## A Smooth Rental Experience...Until the Unexpected Charge!…read more
I needed to move some belongings out of a storage unit, which meant renting a van. I used to rent one occasionally from the Shell gas station, but since they no longer offer rentals, I decided to give this location a try.
After reading some of the reviews, I made a point of scheduling my pickup for **7:00 AM, right when they opened**. Apparently, I wasn't the only one with that idea because there was already a couple ahead of me when I arrived! LOL!
Fortunately, the check-in process was fairly quick, and the woman behind the counter was very helpful. For some reason, the link I received to verify my identity wasn't working, but she was able to take care of it using her phone. Problem solved!
The van itself was clean and in good condition. I took the time to inspect it and photograph everything before leaving. Unfortunately, the link they sent for uploading the photos wasn't working either, so I wasn't able to submit them through their website. Not exactly ideal, but at least I had the photos for my own records.
Returning the van was just as easy. An employee checked it back in, completed the inspection, and I was on my way. Up to this point, everything had gone pretty smoothly.
I made a point of stopping for gas before returning the van, filling it back to what I believed was the correct fuel level. Imagine my surprise when I got home and discovered an additional $15 charge on my bill!
By that time, I was already out enjoying brunch, and frankly, I wasn't about to spend part of my Saturday driving back there to dispute $15. That's practically the price of a cocktail, and the aggravation and extra driving just weren't worth it. So, I decided to eat the charge and move on.
Overall, the rental process was straightforward, the employees were helpful, and the van served its purpose. My only frustrations were the verification and photo-upload links not working and, more importantly, the unexpected charge after returning the vehicle.
Would I rent from this location again? Probably, if I needed a van. However, next time I'll make sure the fuel level is verified with an employee before leaving and double-check the final charges. A decent rental experience that unfortunately ended with an extra $15 charge and a little disappointment. Sometimes it's not the amount of money, but the principle of the thing.
