Roy's answered my call on a Friday and was available to pack up my grandma's apartment 2 days later on a Sunday. They followed through on everything, called the day before to confirm, emailed the details and the quote, called when they were about 45 minutes out and arrived on time and prepared. We had to moving from IL to OH. We had multiple quotes from national van/moving companies. I wanted some one local. Checked Yelp and found Roy's Moving to have a perfect 5 out of 5. Called the number and who else picks up but the owner Roy! Within a few days an in House quote was made and we had a time/price/date set. On the day of the move he had 7 people there to load our place! Obviously not al of them came to Ohio but boy did it speed up the process of loading and unloading. Roy personally supervised my move. They were able to unload me in Ohio the next day. The same people who loaded me unloaded me which was great. (National van/moving companies normally take 5 business days until they unload and it's different people who unload you, which was not an attractive option.) Everyone was extremely professional, nice, and helpful. They carefully took apart and wrapped all of our larger items and then carefully put them back together upon arrival. All in all, definitely a 5 out of 5. Totally see now why Roys Moving has a 5 out of 5. They deserve no less! read more

Roy and his team moved my room mate and I about a month ago. We were scrambling at the last minute to find a moving company with affordable prices. Every company we contacted was either booked or super expensive. They made me cry...! The crew was quick, efficient, careful, accommodating, and respectful. I could leave it at that - because for movers, that alone earns five stars. But here goes: I changed my move date and time about eight or ten times. And when it got to be the day of the move, while they were moving my stuff into storage- I didn't listen to them when they were storing it (cause of course, I knew better, having done a move exactly zero times). And then I had them come back...two days later...to undo what I made them do so that they could do it the way they told me to do it in the first place. These guys didn't complain one time about any of my crazy - and yes, there was some crazy! If you're looking for a crew in Chicago - there is not anyone better. No one. Period. That was by far the best moving experience we have ever had! Roy's movers showed up right on time, they were kind, efficient, and definitely knew what they were doing. They worked super fast, but we're also careful and communicated with us throughout the day about our needs. They wrapped and unwrapped furniture, reassembled everything in its correct room location, and they figured out how to get some big pieces down our very narrow stairwell. The most accurate description I can give this company is careless. I gave them two stars instead of one because the owner, Roy is a really nice, likable guy as are the men who work for him. I hired him because he sold me on what a good job he does and that they were carefull. They broke a very expensive art piece, an un-expensive lamp and a newish, fabulous table. From his description of how these accidents occurred it was total carelessness. He did offer, and I accepted some financial compensation off of the fee, which helped somewhat and I know he/they were sorry. But when he took the table to be repaired and returned it a week later, the first time we moved it (it was light) it broke off where the repair was and you could see that it was just glued. A total disaster. My hanging clothes, which I had carefully put in separate plastic bags, tied at the bottom, were crumpled every which way, thrown into a large moving box on wheels. We color coded every box as to the location it would go in and made a map to further direct the placement. The movers half tried to put things in the right place, stacking some of the boxes upside down and in a disorderly fashion. Actually a few pieces of furniture wrapped nicely in moving pads and plastic wrap were also moved in upside down. He originally came to my house to give me the moving quote. During the move he commented more than once how much stuff I had and that he should have quoted me more. In the middle of the move the freight elevator stuck. The movers had been given precise instruction as to how to operate it, especially as it was an older elevator. What i found out after the fact was that it jams when you don't let it come to a full resting stop before changing gears. Like i say, careless. read more

