I've moved many times during my corporate career and have lots of experience with movers but I can tell you that these guys are the best. The local rep, Trevor was great. He showed up on time, was very conscious of wearing a mask, this was while Covid was still going strong in the area. The estimate he gave was better than another estimate I received from another mover. He also was very responsive when I called him back a couple of times after the initial estimate. The packers were very efficient and obviously did a good job as only one small item was broken when I unpacked. The driver was personable and arrived to pack, pick up and drop off exactly when he said he would. The team at the location in FLA was also professional and efficient. Even when I filed for the small damaged item they handled quickly and professionally and did not question it. I highly recommend these people if you're looking for a long distance mover! read more

Just don't. Unprofessional and irresponsible. Contract read C.O.D. and was charged in full a couple of days after my belongings were picked up therefore breaching their own contract ! Never have I ever "pre-paid" for a move. My belongings arrived 14 days after pick up. Many pieces were damaged, some pieces missing. I have moved many, many times and my first and last experience with Boerman has not been a memorable one. I simply cannot recommend them. read more

Our family has used Boerman Moving and Storage - Woodridge since they were in Hodgkins. Each time we used them they have been awesome. We last used this company back in 2018, see our previous review. This time we left the state of Illinois for obvious tax reasons. Not wanting to put up with over taxation we did an interstate move. Now the rules for interstate moving are a bit tricky. We all plowed through them with the expertise of Boerman's. There were a few hiccups with our move. However, we did work with the owner, Mike Boerman, and with his assistance everything was corrected. In true family-owned passion, Mr. Boerman and family understands his customers and is ALWAYS there to assist them. Big companies should learn this value from Mr. Boerman. This was the worst move ever and we have had 8 moves across country and out of country. They lost prized possessions, crushed lampshades, destroyed Christmas decorations, damaged a lift top coffee table so it no longer works properly, lost shelves and used copious amounts of paper to wrap Tupperware and then threw silver and china in boxes with little protection. They lost a 6' x 4' wall hanging gifted to us by the Adler Planetarium from an exhibit that depicted our twin sons demonstrating prisms. This is irreplaceable. All charging plugs, lamp hardware and assembly nuts and screws were packed separately in other boxes. We had to toss several items as they could not be reassembled. Our claims are being challenged by wanting original receipts, pictures and inventory numbers. We clearly could not possibly have original receipts, most inventory numbers have fallen off or were removed in the move in cleaning and Pictures of lost items is impossible. I would never recommend this moving company. I will update this review if they make any of this right. read more

