Good Move Movers, of Franklin Park/Elmhurst, Illinois, broke off one of our formal dining room chairs and said we were responsible for the repair. One of the first crew put shelf holders in his bag from our bar shelving, and was not part of the second crew, so we can't unpack the bar. They never offered to bring them back to us. Told us to go buy them. They also gashed in the corner of one of the night stands and never told us, and now, when I try to call them, it goes directly to voice mail and they never call back. I paid cash so there was no recourse through a credit card company to dispute the charge. They picked up our furniture on July 11, 2026, held it for 2 nights in 2 trucks. The second truck was only about 1/4 filled. They were scheduled to deliver to our new address at 1 pm on Monday, July 13th, at 1 pm. They arrived an hour early and our closing wasn't complete until 12:30. All the boxes were packed by us, were colored coded and marked for every room. Many of the boxes were placed in the wrong rooms or left in the garage and we had to carry heavy boxes into the correct areas. One box of record albums was completely broken. Don't ever ever rely on them to move you! they are terrible! This battle is not over! read more

While Good Move's rate was higher, it included everything; wrapping, blankets, disassembly, tape, etc. There was no billing "trickery" like many other movers. Just upfront and honest! Good Move packed our 5 Bed / 3 Bath house on a Thursday and moved us on Saturday. Ricky and the rest of the crew were experts that treated all of our items with care, brought a great energy to a stressful weekend for us, worked hard for 12 hours (!) on Saturday, and never seemed to sit still the entire time. Good Move Movers was recommended by the senior living community we were moving my mom into. What an awesome experience. I think they are used to working with senior citizens which is a plus. They confirmed my appointment before the move and also called when they were 20 minutes out on the day of the move. They rolled out the red carpet, literally, from the entryway over the carpeting to protect the floor. 3 guys arrived ready to move some furniture and made quick work of the entire process. All the men were so polite. When we arrived at mom's new home on the 3rd floor they carefully placed the furniture and boxes where we instructed. They could even fit a 7' sofa in the elevator! They set up her bed for her. One of the plastic legs on her sofa broke off a piece and they even glued or mended it for us. They really went above and beyond! Everything went wonderfully. On time, fully prepared, organized. First they loaded all items being moved onto the truck. Then they moved furniture from the second floor and basement to the first floor for later sale/ donation. Then they unloaded and set up the items being moved into the new home exactly where requested, and cheerfully relocated some items as when we changed our mind. Good: The guys worked very efficiently and we're very pleasant. They were able to accommodate my unloading time during my move which I appreciated very much. Bad: I'm missing two large moving bags that contained my clothes and a large box that had bathroom essentials in it. The unloading was done while sellers were still moving their things out of the house so my things were stacked in a back room. I was unable to notice if anything was missing until days later after I started to unpack. I sent Chris an email, but he never replied. I texted the driver and he did reply stating that nothing was left on the truck. I'm not understanding how 3 fairly large items just disappeared. read more

I've let the dust settle before writing this review for our move in COVID 2020. We chose them based on a friend's recommendation. Chris is decent to deal with, but here are the details of the actual move that gets them a 3-star review. Full disclosure, I've used other movers before (with worse results) as well as having moved many times DIY, so I am not a moving noob. 1. Crew showed up 20 minutes later than the 1 hour morning window we were given. We were the first (only) move for this crew that day, so why start late? 2. Guys showed up in a rented truck with no indication it was Good Move. Even had guys riding in back of the box truck because they said they've been ticketed for having too many up front. Ever heard of a car? 3. Extra unexpected guy shows up in car (lol) and Chris says oh, I'll just charge you $ extra per hour and your move will go faster. Yeah, no that's not what we agreed to in advance. After a point, too many guys just get in the way. It ended up that one guy just spent 90% of the time standing in the truck arranging the items (poorly). 4. The standard box truck they sent just barely fit our items and they ran out of moving blankets. Thankfully I had some of my own otherwise several items were just going to be loaded with little or nothing around them. 5. A couple furniture items were dinged and glass items in boxes marked fragile on all sides were broken. Not cool. IMHO the way the truck was packed was largely to blame as I saw no dropping of items so the boxes must have had something heavy piled on them. Not enough to bother with a claim to them (30 cents/pound) or my own insurance, but it didn't need to happen given how thoroughly we packed everything in advance. 6. We had to keep after them to wear their masks when wrapping/loading, and they did not wear masks at all when unloading (we gave up asking). THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. The crew was friendly enough. They were your typical group of young guys who may or may not be doing this next year. Are there truly professional movers to be found anymore? Would I use them again? Probably not. I felt like I had to pay way too much attention, give too much direction to avoid damage, and didn't like the other surprises. The liability with movers is always on you anyway unless you buy insurance or are covered by your homeowners, so what I got beyond common labor and a truck was: tape, shrink wrap and moving blanket rental. Expertise? Nothing special. As always YMMV so if you decide to use them just know that you need to stay involved. read more

Because of most of the reviews and the feedback from a client, I contacted this company. The man who picked up (found out it was Chris, the owner), didn't say his name or Good Moves, his tone sounded like he was having a bad morning. I explained that my business was looking for reliable movers to partner with. We help boomers and seniors downsize and move. He didn't say much, I asked him why, he said 'I get a lot of telemarketers'. I told him that I wasn't a telemarketer. I gave him my business name. He said 'I know you work for the company, but what do you do?' I told him I owned the company, and had told him what we do. He wasn't listening. His tone was abrasive. Moving is stressful, especially when you're closing on two houses in one day. Every interaction with Good Move Movers was fantastic, and the entire process was smooth. My estimate was scheduled the same day I initially inquired, and I had a quote that evening. The price was very reasonable, and the communication leading up to the move was great.
