Booking: I didn't start searching for movers until a week prior to my moving date (yes, I'm a natural-born procrastinator). I had a few quotes from several companies and ACM Movers gave me the best deal so I decided to book with them. They give you a window of time in which your movers will arrive. Mine was between 2-3 PM. They take a $50 deposit at time of booking (you pay the rest after the move is finished). They took my card over the phone for the deposit. Moving Day: On the day of my move, I received a call from them around 12:50 PM explaining their movers will be arriving late between 4-4:30 PM because of some issues with their moving truck. My window of arrival was between 2-3 PM, so although I was a bit disappointed since it was not a short delay, I do understand that sometimes things happen out of our own control. I am not an unreasonable person. I do appreciate that they let me know ahead of time instead of during my window of arrival. Communication is key for all relations and businesses. Arrival: They arrived at 4:15 PM. They wasted absolutely no time when they arrived. I was asked what they should and shouldn't be moving. While Daniil went over my moving information/details and pricing for me to sign, Vlad was already loading up my things to the truck. By the time I finished with the documents, half my things were already loaded. Daniil quickly joined Vlad thereafter. The Move: The move was swift and rapid, but with care. They finished loading up my things within half an hour of arriving. I was impressed! It has got to be the fastest move I've ever experienced and I've moved quite a bit in my lifetime. I am literally a nomad. When we got to my destination, it took them roughly 40 minutes to complete the move. I had a small storage space and I honestly didn't think all my belongings could fit but they magically made it happen and I was very happy because I really did not want to rent another space or go through the hassle of changing my storage unit. From time of arrival to time finished, it took them about 2 hours with some minutes to spare. My quote was for 2 hours and it was spot on with the information I had given them. Payment/Quote/Completion: $129/hour x 2 hours $129 for distance/mileage Total $387 If you go over your time slot then an increase in price will obviously take place. But, with how fast these guys work I don't think you'll see any surprise additional costs, so just make sure everything is in order on your end with scheduling elevator reservation at your designated properties to avoid any unforeseen circumstances. This is just Moving 101. You can pay with cash, Zelle, or Venmo. I'm not sure if they take cards, but I paid through Venmo with my remaining balance. I would inquire about acceptable payments if you don't have any of the options mentioned above. Overall Experience: Although there were some mishaps with the arrival time, these guys were diligent and professional with their work and made up for it with their brisk and smooth move. My things are still intact and not damaged, which is most important to me. All other miscellaneous issues I can overlook. But, that's just me. These guys take their work seriously and you can just tell. I am planning to use them again for my next move and hopefully I can request for the same guys (Vlad and Daniil), but I'm sure everyone in their company is just as good. One packer was high, asked repeatedly for a tip. Found them from Craigs list, receiving end were off of Facebook. Not professional, damages inappropriate. Would not recommend. read more

DO NOT USE ACM MOVERS. I had a horrible experience with this company and would not recommend them to anyone. We chose them because they quoted us a lower price than others, but when the crew arrived on moving day, they claimed we had more belongings than estimated and doubled our price after loading, from $3,000 to $6,000. At delivery, the driver stayed in his truck and slept while a single mover was left to unload everything alone, and our items were carelessly thrown into our storage unit with no real care. Worse, our dresser was destroyed and our vacuum was dented during the move. The dresser alone cost over $1,000, yet when we filed a claim, their claims department offered us $50 in compensation. They claimed I opted for a lower coverage, but at pickup, after our belongings were already loaded onto the truck, we were told the only coverage option available was $0.60 per pound, presented to us after the point where we had any real ability to shop around or say no, and we were told we had to sign it with no explanation of better options. Between the dishonest quote, the damaged items, the lazy unload, this felt like a company focused more on locking in customers rather than actually move their belongings safely. I only used this company because they called me back and offered to bring the original quote down to gain my business. I agreed to give my business because of this. On the day of move which was scheduled to begin at 8am-10am. They arrived at 9:20am. The movers came with a new quote because another family in the building was moving and it would take them longer was the excuse. He quoted me an additional $200-$300 more than the first out. $632-790 was what I hesitantly signed and agreed to before they began. During the move everything went smoothly in spite of the inconvenience of the other family moving. They were pretty fast and was careful with my things. Although they were constantly trying to charge me for more things like boxes and blankets. Which I wasn't interested in doing. At the end of the move the mover tried to charge me $938. Which I didn't agree because that isn't the quote he originally quoted