We recently moved from our home and used Aaron's Reliable Movers. They were great! They arrived on time and went to work rugby away. Ball took the time to explain the insurance coverage and their process which I appreciated. Our entire 6 bedroom, 2 bath home was loaded into the truck in less than 2 hours. Once we got to the new place, it was 99 degrees and these poor guys had 3 flights of stairs to deal with. They handled it so professionally, I was impressed. If I could give this company 0 stars, I would. We booked moving help after reading the positive reviews on Google. The company did not mention extra fees for moving a piano or additional workers when we made the booking. Everything was highly unorganized. The movers took close to half an hour to bring my partner's piano upstairs and did not remove the casters from the bottom, causing them to break. Several other items were dropped and damaged or broken. To top it off, one of the employees started to become violent and fight with his coworkers while trying to move our belongings to our new house. When I called in to see if the company would pay for items they damaged, the woman who answered became angry and accused me of lying to get a refund. We thought using a moving company instead of renting a truck and hiring day laborers would make the move less stressful, but we were wrong. read more

Some disturbing problems with recent move: 1. The movers arrived smelling strongly of marijuana. 2. An "extra" worker was sent, and he was obviously ill (contagious??), and only worked part of the time. (He had to lie down in the back of the truck / several long bathroom breaks.) After speaking to the company about this, I was told that I wouldn't be billed for his time. 3. After the movers left, I discovered a large cigarette burn on the top surface of my recently refinished antique wooden sewing cabinet. (During a previous move by this company, one year ago, the corner of an antique mirror was cracked off.) I have not contacted the moving company owners about the cigarette burn damage. Started out well. Then quickly went downhill. Broken dresser (some drawers do not close completely), wooden chest dropped and broken lock, framed picture with glass shattered and they just wrapped it and put it in the van WITH THE BROKEN GLASS. Loosened an antique table making it very wobbly. Scratched several pieces of artwork and furniture. I called Maria and thought something would be done, but nothing. When I need to move again, I will look elsewhere. read more

Some things were good, some things a little less so, which I think is par for the course with professional movers. A huge plus is that Aaron's Reliable actually answered their phone on a Sunday afternoon after those horrible All My Sons people left me stranded. The lady who answered the phone was very nice and very professional and gave me Ron's number so that I could contact him directly. Ron called me back after a while and said they could help me. Another big plus. I definitely should have discussed cost and those details, but I was just relieved to have someone say they could move me at that point. A few hours later, three guys showed up - Brian, Edwin, and Walter - and immediately got to work. They were all professional and nice, and they took excellent care of my stuff, worked quickly, and, you know, weren't sketchy. My only complaint is that my move took not quite an hour and a half but cost $360 plus tip, of course. They have a two-hour minimum that I didn't know about and wish I had, because I definitely had another half hour of work that they could have helped me with - and that I paid for, you know? My boyfriend was kind of in shock at the cost. BUT they did good, fast work, so I'd rather pay through the teeth than have another shoddy moving experience such as ALL MY SONS, grr! read more

I can't rate their actual moving services, because of what happened, but I question their 'reliability'. I received a call this past Wednesday from Aaron's from a very friendly, nice, personable gentleman who asked me some questions about my move, and he then provided me a quote. The quote was significantly higher than the others I'd received, even though I had given detailed inventory lists to other moving companies and overestimated the number of boxes I had, just to be on the safe side. This gentleman offered to come to my house to do a free in-home estimate, which impressed me. He was even willing to do it after I got home from work, which impressed me even more. However, he failed to show up for the in-home estimate. About 45 minutes after he was supposed to show up, I called him and he said he had COMPLETELY forgotten about me and had been busy with another move. He was very apologetic, and offered a discount if I booked with them, and he offered to call me to set up a new in-home estimate. I agreed, because I still wanted one more quote, but I have yet to receive a call, so I booked another mover. I had told Aaron's I needed to make a decision on my movers this weekend. Unfortunately, despite the name "Aaron's Reliable Movers", they are not very reliable, sad to say....or maybe they're just too busy and don't need new customers, I don't know... The moral of the story? Over-promising and under-delivering is not good. This is a big service faux pas. If no one shows up for the in-home estimate, I question whether or not anyone will show up for my move, and that would be far more disastrous than putting off dinner a few hours. We used Aaron's Reliable for our office move today. They are a bit more expensive, but they were quick, friendly and wrapped the large items we needed to move without damage very well. Believe it or not, we had 3 life size statues of Alvin and the Chipmunks and they moved them very gingerly and packed them well. When they arrived, they came up, introduced themselves and were very friendly. They immediately started and got the office cleared out pretty fast (considering our very slow freight elevators). The only reason they didn't get 5 stars is because they didn't tell us when they left for our storage facility (we had to meet them there to open the facility, but since we didn't know they'd left we probably got charged more because I don't know how long they were waiting there. I had to go to our dock to see the truck was gone.) Other than that, they were very professional. read more

