    None of the glass-covered photos were protected or wrapped at all, and most of them cracked.

    Use professional movers who know how to move things without breaking things or stealing things.

    Our experience was, overall, good. Julio was the crew lead and the guys did a pretty good job. I chose New City for a couple reasons, one being that I had a discount via my job for the free use of wardrobe boxes and free tape. (That last was even more useful than I expected because we had them packing for us, and I was mentally tallying how many rolls of tape they were using and almost considered telling them they didn't have to use so much tape.) They arrived around 7 am or so and started working, and it took a few hours with the packing and then getting stuff on the truck. The move was complete by about 5 pm, I think. They were friendly and good at their job. I was somewhat annoyed that some of the things I'd directed them to place somewhere were put in a different location, since there's now the possibility that I have to move them and that's part of what I paid them for. However, I am reconsidering some of the layout which may minimize the re-moving of boxes/items, and overall they did a good job. I would consider using them again. It wasn't cheap by a long shot. And don't be surprised if you're asked to give a $800 or so tip--you can tip but obviously you don't have to tip that much. I certainly wasn't expecting that and it wasn't in my budget to give them anywhere near that amount. They packed up a bunch of stuff for me because it was just near impossible for me to make much progress with a clingy 11-12 month old who was not keen on letting me do the work and obviously couldn't help with any of it herself. One of the reasons I chose them, besides not having to pack things that could hang in a wardrobe box, is that they were able to give me a pretty good estimate and they could do it all on the day of the move; I called The Professionals and they were talking about coming over a couple days so that they could pack and then do the move. That was just too disruptive for us, so New City got my business.

    Thanks new city moving for filling my garbage cans and recycling bins with all your plastic trash!! Wasn't even me that moved it was the neighbor across the alley. What kind of company leaves their trash everywhere? There's nowhere to put my trash now so the rats will get to it. You all suck

    My clothes on hangers were dumped  box despite us purchasing wardrobe boxes. A wardrobe box was used to pack our patio furniture cushions.

    ***DO NOT BOOK A MOVE until you read this honest testimonial.*** What was supposed to be a happy move has turned into a week of anxiety and frustration. We booked a Saturday move from our condo in the city to a house 20 miles away. After using the company once before, we had hoped for the same experience. We were quoted an estimate of $2,857 for a 3.5 hour load, 3.5 hour unload and 1.5 hours of travel and the estimator mentioned multiple times that the move would likely take closer to 6 hours. We originally were going to pack ourselves and 2 days prior decided to have kitchenware and closets done for us, we called to request this and were told this wouldn't be a problem and the additional cost would just be the extra hourly rate for packing time, we were never given a second physical quote. We were told we would have 5 movers. On moving day, they promptly arrived at 8:00am and we were surprised to find that we had a team of 4 men and 1 woman. A few hours in, it became clear that the team was not moving efficiently. At 1, we were informed that one truck was not going to be enough, and work slowed even more. The foreman spent the next 30 minutes coordinating a 2nd truck and the rest of the crew was operating short handed. At 1:30, 5.5 hours after beginning, one of the men had to leave the job to get a second truck. At this point I started to move items from our downstairs storage myself to get the process moving faster. I moved an entire storage closet from the basement to the truck, which was included in the estimate. The trucks finally left our condo at 3:10pm, 7 hours after arrival. It was a 60+ minute drive to the new house. The team already looked defeated and exhausted at this point. It was 8:00 pm when they finally finished, and the clock kept rolling for an additional 30 minutes of cleanup. Then it was time for the final bill, $6,446, which included $1,880 of packing materials. We almost hit the floor after an estimate of $2,857! We immediately spoke to the dispatcher Maria who informed us her hands were tied on billing and we would be forced to pay and discuss with a manager on Monday. Monday came and went and we never received a call. On Tuesday we called and spoke with Yolanda who said we would need to speak to Gio in the claims department and she would open a case. It is now Friday, 6 days after the move and we have not received a call back. We have called daily and are clearly being given a run around. WE REVIEWED DOCUMENTS FOR THE FINAL BILLING THIS WEEK AND MY PARTNER'S SIGNATURE WAS FORGED UNDER THE SHIPPER SIGNATURE LINE BEFORE INITIATION OF THE MOVE. We feel that the need for a second truck was inappropriate given their video estimation process, which clearly showed the contents of our condo. We feel we have been scammed and cheated out of our money. We are pursuing all avenues to get fair reimbursement for the poor estimate and the difference in our payment from the estimate. Ironically, a person named Wendell verbally stated that the estimation system had glitched. This is a ridiculous statement because Devon movers gave us a very similar quote using their own estimation. Given that we have not heard back from anyone at New City Moving, our next step is contacting the BBB because there is clearly some inappropriate business practices happening, and we want to encourage everyone else to be very careful with this company. To make matters worse, this final bill came to us after I had handed a generous $800 gratuity to the foreman. Final cost, $7,200 + refreshments provided throughout the move. -------------- UPDATE 7/31 (2 weeks after move): We have been continually given the run around on phone calls and emails. The local Chicago office directs us to corporate "All my sons, Business development LLC". We have been told we need to speak with Geoff National Claims/Customer Care Center but he has not returned our emails or calls since a failed attempt 7 days ago. We have been unpacking boxes and are finding extremely wasteful use of packing materials. This is just an insanely bad experience. ------------- UPDATE AFTER THE COMPANY REPLY BELOW... We have tried calling the number directly during normal business hours and nobody picks it. It goes to a voice mailbox and that mailbox has been "full" for 2 weeks. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!

