All our stuff was very dusty and dirty when delivered. Damaged my wood entryway table, both ends smashed in. Lost one of our boxes with lots of various things in it. Lots of scratches and dings on our wood bedroom furniture and living room tables. read more

We contracted Beltmann Relocation Group to assist our move from Chicago to New York and had a fantastic experience. From the first initial meeting to attain a quote to the day our items were delivered, we had a positive and productive experience. Our move coordinator, Amanda, communicated well the different steps and what was expected of us and on the day of the move, the team that arrived worked quickly and efficiently. Our belongings were delivered safely and a week ahead of schedule! While I don't anticipate another cross country move (especially during a pandemic), I would not hesitate to use Beltmann. North American was contracted through Beltmann Relocation Group and, in our case, North American contracted its driver and the driver contracted the movers. We had a very good experience moving from AZ to WY. The driver was great and the movers he used in AZ were excellent. They wrapped every piece of furniture in moving blankets and plastic wrap. To save money, we didn't use their packers and I'd been packing slowly for months, even before putting the house on the market. The insurance was affordable, so we chose the no deductible option. Our load arrived within the week but in a different trailer. We were told and made aware our load would be moved from the trailer used to pick up our belongings in AZ to another before arriving in Cheyenne. Our driver arrived 2 hours before the movers, because they had not been contacted by the driver's scheduler prior to that day, and had to drive up from Denver. They were admittedly high and in a hurry as they hadn't expected to work on a Sunday, ripping through the plastic wrap with box cutters hastily. They managed to gouge and scratch my dresser, but we didn't find any damage to any other furniture items. Since we were moving from our snowbird home to our primary, we had the movers stack the boxes in our garage so we could take our time unpacking and finding a proper space for everything. Eleven days later, we discovered a small box containing my bocce ball set was missing and immediately contacted our K.V., our representative at Beltmann, to file a claim for that and the damage to the dresser. She was going to see if she could locate the missing box. We didn't hear anything from her for almost 30 days, so I reached out to her and she referred me to CO., a representative at Sirva, which I assumed is the insurance company, and I filled out the appropriate form to report our claim. We received notice from Sirva that the dresser would be fixed but the missing item was not covered because we didn't report it missing the day of the move, despite the fact that the claim form says you have up to nine (9) months to file a claim. Explaining why we didn't discover it missing sooner, I was informed my husband signed off on the inventory sheet even though we didn't mark off the "bingo card checklist." I explained we were not given that sheet to inventory and that the driver presented it to my husband as he was about to leave, only asking that he sign it. I appealed this decision and was referred to W.L., another person at Beltmann, or Sirva, or North American, because at this point I'm not sure which entity I'm dealing with, and then W.L. referred me to M.L, whom, we assumed, had the final say. Finally in August we received a letter from M.L. explaining: "It appears this item would have been packed in a pack by owner carton. I do not see this item listed on the inventory separately. Carrier personnel were not involved in packing items into the cartons and we have no knowledge of the contents of the cartons or the value of the contents," and for that reason they would only allow us a MAXIMUM of $150.00. The cost to replace the bocce ball set is $254.06. So, I guess, when one reason to deny coverage fails, you make up another. I don't understand how who packed what would make a difference. Like, would they know which box contained what items AND THE VALUE OF EACH if they contracted someone to pack our belongings? I asked M.L. and this is the reply I got, "As I indicated previously, the carrier has no knowledge of the contents or value of the contents of a packed by owner carton." And for that reason, as a "goodwill gesture," North American issued us another check to bring the amount up to the cost of the bocce ball, minus tax and shipping. I reminded M.L. that a goodwill gesture would have been to pay the claim in full in a timely manner. This took 7 months, several phone calls, a two page appeal letter, and 20+ emails. In conclusion, is the very affordable insurance worth the time and aggravation it took to receive compensation for the lost item? I suppose if you have the wherewithal to take on fighting for what's due, then YES! But is it right that you have to fight for a service you've paid for? NOPE! If North American feels that strongly about paying out a little over $200, I feel for those who have had much more in losses or damages. read more

This is going to be my first and last yelp review. I would give this company negative stars if I could. They missed our initial contacted delivery date and have pushed it back several times since then. Communication has been poor and information changes each time we call. Now they want us to pay more to store the furniture, when the only reason we would need to store it in the first place is their inabililty to find a driver on time. Save yourself the headache and use a different company. read more