Not reliable at all. Quote was reasonable - the service charge came out three times as much for the move and it took more than twice the number of hours. One mover was drinking on the job - very unprofessional. I would never use them again, ever! Oh, and they were very late in starting. The only reason I selected them to begin with was they had a Skokie address - I'm wondering just what kind of company this really is? And they poked holes in the bottom sides of many of my boxes. Were there zero stars to give, that would have been my rating. And on the phone, checks were no problem. In person, there was a comment but the guy did take the check. I just hired Ron and his company to help me move a 360 gallon fishtank and stand. They did a great job with a very delicate item. This thing had to be very carefully moved out of a guy's small house with super narrow doorways. The tank made it safely to my space without a scratch. My move went very smoothly and I have no complaints. I have used two other Chicago movers in the past year and would recommend Aaron's without hesitation. I was a "military spouse" so I have definitely had my fair share of experience with moving companies, and this one was top-notch. I called on a Wednesday and they were able to squeeze me in for a move that Friday. I felt like they were very up front about costs. When I scheduled my move the lady I spoke with reviewed my estimate with me twice to ensure that I understood; then at the start of my move Ron reviewed it with me again, which I thought was very professional and honest. Ron was also very good about updating me the morning of my move to let me know that they were running on time, etc. I appreciated the fact that he narrowed down the two-hour window because then I was able to get some errands done, rather than sitting around wasting time. I found that to be really thoughtful and it eased some of the stress I was feeling on the day of my move. They were fair, fast and honest. read more

Bottom line up front: These guys saved me from one of the worst situations I've ever found myself in. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEIR SERVICES. My wife and I are brand new to Chicago, and I was relocated here by my employer. We ended up having to lease an apartment without ever actually seeing it (just through pictures). The nearly four flights of "fire-escape" style stairs that we had to use to move into this apartment were MUCH more of a challenge than I anticipated. I tried to prepare for our move by finding a guy who was very reasonably priced to me in Chicago at our new apartment and help me carry our boxes and extremely heavy furniture up to the apartment. The original guy I hired was a nice enough guy and worked as hard as he could and took almost no breaks. Still, between the two of us, we were worn out FAST. After the two of us tried our best for several hours and still managed to damage a brand new piece of leather furniture, I knew I had bitten off more than I could chew. I was all but certain there was no way I'd find someone on such short notice who could help me recover from this nightmare. I searched on my BlackBerry for "last minute moving help" and Aaron's got the first call. I'm SO VERY GLAD I called them first. In about 80 minutes Ron had a crew at my apartment and they brought their own equipment. They immediately jumped right in and moved the rest of our stuff and made it look like it was as easy as tying your shoes. They were very professional and smooth and moved everything without dinging or denting any of our stuff. I couldn't believe how much work they got done in 90 minutes. And my wife had to basically force them to take one break long enough for her to give them glasses of ice water. Overall, these guys were an amazing help. I'm 100% certain I wouldn't have been able to move everything that day without them, and I'm equally certain I would've damaged more of our furniture if I'd have tried. I'm moving a second truck load of our stuff to our apartment in a few days, and they're DEFINITELY getting repeat business from me. I will close by saying that, if you have taken the time to read my entire review, you must be serious about looking for reliable help and you must also care about your belongings. You will pay these guys a little more than you might pay other people, but remember....you get what you pay for. I personally feel that they were reasonably priced for the very professional and experienced service they provided, but I'm also getting reimbursed for much of my moving costs. If you're someone who is on a budget, definitely get a quote ahead of time so there will be no surprises. P.S. The amount of money I'll end up spending to repair the piece of leather furniture I managed to damage on my own will be nearly equal to the extra amount I could've paid Aaron's to do the whole job. I was referred to Aaron's Reliable by Burrows (who I've used in the past, and liked well, but they were all booked up), and now I might just stick with Aaron's! The guys were fast, careful, cheerful and well spoken. I really appreciate the fast, since they charge by the hour. The only mishap was the woman I booked the move with (who was super nice) told me "Ok, you're all set from 1-3pm", which to my mind means they're coming at 1 and will be done around 3. PLEASE NOTE: The time they give you is a WINDOW of when they will show up. We wish we would have known/understood this and would have booked our elevators accordingly - we had some tight timing which made it a bit nerve-wracking. I called the office there in a panic and the Guy In Charge was very nice, very apologetic and very understanding. Also keep in mind they do charge for rolls of tape (they use the non-sticky side to hold drawers in). That being said, I would absolutely use them again, since now I know how the timing works - in which case next time I might give 5 stars! read more

