After my sister suggested using USA Moving, I figured I would try them out. Jose and his crew (Ricardo, Beto and Narum) were very friendly and SO efficient. They loaded the truck in 40 minutes and were done unloading at the new place within the next hour. All the furniture was wrapped well and they also brought some wardrobe boxes to use for my clothes. The whole process beforehand was super easy, too. The office was friendly and diligent and they let me know about all the extra costs that could come up during the move. I ended up buying my own tape and had some large plastic wrap, so there were no extra costs at the end. I would highly suggest you use these guys!! read more

I've used USA for 3 home moves , and most recently just a few weeks ago. I could not have been happier each of the three times. Jose and his crew are great. We did a pretty good job of packaging and boxing ahead, but there were things we had not packaged or packaged right. Jose had everything needed to get our stuff to the destination in good shape. They would incredibly hard and could not be any nicer. We were moving homes and putting a lot of stuff in storage at the same time. Jose kept everything in order, and at the end of the day everything was in the right place in our new place and in storage. I would highly highly recommend USA and will be using them for our next move again for sure. The crew showed up right on time and even helped me park my moving truck, as the building had a very tricky loading zone. They worked quickly and efficiently, getting my move completed an hour quicker than was quoted. This is the second time I used USA moving and was pleasantly surprised! I'm always nervous with moving companies since I've heard some horror stories before. But, not only did they have the best offer and communicated with me via email and phone multiple times before the move, their team was quick (thus saving me money) yet careful with my stuff. I spoke with Ilanit in their office to schedule the move. She was so nice, friendly and reassuring that my furniture would be handled with care. After my horrendous experience with Joeys Movers last year which left me not looking forward to hiring a moving company ever again, USA movers have completely restored my faith that there are excellent movers in this area whom actually care about their customers and are honest. The movers were fast, courteous and professional. The estimate was reasonable. They sent three men who obviously had lots of experience and carefully handled our furniture. The men who moved us were very nice, but the overall experience was pretty bad. First of all, when I asked for a quote they just said "140$ per hour, then prorated by 15 minutes" which doesn't really tell me what I should expect to pay them. Then, the plastic wrapped the living crap out of Everything I owned. Everything. This racked up extra costs. Lastly, they overcharged me by 1/2 hour. Due to a mistake in adding. It took almost 2 weeks for them to respond to me after messaging on Yelp, finally they gave my $ back. The men also took an hour for lunch, which im was 100% ok with me - they were working extremely hard - but they CHARGED ME for that hour. Not using them again. read more

I used USA again (had to they had my stuff in storage) and I will not use them again or recommend them. They nickel and dime you for everything. They charge you to use their garment boxes even though you give them back at end of move. I asked them to put tarps on my newly sanded floors and their response was "we charge you to put down plastic" really!!! They will not take a personal check even from a previous customer who paid for 1 year of storage with them. I had to have moving truck follow me to my bank for a cashiers check! Stay away from them, there are way too many movers out there to be treated like this. I was not complaining about tape or paper for packing since I did not use them for that. read more

I've used USA Moving & Storage for two moves and loved them - they were fast and nothing was broken. I recommended them to anyone who was moving. NEVER AGAIN. My husband and I moved last week. We used USA Moving & Storage when we moved in - it took them about 2 - 2.5 hours to move us. We have a couple more pieces of furniture and we are a little further away (by like a mile or two) and it took them 7.75 hours to move us out and into our new place. SEVEN AND THREE QUARTERS HOURS. We are LIVID. There is NO way this move should have taken them this long. We had everything packed in boxes. Yet, somehow they used and charged us for 20 rolls of tape. TWENTY ROLLS OF TAPE. There was tape on everything. Instead of leaving the sofa pillows on the sofa, like has been done every other time I've moved, they put them in a box, at our expense of course. We left dvds in our entertainment center and some paper work and miscellaneous stuff in a credenza - which they for some reason needed to unpack and put in boxes, at our expense. They took apart every single piece of furniture. Two twin bed frames from IKEA that I can carry myself were taken apart and secured with tape that we had to pay for. It took them FOREVER to get our furniture apart. My husband left the same time as the movers did to go to the new place. He was driving slowly because he had fragile stuff in the car. He still arrived at the new place 20 - 30 minutes before the movers did. It should have taken them 15 minutes to get to the new place - it took them 45! Where the heck were they? Why was I charged for that time? Then it came time for them to put the furniture back together. It was like watching paint dry. We have a kitchen breakfast bar with a butcher block table - instead of putting the top (which of course was removed) upside down on the floor to attach the bottom part so it would be easy to line up the screw holes, they were trying to attach the top with it resting on the bottom part - it took the guy like 45 minutes to attach the top when it should have taken him 5. In fact, it took him longer than it took for us to build the entire thing. Oh, and the total cost of supplies? $199. ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE DOLLARS. Twenty rolls of tape - WTF? There must be like 5 feet of tape on every roll. STAY AWAY. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE. THEY TAKE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE TO DRIVE UP THE PRICE. read more

