So this is post-move 14 month update. We stored a lot of stuff in our garage since some of the stuff was going to be reloaded into a POD and transported to a second home to be purchased in Florida. I haven't written a Yelp review in over a decade. I am coming out of review retirement specifically to recommend Breda Moving after having them take care of our out-of-state move. Look, we all know moving sucks. It's the worst. I'd rather get a lobotomy. HOWEVER, Breda will make this terrible activity into something that is--dare I say?--enjoyable??? I first got in touch with Joe Breda months back, and he personally drove out to our three bedroom apartment to do a walkthrough and put together an estimate. One thing I truly appreciate about how they do things is that they estimate on the high-end of costs to mitigate any unfortunate surprises when the delivery happens. While their estimate was considerably higher than other places we looked, we ultimately went with them because of Joe's excellent, responsive communication and the obvious pride he takes in his work (also helps that we originally got a recommendation from a friend who had nothing but AMAZING THINGS to say about their cross-country move). I am so, so, so glad we did. Not only was Joe flexible with us, answering all of our questions leading up to the move, he was also able to make some adjustments ahead of our move, including accommodating a move date that was two weeks earlier than our original scheduled date. We had Breda's team pack our apartment, and their crew arrived right on time (in fact, about 10 minutes early), and the packing took about six hours. Not only was the crew efficient and OBSCENELY CAREFUL with all of our belongings (seriously, we never would have been that careful if we had done the packing ourselves), but they were also all extremely nice. My wife and I had a blast talking with them throughout the day, and it really put us at ease getting to know the folks who were handling our stuff. The next day was move day. Again, the team arrived slightly ahead of schedule, got straight to work, and in a few hours had us all packed up. They were super efficient and remarkably careful getting all of our belongings safely out of the apartment and onto the truck. We even have a couch that baaaaarely fit into our back room, and the team took the utmost care getting it out through a narrow hallway without scuffing or damaging any of the walls. Honestly, we had resigned ourselves to thinking that that item would be the thing that dinged us a bit on our security deposit. SPOILER ALERT: we got our full security deposit back because the Breda crew is just that friggin good. We were scheduled for delivery to our new house the next day. Joe handled the delivery personally with his team (he even brought his two kids along, who were awesome--they're not kidding when they say they're a family-run company). He called us when they were about an hour and a half away, and basically showed up right when they estimated. Even though it was a completely different crew than who packed up our stuff, they were all fast, friendly, and very, very careful with our belongings. Not to mention, the final cost came in well under their initial estimate. If you're reading this far, wow! I hope it's obvious just how happy I am with these folks. It's been over a week since the move was completed and I'm still thinking about what a great experience Breda provided. From first touch to final delivery, they took great care of us, and I would highly, highly recommend their services to anyone. This is my fourth move with Breda. I've had great experiences with them, but never wrote a review. They've outperformed my expectations on each move. This last move was "out of state" and an extremely positive experience for me, though unless I move back to Illinois, I may never have the opportunity, and honor, to use them again - though I would definitely utilize Wheaton Van Lines. After reaching out to Breda and setting a date for an estimate, Steve, the Breda estimator, conducted a thorough audit of my belongings. He arrived on-time and was instructive, kind, and personable - you couldn't ask for a better experience. Later, I spoke directly with Joe Breda, who worked with me on the packing, pick-up, shipping, and delivery/off loading details. He is a man of his word and, as a lifelong cynic, I found his candor and helpfulness refreshing Breda's move price was very reasonable and in-line with their competitors. They weren't the lowest bid I received, but ultimately, you get what you pay for, right? All items at my condo was expertly packed-up and loaded onto the Wheaton Van Lines (Breda is the local representative) truck, including my 2016 Tesla Model S, and delivered on time and undamaged. Their Driver Zack (and his son Ethan) kept in constant contact with me and supervised the off-loading of my household items, furniture, and the vehicle. Loading and unloading a 4000+ pound electric vehicle from a moving truck requires a flatbed towing truck on both ends. Zack arranged