What a great experience I had with Aaron's Reliable. This is the second time I've used them, and the experience has been flawless both times. This is my go to company for my next pick up or delivery. I was in a bind with my antique piece that was being handled by someone in NY that was giving me the run around. I am in the process of moving again and looking for movers which made me think of the last time I moved and the traumatic experience of it all. It was my first time using movers and was a little nervous as I was moving on the 31st and someone new was moving it right after me. Not a fan of chaos so had my friends recommend some movers. The first place wasn't available so I asked them to recommend someone, the next person couldn't do it so I asked them. This happened two more times when I finally got the name of Aaron's Reliable Movers. Called got a quote, and readied for my move. Sidenote: I was literally moving to an apartment that I could see from my old apartment. On the morning of the move I called to check on the status of the mover. The receptionist seemed annoyed that I was calling and told me if I had scheduled the movers they will be there on time. Turns out she was a liar, my move was scheduled for 10 by 12 I had called repeatedly to check on the movers. Finally I got a manager or the owner on the phone. Who told me if I didn't stop whining and complaining he would cancel my move because he wouldn't send his men into a hostile situation. I literally went into shock, who says that. I then had to grovel and beg for him to actually show up. They showed up at 12:30 by then I had no words. I just sat and watched as they moved. The men were actually good, but the bad taste I had in my mouth will never be removed... They ended up giving me free tape, but I would call this moving company anything reliable and would not recommend them for anyone. read more

Reading the other reviews here I was reminded of how US consumers are internationally notorious for their misguided expectations. Aaron's is not the cheapest mover one could use. The quote was lower than the outcome with my job, but as a veteran of MANY moves I expected this: like most such events, my move couldn't be precisely estimated due to many potential points of failure and complications. But the issues that count way more than that for me were the reason I chose Aarons over a competing mover with a much lower quote. The crew of four personable and experienced professionals showed up ahead of schedule. The job was assessed carefully and the instructions for the move were confirmed. Artwork and valuables were packed thoroughly and meticulously. Nothing phased the crew: They adapted to extra needs and evolving conditions without problem or doubts: they had seen it all before and knew exactly what to do. Cheerful professionalism was in evidence throughout and their efforts were carried out with a confidence-inspiring level of cooperation and coordination between the members of the crew. Communication was easy throughout the day. The work was handled carefully, professionally and efficiently. Nothing Broke! In the end it wasn't dirt cheap but it really wasn't expensive either in consideration of the amount of time and resources had to be brought to bear on the problem at hand. This to say nothing of how much more expensive and annoying damaged itens would have been. This was the smoothest, most professional, and best value move I have ever been through. So I am left wondering what more anyone could reasonably ask for? Why would anyone think that it should be somehow better than this? These guys are great! I just hired them to move a couch from downtown to my apartment. For $125, they picked up the couch, moved my old one out of my apartment, and set up the new couch. It all happened in 1 hour, too. The price also included the truck they had (plus they gave me a ride on the way to my place), so in all I'd say it's a pretty good deal. The couch I got is white, and they were really great about wrapping it carefully so it wouldn't get dirty. Ron, the owner, was one of the guys who came to move the couch. They were so courteous and polite! They're also really efficient. I would definitely recommend calling this company if you need to move anywhere. They'll take care of your stuff. read more