They are on the BBB and have a near perfect rating. They may be more expensive but worth it. They are licensed and bonded. We moved from a huge apartment to a house. They have you fill out a form talking about how many rooms you have and the distance. There is a moving hourly minimum. Always take the 1st appointment of the day. They were on time, ready with 4 guys, pads, rolling carts and garment boxes. They did not damage one thing. They take it to the room you want so have your boxes marked. They look over your items and pack the truck efficiently. They are fast, strong and polite. They underestimated our stuff and send another truck no charge to finish the move on time. There is an hourly charge, trip charge. The office staff are polite and efficient. They did a great job. If we move again I will a callin' them. read more

From the beginning - even getting a quote, this company impressed me. Competitive rates. They took care of the permit to block off the street for the truck (for a fee, but worth it!) The crew arrived about 10 minutes before the estimated time (don't worry, they called ahead of time). And they immediately got to work. I had been so stressed about our move, but this crew put my mind to rest. Hard workers. HARD workers. They hustled but still took care to make sure nothing was damaged. This was one of the best and easiest moving experiences to date- and believe me we've moved quite a bit the past two years! First of all, we had two locations we needed picked up from on two different days. From our surfboards, snowboards, to our two offices and two bedrooms, these guys absolutely crushed. I was really hoping to bust into a USA chant for these guys, but after being almost 2 hours late without even a phone call I'm a little bitter. Timing is everything on an end of the month move when you live in a high rise, and their tardiness completely through off my buildings elevator schedule. I definitely got a few dirty looks and an angry phone call from the property manager for the 45 minutes of overlap time. I'll admit they were really quick when they finally got there, but they were so crunched for time that they left a few things behind that I ended up having to bring over myself. Not exactly ideal. Comparatively they were probably one of the cheaper options, but the end of the month anxiety I had to endure waiting for them to show wasn't really worth saving a few extra bucks. 2 hours late in the city of Chicago is just inexcusable. read more