Hired these guys to do a white glove delivery of 2 area rugs. Paid extra for that service. First, the movers refused to wear face masks in our house even if we provided them. We asked and they refused. It was against their political persuasion or something like that. I really don't care what their political persuasion is but I do care if I get Covid. From New York to LA, local governments have responded to the explosion in Covid cases this month by strongly recommending indoor masking again. But not these supermen. Finally, they refused to move anything out of the way in order to unroll the rugs. They would not even roll up the existing area rug. Nothing, nada. They stood by while my wife and I moved whatever was in the way. Took less than 5 minutes. I am 72 years old and she is 64. Obviously, these guys were not tipped and we are generous tippers. I even told them we were generous tippers. Lest you think that they were simply 2 knuckleheads violating company policy, they told us that they had called their manager who told them they did not have to wear masks inside nor move anything out of the way in order to unroll the area rugs. That kind of progressive thinking only comes from the top down. Oh, I almost forgot that they delivered the wrong rug. Also almost forgot that I recently sold a household goods moving company. I know the job well and I know what I would have told my movers. I would have told my movers to mask up and help the customer. The fact that Beltmann told the movers that their attitude toward masking and not helping the customer was OK, should make you think twice before hiring them , especially for white glove service. I know from experience that there are lots and lots of hard working movers in Illinois who would be thrilled to get the work and would encourage their guys to mask up, help the customer, and get tipped well. I feel guilty for having to give Beltmann a star! As mentioned previously- the quote was seamless. No problem. Seemed like a good guy. We had used them previously with relatively no issues.The issues here became apparent the day of the move. First, the driver of the van dropped off the van to go get his truck fixed and really left no one in charge Six guys or so descended on my house with the agenda to pack our house no matter how big and no matter what.....even boxes marked do not pack were packed. Everything was packed. Most everything was packed and overpacked. Boxes were so heavy it was impossible to move. Our request to keep "rooms together" was completely ignored to get maximum boxes packed. Stuff from our basement ended up- as we unpacked in boxes from our bedrooms- mind you a three story house! Complete randomness, A glass was broken and the packer just left the house after moving a box. Luckily I found the broken glass before one of our kids or the dog found it in their feet. I will give them credit though everything was unpacked and moved without an incident in this interstate move. Since our house was under construction- we just had them throw everything in the garage for the most part. Throw they did. Literally- so much little damage to many things- bikes, extra fridge, freezer..not claim worthy but noticeable and irritating. Still at this point, I would have given them three or maybe even four stars! But as the construction finished and the unpacking really began a few weeks later the stars started falling off. Beds but no pins to put up the frame? Why is this in my box- was a common refrain. The couch cushions were smashed inward. Just sloppy. We must have made 20 trips to the recycling with just paper from the boxes. Trees lost thier lives for this when uneccesary. When I wrote a letter to the company- expressing my dissatisfaction- the President of the company- wrote back to me a letter that can only be called anti customer...as if I was a petulant 5 year old rather than an adult male who was clearly frustrated by his company's handling of my move that we paid for. The representative seems to have disappeared completely from the scene too..at least the guy who is on top has their backs! Luckily we are not going to move again- hopefully but I would pay a little bit more to some of the other big moving companies to have this move redone and packed the way we asked them to move us. Beltmann, North American Van Lines will never be reccomended by me- as much for the post move customer service or lack thereof. read more

This is one of the only times I have written a review. This company is unethical and covers for their employees. A dresser was donated to one of the movers as they had several children and I was no longer in need of said furniture. Unknowingly, the original movers had left clothes in the dresser on packing (a service I paid for). A day after the move I realized that the entire dresser was filled with clothes and I called to ask to get my clothes back. I was told the items were disposed of and all that was left was a keyboard that was in the dresser. They said my only recourse was to file an insurance claim which I did, only for them to state it was not their fault as I should have known there were items in the dresser. Considering I paid to have my items packed in the first place, and on the inventory list the dresser did not list any clothes inside, I had no knowledge of the items still in the dresser when I donated it. Less than a day later I was informed the items were disposed of and could not get them back. I highly discourage use of this company. They are unethical from top to bottom. read more

Regrettably I need to recommend against this company after using them for 4 times since 2011. The first 2 worked well (interstate) the 3rd (local, moving from homes in Chicago) was average with some minor damage to furniture and walls (it happens) and this last one (also local moving to Chicago suburbs) in later in 2018 was the worst experience: - Personal belongings went missing - Severely damaged furniture - Damaged home (that the company did repair however, after great stress) - Attempt to renegotiate costs on the day of the move - Miscalculated the truck size so things were left behind that we had to get a pickup to retrieve (and several damaged items in oder to fit the truck) To be fair to the company, I'm limiting my review to the Greater Chicago operation they have, since the team in Florida was very good. read more