for them, and seamlessly, executed the activities. Impressive!! Though there were minor issues with a Keurig Coffee Machine and a ceramic eagle statue during the packing and loading, (both fully covered by the insurance, Steve the Estimator encouraged me to get), ALL my items arrived undamaged, securely packaged and wrapped, and gently unloaded. Zack and crew assembled my baby grand piano and placed it where I wanted, setup my electric-powered beds, dining room tables, and the glass tables and office desk. No scratches and everything works perfectly. Of as much importance to myself, the "movee", as the actual packing, pickup, transport, and delivery of my belongings; I would be remiss to not highlight the amazing patience, support work, and genuine kindness provided to me by the Breda office staff, including, Maddie, Chella, and Michelle. The entire office staff was great and "hand-held" a worrier like me throughout the whole process. As my move dates were fluid, there were several evenings when they stayed late to see that everything was done correctly. They went far above and beyond what my expectations were for a moving company's office staff, in terms of generating true customer satisfaction - they care about their customers. It's a skill and a feeling for others that cannot be faked. They are the real deal. So, if the safe transport and arrival of your valuable belongings are of great importance to you; if you want to work with business people and staff who keep their word; and if you want a "no-fuss" and caring moving experience - regardless of distance - use these folks. This review is for one year after our move (we moved Dec last year), so can't speak to anything about COVID. We had a unique circumstance, we were moving from Chicago to Texas. Breda, like all companies, quoted us a pick up day but the delivery was within a certain window, with no guarantee of when you get your stuff. Its just the way it works with interstate moves. From the time we signed the contract to the move date about a month later one of our kids got diagnosed with a pretty serious medical condition. We had to coordinate her care from Chicago to Texas and ensure no gaps in treament during the move. We were trying to coordinate where we were gonna stay while waiting for our stuff, how to take care of her at the hospital and get her treatment transferred over, etc. I called Joe from Breda to update him, we even considered delaying our move. I was concerned we would get charged for changing the date and the uncertainty of the move. Once Joe got wind of how serious things were, all he and his company did was help us. They were completely flexible on the move date. We scheduled a pickup day, and they got a volunteer driver to just pick up our stuff and drive it straight down to texas. They picked up our stuff on Thur and it was in Texas Sat morning being unloaded, which is almost unheard of for an interstate move. They did not charge us a penny more than the original quote. I've used a few other moving companies before for moves, and I've never had an experience like this. I always have had a lot of anxiety about moving companies hearing horror stories about stuff missing, delays in delivery, horrible customer service. These guys really showed they are not just about money, this could not have been a financially lucrative move for them to bring a truck to TX just for my stuff but they just wanted to help out given our situation. There is not possibly enough positive things I can say about this company. This is our families third time moving with this company in the last year. They were so good, fast, professional and fun to be around. We used the same team all three times (Nick, Andrew and Evan) and they actually make moving almost fun (I hate moving so I cant say its fun). We always use a 4 man team and this time it was Nick and he was awesome too! Also in one of our moves a piece of marble broke and they did EVERYTHING perfectly to get me a replacement. We used Breda moving company for our move recently. They were definitely above and beyond every other Mover we looked at from start to finish. They were very professional the entire time. They sent someone to actually survey what we were moving and gave us a very accurate quote, and let us know everything up front, there were no hidden fees or anything. We had some hiccups with our closing since we were buying and selling on the same day, and they were very flexible to make sure that we were able to get moved out and in smoothly, and gave us options if the close on our purchase did not go as planned. They made what could have been a stressful situation much easier to handle. Now the move itself was excellent. They were prompt and more than prepared. They actually sent 4 guys and a truck and a smaller truck to load up our house we were moving from. Then when one of the trucks was empty and there was not much left 2 of the guys left and took the other truck, and we only had to pay for the last 2 guys to finish the little bit that was left. I was quite