Moving is one of my least favorite things to do. I don't pack fast enough, and by the time moving day comes around, I am very sleep deprived and really really crabby. Knowing that a reliable and professional moving company is going to take care of the physical move is one of life's finest luxuries. Seriously. When I hear about people moving themselves, I don't even know how to process it. We used USA Moving & Storage 4 years ago, to move from a 1-bedroom apartment to a 2-bedroom condo, both in Evanston. This time around, we were moving a 2-bedroom condo in Evanston full of (TOO MUCH) stuff, to a single family home in Lincoln Square. Scheduling was easy. Go online and fill out their estimate sheet and submit. I literally received a call within 30 minutes of submitting my inquiry online, and was given the cost breakdown. Later that day, I received all that information in my inbox too. The breakdown: 4 movers @ $124/hour (2 hour minimum) $62 one-time truck fee $2.50/roll of packing tape (the movers use tape to secure padding to your furniture) $3-6/box (to protect glass, mirror, marble, etc) $10/item shrink wrapped (to keep mattresses, light colored sofas, etc. clean) Plus, you get 10 free moving boxes that you have to pick up at their office with your move, and on the day, the movers brings 3 wardrobe boxes for clothes on hangers that you can use for free. I had requested additional insured parties be added to the Certificate of Insurance (I don't miss that condo board at all), and a copy of it was in my inbox within the hour for me to forward on to the condo management company. They email you a few days ahead of time and ask you to confirm the move. Day of, Miguel and his team showed up. I walked him through the condo and the storage unit - some items needed to be broken down and thrown away. He was very professional. Then, the team shows up inside the condo with so many dollys. They just start stacking boxes and wrapping up furniture. I probably stood there for 10 minutes in sheer awe at their speed, and in those 10 minutes, the entire living room that had taken me WEEKS to pack, was empty. At the house, they were equally as fast and efficient. If unsure, they asked where things were supposed to go. They unwrapped all the furniture, helped us put a very heavy chair in the alley, and were on their way. Total time: 3.5 hours (yes, insanely fast and efficient) Total cost: $567 before tip* Totally worth it. You've been thinking about getting movers. But no, you can just move it yourself, I mean, you don't have that much stuff...right? Two car-loads max. Fast forward -- 50 trips, 4 friends, and many a furrowed brow later and you wish you'd hired someone -- anyone -- to carry your stupid Swedish disposable furniture up three flights of stairs. After moving every year for the past 7 years I consider myself older and wiser. I finally talked myself into hiring movers. But which ones? It's like picking an Indian restaurant in Devon. Close your eyes and point, right? I called all the top listed movers on Yelp and USA had the lowest base price plus a glowing review from a friend so I booked it. I was so enamored with my decision that I only half-heard some of the details. $2 for each roll of tape? $10 for tarp to cover my mattress? $10 to put my tv in a box? And then I started to get nervous. The day came and the movers were there right on time. I feel like I had just finished saying, "The place is just up these stairs" when the four guys had already loaded my apartment in the truck, tapping their watches ready for me to lead them to my new place. I turned the key to my new apartment and BAM! all my stuff had been safely deposited in their new home. I was quoted at 2-3 hours but they had everything done in 1.5 hours. I have to say 2 hours and 45. from a fourth floor walk up to a third floor. I didnt lift a finger.......they were so cool and it was the same crew that my friend used and he was with me during the move. I am a single gal and I was worried that I would get ripped off, not this company. I only had two things die on me, an old TV 15 year old ,and one wine decanter. woops......no worries, gave me an excuse to buy a new flat screen. Thanks USA! ha ha. I had used USA moving a number of years ago and was so impressed with their efficiency and professionalism that I hired them without getting other bids. This was a costly mistake My nephew was moving into our old place so I was leaving a lot of furniture and household items behind for him. We essentially moved two bedrooms, three traditional closets, a living room, an upright piano, and half the kitchen items. Everything had been packed ahead of time. My experience was similar to that of Yelp reviewer Kelly P (5/30/17) whose review I would have dismissed because I had such a great experience with them before. Most of the time was spent taping - taping everything including sofa cushions and pillows. Even pillows that had already been put into heavy duty garbage bags earlier had to be taped. The sound of the tape continued hour after hour. When I called the office to ask if so much taping was necessary and if the movers could work faster, the person asked if the guys were moving or just sitting around. Yes, they were moving but not necessarily working fast or hard (I teach high school and often see kids making working motions but not doing much). Keep in mind they charge you per hour and supplies. When all was said and done, despite us asking that a number of items be left taped up and unassembled in our new home, we paid almost $1800. That included the cost of supplies including 48 rolls of tape -YES, you read that right - 48. If you have an unlimited budget and want everything you move to be covered, padded, saran wrapped, and taped as if it were great-grandmother's fine china, then do call upon USA Moving. However, if you are like us and think that efficiency and common sense should play a part in your moving, call some other well-rated reputable companies that will give you a quote. read more

These guys are AWESOME. Before this move, my boyfriend and I had moved twice before, and both of those moves were disasters, with broken things (our giant TV the first time, and a dresser the second) and high costs and just...ugh. This time, we went on the recommendation of a blogger, and the reviews on Yelp, and we seriously couldn't have been happier. The move was fast. Nothing got broken. Every piece of furniture was wrapped well. The price was nice and low. (And yes, paying with cash is a PITA, but we just took out a lot of money from the ATM, and re-deposited it after we paid.) These guys are good, that's all I can say. I think they made our move into far less of a hassle than it could have been. read more