This was my first experience with a moving company, and I think I would have been better off renting a Uhaul, as I have relatively few possessions. I selected this company pretty much based on convenience. I was in the process of finding an apartment across country and didn't have the time to wait for other moving quotes. Moving companies must have your acceptance of a quote a certain amount of time in advance so that they can schedule their truck to come to your place within a window of time. Unfortunately, because I had set up a flight to go check out apartments, I didn't have the time to get other quotes. I've broken everything down as it happened. 1. Quote process. Woman that quoted the move was friendly, and prompt. Although she proceeded to talk smack about the city that I was moving to (Midwest people are friendlier blah blah blaaa) I was also informed that my stuff was pretty much a "lower priority" due to my small amount of possessions. 2. After quote follow up: After I received the quote, I had some items that I had to either pack myself, or get rid of. Due to this, I called the move coordinator and the quote agent to request a quote modification. The response was slower than I would have liked. Emailed twice with no response, called 2-3 times with no response. To their credit, they did end up responding, but I had further questions that I was promised a call back on and never received. 3. Move timing: As I had decided to drive my car across country due to retrieval logistics, and having an immediate need for a car, the time to have the move complete and leaving enough time to drive in a comfortable amount of time was beginning to shrink rapidly. I was elated to find out that the moving coordinator had scheduled the move for the 26th of the month, and would call me 24hrs. beforehand to give me an exact time. This would leave me enough time to drive comfortably. When it got to be less than 24hrs. before and when I did not receive a call, I emailed to find out what was going on. I got a curt "sorry", but your move won't be on the 26th. On the 26th, I called again to see when the date would be, and there was an allusion to the 27th, but most likely the 28th from 8-10AM. On the 27th, I got a call stating that the move time would be on the 28th from 12-2PM. At this point, this was about my worst case scenario to drive and make it on time for my first day of work. The movers ended up showing up on the 28th, shortly after 2PM. 4. Payment / price. The payment process seemed a little antiquated with forms that had to be filled out and faxed/scanned back with a credit card number. Not sure if other companies are like this, but an online form would have been awesome (especially since my scanner was packed :P). Price was about $2100 for a studio apartment. 5. Quality of move: The guys that picked up my stuff in Chicago were pretty cool, hence the extra star. Not sure about the guys that dropped it off, as my brother was there for the week (luckily) to meet them and they did not call me in advance, which makes me wonder if I would have known they even came had my brother not been there, or if they would have just charged me the fee for holding my stuff. One box had a broken Pyrex container, and all boxes had a thick layer of dust on them. I would recommend renting a U-haul and getting a family member to assist in moving (we all know friends have been out of question since college) if you have a smaller amount of possessions, because this company seems to focus more on large moves. I'd also recommend starting the quote process at least a month before your move, and looking at numerous companies. read more

This was a very bad experience. The packers arrived the day before and did a nice job. The next day we got a call 2 hours after the truck was scheduled that they could not make it and wanted to reschedule for the next week. We agreed on that Saturday (2 days). They were late that day as well. The delivery was pushed back 2 days and he called when he was supposed to be here and said he was 4 hours out. When he finally arrived he had only one helper when he clearly needed 2-3. Several pieces of furniture were damaged including an heirloom marked as extremely fragile. When trying to resolve this nightmare the attendant was rude. I will never use this company again. read more

I generally don't write reviews but feel compelled to warn others not to use Beltman. Once I signed the contract, things started to go sideways. Communication was not good and eventually they changed my pack date to the same day they wanted to move. This meant that four guys descended on my home and were packing and loading a truck so fast I wasn't able to watch to make sure they documented and cared for the items they moved. Since this was an out of state move, they loaded my stuff on to a smaller truck and had to take it somewhere where they loaded it on to a larger truck. I can only imagine, based on the condition of my items, that they did not show the same amount of care for my things during that exchange as they did when I was watching. The delivery truck was nearly three days later than expected in arriving with my items - which meant I was without my belongings for over a week. As they unloaded, I noticed broken items and later some missing items. Even the truck driver noted a broken lamp on his paperwork. I filed a claim and didn't hear back for nearly a month - then it was just a rude email denial. No reason was given for the denial and when I asked for one, I was given a nasty response. I haven't quite unpacked everything yet, but agree with the reviewer who noted the inordinate amount of paper used to pack things. Some boxes had only one item in them and tons of paper. Items and rooms were not kept together and the boxes were not labeled legibly nor accurately. I wouldn't recommend Beltman. I would, however, recommend that no matter who you use - take video of all your belongings BEFORE and note their condition. Don't let them move anything of value and WATCH them as they pack and document every box and belonging as they put it on the truck. Don't let them rush --- and then count and document everything on the other end. read more