Absolute worst experience ever! 2 guys showed up and ONE of the two were so rude all he worried about was getting to his next delivery! Left my 125 pound new couch in my lobby of my building and said here you go! I asked him, I would please like to inspect it , he said OH we have NO time for that? WHAT?? He also said my office has already called and we need to move on to our next delivery? Umm okay so your not going to attempt to get my NEW couch up to my unit? His response! The folks at Boerman Moving & Storage were amazing with our cross-country move! They truly took all the stress & worry out of the move for us through the entire process. We researched various long-distance moving companies ahead of time & went with them because on top of their excellent customer service right from the start, their quote came in the lowest compared to others, their turn-around time for delivery was the quickest AND our stuff stayed on the same truck with the same driver from start to finish. We packed just about everything ourselves & had them wrap our furniture, box up the mattress, box the glass shelves from our TV stand & also box some rather large framed art work. Everything arrived intact, without any issues! A special shout-out to all the individuals there who assisted us personally for their top-notch friendly customer service: Frank Ortiz - was our Move Coordinator & assisted us on the phone, keeping in contact with us during the process. Great guy! Nick Ariano - was the Sales Rep who came to our house to do the survey of our household goods/furniture & estimate the cost. Really nice guy! Carlos - was our driver from start to finish via Bekins Van Lines. He was excellent & kept us updated via calls & texts during the transport. He truly is a wonderful guy! On the IL side - the moving team Boerman contracted to load up our stuff did a fantastic job & I'm sorry I don't have their names...I was working that day & the Hubs was home for the move-out & he couldn't recall their names at this point, but reported they worked very efficiently, cleaned up everything along the way & were a nice bunch of guys. They laid down plastic to protect the carpet on their paths in & out, too. On the WA side - the moving team Boerman contracted for the unload was amazing! I was there for the move-in, so I remember their names: Lee, Lupe & George. These 3 guys did a phenomenal job & worked incredibly well as a team. As with the team on the IL side, they worked quickly, but safely, and cleaned up as they went. They also laid down plastic to protect the carpet along the main pathways in our new place. These 3 guys along with the driver were so incredibly nice & we enjoyed talking to them while they were working (but they never stopped working! I don't know how any of them could carry on a conversation while doing so much physical labor, but not only did they do so, they did it with big smiles & great attitudes!). They even gave us some tips on places to shop & local restaurants to try. We were sad to see them & the driver leave...we kind of wanted to take them out for a round of beers when it was all done! Her estimate was right on target, and communication throughout the process was excellent. We paid for them to pack our belongings, and it was worth every penny. Working with Boerman Moving was an incredible experience. This was our first time using a moving company as well as making a long distance move - from Illinois to California. With so many moving parts to a long distance move, working with Boerman removed so much of that stress. We started by working with Ken Wolff, who was the consultant who came to our house to review what we'd be moving and reassured us how the packing, loading, and move would be handled. Ken was very friendly and professional as well as set perfect expectations for our experience. I was moving from New Hampshire to Kentucky, I knew my stuff would have to go in storage but didn't know for how long as my new home was being built. Pam got me a quote sane day, locked everything in and communicated great with me through the whole move. the crew that came out to pack me up and load the truck were very friendly extremely efficient snd did a stellar job of protecting everything. once my new house was ready, Pam scheduled delivery exactly when I needed it. I contacted Bekins to schedule an interstate move. Bekins scheduled my appointment with their agent, Boerman Moving and Storage. I received a call from Ty to gather information so that he could provide a quote for the move and storage. The date for the move was already locked in, I just needed the quote. We spoke for approximately 30 minutes after which he informed me that I would have the quote by the end of the day. He further shared that the quote would be very detailed and include information about storage. After not receiving the quote by the end of the day, I left him a voicemail. I called again the next day and requested to speak to a manager. The receptionist informed me that she would transfer me to Mike Boerman. Instead, Frank Ortiza intercepted the call and was very kind. He informed me that he was sitting near Ty and would have him return the call. Suffice to say, I never received a call back and I never received a quote. In hindsight, businesses should be true to who they are, and Boerman rises to this promise. The fact that I never received a call back, or an email, provides insight of their poor customer service and business practices. If for any reason they were not able to accommodate the move, common courtesy is to respond to the customer. This provides a perspective into what my experience would have been with you for a move. I contacted American Van Lines who not only provided attention to detail during the call, but put me on hold while they finished the quote, and sent a follow up email after the call. Interstate moves can be very stressful, Boerman, at the onset, is not up to the challenge of ensuring customer satisfaction. Thank you for not returning my call Ty, you saved me from stress that would have been inevitable with Boerman Moving & Storage. I have never ever worked with a company so disrespectful, untrustworthy, and outright dishonest as Boerman Moving and Storage! The move across the US was a disaster when Boerman management decided to move up the date the furniture was being delivered to the new house with just 36 hours' notice. When they announced this change, we were still only 1/2 way across the US ourselves, and the painters and carpet layers were busy working in the house under the assumption they had 4 more days to complete their work. Boerman did not tell us they could change the move-in date after it was agreed upon by both parties. Boerman now had to find a crew to unload the truck and unpack with only 36 hours' notice during the COVID labor shortage. They couldn't find enough people and consequently, they were here late into the night even with us doing much of the unloading and unpacking that we prepaid them to do. We ended up coming out of pocket for the painters and carpet layers disruption and extra labor and did a significant portion of the move-in ourselves due to the shortage of crew. Not only did Boerman not offer to compensate us in any way, they later refused to pay on the insurance claim because the specific damage was not written down by them on the day of the move. Another critical detail that we were not informed of was a requirement either verbally or in writing until we submitted the claim. Boerman is totally untrustworthy on so many fronts! read more

He did a quick survey, provided a fixed price estimate and we didn't feel nickel-and-dimed about little things. Pamela was great on the logistics front, answering questions and making sure we had our paperwork completed. The guys that loaded the truck were awesome - cheerful and fun to work with despite the hot and muggy weather. It turned out to be the same crew who delivered our load in Minneapolis 2 days later and they worked tirelessly in spite of dealing with some grouchy neighbors (2 stars for my neighbors!) Beware the bait and switch with this moving company. It was my first cross country move(not a corporate relocation) and we got quotes from several companies. First the sales guy "estimates" the weight based on a quick visual inspection and that's what the initial bill is based on with the caveat that if it's over by less than 10% there will be no additional charge and if it's less they adjust the bill when they weigh the truck after it's loaded. They called me and told me the driver didn't weight the truck before loading it so they now couldn't determine the final weight until after it was emptied so I would have to pay the "estimated" weight bill before they unloaded (only accept a cashiers check or debit card). More importantly they give you a 3 day window for delivering your load. The salesman (Trevor) said they have to do that based on the drivers schedule but felt very confident it would be on the first or second day. They fully loaded the truck 2 days before we moved as we were assuming that gave us a a better shot at getting it on the front end of the 3 day window. The movers themselves (Antonio was the lead guy) were great. Well, we slept on the floor of our house for 2 days as they finally showed up on day 3. Note that they need you to pay them by debit card or cashiers check before they will unload. The 2 movers(great guys) scheduled 4 local guys to help them move our load in and as a result said they'd be done by midday but those guys didn't show. They scrambled to find a couple local guys to help and after 6 -7 hours we started to help them move the stuff so we could sleep in our beds So then they tell us a few days later that the weight came in 10 % less than the estimate and we would be refunded the prorated amount. After 3 weeks I finally got the refund to my debit card. And the owner Mike Boerman actually had the gall to call me and said I wasn't treating his employees appropriately after I called out the sales guy. Maybe the entire moving industry works this way but I truly felt I was misled and the communication was horrendous. read more
