It's a cramped space and service is all about just getting it done but oh my....when you crack that Styrofoam open, you'll realize you just got a ticket to heaven for about $7! My omelette was PACKED full of bacon, cheese, veggies and no joke, the thickness of lasagna. Seriously, it was huge. Hands down best grits I've ever had. Clounds of creamy, slightly salty, delishiousness, swimming in a golden pool of butter. (Not margarine BUTTER) Grilled italian bread with more butter finished it off. Found out about this place on reddit and immediately had to try it. Stopped in at the counter, was greeted by the owner himself, and treated me like he had known me forever. Very nice man, we had a nice chat while I was waiting for my fried catfish Po Boy. People here complain about the service, and yes it did take awhile for my food to come out, but I wasn't in a hurry and didn't mind. I took the carryout bag to the dining room which is next to the counter/kitchen. Sandwich was HUGE and piping out. Some of the best fried catfish I've ever had. After bae made fun of me for eating box jambalaya decided I had to find a good creole spot in Columbus. I'm a Houston transplant so was lucky to have some great creole while there and of course the occasional trip the NOLA. We tried the shrimp po boy, seafood jambalaya and a side of gumbo. Went to Creole Kitchen with family for breakfast on recommendation. I'm so sorry I went and subjected my family to such a poor experience. First, I'll say that my family has breakfast meet-ups all of the time and with all of the places we've been, we've never experienced such terrible service AND food. Overall ambiance: It's okay. The inside is colorful and they try to make it happy with the whole creole/NOLA theme. The drawback is the loiterers and panhandlers in the strip mall where they're located. I'll note that we experienced the sit-down side of the restaurant since we had a large group, but they do have a carry-out side which is separate customer access. Service: With a few of us having arrived at about 9 AM, things started out okay. The waitress was friendly and warm. We ordered the requisite coffees, drinks, etc. and waited for others to arrive. When our group started to get larger, that is where the problems began. It was painfully obvious that they are used to having no more than a couple of folks in this restaurant at a time; however, that is ZERO excuse for poorly trained wait staff and terribly executed services. You're a restaurant. You can't expect that it's always going to be slow. You never know when you're going to have a group. Get it together. The waitress, while her attitude stayed consistently great (definitely a plus and the ONLY reason I tipped at all), did horribly. She never came to check on us or refill drinks/coffees unless called over to the tables. A different, shorter and older lady started out taking food orders. She took one table's order then promptly disappeared. Then, the young girl came back, taking orders. She obviously, had not been trained on how to keep orders together by table. By the time we all finished ordering, it is now around 10:15 AM. Crazy. After waiting about an hour for our food, few people were satisfied. The waitress brought out food sporadically. She had no idea which tables which plates of food belonged to and kept calling out orders and confusing things. Ridiculous. To add insult to injury, when we were finished, we had to go to a counter to pay instead of getting table service for our checks. The older lady got really rude toward the end which was comical, since she should have been glad we didn't walk out. By the time this nightmare ended it was NOON. Yes. We were there for 3 DARN HOURS. Food: The beignets were just okay. They were small pieces and way over-powdered, but still tasted pretty good. That's where it stopped. So, I'll say we ordered coffee and were asked what kind of creamer we wanted. One of the people at my table asked if it was non-dairy and the waitress didn't know. She then brings out entire containers-full of powdered, fake, non-dairy creamer in Kroger containers. No ... don't do that crap. Off-putting. Water was gross--no filter and straight from a tap. Grits were inconsistent. One person said they were good, a few others turned their noses up at a plop of mess. I sent my entire plate back. The pancakes were flat and greasy. It is not difficult to make a pancake--most 8 year-olds can do this, no problem. My eggs had a green tint to them because they were not scrambled but sitting in a pan to just cook and were probably not fresh. They claim they have turkey sausage, but one person said she literally spit it out since it tasted like hamburger. No way that was turkey. Gross. In conclusion, I definitely try my hardest to support local joints, including women and minority owned places, but I will never be able to support this mess. read more

