I can highly recommend everyone to request Victor for one of your movers. He was quick & efficient…read more Victor is smart & handled my belongings with care. I do not recommend the mover named Alex. He was lazy, he tossed boxes that were clearly labeled "fragile". Alex was also defensive when I asked him to place the large heavy boxes at the bottom and place lighter items on top To prevent my items from getting crushed. Alex would then bad mouth me to Victor in another language, Russian, I think. He was as lazy & rude. But Victor was amazing & very professional! I regret that I gave Alex any cash tip. In my opinion, Victor deserved the whole cash tip. Victor is hard working and AWESOM!

Dan and Mike were absolutely fantastic throughout our POD pick up / load for our move to San Diego!…read moreFrom start to finish, they were professional, friendly, incredibly helpful, and made what could have been a stressful moving day feel completely seamless. Dan and Mike were also extremely communicative which I deeply value, since moving is such a stressful thing. They handled everything with care, worked efficiently, and went above and beyond to make sure all of our things were loaded with care. They were done within the HOUR. We had a one bedroom (and a LOT of stuff) and Dan and Mike were able to fit our things in an 8 x 8 pod. We genuinely couldn't have asked for a better moving experience. Dan and Mike were a pleasure to work with, and we would recommend them to anyone moving away or within the Chicago area without hesitation. Five stars all around!!!!

I worked with Joe and Al during my relocation from Chicago to Cleveland. I was in a top floor unit…read morein a three floor walk up, and they did an excellent job conducting a move with two people that was really a job for three people. They both took great care to make sure my items were protected when loading out of my apartment and onto the truck and even helped me pack many items that I hadn't packed by the time they arrived. If ever do another long distance move again, I would love to work with both of them again. Kourtnea Stevenson

Disappointing Experience After Five Previous Moves -- Questionable Charges and Poor Transparency…read more have used New City Movers approximately five times over the years, including in 2024 and 2025, and never experienced a problem with the actual moving service. Unfortunately, my most recent experience on October 12 has completely changed my opinion of this company. Based on what happened, I would not use them again or recommend them to others. My concerns with New City Movers actually began in 2023. I had a three-man crew, and after the movers left, I discovered that a brand-new, unopened bottle of Chanel fragrance was missing from my master bathroom. I had intentionally set aside my creams, colognes, and other personal products because I planned to move them myself. I was shocked. I had tipped each mover $100, yet I was left dealing with this situation. I contacted New City Movers, explained what had happened, and requested that the crew return with the tips I had given them. The company reimbursed me for the full amount of the missing fragrance. I appreciated that resolution and decided to give them another chance. Fast-forward to my October 12 move. I was initially quoted $160 per hour for two movers. I was moving out of a one-bedroom apartment by myself, with a relatively small amount of furniture and belongings. When I called to confirm the date and time, I was suddenly told the rate was $175 per hour. I had to go back and forth with the representative and email her the original quote to establish what I had been told. That should have been my warning to cancel the move and request my $100 deposit back. To be fair, the movers themselves did an excellent job. They worked efficiently and completed the move on time. My complaint is not about their work. My concern is the lack of transparency surrounding the charges and the way the company handled the billing. I was charged $489 for supplies, including shrink wrap, tape, and wrapping materials. I understand that moving companies need to protect furniture, and I am not disputing the need for supplies. However, I had a relatively small move involving items such as two nightstand lamps, a faux floral planter, and a small stand table. I was surprised by a supply charge of that size. I have shipped items myself and understand the materials involved in packing and protecting belongings. I believe customers deserve a clear explanation and itemized accounting of charges of this magnitude before they are added to the bill. The storage charges were another major concern. I was quoted $100 for storage plus $40 for a bulky item, my sofa. I understood that to mean I would be paying $140 per month. Instead, my card was charged $270. That difference was unexpected and has left me questioning how these charges were calculated and communicated. What makes this experience particularly disappointing is that I was a repeat customer who had trusted this company enough to use it multiple times. After the way the company handled my 2023 complaint, I believed it was worth giving them another chance. This time, however, the rate discrepancy, substantial supply charges, and unexpected storage charge have seriously damaged that trust. I only need storage for approximately three weeks, until November 1, and I intend to arrange for another moving company to retrieve my belongings from New City Movers' storage facility. My advice to anyone considering New City Movers: get EVERYTHING in writing before you commit. Confirm the hourly rate, the expected cost of supplies, all storage fees, bulky-item charges, and the exact amount that will be charged to your card. Ask for an itemized estimate and written clarification of any additional fees. Do not assume that a previous positive experience guarantees the same experience next time. It is unfortunate that after approximately five moves with this company, I am walking away feeling this way. The movers did their job well, but good labor does not excuse unclear pricing or unexpected charges. Trust and transparency matter just as much as getting the furniture from one place to another. I will not use New City Movers again, and I cannot recommend them based on my most recent experience. I hope other customers ask the right questions in advance so they do not find themselves dealing with the same concerns.