Not the best experience, and super expensive. I hired them upon recommendation from a friend, plus the great Yelp reviews. My movers showed up a little late - they were supposed to get there at 7:30-8:00 and arrived after 8:30. They were pretty quick and nice, overall, but it was incredibly expensive. The movers used a few blankets (to cover wooden chairs) and boxes (to box up my TV and a large mirror, for example). I expected there to be $50-100 or less in charges for that stuff, and that portion was something like $250, unless I read something wrong (maybe that was the storage fee?). At the end of the morning, the total came to over $1100! They charged me for 5 hours of moving (at a reasonable $124/hour) even though it only took them 2 hours to get out of my apartment... because driving back to the storage place and unloading into a storage unit would somehow take 3 more hours? I'm not sure how it could possibly longer than loading, which includes: getting everything out of the 1-bedroom apartment, wrapping things, loading everything into an elevator, & onto a truck. Getting the stuff into a storage unit should have been pretty quick, even with the drive to Skokie (at 10:30 a.m. on a Wednesday). I was expecting something more like $500, but it's not like you can argue when they have your stuff in a moving truck downstairs. I only had $500 cash (which I thought would cover it + tip) so I had to pay the rest by check, which they gave me kind of a hard time about. Fortunately they did allow it, which I appreciated. Because of that, I didn't have any cash to tip (or like, any cash left in my checking account), which I feel very guilty about. The guys worked hard - it's not their fault the company charges the equivalent of $400/hour. Jose was the lead and did a good job communicating with me and his team. I should have gotten a quote so I could have been prepared (or chosen a cheaper company), but I really couldn't get the information from the person I booked with, Iliana (I think). I asked her 3-4x during our conversations how much cash I should have, since they only accept cash or money orders - she just kept saying it was $124/hour. I would have never booked them if I had known it would be over $1000, no matter how good they are. I was expecting $124 x 3-4 hours max, plus tip. Lesson learned. read more

I've had some pretty scary moving experiences but I have to say that USA Moving & Storage have completely restored my faith in humanity! It took two hours to move my stuff from a one bedroom (with dedicated elevator) in Buena Park to a one bedroom (3rd Floor walk up) in Ravenswood. Four guys arrived on time and got right to work. My old apartment was completely empty after 15 minutes. As other yelpers have noted, they use tape like it's going out of style. Twenty rolls of tape (it may have been more but I lost count after that!) later and we were off to the new place. I've never seen guys climb stairs so fast. Boxes were stacked neatly in each room. My furniture was unwrapped quickly and without a scratch. I should also note that they were extremely careful not to scratch the hardwood floor. Since I paid well under what I was quoted, I tipped the movers the balance and then some. It was well earned. I will definitely use USA again in the future. read more

It took three hours to move a one bedroom apartment on the third floor (slow elevator) to a condo on the 14th floor (fast elevator, dedicated to the movers). They worked really fast and everything showed up in one piece. They spend some time wrapping up your furniture to make sure it doesn't get damaged. They were friendly and the crew was really quiet also, which I think the neighbors in both buildings appreciate. They give you some boxes to help you move, which might save you a little cash. Also, they'll bring a few wardrobe boxes on the day you move for you to hang clothes in. You'll have to have a random amount of cash on you since they don't accept checks or credit cards. That's the only bad part about this otherwise excellent moving service. read more

