When I moved a few months back, I knew I needed boxes and who to call. Just like before, MBN was awesome. * My boxes, paper, and tape were delivered quickly. * The price was extremely reasonable. I had considered renting crates, but they were considerably more expensive than MBN. * All of the boxes were in great shape. The boxes: Three stars. Average. About what you'd expect for gently used boxes. Some are a little more used than the others. Some look seriously pristine. Most of them had some sort of writing on them, though, unlike what the website's picture depicts. So...if you have issues with putting your books into a box that has "EGGS KEEP REFRIGERATED" on the side, then maybe this isn't the right service for you. I haven't Yelped in quite a few years, but these guys were worth coming out of the woodwork for. I'm moving in a few weeks and per usual, am completely unprepared and unorganized. I travel a lot for work, don't have a car in the city, and am a solid 12 on the Procrastination Scale of 1-10. Also, I prefer to spend my money on food, wine and shoes as opposed to boxes and tape. Enter Yelp, glorious Yelp, and Moving Boxes now. In all honesty, I don't have much to contribute that hasn't already been said in a review here before, but they were so great I wanted to make sure they got another 5-star review that they deserved. I ordered my boxes at 7:45am and left a voicemail for Chris, the owner, to arrange my delivery. You should note that at 7:44 I was busy saying a silent prayer that they could somehow, magically, be delivered today since I'm going out of town this weekend and travelling again for work next week, leaving me with approximately two hours to pack up my entire life and aforementioned shoes before I get booted out of my current residence. At 7:55, Chris called me back and said that he was busy today with other orders but could drop them off tomorrow. I pitifully explained that I'm a terrible human being, the worst last-minute packer ever and that if there was annyyyyy wayyyy he could do it today I'd be eversograteful and Saint Christopher graciously agreed. Cheerfully agreed, in fact! He helped me get everything into my scary old-school elevator and dropped it off at my door and then even mentioned that if I needed extra boxes to give him a call because he's always around Lakeview, where I live. I honestly think I'd almost forgotten how nice it is to receive such seriously great service. I will be recommending them to every friend, family member and acquaintance I know, as well as unsuspecting strangers that look like they may be in need of a box or two. For $49, I'm the proud owner of a huge set of boxes (that unfortunately I can't pay Moving Boxes Now to pack for me, but if I could, I bet they'd do a bomb job at it) and a fan for life. read more

This place is amazing. One of the hardest things about cleaning out your apartment and packing to move is finding eco-conscious alternatives to throwing things away or wasting resources. Chris at Moving Boxes Now is incredible. I needed to buy boxes in a snow storm and neither wanted to rent a car to pick them up nor waste money and cardboard on one-use boxes in the first place. Wow this place is awesome! I love how this place uses gently used boxes and they were clean too! It looks like they get them from manufacturers who throw out their boxes. Overall they held up well in my cross country move. And they were easy to work with! A few reason for the 4 stars: - The roll of tape they supply isn't very sticky and doesn't seem very thick. I double/tripled the tape and it held up ok - I managed to use every square inch of my 1-bedroom apartment and ran out of boxes from the 1-bedroom package. I wound up having to buy 8 more boxes - The medium sized box was vertical-shaped so it was hard to figure out which household items should go in it. Would've been better if it was more cubed-shaped. Everyone who has had to move in Chicago knows that familiar feeling of dread. The entire process sucks, from hauling those expensive boxes on the CTA to lugging them to your new place. MBN changed moving forever. It made moving suck SO MUCH LESS. It was awesome. The time window was the usual two hours. I figured it'd be a lot like other time windows, where two hours really means three and a half. I was shocked when he called me 30 minutes after the beginning of the window, ready for me to come down and pick up my boxes. The man who delivered my boxes, Chris, was so nice. He helped me bring the boxes up to my apartment! the boxes are plentiful, sturdy, and reasonably priced. I even had some left over. Anyone who is moving in Chicago should absolutely use this. 10/10. OMGosh!!! This place is awesome! We are going to be moving and had to buy some boxes. I couldn't believe how expensive these things are, but then we stumbled upon this place via google and not only were the prices outstanding, but to know that we are recycling also makes us feel all the better. This was literally the best experience and decision I have ever made for a move. We ordered the 1 bedroom set on a friday night and they delivered the boxes (and then some) by sat. morning at 10 am. Chris was so nice and processed our order so quickly. They even threw in some extra tape and paper to pack with. These boxes did not look used they looked brand new. We went to our storage locker and saw the same boxes retailing for over $6 per piece. Had we gone that route, we would have spent upwards of $200 or more. I should just say "what they said!" because all the positive reviews on Moving Boxes Now perfectly define our experience, but I'll give a little extra info for good measure :) When we booked our moving company, they recommended using The Chicago Green Box, which is another good option when moving or if you want to be extra kind to the environment, but after a friend recommended Moving Boxes Now, we decided to go with them because it was half the price AND there was no time limit on the boxes (since Green Boxes are reusable, they drop them off then pick them up 2 weeks later, or you can pay more to keep them longer). Although I hope to pack our condo and unpack into our new house in a timely fashion, it's a risky gamble :) We decided to go with MBN due to the cost savings, and were not disappointed. Even better than the boxes (we bought the 2 room option) you get supplies! They gave us two rolls of paper and several rolls of packing tape, which means I had no excuses: I could start packing the second they dropped the boxes off. And! Chris was so nice when he dropped them off--even asking if he should take off his shoes when walking the boxes up. This year I didn't need as many boxes and they had the perfect package for my studio! MBN was nothing but helpful and fantastic for my recent move. Moving last minute with very little packing supplies and no car to drive to the Home Depot to get boxes, or hunt for free ones on Craigslist, MBN seemed to be my only option. Chris at MBN was so friendly and very accommodating with my order and delivery window. When ordering online, the delivery windows might not work out, so just give them a call and they will do whatever they can to work with what will work for you. The sizes are great and the boxes are sturdy. For being "used" boxes, they work wonders and look brand new. Also the prices are very reasonable. The packages they offer are what you have to order, but they're very accommodating in terms of switching out sizes or bringing extra of a certain size if you need. With friends, family and myself I've probably been a part of a major move about 24 times in my life. One of the biggest initial hassles is always getting the boxes. I came across this company on yelp and decided to try them out. I was and still am completely impressed. I put in a order for a single bedrooms worth of boxes and they were delivered right to my door within 36 hours. The price is also right as well. I would have probably paid a good 30-40$ more (at least) if I had to go to Home Depot or somewhere else to get boxes. They do advertise that the boxes are pre used so I was cautiously optimistic about that one. Turns out the boxes have been once used but other than that they appear to be clean as can be. Bottom line, great value and great service all around. If you need moving boxes give them a call for sure. read more

I just used Recycled BXS yesterday and today; I emailed Chris via his website late Monday night and woke up to an email from him Tuesday morning and had a delivery of sturdy boxes of various sizes as requested by Tuesday afternoon. The boxes were in great condition and the price was unbeatable----half as many boxes would've been 3x as much from a moving supply store. I hadn't expected I'd need as many small boxes as I did and called Chris the next day and by late afternoon, had another shipment of small boxes for a few bucks. He's super helpful, courteous, and communicative so you know what's going on. Plus, when you're done moving, if you break them down, he'll come haul them away for you and re-use them (as long as they're still in good condition). It's a win-win for everyone! read more
