    One of the biggest reasons I picked MakeSpace for storage was how easy it is to schedule/request delivery. From a technology standpoint, it's quite impressive. I believe they do a really good job with integrating their technology and marketing to customers. Unfortunately, that's where it stops. While they have a solid business model, their execution is THE ABSOLUTE WORST. Let me preface this by saying that my storage unit had nearly 200 pieces so my storage space, I would guess, is probably on the larger side of their average customer. That said, MakeSpace was completely irresponsible and unprofessional with my belongings. Here are my biggest complaints: * They failed to deliver all requested items on a specific day delaying our move. * They lost 3 mattress box springs (think about that for a second, how does one misplace an item that large - and 3 of them, for that matter!) ** In the end, they damaged nearly all of my furniture worth over $7,000 (see pictures attached). For a company whose sole business is delivering and storing items, this company did not deliver on any accounts. If you are looking for peace of mind with your belongings, I would highly discourage you from using MakeSpace.

    I used Makespace to pick up my items in Chicago in June and store them for ~1 month until I was moving to Evanston in July. Makespace seemed like the best option for a short-term move + store + move. It was a small move, but they still managed to break several items. My TV was put in bubble wrap and tagged as fragile, but the screen was cracked and completely unusable when I received it back. They also moved an expensive hallway table, which included a glass table top when they picked it up, but the glass piece was missing when the item was returned to me, probably because they broke the glass during the move. Lastly, they loaded several of my picture frames into my dresser drawers (without wrapping them at all), then proceeded to wrap up the dresser and move it as one piece. Not surprisingly, the picture frames inside the drawer slid around during the move so that the glass was shattered by the time the dresser made its way back to me. This instance, in particular, was completely irresponsible on the movers' behalf - not sure what they were thinking. Makespace has a claims process whereby you can document the broken items and request reimbursement for the broken/lost items. However, each item is reviewed individually and has a $250 maximum reimbursement value. I am currently waiting to hear back from the claims department. IMPORTANT PIECE OF ADVICE - ask the movers to cut off all cardboard/plastic wrapping from all items before they leave. They told me they didn't have time, so I spent hours cutting through all of the wrapping and wasn't able to notice the damaged items until after the moving team was gone. UPDATE - Claim for TV was rejected because "it's a fragile item and MakeSpace recommends that its customers not store fragile items for this reason". Claim for missing glass top is being processed, but requires replacement quotes from multiple sources during the review. FINAL REVIEW - Overall negative experience - MakeSpace is a convenient option, but they are very prone to damaging or losing your items during the process.

    I wish that zero stars was an option. My boyfriend and I put some of our belongings in storage for 3 months in between moves. We called-- twice-- and said we wanted everything to be delivered. Yet, somehow, they forgot the couch. The single largest item that we put in storage. We were also informed by the moving team that the warehouse forgot three items that they were able to catch. Wtf? How does this happen? Additionally, as we are unpacking now, we are finding a ton of broken items. Pint glasses that we wrapped and stored in a guitar case are broken. A brand new dish that was wrapped and stored in a box is broken. I understand that it's a risk to put items in storage, but about half of our things are broken. This company seems to be scattered, careless, and incompetent. Skip them. UPDATE: In addition to the couch STILL missing, we are also missing our bed headboard and box spring. About 80% of the surfaces (such as the picture of this dresser) are scratched. DO NOT USE MAKE SPACE if you like your things.

    I have a bone to pick with this place let's start with money…read more Upon entering into a lease with this facility, I have had nothing but trouble. First of all, the staff was friendly as heck but then it went downhill when all of my personal items went missing from my storage space. I tacked on the extra fee in insurance and look what happens... I learned that my items were missing, I immediately want to leave the space because, I don't trust it any longer. Although I had more days left on my leasing agreement to remove my things, my code to access my belongings by the garage entrance was locked. I was with a brother who had cerebral palsy and wheelchair bound, they locked us out sooner then usual and I had expressed to the associate manager that I was moving out. The manager immediately deactivates my code and the next month I am still being charged a storage fee!