impressed with the entire operation. That being said, I plan on never moving again, but if it so happens that I win the lottery and choose to move, Breda definitely will be my movers of choice!!! The guys who did the move were good for the most part. But, the supervisor was lazy, taking about 15 minutes to deconstruct a little lamp which had glass. I noticed after the fact and given they charge by hour. Let it slide, otherwise I'd take it myself, haha. Otherwise they did the job. MY Big problem I have was my quote was 400 less than actual. So either they underbid to win business, or they took their sweet time with the load and unload. I think it is the latter personally. The owner was the one who quoted me as well, and I specifically asked how often are quotes accurate to which he said is rarely an issue. U less something strange happens like horrible weather or the truck gets stuck in bad traffic. The hours to complete are pretty spot on. Upon receiving the bill which was just under 2k I questioned the guy and he stated the quote didn't include transit. This is completely false as the owner soecifically outlined estimated travel. In the end, I paid as I have more things to deal with when moving. but of course I was upset and disappointed read more

Breda did a great job at the last minute. Our original movers had to reschedule due to the polar vortex. Totally not their fault. They weren't able to get schedule use until next week, again not their fault. We were very anxious to get into our new home and give my parents their space back. We called Breda and they were able to come out the next day. They had competitve prices and did a great job with the move. The staff was also great. overall a good experience. Only thing i would like to see improved is the speed and work ethic and speed of the movers. They were a little slow and even took a break every hour or so - often smoking cigarettes at the truck. Also used some foul language which was obviously not appropriate. Not a problem, just something i noticed. I was helping them the whole time. When they took a break I kept working. A family member of mine moved a week later using a different moving company. I helped with that move as well. Those guys were noticeably faster. I gave each of them (4 guys) a good cash tip. I did not tip the Breda guys because they didn't really hustle for me. I feel they did not deserve a tip. They gave me the feel like they were "union" workers entitled to a slower pace and paid breaks. Just didn't sit well with me. That said, i still recommend them. Got a great quote via FaceTime call (no in person quotes due to Covid) as well as some very useful suggestions to make my move smoother and quicker. A team of 5 showed up on time and worked systematically from the moment they arrived and started packing the truck to the moment they left me at my new home with furniture in place, bed assembled, wardrobe boxes unpacked, clothes hung in the closets, and boxes in designated rooms or garage for unpacking later. Not only competent and professional but very friendly service from a bunch of guys who had a good time while they worked and truly seemed to enjoy their jobs. Unfortunately 2 of those people were "waiting" for the others to carry the furniture out of the house to pack onto the truck... which meant texting/playing with their phones. These guys are really great. Their prices are competitive and best of all, their customer service and pride in their work is amazing. Out of an abundance of caution, we elected to pack and secure all our belongings in advance. The Breda movers still carefully blanket wrapped every item and ensured that there was zero damage. I forgot some headphones sitting on the treadmill and guess what? They moved the treadmill into the new house, unwrapped it and placed my headphones exactly where I had left them. Where do I begin? We used Breda to move from our townhouse that we lived in for 7 years. And we had 2 storage units full of accumulated crap. Our move was local. The moving crew arrived promptly at 8am, as scheduled. They got right to work setting everything up. They were quick, efficient and did an excellent job wrapping up all our furniture and other valuables. Within one hour they had our entire downstairs packed onto the truck. The upstairs took about the same. We have a baby crib that had to be disasembled to fit out the door, so that took a little longer. By two hours, though, our house was empty! I drove with them to our storage unit place. The two units we own are in separate areas. Each unit is filled with boxes and misc. furniture (like I said, we have a lot of crap!). It probably took a good hour to clean out our storage units, which didn't surprise me given the maze they had to walk through between each unit and the loading dock (we used one of those inside storage places). From the storage area, they drove straight to our new house! They didn't waste any time and began unloading everything. Again, they were quick, efficient and very careful with everything. My wife stood by the