd floor. No complaints from Roy or his team, they just pushed on through. Did I mention that they had to wait for me for 30 minutes as there was a problem with the cashier's check... again, no complaints from Roy. Roy and his team did a great job, absolutely no issues; except for me not getting my part done. They unloaded, set up the furniture and cleaned up and were out. Thanks Roy, you guys are awesome! Based on the previous reviews, called. My quote was not a fixed price was made flexible when I said comparing with other companies. I had items in storage ( half of a one bedroom)... I had questions the day before the move. I wish the I would have known in advance the owner Roy was not " hard up for my little $ 50.00 extra charge..." In actuality, the additional charge was " $100." I gave three stars because the crew was AMAZING!!! I am here on a one year assignment and moving again next summer. I will NOT contact ROY's moving due to the owner's lack of professionalism and respect. As a customer spending my money, if my questions , comments, and concerns bother you then we should go our separate ways. Pretending to meet other quotes then saying oh, the other companies are going to upcharge you with extra fees.... that is exactly what he did. Roy and his movers did my move in December 2021. They were so good I promised him I would give a review on Yelp. Roy worked with me for a fair price. All I have to say is make sure you have your stuff all boxed and ready to go because they were not coming to play. If I didn't know they were movers, I would have thought it was a professional robbery. They moved my whole apartment in about 1 1/2 hours. I have never see a move more proficient and professional set up/ (I have moved plenty!) He had his guys stationed in an assembly line, so no wasted time up and down stairs, he went back and forth between the truck and the apartment and watched his guys like a hawk! One of his movers joked and said that Roy could be a Drill Sargent, and he's right, but don't take that in a negative way, he did everything with a hint of joke or chuckle while being serious. I can't say enough good things about Roy and his crew at Roy's Moving. They are true professionals: your items are wrapped carefully and thoroughly. They work very quickly but concern for your belongings is not sacrificed. Communication is always a priority: they mention any current problems they find as they wrap and Roy contacted me almost daily during the process. Our move was from a 4 story Chicago townhouse to both a Chicago condo and to storage in another state. Many companies would give online quotes or quotes over the phone, but he insisted on coming all the way out to Orland Park to assess our place and give us the most accurate quote possible. We were moving from a 5 bedroom house in the burbs to a three bedroom townhouse (3 stories) in the city, with an additional stop at my moms to drop off some furniture. His price came in a lot more reasonable than the other places, we had absolutely no damage to our belongings, and the guys were incredibly nice and hardworking. I've never ever bothered to write a yelp review but Roy and his team were so great I had to write my first. My roommate and I have both gone through several moves in the city and knew we weren't even going to try and do it on our own this time. We asked for recommendations from friends and got a lot of feedback but Roy's was by far the best option. Other movers we had called were way more expensive and didn't include nearly as much as Roy offered. While other movers charged by the hour, or didn't take care of the wrapping of furniture, or disassembly/reassembly, Roy included it all and charged a flat rate based on the amount of furniture and boxes that needed to be moved. He was so helpful and friendly on the phone, we knew we had made the right choice just by talking to him. This move was the easiest I've ever had and his team was very organized, quick but careful, and friendly. It was a bummer that our couch couldn't fit through our narrow stairwells which was nobody's fault, but the team tried so hard and did literally all they could to make it work. They even offered to take it to storage or to a reseller free of charge. Save yourself the trouble and hire these guys. It's money well spent and will save you all the headaches moving usually causes. read more

Roy and his team moved my family from one house to another in less than one day. We were a little concerned because we had to be out of the first house in the morning. Well, I feel ridiculous that I worried. Roy and his crew arrived early in the morning and got started immediately. At our closing in between the moves, my wife couldn't stop exclaiming about how efficient, professional, and hard-working they were. Everything was moved out with care and well-protected in the truck. The took note of where everything was so they could place it in a similar room in the new house. Roy stopped by a couple of weeks before and gave us an estimate, which ended up being exactly what he charged afterward. Now here's where they really showed how extraordinary they are...we had to close on the new house in order to move in, but it took longer than we expected. I reached out to Roy while gathering quotes to move my boss into her new condo in Florida. The month prior, we booked a particularly gruesome long-distance move for her son, and we were both completely terrified to select another company to move her from Chicago to Florida. I could tell early on that Roy's company was quite different than other moving companies. He responded to emails quickly and professionally. He arrived early to all appointments. He sent reminders, quotes, and receipts quickly. When we required additional insurance for some expensive items, he worked diligently with his insurance office to make it happen. Roy and his crew are great! I called, he answered and came over to survey the situation. He is very personable and professional and made me feel at ease about moving which can be a bit stressful. He stopped by the next day, during August busy season, to pack my truck. He also drove the box truck in and out of my gated Chicago driveway off the alley which was no small feat. They took great care of my things and worked magic to fit everything into a 20' truck that should have been 26', but the reservation got screwed. Roy recently handled my intracity move and helped to deliver a Craigslist couch, each on separate occasions. He and his guys did a great job on my move, worked quickly, and were super friendly. Where I was quoted 4 or 5 hours by other moving companies, this crew got it done in 3 hours flat, and still charged me less than what the other places were quoting me. When he delivered my couch, I called on short notice, and he went to pick it up while I went home to get the space ready. The pickup instructions were a little complicated, but the guys ran into no issues and got the job done quickly and professionally. Cost me about $100, because I was a repeat customer, which isn't bad considering I would have had to rent a truck and find at least one or two guys to come help me anyways. His truck wouldn't start when they were trying to leave, and he was so nice that I agreed to drive him to the auto parts store to get some jumper cables. The jump didn't end up solving the problem, but I hope they got it figured out... From what I gather, Roy's handles all sorts of jobs, from furniture delivery, to apartment moves, to offices. I wouldn't hesitate to call him again first if I needed anything taken from one place to another that I couldn't handle myself. read more

Roy's Moving was exactly what I expected. 3 guys and a truck, no messing around. Expected the move to take 3 hours but they were done in 2 hours and 15 minutes because they work so fast and efficiently. I wish I could give them a 4.5/5 rating. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because a few glass items (3 wine glasses, 2 candles, 1 serving dish) broke during the move. I'm not sure whether this was because of how they stacked the boxes in the truck or if it was my fault for not wrapping the glass items better. Honestly, I think more of the blame should go on me rather than them. Regardless, the broken items were inexpensive and it was not a big deal. For the price, efficiency and quality, I would definitely recommend Roy's for anyone moving within the Chicago area! They were professional, kind, and great to work with.
