For comparison, I previously used Moovers for a local move within Chicago and had a significantly better experience. Here are the issues I experienced during the move with Father & Son's: -Property damage: There were gouges and scratches made in our hardwood floors during unloading. -Exterior damage: Their vehicle ran over and broke one of our driveway lights upon arrival. -Truck transfer: The company did not disclose in advance that our belongings were transferred between trucks during transit. -Insufficient staffing and equipment: The team arrived without proper moving equipment (no dollies, no lifting gear, Martin was wearing Crocs) and was unable to move our bed to the second floor. We had to hire another company after the move to complete this. In addition, the crew handed items to us to carry inside, which is unusual for a professional moving service. -Insurance issues: We are now working with their insurance regarding the damage, and learned that the coverage does not include the full-value protection described at the time of booking. -Late Arrival: Martin and his crew were an hour late to load the truck Overall, the service provided fell below expectations for a professional long-distance move. If you're looking for a high-quality, fully equipped moving service, I would recommend looking at other companies.

Albert and his team have been my go to movers over the summer and have helped me out of some tight…read moresituations. I have used him twice and both times he and his teammate have been hardworking, thoughtful and professional movers. Albert is communicative and responsive, not to mention very fair in terms of his pricing. I've been through multiple movers that have either been very late, don't communicate, don't show up, or are of questionable character, but not this crew. He has a box truck, moving tools, and pads--all you have to do is get out of the way and let them do their thing. I'll share one example that exemplifies these guys and their character. I was moving some items out of my house and into a storage unit. After Albert's team had loaded everything up to the unit, we realized that everything wasn't going to fit, I had gotten too small of a unit, definitely my fault. Albert saw the stress and frustration on my face and he remained calm and told me it wouldn't be a problem. I luckily found a larger storage unit in the building and the JReed's team got all of my items settled, organized and stacked beautifully. Whenever I need something to move, no job is too big or too small, this is my go to team. I'd encourage everyone to try them as well.

They picked up the chair within the time frame, and I could see as they made the trip up North. They were courteous, brought the chair up a flight of stairs, and placed it where I directed them. One small thing -- we were told they would place plastic wrap around the chair but they didn't. The chair, however, looked fine. I would use Movers on The Spot again if I needed something transported/moved in my immediate vicinity.

My experience with Crescent Movers was great and it started with Susan the person answering the…read morephone. She was professional and knowledgeable and just had a very nice disposition. I gave her an accurate account of the items I would be moving when and where and I received a quote in about 20 minutes. The day before I received a call regarding the move to confirm and see if I had any major changes that would change the quoted price. On the day of the move the movers arrived a little late but it didn't bother me, my move was scheduled for 9-11 and they arrived at 930 and still I was out by 11, I had a 1 bedroom apt on the 4th flr. My entire move was done by noon!!!! They had gotten to my new place unpacked reassembled items they took apart and put things where they were labeled, ie basement bedroom kitchen etc. The only complaint was that I wish they had told me that they were going to have more people moving me, the paperwork said 3 but it was 5 guys so I didn't have enough money for all the tips, but I guess they worked it out. Clearly this difference made a huge difference though I'm not sure why. Setting up and arranging was easy, they were polite and provided a great quote of $650 for 3 men for 5 hours of move of a 2 bedroom. This sounds great to me and I book. Day of move goes okay however they took a very slow time moving things downstairs, acted surprised I had a flight of stairs when I told them multiple times in the arrangements, and dropped several things one being an inherited framed tapestry from my grandmother. This would all be fine except when we got to my new location they were clearly exhausted (2 of them are not in "moving guys shape") and almost irritated they had to finish the job. Like...that's literally what I am hiring the service for. However, what really tipped the scales was by the end, because it took them 2 hours longer than anticipated they doubled the price to a bit over $1200 and then had the audacity to ask if I was going to tip! I was, and had the money ready but how dare you flat out ask for it! To add insult to injury after they left and I tipped I found the broken tapestry. Additionally, they put heavy boxes on breakables and though I inventoried and labeled each box with the room it should go in they threw them literally in the almost opposite direction. The littlest mover, was the best. He was friendly, professional and darn strong for being so small. He worked his butt off and if I could've given everything to him I would have. Asking them about the tapestry I inquired if I should go through my insurance or theirs. They suggested theirs and then led me on a goose chase for a week before reverting back and saying I should go through my own insurance. For the fact that I didn't really save any money here by going with Crescent I would say absolutely choose another vendor.