door and directed them to where all of our belongings. Because everything had to be unloaded from the truck and placed in the proper room, and some of the furniture had to be re-assembled (ie. the crib) they worked for several hours into the afternoon. A lot of the furniture had to be manuvered around tight corners with some pretty tricky handling - the crew were professional and handled it with ease. They are obviously experienced at what they do. Their pace never slowed and we were even able to talk and joke around with the crew. They were very friendly & personable. In the end, our move could not have gone smoother! I have moved several times in my life and it's always stressful. Breda really took away a lot of that stress. None of belongings were damaged. The wood floors and walls don't have a scratch on them in our new house (same in our old house). I would definitely recommend these guys! They are a great company that obviously places a high premium on making the customer happy - and it shows. From the initial estimate to the final move, everything went great!!! We recently had a very difficult job of having my late Father's home packed up and moved out so we could sell his home; I was solely in town for this task and had limited time to get it all taken care of. I called a few other moving companies and couldn't understand how they were trying to give me an over the phone estimates-I mean don't they need to see the size of the home amount of belongings and furniture first? One moving company wouldn't even pick up the phone-I called them twice and the phone would just ring and ring and I left a message and it was never returned. Then I remembered someone telling me about Breda and I called them and it was just a GREAT experience working with them. They scheduled a rep to meet us at the house to give us an estimate for packing and moving. They worked really hard to schedule us upon their first availability, and they just took care of everything as they had promised and just made a very difficult process for my sister and I to be so easy and seamless. The best thing was, the end cost of the packing and move actually was LOWER than we were initially quoted. I would ONLY recommend this moving company to anyone who needs help with packing and/or moving. Customer service was exceptional and I thought their pricing and costs were very fair because you truly do get the service you pay for. I spent a lot of time research movers, talking to realtors for recommendations, and checking out reviews. All said Breda was the company to use, and I am so glad I did. So here is the great part: I moved from a condo in a high end managed condo build to a townhouse. I called up Breda and they came out to assess the move - which was a nice touch. They could check out the amount of stuff, the distance to move, etc. I found the estimate for both time and cost was extremely accurate. Even though I called really late in the month, they still found space for me to move on the Saturday I wanted (Morgan - you were so awesome to deal with). Every one I dealt with was extremely friendly. Turns out, my condo association doesn't allow moves on a Saturday, so Breda very graciously changed my date at the last minute. Crew was so friendly and professional. Everything was wrapped up with great care. I wasn't quite finished with packing when they showed up, but they worked around me and helped me out - and kept the time estimate. Everything was moved and unpacked great. The guys did a good job asking me where to put everything. I had to manage the move myself as my wife had to work and these guys made the day easy. So the truly great part: After the move I got a call from the Condo Association that I moved out of - claiming "great damage" the building I moved out of by the movers. I was a bit confused as I didn't see anything wrong as I left. I go back to check it out - there is a very small scratch in one of the elevator panels (a little bigger than my thumbnail). Took me a little bit to find it. Now, condo associations being what they are, demanded the panel get replaced as they want it good as new - to the tune of $2500. My previous landlord did a bunch of research to verify the cost. I called Breda up and the President of the company came out the next day to review the damage. He was very professional in inspecting the damage and despite any normal person agreeing it would fall under normal wear and tear in a building, he agreed to cover the cost as the cost was falling on me. I think this really shows the heart of what a family run business is all about. What is even better, Breda dealt directly with my former landlord and condo association to resolve the issue - for the most part, they kept me out of it. Bruce and the Breda team - thank you. Just moved from a first floor 1 bed/1 bath to a third floor 2/2 in Chicago, and it was smooth as can be. The woman taking my request suggested two movers since it didn't sound like I had alot and it would save me money... would've been right on target if I actually took