Move out is a headache. Called 5 times and had call dropped while speaking to someone. For a company and location that will not stop reaching out if they need something from you, you'd expect them to at least be capable of removing your lock prior to cancellation. Will never use again. read more

Well I just had an interaction with "Dez" about an issue with regards to my unit. I wont go into what the issue was however I was and have been thoroughly disappointed and dissatisfied with the service I have received up until this interaction. This was the first time in over 2 years that I felt as though I was actually important as a customer. Dez was remarkable not only in her demeanor and professionalism but also in her problem solving skills. I recommend that public storage do whatever necessary to keep this valuable asset in their front line of customer service! I'll start by saying I only picked one star because I had to. If there was a negative star option, I would chose it. DO NOT USE PUBLIC STORAGE to store your items!!! Long story short, their air conditioning system leaked and several items of ours were completely ruined, including a priceless poster wedding photo, and several pricey formal dresses. This "leak" must've happened more than a month ago, because there is growing mold on many of our wooden picture frames... The dresses and other clothing that got SOAKED smell disgusting! There is standing water in the bottom of our storage unit! They didn't even bother to call us to let us know there was a leak!!!!! They say... we can't possibly call everyone who rents here... but, of course, they can absolutely call if someone is 1/2 a second late on their rent!!!! #publicstoragesucks read more

I am disappointed by this location. Management used to be good, but now it's terrible. I was without light for 6 months, the first time I noticed it I went to the office to let them know. 3 weeks later it hadn't been replaced so I went to the office again to say something, the employee cut me off and said "Yeah. I know. And it's going to be out until they are replaced." I may not be a scholar, but I do know how light bulbs are replaced. I don't think it is acceptable that it takes 6 months to change a few light bulbs. After reaching out to corporate about the above issue I just received a generic canned response and "thanks for being a customer, your happiness is important to us." Right. This location also keeps the automatic doors closed because they don't want people breaking them, that's what the employee said when asked why we couldn't use those doors. So there is a side door you have to go through and shimmy your things through the small single-door opening. It's been like this for weeks, I have been going there once or twice a week for the past month moving my things out and it's the same every time. They've also reduced their hours because it's cold out. It's a climate-controlled indoor storage facility, I'm not sure why it has to open late and close early due to the cold weather. One last thing here - and maybe this is true everywhere, but when I signed up I was told it was a certain monthly amount...two weeks later the price was raised because I'm required to pay insurance. Since then there have been regular price increases, over the past 3 years the fee has gone up almost 30%. I won't ever use this location (or company) ever again. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY - SPECIFICALLY THIS LOCATION: I worked with an employee here to reserve a unit, and she walked me through the reservation process. She told me multiple times that I would not be charged for the reservation, and only on my move in date as I was still shopping for other units/companies, etc.. A few days later, before my move in date, I was charged for first months rent, administrative fee, insurance, and a padlock. When I called to get an explanation, I was directed to two regional managers who offered to refund what was charged, but told me that they were keeping the administrate fee. Corporate also confirmed they would not be refunding that cost. Not only did this employee blatantly lie to me, charged my bank account under false pretenses - but the company is keeping a portion of my money because, in their words, "there is nothing we can do." On top of that, I was told 3-5 business days for a full refund, and it's been 5 business days with no refund. Corporate then told me 7 business days. This location, and company, are an absolute joke. Stay far away. read more

The gentlemen who I believe is the manager is the perfect example of what I consider excellent customer service. He was very informative and extremely cheerful emitting great vibes into the atmosphere. You can't go wrong with this place and they certainly know how to treat a customer like a Human and not a dollar sign. The manager Mikki wasn't able to explain clearly a corporate policy that I was made to learn the hard way. When you pay for your storage in advance (like a good customer) and have to move out, quickly early in the month, you will not get a refund for the balance of the month. When you call corporate, they will explain this to you and say they "do not have the ability to refund unused portion of the month" but what the actually mean is, they do not have the desire to refunds. So they pressure you into completing your reservation with a rude voicemail and an email stating if you don't do it TODAY your unit will be GONE. Well I really thought I needed that unit so I put so I paid $61.74 on 9/22/2020 around noon, then on 9/24/2020 at 9:40 am I called to tell them I no longer needed the unit. The manager Micki is very helpful , nice to talk to , but can not do anything about the rate increases that go on ever 6 months!!!! The property is very nice but does not have a loading bay so you are loading and unloading in the rain and snow. :( Also will take any payments over the phone. read more

I have had a storage unit at this location now for a little over 9 months, and when I came in to switch to a different size unit Melissa was more than helpful!!! She not only assisted me with all the necessary paper work and explained all the fine print to me, but also kind and super professional! I see a lot of people have complained about rate increases, however I have not encountered such circumstances yet. She was quick to answer all of my questions and explain anything I needed more information about. She is the best! read more

