The Lock Up has made several significant upgrades since they bought it a couple years ago: modern elevator in addition to the service elevator, a solid cement ramp to make the building fully accessible, and keycode entry so you can have access on evenings and weekends (it isn't 24/7 though). Although prices have increased because of their improvements they have not been significant enough to make us search for alternatives. Staff is friendly and auto-pay is easy to set up.

I think a great solution would be to not bury the fine print so far from the pricing but put a short notice below the pricing for each unit - simply that price is subject to change at anytime with 15 days notice. I certainly would've paused and considered other options. Original one star review: Bait and switch pricing. Increased my rent 65% after less than 3 months with only 20 days notice. You have to scroll down 6 pages to find the fine print that says they can change pricing at any time with 15 days notice. This is a summer storage unit for my daughter's dorm and we're not local so it wouldn't make sense for us to fly out and move to another facility. Will never do business with them again. Utterly ridiculous and shady business practice.

She explained all the steps we needed to get a new key including a new lock if needed . She was very courteous and again very helpful . I highly recommend Public storage . You have to write down the full Credit Card number, the expiration date, and even the CVV on what looks like a badly photocopied piece of paper. When we had to change the card on file, we had to actually go to the office and complete another dodgy looking form, rather do it online, securely, through a website or an app. Surely having to write down your entire Credit Card number with expiration date and CVV is not PCI compliant (and yet I did it anyway). Two, they raised our rate immediately after signing up and then they raised it again shortly after that. We hadn't even had the unit for one year. Our original rate was $47/month when we joined in May, in July it was raised to $59/month, and then in November it was $65/month. Three, we attempted to access our storage unit outside of office hours a few times but the pin pad to get into the building was broken more often than it worked. The last time we went, our car was full of stuff but couldn't get in (again). This was deal breaker for us. Other things that were annoying: there is no dedicated parking, only street parking. The office and lobby area wreak of cigarette smoke. The storage unit itself was fine, but the floor was unfinished. When we went to say we were moving out, there were no questions asked. Just a "what is your unit number?" and "sign here" and "here's your move out receipt". Like ok, bye?

When I helped my son to move his stuff into this storage, we already experienced something not quite pleasant, broken elevator, dirty unit floor, rent increase, unresponsive staff, even if you see them in the office, they never pick up the call, voicemail only and always. Have you ever moved the big couch and TV stands through a narrow staircase tunnel to the 7th floor before? yea, we did! But I can promise you this is not the worst. On July 11, 2025 we planned to move the stuff out and load to the U-Haul as quickly as possible due to our tight schedules. When we got to the storage we found out that one of the docking bays was already occupied by a yellow Penske truck, and we thought it would not be that bad, coz there is another bay available at least. But when we opened the other gate, we were shocked, - we found a dark red SUV parked over there, and no activities at all around it. We asked the Penske moving staff if it was their vehicle, and the response was no. My son went to the office asking the staff about it, and he got some responses like 'it is a first come first serve policy', 'we can do nothing about it', 'we can't move the customer's vehicle even if nothing happens there'. We waited over for a while, hoping the customer would show up and move the SUV out, but nothing happened. I went to the office again, and talked with the staff George, and I unsurprisingly got the same response. At that moment we knew we had to do it the hard way: we had to unload the stuff in the middle of the docking area and carry them down through the stairs, and a long alley outside the storage where our U-Haul was parked. The door was closing with an unadjustable ancient timer, we needed to struggle quite a bit when we two carried the heavy stuff and the door was to close. That was very exhausting work. It was supposed to finish pretty quickly, but it was dragged way deep into the night. You will not feel surprised if I tell you that our schedules afterwards were all screwed up. And here is the most 'beautiful' part of our story: Around 5 pm when we were unloading the stuff in the docking area, we saw George get out of the office with a backpack on shoulder. No one would have a second thought except that he was ready to go home. When he saw us, the embarrassment was just flushing out from his face. He chatted with us a bit, yea, and embarrassingly, and then he went back to his office. We went back upstairs for another load, and when we were back to the docking area again, the SUV was gone, and, yea, George was gone too. There is a big TV in the office showing the activities from a lot of spots/angles by the surveillance cameras. Do you need to know anything more to understand what has happened?!! At that moment my third finger flew up into the sky. Hey Mr. George, I write this review by intentionally giving a lot of details like date, time, the color of the Penske, and certainly your name, and you are sooo and soooo welcomed to challenge me for any details I mentioned above. And if you are confident in the size of your balls, you can defend yourself too. You know what you did, do you? Hey Public Storage management, I am not sure how your HR policy works, but let's assume that this is your own business, would you even consider keeping such an employee with such a horrible incident? If that SUV was from a customer, I would still feel mad, but would not as much as is now. We two talked with him in a very frustrating but very polite tone, and he declined us both. I don't think he did not see our struggles the whole time with that big TV in front of him. It is really hard to imagine how brazen he would be in his job or with other customers. I will post this same review to whatever platform I know. If Mr. George had such guts to do that, I am sure he would have the same guts to take care of the consequences from that. After I called to confirm our move with them the day before, they sent one less mover than I contracted for (they sent 2, not 3) and THE TRUCK WAS TOO SMALL TO FIT EVEN 3/4 OF OUR 2 BEDROOM APARTMENT. How does that even happen? I've seen larger trucks used for smaller moves. My husband spent 7 hours moving heavy boxes and furniture alongside the crew because they literally could not get the job done without him. After 7 hours, we hired a Task Rabbit with a moving truck to come assist, for $250, and I still paid $900 to Mark's. Again, this was a 2 bedroom apartment, not a mansion. I have not received a call back to mend this situation and am appalled. I suggest you do not work with this company.

When signing up we had a quote for the amount of items and $60 for any pick up or drop off appointments. At some point during the time we stored with them they changed their policy so the appointment fee to drop off our things back to us after storage is $800! Its highly inconsiderate and unimaginable to have customers sign up for $60 fees and change that to $800 after the agreement was already made, and they have the customer's items. I cannot understand a change like that, and will be reaching out to their billing department to dispute this charge. Makespace is an efficient moving and storage combo company. The process of preparing made sense; we told the company what items we needed stored and they sent us bags so we can pack ahead of time. We were able to work with Rick and Travis who did great jobs moving us out of one place and in to our next place. Rick is a friendly, outspoken personable character; he has a lot of moving knowledge that was helpful for breaking down furniture and placement of furniture. The customer service was helpful when we called to make appointments or discuss billing. We were able to go to the storage facility to drop off additional storage items. We used the storage for around 6/7 months.
