I had to keep rescheduling bc the freight company & driver couldn't communicate with me. I had used Expert Movers multiple times in the past and had even referred them to others. However, this last time I used them, I was highly disappointed. I moved last year, and the amount was a little over $800. This year, I literally moved back to the old location and this time, it was $1,600.00. Granted, I did have a lot more items, but this time I was charged extra fees for each television as well as charged a $180 travel fee (mind you, I moved 7 blocks away). I can't understand how within a year, the same move cost me double and I do not understand how I was charged $180 for 7 blocks. After being so pleased with them in the past, I'm actually conflicted because I'm so irritated at being charged double. The workers, although moved very slow this time, did in fact work very hard which is why my husband and I still tipped them. But I will no longer praise them to others, nor will I use them again. No bueno. The crew arrived about an hour late, but honestly that's NBD to me. They worked at a decent pace, about like most movers I've hired. But it's irritating to pay $160.00 for a second truck, which was NOT used to move anything. Except to transport two of the movers. But I've never been asked that question by movers, or any service provider for that matter, BEFORE the subject of tipping was brought up at all. "Would you care to leave a tip?" would have been ok, though I've never been asked that by movers before, either. Bad move. Luis and his team were AWESOME through everything - arrived early to the first location, very carefully handled our belongings, and managed the move efficiently. We didn't feel like they were upcharging us, and they had a reasonable fee, especially with all the coordination required for our move. Overall nice people to work with. The downside is that they broke my mirror & turned it around so I wouldn't see it right away. I called the company & I didn't get reimbursed & the company stated that the movers didn't even recall moving a mirror. They also stated that since the mirror wasn't included in the inventory sheet that they provided so they weren't able to reimburse me. I take full accountability for not including my mirror on the inventory document, I just included the major large items. If you choose to move with them, I would make sure you include every single item on the inventory sheet they provide, even the smallest things so you won't end up in my situation. Expert Movers is extremely responsive, had the best rates out of what I scoped around the area, and very flexible throughout the entire process. I had the lucky opportunity to move during the pandemic and was grateful to hear that they allow one rescheduling for free before charging any fees. The day of, the movers showed up early. So early in fact that we weren't ready for them yet, and they were happy to wait until we were ready and didn't start the time until we signed the initial paperwork. The three guys were quick and also courteous, and made things super hassle-free for us. Expert movers absolutely crushed my move. They quoted me 8 hours for a 2 bedroom move, but got it all done in 2 hours total. That includes a 25 minute drive between houses. They were very careful with our stuff, even placing things that logically should go together like an office chair and a desk next to each other. Who likes moving? Let's see a show of hands. Yeah, that's what I thought: nobody. Nobody likes moving. BUT... if you have to cram your world into a bunch of cardboard boxes and transport everything to a new home... have I got a company for you! Expert Movers lives up to their name: they really are experts. How refreshing is that, my friend? Expert Movers was the only one of the 6 companies I contacted that bothered to make an in-person visit (by the owner, Eduardo, no less) to evaluate how much stuff I was moving. Very impressive. Then he submitted a very reasonable bid, which included an extra stop to load up my partner's belongings. Of course I said, yes. On moving day, the truck actually arrived 10 minutes early with 4 energetic and experienced guys who made quick work of all the boxes and furniture at both locations. The final stop - our new home - offered some obstacles, such as trapping 2 crew members in an elevator for 20 minutes. Little things like that. But these experts kept hustling, kept sweating, kept doing their job. Bottom line: the guys (led by the amazing Celso) were outstanding and worked their butts off. They really ought to change the name of the company to Super-Dooper-Experts-Who-Really-Truly-Are-Experts-And-I'm-Not-Kidding-Expert Movers. Now, that would be some truth in advertising! read more

