A+ moving service!! I had an interstate move during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Devon Moving Company made it a worry-free experience! I contacted the company ~1 month prior to my move and chose it due to good reviews on Yelp/Google as well as its unbeatable pricing! I spoke to over 15 moving companies and no other company responded as quickly or had as great of a deal as Devon Moving Company! They also called me one week prior to the move as well as the morning of the move to confirm all the details. On the day of the move, they sent 2 movers for our 1bed 1bath apartment. I have to really applaud their dedication to their work! They arrived on time immediately got down to business. They carefully wrapped up all of our furnitures and disassembled the larger ones. This is my second or third move with them. They were extremely efficient and professional. I have used several moving companies in Chicago. Devon moving is reasonably priced, straightforward, and have tremendous customer service. This time around they quoted me 2 guys at $80 per hour with a one time $80 travel fee. 2 hour minimum. I had estimated about 3 hours to move a one bedroom apartment from Wicker Park to Oak Park. They arrived promptly at 9am, loaded the truck up in an hour, and was done unloading everything at final destination by 11.30am. Woooooo!!!!! There are extra charges for wardrobe boxes, tape, additional boxes, and the total cost was $317 which was a steal in my opinion. I misheard them and thought it was $370 and I paid them with cash. Later, I got a callback from the driver/move team saying that I had overpaid them. Frank sent me back the money via Zelle. I am truly appreciative of their honesty and professionalism. I would use Devon moving anytime I have to move again (hopefully not in a while), but I would also recommend them in a heartbeat. read more

After seeing Devon Moving in action when they helped a friend of mine move I knew I wanted to hire them for our upcoming move. Their team is quick, efficient and careful. When it came to communication and professionalism, they were awful. They made an already stressful event much more so. First, they said they could help us on the date we requested, a Saturday Then we confirmed whether they had the size truck we needed (we were moving items from a 2 bedroom apartment and a small storage unit)they said they couldn't. Then they said either Friday or Saturday. We had to chase them down to confirm they could help us and how to pay them. Day of- team shows up 2.5 hours late (they did call to say they would be late) with the wrong sized truck. Apparently the larger truck had a flat but we wasted 30 minutes trying to figure out why they came with a 16ft truck instead. We agreed that they would move the apartment that day and the contents of the storage unit the following day. We understood that things happen and the team loaded up the 16 ft truck with the items from our apartment- the truck was extremely full. Some of them were complaining about the amount of work to do which I thought was interesting since they get paid by the hour. When the team was done unloading at our new house- they said we could pay cash or quickpay. I was irritated that those were our only options since their website says they accept all major credit cards but I was also exhausted and wanted to start unpacking boxes. I typed in the phone number in quickpay and showed it to the person from Devon moving who gave it to me. I asked- is this the right account? They said yes so I hit send. We agreed to meet at the storage unit at 9 the next day. Later, they texted saying 11 am. The following day, they let us know they were running late and showed up to the storage unit at 1:00. When I opened the unit, they got mad saying the items could have fit in the 16ft truck along with all the contents of our apartment the day before. I didn't see how that was possible given how full the truck had been. Even if it did all fit, it would not have arrived in good condition. Only when the team was finished loading the truck did they inform me that he didn't get my quickpay the day before. I told him what number I sent it to and he told me that wasn't the right one. When I told him I confirmed the number with his employee he said it was my fault for not calling him directly. I reminded him that we repeatedly asked him for information on how to pay prior to moving day and he gave us no info. No apologies whatsoever for all the back and forth with dates and times, for not having the right truck, and for the fact that his employee gave me the wrong phone number for the payment. Apparently we really inconvenienced Devon by hiring them for our move. Next time, I'll be sure to choose a company that has actual customer service. read more

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! RUINED FURNITURE, REFUSED TO REPLACE! Their movers completely ruined our new dining table before they even got it taken apart. We have no idea how they did it, but somehow they put numerous deep, long scratches across the tabletop while trying to get it ready to move. The company "repaired" the table, but the scratches are still quite visible, and the finish of the table is now very low quality (it is rough and uneven, and it stains and looks awful when we try to use any type of wood cleaner on it). The table also let off a horrible noxious gas that filled our apartment for weeks after the repair. The company is refusing to replace the table. I will post pictures of the scratches. By the way, the price for moving was WAY more than they quoted us because they took three times longer than they were supposed to. They were hesitant to take picture etc. which we ended up moving ourselves. Finding good moving help is so tough these days. Devon Moving is probably the best moving company I've ever