correct inventory on my things! The fact that we went over the estimated time was totally on me; the movers were fast, professional, and very, very careful with my 100+ year-old bedroom furniture that is a family heirloom. I had way more boxes than I anticipated, so I actually felt a little bad, but the movers were incredibly patient - even as I packed up a few last ones to throw on the truck! I am moving in 6 weeks and have called a handful of moving companies for quotes. They're all the same, I fill out a document listing my furnishings, then walk thru the paperwork and get a quote. Not Breda. I called and left a message and received a call back from Madison to call her back "but they are booked thru July 20th". Very unprofessional. I called today and got another rude and indifferent young girl on the phone who said they could accommodate my request, but asked if I had a small move, they only had a short window available on my move date. Again, unprofessional. This is how they are selling their company to customers? Then she said they have to schedule a home or phone virtual walk thru to see my furnishings, they can't quote on the phone. She advised I have to take of work and be home for this walk thru...and it can't be scheduled for over 3 weeks. Wait, what? My QUOTE can't be scheduled for 3 weeks, and only 2 weeks prior to my move? Both of these girl were very unprofessional and don't know the meaning of customer service. I'd NEVER recommend this company. If this is how 2 separate employees treat a new customer just calling for basic info, how could they be trusted moving my belongings? HARD PASS on this company. read more

Not only was the team of Armando, Alex, Miguel and Billy professional, hard working, and efficient, they were simply very nice people that were pleasant to be around which was wonderful since we spent the full day together. I had Breda move me from a condo into a house. Bill, Mike, and Moises came on time and did a stellar job. They were careful with my belongings and very personable. They were also very helpful about suggesting how to do things and where I could put my furniture. They even "fixed" a wobbly table I had, because they took it all apart for the move and when they put it back together, they tightened up the bolts. They also put down the toilet seat when they used my restroom. Now that's good customer service, LOL!! We've tried to contact Breda moving several times with no call back from management. Once they have your money they couldn't care less about your experience. Our total bill was nearly double what they quoted us and they called back to say we were under charged and needed to charge us even more for drive time (which is somehow the same rate as move time). While Andre was a powerhouse on the day that we moved one of our three movers wasn't able to carry heavier items and we had a lot of heavy items. While it seemed some of our furniture was wrapped most pieces were chipped in the move somehow. There is one piece of furniture that now is totally broken and nonfunctional which was fine pre-move. The screws were ripped out of the drawers leaving it unrepairable. There are some serious scratches in our hardwood floors as well. Of course a few snags are to be expected in a move. But overall our post-move experience left us telling others to avoid this business at all costs. We considered opening a case with the BBB but hope they might see this post and finally stop ignorin read more

This company is not only very professional, but the team moving us were very friendly. Even though we only moved a short distance all items of furniture got wrapped in blankets (which they also removed for us after unloading). They roll out carpets so that they do not get your floors dirty or damaged, which we appreciated. We had a few pieces of very heavy furniture that mean a lot to us, and they took great care in getting them into our house. We contracted with Breda Movers to move us from Illinois to Arizona. They packed us up in May and put our belongings into storage while our house was built in Arizona. We drove to Arizona with our personal items in one car in June and shipped our second car (also via Breda). Our belongings were delivered to our new Arizona home in August. Each part of the move was exceptional. Six men packed up a two-story (plus garage and basement) house in six hours, a nine-man crew loaded our furniture and boxes into storage containers in five hours. All upholstered furniture was shrink wrapped, all other furniture was wrapped in blankets. All artwork and electronics were padded and wrapped in two-piece boxes. Each box and item was tagged with a number specific for our move. Another six-man crew unloaded our belongings and placed them in the appropriate rooms in about four hours. They reassembled our beds and dining room table. Each part of the move was completed to our satisfaction. Each crew member was polite, personable, and mindful of their surroundings. Nothing was damaged in the move (although we haven't yet unpacked our artwork). All boxed items were securely wrapped and when unwrapped, looked as though they were never moved. This entire process could have been very stressful, but Breda Movers made the process manageable. The company was also personally in touch with us throughout the move. We were always apprised of appointments and timing. Nothing was left to chance. Breda Movers did an OUTSTANDING job! read more