Beltmann never notified me that boxes packed by me weren't covered (these included an antique doll collection and appliances) - if they did I would have asked them to repack them. Our experience with Beltmann and North American was terrible! We have been through 10 large house/full truck moves with multiple brand name companies over the years and this was by far the worst. For starters, Beltmann breached our contract with them as they missed the outside promised date by 3 days on the first shipment and 9 days on the second shipment. And we went multiple days where NO one at Beltmann or North American Corporate could tell us where our goods were. Imagine the stress of not even knowing where most everything you own is! The Sales person, Brian Jozwiak, would not return our texts or calls during all our problems, which included the several days after the goods left our house until anyone at Beltmann or North America could even tell us where the goods were. Inexcusable for a Sales Person to not try communicate with or try and help their customer. The Operations Manager , Mike Harvey, provided false information in terms of what the packers would do versus the movers (packers would shrink wrap and inventory the goods - which they didn't , we would get four packers the second day- which we didn't, the second day packers would be experienced including with kitchen and fine china - which they weren't). The day two packers were also overwhelmed with what they had to do in one day and we had to continually show them things they didn't pack... this resulted in time and quality problems. Mr. Harvey also would not contact us after repeated requests to speak with him. Pathetic. We were told by Mr. Jozwiak and Mr. Harvey that our goods would fit on one truck. Beltmann/North American sent a semi trailer attached to a cab instead of a traditional moving truck and as a result we ended up with an overflow situation and two shipments. Which extended our moving days and delivery. We were given false information on the movement of our goods, then for several days no information , then told the trailer was located in a train yard in Chicago!! Also although we have requested it, Beltmann would not send us an actual official weight document or bill of lading showing a documented weight on our overflow shipment. We were told the paperwork is "with Accounting" and it would take several weeks. We received this on our larger shipment. We don't believe the weight they gave us with the unofficial info on the overflow which means they are overcharging us. Eventually when no one could tell us where are goods were I contacted the President of North American. His assistant called back same day (a Friday) saying she would check things out and call me back Monday. I never heard back and called her the following Wednesday only for her to tell me she got busy and hadn't gotten to it ... and had she had no answers. In summary - poor quality, false information, lack of returned texts and calls, split shipments, breach of contract due to delayed delivery and multiple days not even knowing where the shipments are all add up to a company (Beltmann or North American) you should never use for your move. . read more

We used Beltmann to move us from Naperville IL to Charleston SC. The segments (appraisal, packing, loading, and delivery) were seamless and handled very well. I was always able to contact the facilitator at Head Office and she regularly checked in with me during the move.At delivery and unpacking the lead driver was very professional, however his assistants were quite inexperienced. Nevertheless he made up for their inexperience. The cost was in the midpoint of the 3 other Van Lines we interviewed. All in all I would certainly recommend this company. read more

They were very professional and fast, you don't have to worry about a thing with your stuff - we basically just told them which ones to pack and which ones we need for ourselves. Do yourself a favor and do not use this company. I used them for our move from IL to AZ in July and when the truck arrived at our new home it was a complete disaster. Numerous pieces broken and scratched beyond repair. Apparently the truck had been loaded onto a different truck for transport to AZ and it looked likeour belongings were literally thrown into the trailer. The driver who delivered the load said it was the worst he had ever seen. We have moved across country on three other occassions and NEVER had a claim. We thought we were OK becuase we had purchased the extra insurance....WRONG! On a17 thousand dollar claim they offered me 2 thousand dollars. They are telling me that a desk and an end table that both had a leg torn off...not broken off...TORN OFF a repairable item. Give me a break. You can't imagine the disappointment in seeing the things you work so hard to acquire over the years arrive in shambles. So sad. read more

Incompetent, dishonest, and unethical. SO much went wrong with our 1,400 mile move from Chicago, I don't know where to start with this review, so I'll just hit one highlight. They charged us extra to move expensive chandeliers, charged us for the insurance, delivered them a month late - broke them - and then would not accept responsibility and refused to pay for them. The lights were among several broken items, and the total cost to us for moving, insuring, and replacing the broken items was more than $7,000. As we tried to resolve it, the local office in Roselle stopped taking our phone calls, so we had to hide caller ID to reach them. They lied repeatedly about instructions they supposedly gave to us, and refused to take responsibility for breaking our items. In more than 40 years of dealing with movers, and contractors - this is the most unethical outfit I have EVER dealt with. We are in the process of reporting them to every state authority we can so that more people will be aware of their shady practices. Shame on this group of cowards. read more