used! No, they didn't pay me to say that and YES I really do mean it. I've moved about a dozen times in the last 10 years and the TWO times I've used Devon have been by far the easiest of all my moves. That's right, I've used them twice and I'm about to use them again for a third move! Both times the crew was fantastic, really courteous and very respectful of my things. They move so quickly, too! I'm going into my third move and I'm actually excited about it because I know that at least I won't have to stress about this part! Their rates are SO reasonable and if you find that they're a little higher than other quotes...I assure you they are definitely worth it. In my experience, Devon Moving took my furniture apart, wrapped things nicely with blankets and tape, loaded the truck, unloaded the truck and then actually put everything back together again (meaning they rebuilt all my furniture!). And one time, when I moved myself and needed help just unloading my truck last minute, I frantically called Devon Moving and they jumped to the rescue and saved me! I didn't get offered a check but I did get an offer for a free move in the future if I remove my review. As if I would ever trust them again.......... It's funny how I didn't get an apology after the job was screwed, but I get one only after I post a bad review. They have some good reviews and some bad so I guess working with them is hit or miss. In my opinion, there are too many moving companies out here to take the risk. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I wish I could tell you whether or not these guys are good movers or not but I can't because they ABANDONED the job and left our condo without telling us. I scheduled a move for Saturday morning 4/26/14. I had spoken with the company a few times before the move to confirm and reconfirm the date and time. They also sent a contract that stated the costs. The movers (3 guys) arrived on time at 9am. When they arrived, we spoke in detail about costs and they brought up an $85 truck fee. I was surprised by this and called their boss who I had spoken to over the prior week. He told me that the $85 truck fee was stated in the contract. I told him I didn't remember this, but oh well, the movers were here and I needed to move. No big deal. My memory is not the greatest so I took his word for it. The movers came back upstairs from trying to find parking and stated the move would probably be 3 hours. I again was surprised that it would take 3 hours to move a bed, 2 dressers, a couch, tv, and 10 of those 2ft plastic bins you can get from Walmart. But again I accepted it because the guys were pretty small in stature and probably took a little longer to move. I told the mover it was fine but I would have to run to the ATM to get more cash because I only had $200 on me to cover a 2 hour move ($85 and hour for 3 guys). He said ok and went back downstairs for what I assumed was to continue to look for parking around my building (the police had them move from the middle of the street). My fiance and I waited for about 10 min and the movers were still not back. I called the owner back and told him I couldn't find the movers. He says, "I told them to leave.".....3rd shock of the morning. Of course I ask why and he says "Because you didn't agree to my prices." I respond with "Ummmm we just talked 10 min ago and I told you it was fine." He says "Well my mover says you only have $200." I responded "Ummm I also told him that I was going to the ATM to get more money. I can't believe you just left without telling me! If you don't trust that I'll pay, just ask for the money upfront. Don't just abandon the job! This is completely unprofessional and I'll never do business with you again." He said ok and hung up. We were so shocked by Devon's exit all we could do was laugh. We had cleaners coming at 2:00pm so my fiance and I moved everything into the living room so they could at least clean the kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms. I don't know if Devon Moving has been shafted in the past and assumed the worst, but you can't be scared to tell a customer that you're uncomfortable and that you'd rather not move forward with the transaction. If they had, they could have gotten their money upfront and everyone could have had a great day. I guess my one star rating is for showing up on time lol. Fortunately, we found a great moving company, Alexander Moving Company, that came to our rescue at 9am the next morning. It is true, I am on here with a different name because I wish to be anonymous as people started recognizing me from my previous picture and reviews, which got annoying. Devon had offered to "make things right" but how? I'm in a different state and my stuff is in storage, so i told them I want nothing to do with them. I gave them names of people who messed up, and they still want to claim I am confused? So, let me list it here as public proof to them. I would leave this as 2 stars because you offered to try to make it right, but now you are trying to weasel out of accepting that this is your company by claiming I have the wrong company? Now you're down to one. And remember Frank, you forced my hand: Mess up #1: Frank, (the owner?) who shared the Google doc estimate contract with me, despite the fact that I was not contacting the company with a Google account. Ok, inconvenient, but forgiven. I had to figure out a work-around to open it. Mess up #2: Laura first got the price wrong. Forgiven, but really unnerving. Mess up #3: Then Laura got the date wrong. Forgiven, but started making me question this company. Mess up #4: Movers showing up 2 hours later than the timeframe given to me. Mess up #5 And Maria giving me multiple inaccurate timeframes of when they would be arriving. I started to get the feeling that they would have not shown up without my constant pressure for