After making an extensive search online for a moving company, I decided to go with Breda Moving based on positive reviews online. I was not disappointed. Our move was pretty easy in terms of what needed to be moved, as we were moving from a two bedroom condo to another two bedroom condo, no appliances, etc. Therefore, we didn't need an on-site inspection to determine the crew we needed. The three-man crew assigned to our job arrived on time and were extremely friendly, professional, and a total pleasure to work with. They worked extremely efficiently, arranged our furniture to our specifications at the new condo, and finished ahead of time. The best thing? They came in at $100 less than the estimate. My family has used Breda twice in the past couple of decades. We got great service both times. When you make an appointment they don't itemize everything to nickel and dime you to death. They have reasonable rates. Their movers are courteous and efficient. They finished our recent move early and refunded us the difference compared to the quote. If I had written this review in January of 2011 it would have been at very least 4 stars. I moved from belmont and Harlem to rosemont, the crew was great! These guys were quick and extremely careful with my furniture especially my 67" tv. They maneuvered a couch we didn't think would fit through the hallway after a few attempts. They were very nice but had taken my sectional apart and wrapped it for the move but must have missed some screws putting it back together so it was soon thrown away. Other than that they were very polite. They were def on the pricey side but I was glad I had used them..... Fast forward to now (dealt with a short sale for six months and just backed out due to finding a better house) so we didn't have much warning to our closing other than it being before July so we got word a couple days ago it will most likely be this coming Thursday and we have to be out of our condo before the first. So I have an extremely busy work week 7-4pm for many days everyday into July from this coming wed. Sooooo I call Breda at night and leave a vm and get a vm from them bright and early while I was in the shower getting ready for work. It was a man who sounded super friendly. I was running late so I just got to work when my phone rang again. It was Breda but a woman this time I explained my dilemma and asked about afternoon moves only to receive condescending answers coated in bad attitude. I asked about the 21st and was told very matter of factly that they could either move me early in the morning (I'm at work can't take off) of late morning split in two days. Wow those are wonderful options for the modern world but did I really need to be given these choices so rudely? So she decides to check the date anyway unless iget someone to be there in my place i say June 21st to which she replies that they are booked the 27th oh ok But I said 21st, that's what isaid the 21st. Oh ok? Thenshe implies imdumb by saying "did u really think you could get a mover this fast? Well yes I did considering this is typical for moving!!! So instead of using Breda and recommending them I will now, thanks to the condescending woman on the phone find another!!! read more

Dealt with a very unpleasant person named Sue Breda. She wanted to schedule an in-house free quote and I was trying in good faith to schedule it with her, but my schedule didn't coincide with the availability of her people. So, she became over-the-top angry, told me off and hung up on me. I wasn't angry at any point during the conversation and I was left very bewildered at her behavior. Regardless, because of her inappropriate behavior I would categorize her and Breda Moving as being very difficult to deal with, unprofessional, angry and arrogant. I wouldn't recommend Breda to anyone because of my experience with them. read more

After a terrible experience with a contractor who decided to abandon a 94" x 80" on my property without my consent, I had to find someone to move it somewhere it'd be secure. 2 and a half days of not finding anyone to help and worrying about someone damaging the window, I called Breda Moving. Even though I called late on a Friday afternoon and with a weird request, Bob had no problem getting a crew together to stop by first thing Saturday morning. They were on right on time and got the job done in a few minutes. Considering the circumstances, Bob didn't take advantage of me and offered me a great price. These guys were a real life saver and I highly recommend them! I still haven't gotten my window installed, but at least I can sleep at night knowing that it's stored safe for the next contractor.