I cant speak for all Beltmann locations but this location does not have their stuff together. Remember Brian is a salesman, his job is to sell. Once he has a job, there is ZERO involvement and he will say whatever he needs to get the job. He told us that if your shipment is late Beltmann will pay you $150 per day. We did a cross country move. Initially we were told guaranteed delivery within 1 week. once we signed the job, it became 10-14 days guaranteed window which last day was Aug 26th. Shipment was picked up on August 13th, it sat in Chicago in a warehouse for 1 week! We received half of shipment within the window. We were shocked and asked about rest of our stuff. we were told that there was not sufficient space in the shipment and it is still in Chicago. Mind you, i have a 6 month old and a 3 year old , we were missing all the kitchen supplies. Amanda is good person to talk to, she told us that since the shipment is delayed, we would be reimbursed $75 flat rate per day or stuff we need. She adamantly told us that most people don't bother with receipts and take the $75 per day reimbursement. We even received a concern call from GM Mike about the delay. BUT the delay ended up being up until Sept 14th because of weather, labor day holidays, them being backed up and whole glory of excuses! We had been eating out and buying things that we needed but we didn't keep receipts as we were planning on taking the $75 per day that AMANDA TOLD US about. We file the claim and the claim department denies it saying that we did receive our shipment on time! I got an email from Amanda apologizing and still waiting on GM to call me. Few insights : Beltmann sales pitch, 'we have been in business for very long' Dont buy it, they lack ethics. may be its everyone in the moving industry. 2nd: they pitch that everyone involved is a beltmann employees. NO THEY ARE NOT! All beltmann does is manages and hires jobs out to contractors who will wear anyone's name t-shirt. They squeeze monies on all ends. there isnt clear communication between all the parties because they are ALL contractors!! Recommendations: Beltmann, Don't lie. Put yourself in my situation. Have a clear communication from sales team (Brian), the coordinator (Amanda) to claims (Donna). may be, have everyone review each other's stuff that they are telling customers?? Overall, I would grade them F for clarity, C for Communication which was full of lies F- timely delivery and just 1 star of getting my stuff to me even if it took them 1 month. If you are looking for 1 star experience, Beltmann is for you. I have realized that there is NO difference between these big companies and small ones. They are all HEADACHES but big ones LIE and spend a lot of monies on PR. read more

I requested to have my items removed and I would drive it myself but was told I would have to pay the $2500 originally quoted as well as an UNPACKING FEE!!! We used Beltmann to move from Geneva, IL to Greensboro, NC, and we could not have been happier with the process. I wasn't initially won over when they came to the house to price everything out, but the bid came back very competitive and we ultimately decided to go with Beltmann. Good decision! After signing, I received my first of many calls from Briyanna, our move coordinator. She was so thorough in explaining the process, letting us know what to expect, and answering any questions. The best part is that she called back regularly to check in and see if we had any additional questions as the move approached, during the move itself, and the days following the move. Do you know how nice it is to have someone calling to check in on you vs. having to hunt someone down? What a nice change of pace! The move itself was a tad more eventful than we'd hoped because the truck was more full than anticipated (not the driver's fault), and the driver and his team took inordinate time and care to make sure every single item of ours made it into their truck. This was not a small feat! The movers were punctual, worked hard, were careful in our home and with our stuff, and did a great job! Same thing on the delivery end. They stayed until well after dark to make sure our stuff was put back exactly as it was when they got it. Thank you, Beltmann! read more

If you are looking for a full service mover in Florida and are checking the reviews to help with your decision, pick one of the other companies. I will save you some time. Our initial experience was somewhat ok, until the packers arrived. They would pop in and ask if they could have things, they wrapped shoes but tossed framed pictures in boxes with electronics (leaving us with a box of broken glass pieces many times over), we found loose knives everywhere, they did an absolutely deplorable job packing our belongings. Everyone was late, and left food wrappers and big gulp cups all over. At one point they asked to borrow a pen, which was later found in the middle of the living room floor. We started to voice our concerns to the less than helpful office staff, to which I was asked "is this your first full service move?" It was not since we were military family at one point. The office staff then informed me that our expectations were too high. When the loaders arrived we had all but given up hope that this move wouldn't be a complete disaster. The loader showed up an hour early (before 7:30 am) with one other helper. They took 11 hours to load our stuff, leaving my husband to almost fall asleep at the wheel during his 25 drive across country once they left. The driver/loader damaged our bikes by forcing the handles inward, bending the wheels, scratched or chest of drawers as well as our brand new dining table top, did not put ANYTHING together leaving us with at least 3 lamps we are missing pieces to, our bed was slapped together and now dips in the middle and makes noises it never did before, etc. The office staff is worthless now that they got our more than 8 grand for what I wouldn't let someone pay ME to have done again. If you are looking to have a stress free experience, try Mayflower or any of the other reputable movers. This is basically the low end company of any full service move, from the operational side of things, all the way to the office staff and person who gives you the quote. Save yourself the headache and pay a few dollars more or get a POD. But do not go with Beltmann North American. read more