I moved the day of the blizzard last year - just me and a budski (God bless him, for he couldn't have predicted the weather when he agreed a few weeks earlier to help). When you move yourself in a blizzard you have earned the right to never move yourself again. Ever. So when I received an unexpected "Vacate in 60 days" notice, the dread set in - time for some dedicated research on moving companies the city over. After reading reviews on Yelp and preparing a pricing comparison Excel spreadsheet (what?), I decided on USA Moving and Storage. While initially their hourly cost seemed higher than most competitors (double to be exact), it made sense because they were going to use four movers instead of two. I was going to be charged for any extra packing materials they used, but I knew most of my items would be packaged appropriately, my being the beacon of preparation that I am. For those who are still throwing things in boxes as the movers arrive, well perhaps this would deter you. I was quoted $400 and some dollars for the move - more than I typically spend though I have acquired much more furniture than when I was living in studios, which was the last time I paid for movers. 10:30 - 2PM was my estimated arrival time. Four gentleman showed up a little before 11am. I picked up some sodas and water for them, and then kept out of their way - only bringing down the occasional bag of groceries from my fridge. Two hours and 15 minutes later I was moved into my new place. When they said they were finished I almost couldn't believe it. A two bedroom move - with ample furniture and more boxes than I care to disclose a number for - in less than two and half hours. All that topped off with a cute "typical man" story - after hauling three boxes labelled "Maxi dresses" one of the movers asked me "who is Maxi?!" Men. Having unpacked everything, I can confirm that nothing was broken and nothing was missing. I will definitely use USA Moving and Storage again. Going with four movers is the way to go. Thanks Guys!! Wow - looks like they've been busy!! I'll add my kudos as well :) We've used USA Moving on our last two moves (our most recent being last month) and they're awesome! They're incredibly fast, super friendly and will amaze you with their strength (seriously). They have pretty creative stacking abilities too :) You definitely don't feel like they're taking their time with your money - and if the building situation is less than ideal (say, oh, the freight elevator is locked down), they'll work around it with no qualms. They do like the packing tape, though - they'll go through quite a few rolls - zipping around and around the furniture. It may seem in excess, but your furniture is definitely protected and it'll make you giggle to watch. The only slightly inconvenient aspect is that they no longer take credit cards - only cash, money order or certified check - which leaves a little guesswork in estimating a total. But that's minor - the whole experience is such a breeze that it's worth it. Now if I could just pack as quickly as they move ;) read more

After a terrible experience with Elite Moving a few years back, I was very hesitant to trust anybody with my move from Chicago to Arizona. But the reviews didn't lie. This company was very professional, returned phone calls timely, showed up on time for the pick-up and on delivery day. I had all of my furniture within 10 days and everything was in great condition. My only gripe about the company was that I had to give a 2 day window for them to pick up my furniture in Chicago. I stressed pick up on Tuesday but listed Monday as my second option. The gentleman who I worked with said he would stress a Tuesday pickup. The movers came Monday at 8am...2 nights on an air mattress. But for the great, low price, timeliness and quality of care, I'd recommend this company to everybody! read more

I have used these guys twice now, and always they exceed expectations. I was talking to the supervisor last time, and he said he's been with the company for 20 years! That was sort of amazing to me. I don't have much to add to the list of reviews here, other than a warning that if you're the first appointment they will likely show up 20-30 mins early (7:30am!) which is bad for procrastinators like me haha. I was truly amazed both jobs at how fast they got my stuff packed, moved and unpacked. There was a tiny bit of damage to my cheap-ass IKEA bed this past time (one of the drawers seems to be damaged on the slider), but I don't blame the movers, it is a crappy bed so not surprising it broke after two moves. The price for the move was just about what I expected, and in line with what I was quoted on the phone. I tipped the movers, of course, which added a bit more but they are worth it. I will for sure call them again if I move - hopefully I'm staying put for now! read more

These guys were amazing. They showed up exactly when they said they were going to show up, walked into the apartment to survey it for no more than two minutes or so, and then got to work. They did pad our belongings, especially some antique dinner table chairs we have, but they did the job quickly and efficiently (not sloppily). What most surprised us was their willingness--in fact, almost eagerness--to take things we had not really packed in boxes or that were just lying loose (such as books). We were planning on taking them ourselves, but they happily loaded it in the truck. They arrived at the new place quickly and immediately set to work. They were bringing in everything so fast that we barely had time to think about where to tell them to put it (which is good)! I should also say that stairs were involved in each location. Despite potential problems such as our gigantic couch and large bird cage, they maneuvered through everything easily and efficiently. I also like that they quickly reassembled the bed upon arrival. I ended up paying exactly what I was quoted in addition to a hefty tip. I'll also add that this was something of a spur-of-the-moment move, and I found USA Moving MUCH more accommodating than other movers we had considered. Highly, highly recommended. read more

I would not use any other company than USA moving and storage. The only company, and I used many, who does what it says. Guys show up on time or let know if they are to be late. Charge exactly what they say and work hard throughout. I used this company twice to move into a 3rd story walk up.... It was tough and they did an amazing job! Cheerful, pleasant, diligent, fast.
