Sweet home movers is the worst, dirtiest company I've ever worked with in my life…read more Was quoted $615 for my one-bedroom move and was charged $1,065. Like, true story. Told the owner I would have around 30 boxes and his words were "if you want a company that will give you a flat rate and stick with it, that's us." Not only was I charged almost double the quote, but they broke a $250 industrial lamp, my safe was tempered with and permanently locked me out, scratches on dressers, computer monitor, a small lamp didn't work again, handle gone from vacuum (can't make this up), my office chair somehow cracked and not useable AND they must have put the bed frame back together in 30 seconds bc half the bolts and screws weren't even in halfway. In addition, when I spoke to owner regarding my 6 foot floor mirror, a piece I really loved and valued, and was clearly forgotten by the movers,, the owner said any additional times not moved day of isn't in contract. I definitely stated that mirror needed to be moved.. as did everything in my apartment. I am beyond the point of frustrated and am just sad this man used me, took my money, had no remorse and then gets away with it. Unless you want to pay double the quote, lose $1,500 in broken, damaged or left property, to then be told the next day they aren't going to refund me for floor lamp and damaged property , nor move the item their movers forgot, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I've moved myself and also hired all sorts of movers and labor 7 times in the last 10 years. I don't recommend sweet home movers. They showed up with the smallest truck I've seen. We had a Pods load of furniture and boxes in a garage. They backed into the driveway. They didn't need to carry things up and down stairs or take things apart. They moved SO SLOW. They couldn't fit everything in their truck. It took 2.5 hours just to load that into their truck. I think they were taking extra long to puzzle as much into their small truck as possible. Their English wasn't great so they couldn't read the labels on the boxes. They took an extra 3 hours more than expected and you bet they charged us for it. In the end my husband and I and our parents did about a third of the loading and unloading. And spent $300 more than we thought we would. The guys were nice and were able to handle a tricky move of a large wine fridge into the basement. That's basically all the nice things I can say about them.

They disassembled a variety of furniture such as a standing desk, couch, beds, and more. The entire team was incredibly efficient, polite and respectful of my property. When we were in the storage unit, they worked so effectively and cleared the unit in only 30 minutes! Once in the space, they were fantastic - they moved boxes into the correct room, double checked with questions, assembled furniture and at the end of the day, they finished in less time that I was quoted. Just to note - they do ask for a $50 deposit, and then, as part of my price, they request the first $500 of the full price to be in cash. Super professional and organized. I felt at ease how carefully they handled our furniture. They came with wrapping, tape, and moving blankets. We had pretty much everything in boxes apart from furniture. They were super fast, polite, and showed us where everything was placed. They answered every question and were so easy to work with. I would definitely recommend to anyone moving and at any size. 2 tips: 1. Leave your clothes on the hanger and put garbage bags over your clothes and tie shut. They were able to transfer these from closet to closet effortlessly. 2. Choose heavy duty moving boxes: When you get boxes for your move, get the heavy duty thicker moving boxes like they sell at Home Depot. I went the cheap route and used the cheapest moving boxes I could find on amazon. They were a bit thinner. Everything was moved fine and without any damage, however the thicker boxes would ensure nothing gets smashed etc. The thick ones can be closed and sat on without the box breaking.

The movers took close to half an hour to bring my partner's piano upstairs and did not remove the casters from the bottom, causing them to break. Several other items were dropped and damaged or broken. To top it off, one of the employees started to become violent and fight with his coworkers while trying to move our belongings to our new house. When I called in to see if the company would pay for items they damaged, the woman who answered became angry and accused me of lying to get a refund. We thought using a moving company instead of renting a truck and hiring day laborers would make the move less stressful, but we were wrong.
