I contacted Carlson Brothers Movers and the written response was they would be back to me in as little as 15 minutes but no longer than 24 hours. There was NO RESPONSE. I called and left a message and asked them to call me... again NO RESPONSE. I understand if they could not do the job, however they should have been professional and responded. We used Carlson Brothers Movers to move our household goods from Naperville, IL, where we had lived for 30 years, to Wheaton, IL. Everything the previous reviewers have said is spot on. They truly do treat your "treasures" as if they were their own. C.J. and his crew were on time, polite, focused, quick, but careful. The word I would use is "meticulous." And they all had good senses of humor. Unpacking in Wheaton simply reversed the excellent process. They placed our furniture where we asked. They attached our new headboard, (which I didn't expect) and reinstalled the little pesky shelves in our CD/DVD revolving tower. They made sure everything was where it should be before they left. I'm hoping not to move again for a long while, but I would hire them again in a nano second. read more

If we move again, Carlson is the only moving company I would use! My wife and I have moved many times and this week we used Carlson Brothers, it took 2 days for all of our stuff. They treated our furniture as though it was their own, every piece was wrapped in blankets and taped. They were exceptionally careful with our baby grand piano. When all furniture had been placed in our new home they went room-by-room to see if we wanted to change the placement of any pieces--no other moving company has ever done this. So 8 rooms of furniture and a 100 boxes of household item moved without a scratch! Finally, the cost was very reasonable, not the lowest but absolutely the highest value for the services they provided. Don't waste your time searching the web for other movers, this is the only one you need. read more

Carlson Brothers moved my 77-year-old mother and her disabled husband out of their home of 33 years - in minus 9 degree weather no less! The move included family china, a large glass china cabinet, and a baby grand piano all coming down from the second floor. It would be hard to overstate how extraordinary the movers were. CJ and his team were courteous, respectful, communicative, and gentle. They took exceptional care when packing each oftand transporting all of the household goods. I moved from Glendale Heights to Lombard. Carlson Brothers is like Rolls Royce of moving with very reasonable prices. The movers are great. Very personable , clean, and polite. They communicate with you every step of the way. Asking you to check if everything is ok and did they get everything. They bro g all the padding and Shrink wrap. They brought wardrobe boxes and loaded them - which i was surprises. Thought i was going to have to do that. They will dismantle things like beds and mirrors from dressers. They arrived on time, were very careful to avoid damage to my home and very polite. Even moved a heavy planter upstairs for me. And fairly priced. We hired Carlson Brothers to move from our 3 bedroom 1.5 bath home to a larger home in a near by suburb. Having never hired movers before I convinced my husband the Carlson brothers where the way to go. From the owner coming to our house to note everything we owned to give us an estimate, and giving me countless packing tips allowing us to get as much done as possible before they arrived, to the swat team of 8 guys that arrived at our house on moving day with two trucks and countless packing materials. We had everything that would fit packed in boxes, and bunch of random kids toys, large pictures, lamps, and oddly shaped things that would not fit in a conventional 18" box. The team was so fast, they wrapped every piece of furniture in blankets, collected all the random things in giant boxes on wheels, took apart furniture as needed, and worked quickly and efficiently. Once everything was packed up, after a quick lunch stop they arrived at the new house and unpacked us so fast, putting together anything they had taken apart at the old house, and delivering everything to the rooms I had labeled the boxes with or directed them to as they came off the trucks. Once everything was unloaded they did a walk through making sure boxes where in the right rooms and furniture was placed where I wanted it to be. They moved some shelves left by the previous owners out to the garage and saved us a painful hour of work if we had to do it ourselves. We would HIGHLY recommend Carlson Brothers as we were so happy and floored by the efficient and wonderful experience they provided us with. The cost came in under their original estimate as they charge per hour, which was a wonderful benefit at the end of the day. I fully credit Carlson's for the ability to get my home in order to host Christmas just a week after our move. Thank you so much! read more

These guys were great. They helped move my parents from their home to assisted living. They moved china cabinets, beds, credenzas, valuable paintings, collectibles, as well as all the various knick knacks of life. Nothing was damaged. They wrapped everything and moved everything professionally without any cussing, or yelling! Believe me, if my husband and I were to have done it, there would have been plenty of yelling! Their pricing was reasonable and matched their estimate. Did I mention they were on time? They moved my parents in January during a very snowy day brought runners so they didn't track dirt into either place. I would highly recommend them. read more

I would give them 10 stars if I could. Where to begin? They were prompt, friendly and helpful with their estimate. They were super flexible in scheduling a moving day and were able to accommodate us on short notice. Their movers were all hard working despite it being a beast of a hot day. They took great care with our belongings. And the actual bill came in within 10% of the original estimate even though they ended up doing much more work than quoted. I LOVE THESE GUYS! They made one very stressful part of moving far less so. read more

Be careful and ask for more than an estimate. If the owner can't nail it down who can? Told we would need one truck and had to use two which changed the quote by over 30%! Estimate and final charge were over $1,000.00 apart. Paid for $10k of insurance, floor lamp purchased for $400.00 for new home (packed for move, brand new) was split in half during move. Told they would either cover packing materials quoted at $100 (quoted) or they would submit claim and I would get a "new" lamp at what they deemed comparable. Suddenly packing materials jumped to $250. As this is something most homeowners don't do often, take my advice and if you use a mover, make sure they stand by their quote. I love to give good reviews but unfortunately won't be giving one for Carlson Brothers Movers. read more

We hired Carlson Brothers to move us from Wheaton to St. Charles. The move could not have gone better. 6 guys, 2 trucks, and things went like clockwork to move from a 4 bedroom house to a 3 bedroom town home. The guys were very efficient and careful. Note that we did 98% of the packing ourselves to save money. We had Carlson pack a few items, like large pictures. There was no damage to anything. We also clearly marked nearly all items to identify where they were to go in the new house. This helped speed up the "move in" time. We also booked our move dates about 6-8 weeks early. Carlson tends to give up-front estimates that are on the high side, and deliberately so, to prevent "surprises" when the final bill is submitted. Our final bill was less than the estimate. The final bill was also well itemized, and the crew boss walked through each item so everything was clear. We would highly recommend Carlson Brothers to anyone needing a mover in the Chicago area. read more

My wife and I recently moved from a two-bedroom apartment in Downers Grove to a house in Naperville. John Carlson showed up to evaluate our move a couple of weeks before, and I found him to be helpful and professional. He explained the charges clearly, and was pretty spot on regarding the estimate. C.J., Chilo, and Juan showed up in a very timely fashion on the day of the move (they were actually earlier than anticipated, which I appreciated), and were professional and careful in every sense of the word. They made sure to treat our things with respect, and wrapped all of the bigger pieces in blankets in case of any accidental bumps. In addition, they provided wardrobe boxes in which to place our hanging clothes, and were nice enough to unpack those for us when we got to our house.