Manager is very nice.. very helpful. The only complaint I have is that our unit which is located quite a distance from the elevator requires us to walk through other units that are storing some kind of spices. They are overwhelming and make my eyes burn if I stay more than a few minutes. Otherwise property is clean and very accessible. read more

The front desk staff is always nice and willing to help. They keep the facilities tidy, but maintenance can take a while to fix things. There are carts on location you can use to move your stuff but you need to ask for a key from the front desk to use them most of the time. I haven't had any problem with mice or other rodents getting into my stuff. Overall I'm happy with having my stuff stored at this location. read more

The Property Manager is very knowledgeable about her property and about the business. I like the climate controlled atmosphere, though it is honestly still cold in winter and hot in summer, regardless of the climate control. It is better than having your unit directly outdoors. My complaints are with corporate, not local facilities. Their policies are backwards, their rate increases make you not want to keep your stuff there even if you have no other options and they don't maintain their own property. Everything is outsourced and it takes months and years to get necessary items like say A GATE or a DVR fixed. Not sure who is running Public Storage, but I an guarantee you, If a gate or DVR were broken at any facility, there would be no waiting. 3 quotes within a day and repairs within hours. This is a significant liability to a company. My customers' satisfaction would be more important than anything and if they don't feel safe and they don't feel their stuff is safe, they are going to move one. That means I just lost a customer. in my book, that's not an option. My complaints would be regarding rates increasing frequently, the lights are always out and the timers don't seem to be affective. You're practically all the way down the hall before the lights turn on. Being a single mom and bringing my kids there, I am scared at times that I might be bringing them to danger even though it's daytime. You can't see your hand in front of your face at times. I was notified that my gate code had recently been used to enter but not exit the facility. This concerns me because I was not on the property at the date or time that my code was used. I asked for video surveillance and guess what? The DVR is broken, so they are recording, but can't play the recording back. I give the local store ***** 5 stars ***** but I give Corporate * 1 star *. read more

Debbie is a wonderful associate at Public Storage. She is friendly and knowledgeable about the property and is always helpful and in high spirits. Under her care, I have noticed improvements to the cleanliness of the facility. Hire more associtates like Debbie - she is a breath of fresh air. read more

This storage facility is not suitable for a pharma rep. Due to their corporate policy, they will not sign for packages and packages will be returned. They leave it up to the deliverer (UPS, FedEx) to deliver the packages to your storage unit and they are not always willing to do this. Also, the staff is never available. On several occasions, I would visit the facility and the doors were lock. The experience was not user friendly! read more

Wow, I don't even know how to start. So the $1 for the first month is a "LIE" ~ After all their Hidden Administration fees the mandatory extra insurance that they make you buy that day. It ended up costing me over $60 for a small 10x10 area for the SO CALLED $1 for the first month it is a JOKE and another $117 ever month after $$$. But even worse the RUDE customer service I got from Leslee M. was unreal. I'm a nice person and I get along with everyone, but that girl needs to work on here people skills. So RUDE with every step of the process, and I was biting my not to snap back at her. But the funny part is she hands me this SERVERY at the end and requested I leave her a 5-Star rating. (NOT TODAY) Leslee M., you need to treat your customer with more respect, with out us renting your space, you out of a job. ~ A simple SMILE goes a long way. But I do have to say I called the Manager Melissa the next day and she was very sweet and helpfully over the phone, But she was not in the office the day I can in to rent, or this review may have gone the other way. Micki was very helpful and friendly. The location has climate controlled clean units and good access hours. The issues that we have are with the actual facility and the rules. The carts are padlocked and require a key that you have to get from the front office and is only available during business hours. This is very inconvenient when making trips after work and having no cart available. Also, since you unload\load at the dock and have to go around to the front and find a staff member to get\return a key it is painful. Is the security at the location that questionable that carts are padlocked? Additionally, the pavement at the dock is uneven so when trying to get a full cart into the facility it is almost impossible without everything falling off or needing to lift it over the bump. read more

We have been with this facility since 2007 so WE KNOW THIS PROPERTY. The property manger is a fantastic person and is very responsive to your needs. However, the corporate people that run this facility are blind to the concept of retaining good customers. Our rent has increased over the years, which is expected, if and only if the property is kept up and facility maintenance is performed. The washrooms are disgusting, the place smells of curie, the front gate is left open all too many times (this is not my definition of a secure facility). The main doors used to access your units do not work properly so the District Manager of the Chicago area decided that when the weather is too cold you can not have access to your unit unless the main office is open. This means that while all documentation states access to you unit from 6:00 am to 9:00 PM, during cold days, you can only access your unit if the main office is open (9:30 am -6:00 pm); utterly ridiculous and pretty sure illegal based on the contract that everyone signs. DO NOT RENT HERE or any other Public Storage. The policies of Corporate Public Storage are not geared towards Customer Satisfaction, Customer Retention or Well Maintained Facilities. I strongly recommend you check out U-STORE-IT; so much better!!! read more
