The team was able to accommodate my shorter notice scheduling, and they were very communicative when we had to move the appointment because of issues with our elevator reservation. Moving can be stressful so it was great that they were very responsive via email to help us plan. Movers came on time, and were professional and careful with all of our stuff. They were very nice guys and very communicative. We have quite a few live plants and everything was moved without any harm. Their rate was reasonable and I liked that we were able to tip on Zelle instead of having to use cash. They also offer rentals for reusable / eco-friendly boxes in case you don't want to produce waste with paper boxes. Their owner Miro followed up a few days later with a phone call asking on our experience and if we had any issues. It was unexpected but positive to get a personal follow up too. First off, I want to commend Miro and his business for the community work and ethics of "giving back." It's the reason why I chose to move with them. I noticed in his pictures that he participated in relief funds for disasters and repurposes/recycles the junk people want gone. He has a business ethics model with which I can identify. Secondly, but just as important, his prices were fair and his communication was efficient while being courteous. He is responsive and reasonable. No troubles with communication and organizing the move at all. Last and perhaps most important, his guys showed up on time (6 mins early) on the day of the move. Erik and Odell worked well with each other. They were both efficient and careful with our stuff. Erik is hearing impaired and I kept forgetting and sometimes saying things while standing behind him. However, that's my problem and not on him. Odell was personable and Erik is a very sweet person. As movers, excellent but also pleasant human beings. I did notice that Odell is a smoker but it isn't any of my business what he does on his own time. Just mentioning in case anyone else cares. There's an overload of dust and allergens with moving anyway so not a deal breaker for me. Oh! Odell was a godsend with having his tools with him! My hubby had gone to return our U-Box things and Odell took the legs/feet off my elliptical very quickly with great proficiency, with Erik's support, and we got the whole move done within our scheduled time without going over. I used HodgePodge to move to my new apartment. The communication was great, quick responses and willing to negotiate which is why I decided to go with this company over others. I liked that I was provided with a contract and knew what to expect at the time of the move. The movers were running behind, but that was fine with me as I still needed time to pack! Although I have a feeling that beyond traffic, the reason why the movers were late is that there was only two of them. I didn't have a crazy amount of stuff, but enough to make my move with a team of two way more challenging for them. Miro and his team were incredible during the entire process! My fiance & I needed movers very last-minute (Wednesday) to move-out of our apartment in Irving Park to Lemont on that coming Sunday. Out of the 8 companies I reached out to, Miro was the only representative who immediately responded to my inquiry and scheduled a time to call to go over the details. Within a few hours after our call, Miro was able to put together a reasonable quote for us with the service agreement and we hired them the next day and put down our deposit. The morning of our move-out day, the team called us as soon they left to let us know their ETA to our apartment and arrived as promised (with a morning rain storm) per our agreement. Even with the weather, the team got the job done at a good pace and was also able to assist us in moving a few items to alley for trash. Fast-forward to the arrival in Lemont, the sun finally came out and the team was able to move everything in just an hour and 15 minutes shy of what we were originally quoted. Later that day, we did discover a few scratches on our wooden furniture that were not there before the move and were baffled as we thought we saw the team wrap all of our furniture and cover with blankets. A day or so later, Miro followed-up with us to ask how the move went. Once we shared the photos and just our minimal concerns, Miro was quick to apologize on behalf of the entire team, explained how they strive to be always careful with a customer's items on the job, and asked if there was anything to do remedy the mishap. We told him despite the little hiccup, everything else went well beyond our expectations so just knocking-off $30 from the remainder of the invoice would be just fine. Miro agreed and gave us great recommendations on how to conceal the small scratches. Friendly and courteous from the beginning, the Guys moved quickly but carefully to get difficult items such as a large sofa and king sized mattress. Nothing was damaged. HodgePodge not only offered me a fair flat rate based on estimate of items listed, but stuck to it and facilitated my removal within a day or so of my request.