The day before my planned move, the company I reserved with flaked out on me. So, I called Roy. He was very pleasant on the phone. He asked a lot of questions to gain an understanding of my needs. I informed him of the items I had to move, including a Bowflex Treadclimber. He asked if he could come by that day to check out the machine and determine what he'd need the next day to ensure the move went smoothly! Wow! Roy and another member of his team stopped by to fully assess the situation. They developed a plan of action, provided me with a reasonable quote, and booked me for the next morning! Roy's three-man crew arrived on time the next day and immediately got to work. They handled my belongings safely and quickly. I moved from a first floor (ground-level) unit to a second floor walk up. These amazing men moved my large, bulky Treadclimber WITHOUT disassembling it! My previous unit had wide hallways and doorways but my new unit has a long narrow hallway. Roy and his crew carried the machine up a flight and a half of stairs and down the hallway, into a room without damaging the machine or any walls! They completed the job in 3 hours. I'm very pleased with their quick response time, high quality work, and pleasant attitudes! I'll definitely utilize their service again when needed. read more

I called Roy Saturday evening looking for a furniture pick up and delivery service the next morning from Lakeview to West Town, and he gave me a reasonable quote over the phone right away. Texted and called a few more times to discuss the details of the pick up and all communication was handled in a professional and responsive manner. After picking up the sofa and love seat I had purchased, Roy's crew carefully handled and carried them into my studio. They even brought out their toolkit to disassemble a few pieces of the furniture so it would fit through my narrow doorway. Don't know what I would have done without their help. Who loves moving? It is one of those necessary evil's in life. My husband and I are a lucky pair that moves more often than most - so we have experienced the good, the bad, and the wall-crushingly ugly. This past month we had to move (yet again!)...but this time just up the street. You would think that kind of move (just up the street) would be easier than one across the country - but it turns out, packing sucks just the same. The next painful step was to find a mover- eeek!! We received a good number of quotes from all the major (and some smaller) moving companies in the Chicagoland area. Blah, blah, blah we gave them all the run down of our 2 bedroom 2 bath condo and all of its contents. They gave us an estimate. Pretty standard. But then we contacted Roy- who, rather than making us rattle off a list- asked if he could come to give us an estimate in person. Within a few hours, Roy (himself!) showed up (on-time!) and we took him on a walk-through of our unit. Roy said the walk-through was important to him so that he could get a better estimate of 1) the time it will take 2) the number of movers and 3) the size truck(s) needed. Wow! Best yet- his 'estimate' was within the realm of the others, was a flat fee (no price gauging at the end of a move), and he saw first-hand what it would take (rather than giving a list and then the movers showing up with that shocked emoji face). Moving = anxiety. Roy = calmness. Roy kept us calm and re-assured us leading up to the move. Since we were moving out of an elevator building, and into an elevator building- that meant 2 separate "elevator reservations," which we laid out to Roy. Calm. The day of the move, Roy and his men showed up literally on the dot! (With HORRIBLE traffic in the area, too!) My husband and I do this thing where he waits with the truck while I direct the traffic from inside the unit. I received the "heads up" that they arrived and within 2 minutes, I was showing 5 men the layout of the unit and then BAM! They started what can only be described as a production line. One guy picked up and passed to the next, which was handed to the next, and out the door to the elevator our items went. FAST.....SO FAST!! Our boxes were completely out the door and down to the truck within 40 minutes. Then the furniture started. Anything and everything that needed to be wrapped, the guys wrapped with blankets (that they brought) and plastic (that they also brought....and was included!) so carefully and again SO FAST! The move out part of our move took a whopping 2 hours and 45 minutes (we had a lot to wrap and one of those slow, tiny elevators). Up the street they went and we met them at our new location. Within 10 minutes of figuring out where to dock the truck, the guys were bringing items into the new place at warp speed! Ironically they helped the previous tenants out of the unit that we were moving into, so they knew the layout well and were putting our boxes and furniture exactly where they needed to be! The move-in took just under 2 hours. Long story short- these men, this moving company, and Roy (the owner!) are AMAZING. We have already recommended them to others and will continue to do so anytime anyone needs to move. They also move people out of state on those long-distance, scary-type moves...which I am SURE are a breeze with Roy's Moving 1! We will use them again...and again...and again. We had a dresser that was moved and when it didn't fit in our new home, I offered it to Roy or to any of the movers. Days later, I realized I had left some clothes in the drawers.