a time frame. Mess up #6: The fact that I had to keep calling to ask Maria when the hell these guys were coming. No one ever made the attempt to call me to tell me they'd be late. The first contact was when i called them 20 minutes after the window they gave me had ended. This company should have kept me apprised of the situation when they knew that they could not come at the agreed upon time. Mess up #7: Jerry and his entire team not listening to any direction I gave and stacking things up nonsensically. I measured out the storage space and the furniture and boxes and had it down to a procedure of how it needed to be done. Did they listen? No, they did whatever the hell they wanted because it was late, which was their fault. Mess up #8: Jerry giving me his card for carpentry work and trying to promote himself when he can't even get his main job right. BONUS ROUND Afterward, talking to someone else who had a bad experience with this company who had Henry's team. They pretty much did the same thing to them as Jerry's team did to me with nonsense stacking into piles and not putting things where they were told to put them. Once this company moved their stuff to a new location, the people that hired them pretty much had to move everything inside the new location because these guys would not follow what they were told. So Frank, am I still confused or does this cover everyone? For a guy who used a different company, I sure seem to know a lot about your specific company, don't I? You guys got lucky that my first three choices were booked for the weekend of the move, but I saw all these reviews and thought it must be fine. Are you still denying the reality that this is your company? The only other moving company that pops up on the first page of a google search for Devon Moving Company is in Devon, PA, so I don't see how I could be confused. I went with Devon movers despite their reviews being all over the place only because they were the only people that weren't booked. Lesson learned. The Good: The actual guys themselves were good, very hard working people. They moved us from the top of a three flat to the top of a three flat- no easy task. They were very nice, and nothing was broken. I'm pretty sure all of our miseries can be blamed on the owner, who I believe never turns down a job- regardless of whether they can realistically complete it. The Bad: They showed up at 6:30pm to START moving our things rather than noon, as they had promised. No one called or answered our calls. Finally, after they were already 2 hours late, someone called to say they had been delayed and would be there in an hour...the next call blamed it on traffic...and so on. They did not finish moving our things until well after midnight. The Ugly: We had a 14 month old at the time. This generally doesn't make moving easy. When your movers show up at bed time to work through the night, it gets really ugly. Especially since they aren't the ones who get up with said baby. Ugh. Look elsewhere, or change your move date. And they damaged some items. But the worst part was that, even after I gave them a detailed list of my items, they brought a truck that was too small. I had to finish moving stuff myself. The second moving company (from Craigslist) was terrible. They had bad attitudes and complained about the schedule even though they were the ones who set the time. They damaged a lot of items, took a lot of breaks and, though they were cheap, they were not worth the cost. DEVON MOVING COMPANY BLEW THE OTHER MOVERS AWAY. He and the other guys laughed when I asked if Henry was a cage fighter on the side. Gotti & Twan were strong, handsome, silent types, fast and agile. They worked without stopping for even a minute. They were a team, and it was like they had a speed contest going or something. And, they took no issue with my adding a few items to the list, and were even friendly about it. All the guys were respectful and attentive to every single request. Nothing was broken, and they finished moving us in half the time the other companies did. Even more amazing? I coordinated a move for my boss and our company's office/condo in Chicago. I live in Arizona. I have to admit these guys weren't my first pick from Yelp. There are others advertising that showed up first and others who had a higher rating that I went with. When not from an area and trying to coordinate from a far, that's how I based my decisions. Not only was the service fast and friendly, these guys were the only moving company able and willing to work on the dates and times we needed. Everywhere else tried to coordinate a different time or date which pissed me off cause it wasn't supposed to be about their timing, it was about me and my timing! I had a quote within an hour to pack and move the condo and constantly had emails patiently answering my questions and concerns and phone calls to reassure everything would get done in time, on time and the way I needed it. The morning of, the guys called me and my boss who was in Chicago...unfortunately It was 5 am here but whatever. My boss said at first he got a bit nervous because the truck that came seemed like it was hand painted and 3 younger guys were there for the move. Well, that impression was immediately ignored because the guys came in and did the job extremely fast...4 hours fast people! We didn't have a ton of stuff there but still, its nice that the guys were down to business and got everything done before the schedule. Apparently my boss wanted to buy the guys lunch because they were so ahead of schedule and we didn't have the elevator for a little bit but the guys just wanted to continue working and getting everything done and the building allowed them to. Moving in itself is nerve-wrecking, with so many moving pieces and things to do. These guys not only performed as promised, but made the