before he began. I refused because I simply didn't have it. He hunched shoulders and his excuse was the same. That the other family was moving and it took longer. This upset and made me really regret using this company because I realized I was being swindled and taken advantage of financially. I had nothing to do with the building communicating about there other tenants moving time. But ACM movers was penalizing me for it. I'm a black woman and I feel it absolutely played a part in the constant manipulation of pricing. The guy moving us told me to borrow it from friends or use a credit card to pay the amount he was trying to force me to pay. I explained I have no one to call and no credit cards. I also explained all I had was $794.06 in my account. I even showed the account. He hunched his shoulders and still tried to force the amount. I called the office they also tried force the amount and I explained you can take what I got which is what he quoted before they got started. I would not being more because I simply didn't have it and it wasn't what I was originally quoted or signed of for. I explained you can simply take what I have or not get paid at all. They took what I had. I was going to use this company to move my things out when it was time. This experience changed my mind. I would say yeah they are quick but they will swindle and have no integrity. So buyer beware. Especially if you are black. Because I'm sure they dont treat their white customers the same. Overall if they were on time 8am themselves what the other family was doing with their movers wouldn't have affected as much because they would have had an advantage over being done sooner. I was extremely disappointed with the end result and at pissed at their attempts to strong arm me financially. ACM movers located in Evanston because that's the address on the invoice and looking at the other people pics. Those are the same who took advantage of me. They have lost a customer because never again. Because of them being late, the constant pressure to charge me more for things outside my control and their disregard of the situation they were putting me in along with their poor customer service regarding customer care. I rate them a 1 star. I'll give them a two because in spite of they were pretty fast and they packed and unpacked my things safely. Horrible horrible service, I would never recommend dealing with this company. We set up an appointment for yesterday at 1pm with four movers. 1pm, no movers showed up. I called Yura and asked when we could expect the movers and he said between 3 and 4pm. Keep in mind, our agreement was at 1pm for two hours, I had a showing at my house. In addition, I had two family members drive 12 hours to Elmhurst with trailers to help move material back to our new house on the east coast. I explained to Yura about a showing at my home at 3:30 and he said they was my fault and the time for his movers to arrive was not guaranteed, nowhere in his confirmation. He said he could get the movers to me at 2:30 for an hour before the showing. I asked if I would only be charged one hour and he said, no. Illinois law says I must pay a minimum of two hours for his services. After going back and forth, Yura canceled his movers to come and help me and then blocked me on Facebook so we could not chat. However, after the move was completed, I was charged $180 for a two-hour travel fee that was never previously disclosed (this was in addition to a $120 truck fee and 2.75 hours of moving time at an agreed-upon hourly rate). I highly recommend DC Moving. We found them on Craig's List and were very responsive. They worked very well with us, even rescheduling last minute when our Uhaul got a flat. They were very kind and hustled hard, taking extra care of our more valuable pieces. We would 100% call them again if ever needed! I think most of the bad reviews come from people who hired them without informing them what floor they live on. Moving is very hard work! You must include what floor you live on. Absolutely horrible! Quoted me a firm price on the phone and verified via text message. Showed up 10 minutes late and proceeded to argue about the amount of stuff they would move. Changed the price to $75 per man. They thought since a woman had called to book it, I would pay out of desperation. Nope! Told them to leave. They require 2 hours of pay but will only move about 5 items. Don't trust them! Totally unprofessional and lazy. My sons did the entire job in 90 minutes. Overall the pick-up was ok. The movers appeared to have little experience with a fridge move. The fridge is 32" wide and 30" deep. With the handles the depth was closer to 34". When they arrived to the drop-off location they had trouble getting the fridge through the 36" door due to the handles. My recommendation is if you have a simple move they would be able to handle well. However, if you have a more complex or expensive piece of equipment this is not their specialty. They did follow up and were very cordial and wanted to make sure they addressed things properly and asked how they can improve in the future. The follow up and concern does go a long way. read more

Moving is difficult, but these guys really eased the process. They responed to my initial inquiry right away and gave me an estimate - it was the lowest price of any company I had called. They were able to schedule me for the day and time I needed, even though it was a holiday weekend. Vladimir and Andre showed up exactly on time and were very pleasant and professional. They seemed genuinely happy to help and got right to work. They were respectful of my belongings and worked efficiently and carefully. I felt very confident wirh the work.