    Do they break down furniture as well? I have a desk I would love to move along with my furniture but it's very complex to assemble/disassemble

    I'm not 100% sure, but I think they will. I moved with a new headboard in a box, and they offered to put it together without my asking. BUT keep in mind that the extra time will be added to your moving cost.

    Will they make multiple drop off stops? One will be in Logan Square, 2 in wisconsin

    Yes. During one of our moves we asked if they could make multiple stops and they were more than accommodating. Just be sure to let them know ahead of time so they can schedule ample time into their estimate for the stops.

Which is why I am here: to yell my praises from digital mountain tops! I was (very generously) gifted an early Christmas present from my mom of a full day/organizing session with M2O... AND IT WAS THE BEST GIFT I EVER RECEIVED! It is truly the gift that keeps on giving. **Hint hint, people- Christmas is less than 3 weeks away, if you are struggling for ideas. ;-) Schae and Britney were spectacular! They rolled into my place like two boss ladies ready to get down to business (but not in a scary way lol)! They put on a fun playlist and took charge, which is what I like and needed. They let me help (obviously not required, but desired on my part to learn) and taught me helpful tips and tricks along the way to maintain the organization. Best of all, they knew how to prioritize my projects in the order that made most sense, and maximized efficiency and my time with them. Not a minute wasted and no stone (aka leftover crap I didn't need anymore) left unturned! AND, like, how helpful and convenient it is that they haul away as many donations for you as they can when they leave?! At the end of the day (literally), I had the best nights sleep that I'd had in years, knowing that there was (finally!) a place for everything and everything in its place. Not only did M2O grant me peace of mind, they motivated me to keep going and see what I can accomplish on my own with what I learned from them. And the productivity levels on all the DIY projects I've set aside over the years are through the roof! My home is, now, finally the way I want and need it to be- it is first and foremost, my sanctuary. Thanks to M2O! But don't worry, I would never claim to be a 'Master Organizer' like them though- there are still some projects that seem just too overwhelming to undertake myself...like where do I even start?! There was no way we could have unpacked and organized our kitchen and bathrooms over the next few weeks, which is what their team excelled to do in less than a day. Mackenzie was very responsive starting from original quote to appointment day. Because of this they came fully prepared and we feel every minute they used here was optimized to the fullest. It's our first time using this kind of service and Mackenzie, Chloe, Brittany, Mary and Melanie have officially spoiled us for all moves to come. Our home brings us so much joy now.

Including our parents ashes, one of a kind art pieces made by myself and my late husband, irreplaceable family heirlooms and so much more. Oue entire lives. We were victims of a Con artist and took a financial hit that was extremely difficult to recover from. We fell behind on the rent. I presented our hardship to the staff here. I cried and begged them to please give us time to not loose everything we had. But, instead they raised the rent. We did everything we could to raise the money. Paid them thousands and got within a few hundred dollars from paid off. So, they raised the rent again and added more fees. We begged. My Mother even paid what she could and begged them as well to have a heart. But, we lost everything. The money we thought would be our cushion to be able to rebuild our lives went to paying fees to these heartless people. We were $200 short and we lost everything. Still on the streets now hoping to rebuild our lives. Stay Away!!

This is absurd and absolutely ridiculous and absurd!!!! I have not even been there for a year and they 50% increased my storage unit rent!!!! After doing my research, there are PLENTY of cheaper storage units around. Do yourself a favor and do your research before going with this place. It's worth saving money and worth the extra moving from storage unit to storage unit.
