We asked Next Door Movers to help us move out of our downtown apartment for the second time. The first time went so swiftly and easily that we knew we needed them for our next move. Lets just say they packed and moved our entire apartment down four flights of stairs and back up three flights of stairs after driving all of it across town. The rate was more than reasonable and when they saw we were running low on time, they just called another team and doubled their man power. This past Sunday (Oct 31, 2022), I moved from River North to my home with the help of the three person crew from Next Day Movers! - it was a last minute appointment and when I requested a quote it took minutes for them to respond and we're very accommodating and explained how the process would go as well as answering any questions I had - on the day of my move (scheduled for 8am), they came 15 minutes early - wrapped all fragile things and handled everything with extreme care - packed everything into truck very fast! - unpacked very fast as well! They also asked where everything needed to go before bringing them in - they were polite, fast, efficient, and kind! The whole process took about 2.5hrs which is great especially with me expecting it to take 4hrs... could not have done this move without them! Very thankful for this crew of three (forgot to get their names unfortunately) and next day movers overall. Will definitely recommend them to anyone! read more

Save yourself the hassle, surprise of fees never discussed up front and harassment and threats on the back end if you seek resolution - use a different moving company. I hired Next Door Movers to pack and unpack me. They kept tacking on surprise fees not mentioned in their quote. $25-$50 to move TVs that were simply wrapped in shrink wrap and $200 to take my boxes away. (See Jon M's review below..he notes a similar experience). The company did not deliver on its promises...due to disability I asked them to hang my clothes in the closet and place things on the shelves. When they said they were done, the closet looked like a bomb had exploded inside. It was a total mess and when I asked them about it, they said they were done. When they were ready to leave they pressured me for a bigger tip than what I had given. After they departed, I discovered new electronics and other things missing. They had promised me a credit since a family member used them around the same time. The credit never came (and apparently they did the same thing to my family member in terms of changing pricing and adding charges during the move). When I tried to contact via email multiple times to discuss the matter, the messages bounced back. My only remaining recourse was to request a charge back from my credit card company. Since then I have received phone calls and harassing and threatening texts at all hours of the day and night. Messages calling me a "dumb whore", "bop" and other derogatory terms from a variety of numbers. I asked the messengers to stop harassing me but that hasn't worked and each string mentions the request for chargeback so it's clearly linked. If you want a smooth move, without valuables disappearing, unexpected charges and harassment and intimidation post-move, I recommend you use a different moving company. read more

THEY DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE!!!! THEY ARE A SCAM AND WILL ARGUE WITH YOU ABOUT THINGS THEY BROKE MUST READ!!!!! I wish I could give no stars but I can't. literally the worst move of my life!!!!!! I asked them to be early which they were but it was raining that day that so I woke up early 5:40am to be exact to buy a tent form Walmart (opens at 6 am) on thought so the movers would not get wet. I let the moves know hey I got this tent for you guys to use they choose to use the tent. during the move they were constantly talking and stopping. I even explainedto the manager that I went in my car with my dog for 30 minutes to be out there way. and that whole time frame nobody came out. So I then go in side and they are sitting talking to each other watching video on the phone because they thought I had gone. and then taking 25 mins to get to the next location that was only 5 mins away laughable. which I ended up giving the wrong address but the sent the right address that was 2 minutes away from the wrong address I initially sent and proceeded to 15 minutes to get that one the excuse was "they had to put it in there gps) (there are two CubeSmart on Oakton and they are both two minutes away from each other each on opposite sides of McCormick). then had the nevre to tell me and my husband a job like this we have to give a 100 tip on top of the move. I explained to the manager they stole that tip by not working and we were paying for that time. lastly we experienced broken items and when I called about said items my things then told to just take it back to the store. but I don't have a receipt for things I was planning on keeeping!! I had a microwave in a brown box open they said they would take it out the box to move it and wrap it and everything would be okay from there. my vanity is leaning due to the way they have token it down to the point where it cant stand tall he states it just off the hook. laughable again he then proceed tells me that it's my fault things started late (due to me getting a tent so his workers won't get wet) and that he was not going to replace things because he had to pay them for time.) but that's a problem of his workers because they should have said no thanks because they pay us by the hourly and we need to get started! I also asked did they have insurance and then he proceeds to tell me his insurance does not cover my things that I needed to get my own insurance to cover my stuff. read more

I've moved a lot over the past 5-10 years and this company is truely amazing! They work so hard and so fast to get your move completed in a timely manor. They also put my bed together, helped me hang large artwork and were all around very helpful. My recent move was a small one, so I really appreciate that their minimium is 2 1/2 hours vs the typical 5 hours many movers require. I'm a Realtor and will confidently recommend them to all of my clients. I'm so tired of movers who overly wrap everything in plastic in order to charge more for wrap and tape. Not very environmently friendly and doing this makes it such a pain to unwrap once in the new place. read more

It's tough for me to recommend these movers when they use hidden fees. We agreed on a set hourly rate. When they show up, they tell me $25 to move a small TV and $50 to move a big TV, $10 per item to shrink wrap and $2 per roll of tape. I mean, c'mon. This is not how you do business. All in all, they got the move done but this practice soured me on the company. I contacted them before posting this review and they didn't seem to care. Next time I will use a company that is upfront about pricing. read more

I am so incredibly impressed with Next Door Movers! Firstly, their quote they gave was 100% accurate. Nothing hidden and no extra costs (besides tip ). They arrived to my house 30 minutes early, which made my moving day feel even more relaxed because we knew we were in amazing hands.