physical move hassle free and make it look easy while doing so. They originally gave me a window of 2-4 PM, but showed up promptly at 2. The movers themselves were polite, and hard working. They worked quickly, yet safely, despite being paid by the hour. While packing the items up, they delicately wrapped everything up in protective blankets and plastic wrap to ensure safe transit. I used this moving company in May of 2021 and I'm sorry for the delay in writing this. I've used many movers over the years and never again will I go anywhere else. Frank, the owner, was a pleasure to communicate with throughout the process. On the day of the move, he showed up and even brought a second truck as this was a multi state move (some things going to Wilmette and the others items going to Michigan City Indiana). He along with his staff were professional and hardworking. Frank truly went the extra mile not only through the process but on the moving day! Communications were always returned timely. Moving from Chicago to Boston was stressful and Devon's helped relieve one of the stressors. On moving day, they did a great job packing everything and were able to complete the move-out within the designated window I had reserved for the elevator. It was great to be able to focus on other stuff while all my possessions were being taken care of. They also were able to dispose of some larger items the I couldn't take with me but also my building wouldn't dispose of for free. I had a few issues with the building I was moving in to, mostly about insurance coverage but Devon's was able to accommodate every request and did so in an amazingly timely fashion. Just had another great experience using Devon Movers. I coordinated with Frank the details of my move (so many annoying factors on my end, elevator hold, person to coordinate the move on the condo end etc.) and Frank was amazing. He was patient and worked with me every step of the way. Devon moved a mattress set and a bike from downtown to the suburbs. He told me the movers would get to the city at 11, and they were in the burbs by 11:45. Seriously, it was ridiculously fast. The mattress wouldn't fit in the hallway and instead of leaving it on the floor and moving on, they thought it would fit through the window. The window!!!! Not only did the pop the window out, and get it in, but did so without grumbling, complaining, or saying it would cost more money. I can't say enough about how much these guys are great to work with. When he offered me the standard rate ($64/hour for 2 men + a truck) and I said that I was hoping for a better rate, given that we do not require any equipment, he literally hung up on me without saying another word. I called and made a reservation for a 9am move, the scheduled mover never showed up. I called their office multiple times, and finally, at 11am, one of the guys showed up. Other than the schedule issue, the movers were great. Our moving experience was great. Henry, Francisco, Missa, and Albert were great in moving our furniture from the city to the suburbs in a timely fashion. This includes a 3 story move with NO elevator. There was no damage to our furniture and extra safety precautions were taken (wrapping of our sofa so no damage would occur). This was my first moving experience in the US, and thanks to the guys at Devon moving it went smoother than the best case scenario I had imagined. The guys (Juan, Hugo and Aruto) were extremely professional, courteous, polite and super-super fast. First of all, the rates are very reasonable - $90/hr for 3 people. The booking process was simple and the main office followed up with me regularly. On the day of the move, the guys were late by about an hour or so (mostly because of traffic) but once they were at my place, they did not waste a second. As requested, they extra care of my expensive furniture (a plush leather couch and a fancy bed). We were basically done in 3 hours. All in all, a hassle free experience. I would definitely consider Devon Moving company for my next move and I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to move in the Chicago area. read more

Yup, as good as it gets! Angel and his team did a SPECTACULAR job on our 7/1 move. We used them to move from our 1st floor to 3rd floor (with no elevator... yikes). They showed up at 9am on the dot, ready to get to work. They had everything moved out and loaded into the truck within 90 minutes. Boom! When we got to our new apartment, we did a quick walk through and they started moving everything in. Not only were we moving to the third floor, it was an extremely hot day. Not ONCE did I hear any of them complain. They truly didn't even take any breaks (although, I felt so bad, I wish they had!), and had everything moved in by 12:30. Three and a half hours and we were moved into our new apartment. Everything was in the right room, making it super easy for us to start unpacking. Also, nothing was broken! Nada! Zilch! I can't even rave about how impressive and amazing that is. We won't be moving until at least two more years, but I will 100% be referring them to friends. Thanks for all of your hard work, guys! Friends recommended Devon Moving to us, and we're very grateful to them for it. I scheduled the move with Alex, and as promised, he called me to confirm the day before the move. On moving day, everything went perfectly, without a hitch--and we all know how many things can go wrong with a move! Tony and his crew were fantastic--professional, friendly, and super-careful with our stuff. They had a tough job moving us out of a third-floor walk-up (via a tight, winding deck staircase) and into a second-floor walk-up, but they did it very quickly and with good humor. The price was incredibly reasonable--much less than what we paid Midway Moving six years ago. We would use Devon again in a heartbeat! read more