I used Beltmann/ North American Van Lines) for my move from Chicago to Long Island, NY. Everything went smoothly and there were no surprises, price-wise or move-wise. My main contact, Adam Coolidge (also did the in-home estimate) was very good at responding quickly to any calls. The quote was the lowest of the movers that did in-home quotes (I have used the phone-only estimates before and those are lower but are NOT guaranteed no matter what they tell you), and they guaranteed the price. That price did not change even though the actual weight of my shipment was actually 200# more. The movers who picked up my stuff were on time, and were polite and friendly. The movers who delivered my stuff were also on time and very a good bunch as well. No one gave me any attitude at all (unlike with some moves I have made in the past, with other movers). I am now 3 months post-move and I have not discovered any items/boxes lost, and nothing was broken during the move. I did have Beltmann provide about 50-60% of my packing (they only charge you for what they pack. you don't have to go with complete pack vs no packing). I have moved MANY times in my life, and have managed the last few moves by myself (I'm a military brat) and of the ones I managed, this move was by far the smoothest and stress-free. Beltmann was on time, didn't lose/break anything, and did not tack any extra charges after the fact. On top of that, the aforementioned representative, Adam, was great at getting back to you (all calls returned within 24 hrs). Unfortunately, many movers out there do not provide this kind of experience/service. My moving experience with Beltmann was drama-free and super straight forward. Beltmann was pretty helpful and accommodating, straightforward and upfront on the scheduling and business side. Their consultant was super-friendly and helpful getting me set up for my move from Chicago to San Francisco. Unfortunately their otherwise polite and friendly movers were a little rushed and this led to a hasty partial dismantling (and subsequent destruction) of my coffee table, and possibly contributed to my missing floor lamp. I know that stuff happens but it sucked that such a good experience with the business could be marred by these mistakes. I would still probably use them again. read more

The WORST experience ever! I used them to move from Chicago to NYC and it is a nighmare that is still going after i have moved. it started with wrong quote and now im stuck with broken lamp that it was extra insured and no one can help me! Oh and plus there were 4 people working as in one month they have changed all employees! I still cant get my money from them and no phone calls or emails explaining me how can get my mony for broken lamp during a moving! Also, items were not packed in the boxes, like lamps and my art school stuff and put in the huge truck without any protection! BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! Actually NO customer service at all!! read more

Started off as a good experience... Dad downsized for assisted living, and called Beltmann to give an estimate. Communication with the office was great - except for MASSIVE delays on pickup day....my 8:30am start time was delayed to 1pm and at 1:30 was delayed to 3:30...they showed up at 5:30. Delivery in Palm Springs was to be the 6th, so my flight was arranged to be in town to receive it - only to hear the day before that it was moved to the 11th. When I followed up to confirm that, they moved it to the 15th...a BIG difference from the 6th... Called a supervisor and got it moved to today - the 12th, and driver confirmed an 8:30am delivery....SURPRISE - at 8:36 got the call he was delayed 3 hours....I'm hopeful it'll happen before Sundown....and hopeful my stuff will arrive ok. I get that delays happen - but at least attempt to be apologetic about it instead of making excuses and passing the blame... read more

I am currently using Beltmann Relocation Group and North American Van Lines for my move from Chicago to Durham, NC. On the Chicago side of the move, the packers and movers were very professional and efficient. Unfortunately, my possessions are still sitting in Carol Stream, IL and a driver has not been assigned to my move (it was supposed to be delivered July 19th-22nd). While I am aware that this is a very busy time for movers, this delay has been a major inconvenience for me and Beltmann seems to be doing little about it. We got stuck using this company through a corporate relocation. From Brian screwing up the initial walk thru, mis-quoting time and materials, from the corporate office switching teams around because "this happens all the time in this business" per Stacy, then you should be prepared for it. Items broken, un-truths told; for example our entertainment center fell apart, when I personally watched them pack it and dissemble it so no it did not. Help is on the way, when no one shows up. To oh we thought that hand dolly was ours (it was NEW!) so we owe you one to not wrapping already assembled model cars and throwing them in a box to not packing some items that are now left behind! I could go on and on but they don't deserve anymore of my time. If you value your belongings, take heed, they talk a good talk but...... I would give them a negative 10 stars if I could. Massive recovery from this mess and they are suppose to come back and unpack! They WILL NOT be coming into my house again! read more