Hands down, the worst moving experience I've ever had. As someone who has moved a significant number of times, I have never dealt with such an incompetent moving crew. Please, if you have a piano or furniture you value, do not hire this company. I paid an additional $175 fee to have my baby grand piano moved. I called days ahead of time to confirm that the movers would bring a piano board and be equipped to move my piano. They showed up, without a piano board, and proceeded to move my piano on a dolly, with the legs attached. Damage occurred to my piano, which Expert Movers refused to take responsibility for, since part of the piano was previously covered (even though other areas that were also damaged were not). When I pointed out the damage, the foreman asked me to fill out a personal property disclaimer, waiving them from all liability. Incredibly dishonest and sleazy. The movers did not know how to reassemble the piano and handed me "extra parts". For anyone familiar with pianos, you know they don't have "extra parts". It is alarming that this company markets itself as providing piano moving services, when they clearly cannot/shouldn't. There was minor damage done to other furniture pieces (not previously wrapped), which I was willing to overlook, but so far, I am very unsatisfied with the lack of resolution Expert Movers has provided. read more

I requested quotes through Yelp a few days before we needed to move items from our apartment into our storage unit. Expert was the last to respond but had the best hourly rate and their communication was very clear and thorough. I liked that they offered to arrange a city permit for parking ($25). We have used Expert Movers for two moves: a 4 bedroom house in Chicago to the suburbs, and my mom's 1 bedroom apartment move from Chicago to the suburbs. They were fast, polite, and mindful of our belongings. Our furniture was wrapped furniture very securely in plastic wrap for an additional $30 and it was worth it for peace of mind. The website was easy to use for a quote, and they were flexible when we called before the move to add more inventory. Nothing was damaged or broken and with both properties, we had a LOT of stuff. To be honest, the only thing keeping us from moving with them in the future is that we are in the suburbs now! read more

At 12:30 on the 21, Expert calls us and says they will not be here until 3:00 at the earliest! WHAT! We had to re-schedule our entire move at the drop of a hat for two days later; then, they wouldn't take off ANY discount, not even a free hour, to compensate for their mistake and the inconvenience they caused us!!!!!When they came and moved us finally on the 23, they broke our 70" in TV!! They assured us they would cover the cost of a new one. NOW they only want to give us .60 cents PER LB of the TV - meaning they pay us $33!?!?! That is literally 5% of what the TV cost. Shit show. The two-man crew showed up late, without any boxes (they brought only tape for my move). I'd contracted with the company to provide packing AND moving services; I have it in writing that this is what they were providing. Nope, not a single box for my entire move. The guys showed up in a U-Haul, had no idea what tools they needed to dissemble my bed, and were completely mystified that they were there to pack AND move me. It cost me three extra hours of time (at $160/hour) to accommodate this error. I'd confirmed the pack and move with Dennis from the company the day before my move. I've reached out to him on his cell several times (on moving day and in the days since), with no response. Do not hire these people. read more

Expert Movers provided outstanding service. First of all thank you so much to the movers: Heribierto, Albierto and Dany. The heat index for my move was over 100 degrees. I dreaded the move. Thinking about it ruined my entire week prior. They showed up early ready, willing and able. They went non-stop. The inside of one of the homes matched the outside temp. The entire move took 2.5 hours. They protected all the upholstered furniture, mattress and boxspring with shrink wrap. They moved two oak bookshelves, removed the shelving AND the pins holding them up, shrink wrapped the shelving and put everything back together. They were like three energizer bunnies. I was thoroughly impressed. I did nothing to help them. I had fragile furniture items and every single one survived the move. I'm very grateful. They were pleasant to work with and lazer-focused on completing the job. Each knew what to do. When I was in college more than three decades ago, I paid about $200 less than what I was charged for approximately the same amount of furniture. I got an outstanding deal from Expert Movers. Overall it was okay, but there were things I wished they had handled more carefully. 1. They work very quickly, which isn't always a bad thing, but it can mean they handle your furniture aggressively. They were taking shelves/drawers out of our TV stand and when the drawer fell out, the guy was just trying to forcibly put it back in (even when it wasn't aligned correctly). 2. They do NOT care about your floors. If you're renting and don't want to get charged by your landlord for scratches, I HIGHLY recommend you buy things to cover your floors because they will drag your furniture against your hard floors. 3. FYI, they don't cover for basic damages (unless you purchase separate coverage). Our mover said they only cover for real solid wood items, but they will not cover anything "cheap like Ikea" (his words exactly). Although some of my items were not real solid wood, they were still more than a few hundred dollars... but apparently that doesn't matter because they're not the "real stuff". It's a shame our dining table edge was ruined with a dent during the move (image attached), but I assume nothing can be done. read more