We hired Aaron's for our move from Chicago to Grand Rapids, MI. The move consisted of stuff still in our single-family home, a motorcycle and two storage lockers a few miles away. Ron was very prompt for doing the in-home estimate and was right in the ballpark with the cost estimate, so we booked it. We did most of the packing ourselves. We had questions about packing dishes and glasses so they wouldn't break and Ron stopped by and personally showed us the best way to pack EVERYTHING (TVs, Artwork, Mirrors, China, etc.). Then, the day before we moved, we realized we would not be able to complete the packing on our own. We contacted Ron, and he was able to send Manny over that same day to help us finish packing. There was a very reasonable charge for this extra packing service. The day of the move, the guys all showed up on time. They were professional, courteous and handled our stuff with a "white-glove" service approach. Our closing in MI was delayed for a few hours, therefore the guys couldn't get started moving us into our new home until late in the day. It was near midnight when they finally finished. Everything was placed in the appropriate room within the house. Nothing broken, all pieces accounted for. We were glad to support a small business and were very pleased with the professional service. When I recently setup my first office I required a moving service that would take the same care Of my equipment as I would've. All of my computers and servers were wrapped in foam and padding as was requested and my furniture was wrapped as well. I would have loved to give them 5 stars because they did 5 star quality moving. But the one thing that threw me off were the fees for labor and time travel. When you call them and they quote you, they quote the truck rental, not the labor and time travel. So always ask for the extra costs. Otherwise, the service was professional all the way. Interviewed two moving companies and chose Aaron's Reliable because of the owner Ron. He was willing to work with me because I was unsure how much I could pack with two little ones running around. He told me that he would only charge me for the work and supplies he used - I appreciated that and gave me some incentive to try to pack as much as I could on my own. With that said I couldn't do much. Ron, Walter, Brian and Ed all came on Saturday morning and started to pack me up. My husband stayed with them guiding where items would go while I was at the other house getting ready for ALL the stuff. They were the experts - everything was packed fantastic and with great care. We had some expensive art pieces that were packed perfectly. Upon arrival ALL the men were very nice (even though they just moved furniture and boxes down our four story townhome). My husband also had them stop by our storage unit to pick up all our holiday boxes as well. Day One - Fantastic! Day Two - the big stuff. All four men returned for the big items to be moved. Again, these guys were great, moving everything with ease (it looked that way), they were kind and always asked where things went and if I needed any additional help unpacking or hanging the art work. This was the first time I'd used movers, but I had a fairly good idea of what to expect from Aaron's because my I had been around my sister when Aaron's moved her on two occasions. Maria and Ron set up the move with ease, and Manny--who I'd already seen on my sister's two moves--was a familiar face. He and the crew were friendly, expedient, and careful and all was done in a very reasonable time that came in below what I was expecting. To be fair, I was well-packed and, thanks to OCD, very organized to begin with, so it was easy on everybody. I highly recommend Aaron's Reliable Movers. The worst moving experience EVER. Horrible customer service. The worst company I've ever hired off Craig's list. EVER. I'm a single female and they didn't complete the service. Arrive late. I had been talking with someone at the company for a week. The "in charge" dude with attitude called me that morning to ask me what I was moving. (Really, you don't know?) He was rude to his helpers, telling them not to talk to me - that was his job. (Yes, he said that in front of me). He got hostile when I asked him some questions and told me I should call the office. He stormed out my house, leaving the back door and back gate open, got into his truck and left. Yes, without even starting the job. The office manager told me that I had no idea how hard these guys work. "I've seen them put furniture on their back to move it." Still not sure how that is different from any movers - except that maybe they should consider getting better equipment in 2014 so they don't have to use their backs. No, they didn't send anyone else. The great news? I hired Aaron Brothers Movers - and it was like night and day. My neighbor said she was calling them "Because they worked the entire time they were moving." They called the week before the move to ask if I could change date. They took another move and did not want my business. If you book them make sure you have a back up plan. Well, another year and another move. This time I used Aarons Reliable moving company which was referred by a friend who used them last year. I procrastinated on booking a company so my move was a bit last minute, but they accommodated. Ive never given much thought as to how busy movers are at the beginning of the month, but it makes sense. They took good care to wrap my furniture and boxed most of my belongings, which I just didn't have time to do with my work schedule. Ron and his crew moved me out and moved me in in record time. They took the stress off my shoulders. I left for work from my old address and returned to my new address at the end of the day. Not bad. They even put all the furniture and boxes in their proper rooms. I opted to not be an integral part of the move this time. And it worked. I can't recommend Aarons Reliable enough. read more