I used Beltmann to move from their storage unit in Roselle to St Louis. The GM, Mike Harvey, gives very polished lip-service -- when he takes your call. After he had my coordinator, Brianna Purifoye correct my actuall move weight (she tried to over charge me), she told me I was to have 3 professional movers deliver my stuff out of their storage to me in StLouis, MO. Brianna told me they would arrive on Friday, May 26, between 8-10 a.m, then closer to noon, then 3:30. I told Brianna I would not accept a night time move and she lied, saying they left at 11 a.m and would be in St. Louis in only 4.5 hours. She said the move-in with set up would only take 2-2.5 hours. They stayed for 5 hours, leaving my belongings in total disarray. Mike Harvey would not take or return my phone call before noon on Friday 5/26 or around 5 pm at night when I was still waiting for the movers. Finally, at 6:45 p.m, one employee and his buddy showed up in a bulging, rented, Ryder truck. The guys told me they left Chicago at noon. Brianna lies again. The buddy explained that he didn't work for the company but his friend Blaise, the employee, had just learned on Thursday night he had to do this move alone. In subsequent attempts with both the mover, Blaise, and Mike Harvey, they refused to give me the non-insured, non-bonded employee's full name. Sending someone in to handle my furniture and valuables that was not an insured employee is just the beginning. Because my friend who had volunteered to help me manage the move-in couldn't wait past 5 pm, I was alone for most of the move. The guys left stuff in my garage, all over my home, piled boxes on top of my white ottoman (which like so many other pieces oddly were now not wrapped.) They refused to unpack or set up glass table tops or tvs as I was promised they would do. There was a specific written order for them to set up my entertainment center. They not only just dumped the pieces in my freshly painted entry way with out setting it up, , but I learned after they left that the mover and his uninsured buddy had totally marked up the walls with these pieces of furniture. I immediately saw that they had not delivered (lost) two wardrobe boxes -- one contained all of my coats including two shearling coats and two silk coats, two chairs, another box of clothing including my shorts, tops and swimsuits ( how difficult is it for you ladies to find even one good $200 swimsuit), my office credenza, a tv stand and more. They broke my desk, they gouged out my office return, I have a 3 inch gouge in my dining table, the white couch and ottoman which were suspiciously unwrapped are now filthy, they lost the shelves to my dining room buffet, etc. THEN when I finally reached Mike Harvey on Tuesday, he said he would send out a crew to set up my entertainment center. The guys with this new company, Alliance, finally came out on a Friday afternoon and then on Saturday, This after they stood me up on a Wednesday afternoon and Harvey claimed he would help but did nothing. This new team from Alliance identified that Beltmann not only gouged my entertainment center pearwood doors, but they had definitely lost at least one major piece of the center. I already sent a photo of another major piece they had trashed to Harvey. During the week, Harvey sent an email telling me he was talking to two North American VPs, yet he would never give me their names. In addition, he had told me he would expedite my claim which he received on Friday, June 2. But early the next week, when I finally reached someone at North American, they said he had not even registered the move much less turned over the claim. Ironically, when I first kept asking him who to go to at North American, their parent company, he kept saying not to call them as they would just kick it back to him. On June 5, a SIRVA representative, North American's parent company, cc'd me on an email to Mike Harvey instructing him to call me. Nothing. I only purchased $30K worth of insurance, thinking a three man team could easily handle my move in a regular North American truck. However, I have figured out that at least $45K worth of clothing and furniture has been lost or severely damaged by their one employee and his buddy in a bulging, rented Ryder truck. This company first of all lacks in CUSTOMER SERVICE!! This is our first experience with a moving company, and from all my friends and family, this is NOT common! We have been waiting 3 weeks for our things. Our stuff has missed two trucks now. And I had to call to check on things to find out that our things didn't get loaded each time!!! No ONE can tell us when we will get our things and this is totally putting my family out. My 3 kids have been moved to a strange place where they know no one... and they don't even have their belongings, toys or anything that is 'the same'. It's hard enough to take your family and move far away, and when it takes THIS long to get all your possessions, is just RIDICULOUS! Beltmann Relocation was assigned to my husband & me by his relocation company through his work. Let me paint a picture for you... We have a 1 bedroom condo, 780sq.ft. in downtown Chicago. You can't fit a lot of things into that kind of condo, so we have 1 of everything.. one bed, one dresser, one couch, one medium sized flat screen TV... you get it. We get the quote from the Beltmann, and it was $9,900!!! $814 was to take down, move and remount our TV. $756 was to disassemble and reassemble our 4 IKEA bookshelves, that were only worth $300 in total. And let me tell you the most ridiculous thing of all: Because our move from Chicago to Milwaukee includes a short interstate drive, it's their company "policy" to use a 55' long semi-truck (for a 1 bedroom condo!?!) Not only that, but they were requiring the use of a shuttle to get to our condo's loading dock. So included in our lovely quote was the loading of all of our things onto a 25' truck, the unloading of these things down the street and the reloading of everything onto the 55' long semi. Then the semi drives to Milwaukee, unloads everything onto a smaller truck, and then the truck drives to the new apt and we can finally unpack at the destination. You've got to be kidding me! and to top it all off, because we wanted the move to take place on a Saturday, they were planning to charge time and half for labor for that day, because a Saturday is overtime. Not to be rude but are movers now white collar? Is it a holiday that requires overtime...? I don't think so. After I started complaining about the insane costs, the overtime, the need for a semi-truck.., not to mention the horrible customer service, un-returned calls and emails... the price started to drop with a "congratulations, your move will be even less expensive!" from the Beltmann Corporate relocation consultant assigned to us, Stephanie. At this point I'd had it. I do not want to be made to feel as though you're doing me a favor. A good company should do whatever it takes to provide a great service, and this company apparently didn't want our business at all! I cancelled our move with Beltmann and booked another moving company for literally 1/3 the cost of Beltmann. My new movers were courteous, fast and wanted my business. They did a phenomenal job. Beltmann could learn a lesson. Good luck getting your BBB accreditation back, you need to change a lot of things. read more

