Imagine paying $220 for a storage unit and one day paying a moving truck $170 to bring a fridge in just to find out that you can't access the storage because their general access pad is broken! No notice absolutely nothing!! The access pad broke and they just put a Slappy notice on the door so it's saying it's broken have a good life They happily charge every month, if you are late with yoir payment for three days or if they don't know how to properly charge your credit card they would happily charge you $50 late fee however they quickly made their problem your problem instead of hiring someone to stay there for all the hours of access until the access pad is fixed they decided to just ignore the problem altogether when I did call in the morning the guy said ma'am I just got here, everybody's complaining- we don't have a solution nothing can be done Basically STAY FAR AWAY Can't wait to move out

You have to write down the full Credit Card number, the expiration date, and even the CVV on what looks like a badly photocopied piece of paper. When we had to change the card on file, we had to actually go to the office and complete another dodgy looking form, rather do it online, securely, through a website or an app. Surely having to write down your entire Credit Card number with expiration date and CVV is not PCI compliant (and yet I did it anyway). Two, they raised our rate immediately after signing up and then they raised it again shortly after that. We hadn't even had the unit for one year. Our original rate was $47/month when we joined in May, in July it was raised to $59/month, and then in November it was $65/month. Three, we attempted to access our storage unit outside of office hours a few times but the pin pad to get into the building was broken more often than it worked. The last time we went, our car was full of stuff but couldn't get in (again). This was deal breaker for us. Other things that were annoying: there is no dedicated parking, only street parking. The office and lobby area wreak of cigarette smoke. The storage unit itself was fine, but the floor was unfinished. When we went to say we were moving out, there were no questions asked. Just a "what is your unit number?" and "sign here" and "here's your move out receipt". Like ok, bye?

Just don't do it. I would not recommend storing your items here. 1) we are on the ground floor and…read moreit is moldy. Visible white mold and everything smells like mildew. 2) They have got you where they want you! Once you move in, it's a continuous fight about the price. It consistently goes up, up and up. I have spoken to them numerous times and they lower it slightly, now they are raising my rent by $50 dollars at one go. Forget it!! Find another cheaper storage space or just don't store your stuff at all! It's not worth it. I don't think other spaces try to bleed you dry in the same way as Public Storage. My friend uses U-Haul and they have not raised his rent in years. (I must say though that the staff, when they are there, are very polite and competent.)

They give you time to move your whole life into the unit then raise it when you're the most vulnerable (when items would take a lot of work to move). I'm only 3 months into my stay and they just raised my rent from $70 to $110. A $40 price increase is ridiculous. They say they can do this because of "supply and demand" and that summer is their busiest even though there are hundreds of units sitting empty. I am quite literally always the only one on my entire floor when I'm there. It's all a game to them. My advice is to go to a small business/mom and pop style storage in the suburbs that will treat you much better.

My 1st visit was really good as Maria showed me around and explained how the units worked. Upon hearing that I would need my storage unit for a couple more weeks Maria extended my reservation to keep my rate and that really helped. On move in day I was given a phone call the day before, to check to make sure what time I was going to arrive. I was able to reschedule my time when I realised that the time slot didn't work any longer. The office staff were very flexible with helping me out. I was able to complete the whole moving process in less than 30 minutes. Overall I am happy with my unit I end up getting a 10 by 7 and a 1/2. I do like the ease of unloading my S UV into their docking station. I appreciate the climate control as it can get really hot during the summer and I was worried about my electronics. This was the true reason I picked this location even though about $50 more per month than the location about 2 miles away. All in all super excited about the fringe benefits of this location, To include utilization of a moving truck. The nice thing is that they allow you to use the moving truck up to 2 weeks from your moving date. This alone is going to save me a $150.

So far so good! I am…read morein the process of preparing for a move, which means doing a lot of clutter control to do. Part of that is renting a storage space for some of that stuff. I toured a unit a couple weeks ago with Paul and I appreciated the time to get to take a look. They seem to have various promotions going at any time so when I finally signed up this weekend, I will get a month free (except for some one-time fees) and there's also a lower rate on the unit for a few months (hopefully). I'm hoping we'll need the unit for fewer than six months so it is a good deal for us. The place boasts climate control, which I hope is true. I'm still a bit nervous about it to be honest so I may not put some of board game collection in there, and some of the photos I put in will be packed in some plastic tubs I have. I rented a 10x5 unit, and took a couple of loads of stuff over yesterday morning. For my purposes, the unit size should provide ample space--I'd rather it be too large than have to cram things in! If you're thinking, "Aesha, I would get lost in there and some poor unsuspecting person would come upon my incoherent, feral self after minutes of hopeless wandering," let me tell you that I thought that too. Luckily, they anticipated that endless hallways of doors that look identical could cause some confusion, so they have little signs in various places that direct you to the elevator, office, etc. The manager (Brian, I think) signed me up and took me on another tour to show me how to use the lock and introduce me to the facility. There are several parking spaces around but there's also a drive-in garage. The garage and the elevators are controlled by your unique access code to make sure only authorized folks are in the place. Access is available 6am-10pm daily using your code, and the office is closed Sunday, and light sensors will turn lights on in areas as people enter them. I confirmed that there's not a problem with movers coming to empty a unit--though hopefully the door will stay open for them given the size of their trucks. I guess that's a problem for another day.

They encourage you to leave a review when you first sign up (I was told there was a competition amongst them to get the most reviews), so it probably makes things skewed to be exceedingly positive before you're a longer term customer. The unloading dock/gagage has a tendancy to fill up particularly on weekends, which makes it difficult to use because the other parking spots they have on the side of the building are usually about six inches underwater. The other side is used for parking by CTA buses. I was initially assigned a spot in the basement, and I would have absolutely avoided renting a space there if I had known better. The basement smells very musty, which I imagine is from damp issues (you can see water marks on the concrete and they have the moisture absorber gel scattered around). My above ground space had no smells or issues. This location is also quite expensive for what you get. But if you can stomach the price and avoid the basement, it's a good place to rent a storage space.
