    Damage wall

    Do not use joeys movers! I was given one quote and later charged double because the movers "couldn't" get my sofas into the house and ofcourse more time more money. Not only more money they ripped my sofas and punctured my wall. Made me sign a form that if there was damage to walls they are not responsible. After signing the form i turned to corner and hole was in the wall already. I asked how they did that they're response was you signed the form we are not responsible. Someone was suppose to come sew my sofas to this day no one has called me at all. USE ACM MOVERS INSTEAD!!!

    0 STARS!!! I've only recently joined Yelp, but our experience was so bad with Joey's Movers when they moved us years ago that I feel the need to leave this review. We went back and forth with Patricia and Joseph regarding an excessive move time and damaged furniture for over five months with little to no results regarding our concerns. I have the emails to prove that days and sometimes weeks would go by with no response from Joey's Movers. We finally got to the point where we just gave up pursuing reimbursement/compensation. We were charged over $1,000 for a 7.5 hour move that should have taken half of that time. We were sent a crew that had already moved another household previously that day. They were clearly exhausted and horribly unprepared as they didn't even have water with them. My husband purchased a pack of water and pizza for the crew. In addition to their slow pace, the whole crew would take fairly long breaks every hour adding to our move time. We had several pieces of furniture damaged and items broken during our move. Boxes were not put into the correct rooms although our boxes were clearly labeled. Boxes were often stacked in a haphazardly fashion and boxes marked fragile were upside down or had heavier boxes stacked on top of them. They somehow also swapped our fairly new step-stool for their rickety, old, slightly broken step-stool. They initially sent someone out to fix our furniture and he did an absolutely horrible job (couch picture with unevenly spaced and visible staples as well as shiny resin (?) put onto a matte piece of furniture). The second company who was employed to fix our furniture did a much better job, however, there was some damage done by Joey's Movers upon returning the furniture. That's where things stalled and Patricia and Joseph stopped returning our emails and phone calls. We were never refunded for the excessive time our move took, we never received a replacement step-stool, nor had our furniture issues been completely resolved. The sad thing about all of this is we used this company because my husband's father taught one of the family members. Also Joseph, I've read your previous responses to reviews. Obviously my name is not Boogers R., so please don't respond that I probably have the wrong business. I definitely don't and can provide you with all of the emails if you'd like to right this wrong.

    I was initially so impressed with All My Sons dba "New City Moving". They quoted me $190/hr for…read morelabor plus a $290 flat fee, and I paid a $100 deposit. The team confirmed all the details ahead of time, including my request to move over 10 pieces of artwork. They estimated a 5-hour move with three men, and on the day of the move, they arrived promptly at 8 AM, worked efficiently, and completed the move-out by 1 PM. The move-in process at my new home started at 1 PM and wrapped up around 3 PM. Throughout the day, the team was respectful, careful with my belongings, and truly seemed to go the extra mile. I was so appreciative of their hard work that when the team lead, Sergio, requested a cash tip, I went to the ATM and withdrew $500 -- $200 of which I gave directly to the crew as they finished up. Unfortunately, this is where my experience took a sharp turn. I placed the remaining $300 in my purse, consisting of one $100 bill and $200 in $20 bills. After noticing the sky open up around 2:30 PM with heavy rain, I felt even more sympathetic to their efforts and decided to give them an additional $100. When I went to retrieve the money, I was shocked to find my purse had been disturbed and only $100 (in 20's) remained. To make matters worse, when I returned to my old apartment to finish cleaning, I found a pile of belongings left behind. Despite paying for a full-service move, it seems the crew simply decided some of my things weren't worth taking. The lack of communication and care was beyond frustrating. And if all of that wasn't enough, after providing my email address multiple times, I still have not received an itemized receipt, invoice, or a clear breakdown of charges. The final bill came to $2,145 -- almost twice the original estimate -- leaving me furious. After deducting the $100 deposit, I owed $2,045. I understand that moving is tough and unexpected factors can arise, but the dramatic increase in cost combined with the apparent theft, lack of accountability, and poor service left a lasting impression. I cannot in good conscience recommend All My Sons dba "New City Moving." While the physical labor of the move was well done, the lack of integrity and professionalism by at least one member of the crew completely ruined the experience. If you decide to use this company, I strongly advise keeping your valuables secured, double-checking that all your belongings are loaded, documenting all interactions, and following up on the communication regarding your charges.

I scheduled my move three weeks in advance and the person on the phone was so sweet and helpful. However, I called and I confirmed my move for 11 am the day before I moved, and they said everything was set. On moving day, thy messaged me saying they would be 1 hour late and that their truck broke down. At this point, I was like ok, that's ok. However, 12 pm rolled around and no one came. I called again, and this time they told me that they changed my moving time from 2-4 pm. I was pissed because no one told me but whatever. At 3:30 pm, no one came still and I called again and this time the woman let me call the moving dispatcher myself. I called him and he was extremely rude to me. I asked him how long it would take for him to get to me, and he told me that it would probably be 7 pm...maybe. I asked him why it was taking so long and he got really aggressive on the phone saying that there are at least 20 customers ahead of me and it doesn't matter when I scheduled the move. He started yelling at me and saying he didn't care and that he didn't know what to say to me anymore, he could probably be there at 9 pm. To me, since I am a woman living alone, I did not want to move at night, so I just said whatever and hung up. I then called about 5 moving companies and finally found one for next day moving. They were great and I paid double what Skokie offered me, but it was done right and they were respectful the whole time. You get what you pay for I guess. I will say this though, the customer service people you talk to on the phone are super nice and probably get yelled at too often because of shit like this. I feel bad for them, so this one star is for them.