DO not use this company! They do not stand behind what you contract with them for and do not care at all about providing any level of customer service and will lie to you every step of the way. We used them to move from NY to South Carolina and it was a nightmare. First they did not move us out on the date that we contracted for and really did not care about the huge inconvenience this would be. I will spare the laundry list of items that went wrong but the worst was when we did finally get our items in SC nearly every box that came off the truck was damaged. Countless items that were cherished were broken and furniture destroyed. The crew that unloaded the truck in SC said it "looked like the items were thrown onto the truck". Every step of the way I was in touch with James Essex, the GM who told me this was "unacceptable" and that I would be compensated beyond just the claims on the broken items. He kept saying things like "I will have to wait for the claims part to be completed and once that's done I can move forward with anything additional". Always implying that I would compensated for their complete failure in providing a service I had contracted for. But then after emailing him every week to no response I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Jodi Emery who told me that I would not get anything additional. That James did not promise to compensate me which is a lie. That really they did nothing wrong because my items still arrived in the window that they promised. If you care about your belongings and want to have a move that is in line with everything that you contracted for and spent a lot of money on DO NOT USE BELTMANN GROUP! The communication with clients is poor to say the least. Our stuff was picked up on the 21st and we were told it was going to be delivered on the 28th. If we had not called to follow-up today, we would not have found out our belongings are still sitting in Carol Stream, IL and a driver has not been assigned. I used Beltman for a move from Pittsburgh to Jacksonville, FL. Things started well but went rapidly downhill. Overcharged by thousands, additional thousands in damage that have been denied in the claims process based on a technicality. And to top it all off - many items missing/stolen. Claims company response.... "file charges with the police" - Seriously???? 10 grand for this???? Ugh! Avoid at all costs. read more

I've used Beltmann three times in the past five years for local moves, and each time was a great experience. I've already recommended them to someone I know moving in our area. They arrive promptly and their movers are professional and always finished sooner than the quoted time, and they usually included an extra guy I wasn't charged for. Their prices were competitive. They can take apart any furniture, maneuver it around narrow stairwells, and still get it reassembled without any damage at the other end. They don't even complain when I changed my mind about switching the floor I wanted a heavy piece of furniture placed on. My this latest move, I even had to reschedule three times - once at the last minute - due to unforeseen circumstances at the destination, and this was handled without any trace of concern by my move coordinator (Carmen). I'm impressed and won't hesitate to use them again in the future. read more

My move from Chicago to DC was absolutely terrible. I wish I could give zero stars. My items were "lost" (probably stolen), and I was subjected to a horribly sexist crew, and Beltmann did nothing to make things right. Scheduling was a mess, especially on the delivery side. I needed 24 hours notice to reserve my elevator for move-in, which I made clear. Beltmann had me speak directly to my driver, who never answered and would not call back after many messages. When we did finally speak, he referred to me only as "Princess", which is incredibly offensive and sexist. He was condescending during the dropoff, and continued to speak to me in a very sexist manner. On top of this, many of my items were not delivered (including a very nice Bose stereo). I noted on the dropoff paperwork what was missing per the instructions from my driver, and immediately called and emailed Beltmann to make them aware. They told me to file a claim, which was then denied! I followed all the procedure as I was told, but because my driver did not turn in the paperwork, my claim was denied. I told the claims manager that I filled out paperwork and forwarded emails between me and Beltmann, but she didn't seem to care and made no effort to investigate why the terrible, sexist driver didn't turn in the dropoff forms.\ I seriously don't understand how they have good reviews after the service I received. read more