The most friendly people work here! The food is delicious! I am a vegetarian and they have a vegetarian po boy sandwich but I just had a sandwich for lunch, so Chef Junior was happy to accommodate, he whipped up a rice and veggie et touffe dish for me. The food here is as close to New Orleans as I have found, and I'm very picky about good creole food, travelling to New Orleans at least twice a year. I usually get the gumbo and the shrimp po' boy. For the po' boy to me a little more authentic, it should be served on a french bread, rather than a sub bun, but still very good. The only negative thing is that it is in the safest part of town, and there is little to no seating indoors. I know they are working on adding an indoor seating area. read more

We went here based on the Yelp reviews. Let me start by warning you, to put it nicely, that this place is in desperate need of urban renewal. A crack whore and her pimp were walking down the road, there were drug deals going on in broad daylight, menacing looking groups of people hanging around everywhere (white, black, Spanish) this is not a race thing. The white woman in the car next to me asked for cigarettes and money from us. Anyway, if the food was excellent, maybe I would venture here but the food was just not good. I had blackened chicken. It was tasteless, was not blackened or even seasoned and was sitting in a pool of tomato tasting water. I'm not into tasteless waterlogged chicken. The dirty rice is made with chicken livers instead of sausage so I didn't get it but got the "cajun rice" which was spicy in an almost good way. I got the potatoes which were also borderline okay. The place itself looked like it should be condemned it was so dirty and run down. The woman who helped us was not the least bit friendly but sold us food out of what seemed like obligation. They have a Toni Po-boy which I ordered the guy told me I would need a nap after eating it and he wasn't kidding the sandwich was huge. I've been to this neighborhood place several times when I lived in the area because they were open and there. Reality is that the food is horrible. They are always out of stuff, today it was chicken wings. The fried oysters are marble sized and the cornmeal breading is always burned. The fish is usually burned as well and it seems to me it's due to the oil in the deep fryer is burned. That leaves me to believe that it's old and not changed often. Anyone that goes to the restaurants website is in for a rude awaking when they see the condition of the restaurant itself. An absolute shining gem in a very hidden neighborhood. Hard to find (from Mt Vernon, looking at the plaza, last unit on the right), but well worth the search. Delicious po boy subs, the catfish portion on my sandwich was as big as my head. I also got a side of mac and cheese that was on par with any high class restaurant. This summarizes what it's all about, good food, with little cares for the shop. The chef here knows that he doesn't need to advertise, or even put up a marquee on the store. This place is so yummmmmy!!!! I ordered my order ahead because I'm a piglet and I need instant gratification. I ordered the crawfish etouffee and jerk chicken wings. I had mac n cheese and collard greens as my sides. When I finally got back to my hotel room (i'm traveling for work) and in the safety of my room without any judgements I proceeded to scarf down what was the best meal I've had on this trip to Ohio. The crawfish and brown sauce was so good it hurt to throw the container away. The mac n cheese was perfect and the collard greens was perfect with the spicy crawfish. ( I got a heat of 5 which was spicy, but not so much that you couldn't taste what you are eating) The jerk wings were in jerk sauce and I prefer dry rub wings, but they were still tasty and full of flavor. When I miss NOLA, and I do ALOT, I fill my belly with Crawfish Ettouffe or something equally authentic legit and the ONLY place to get fill your heart/soul/spirit with food full of love in every bite in all of Franklin County Ohio and possible further. They are SO successful where they are located, it's part of who they are, I really wish they could branch out to a 2nd location as well one day, as I am not comfortable going one my own for carry out at night. I do believe they serve the community well where they are and a great business like this is a catalyst to positive change for the whole community. In mid April my boyfriend and I went to New Orleans and came back here with a hankering for creole food. We decided to eat here, after having read a review that convinced me to try it instead of Da Levee. I was so happy that I did give it a chance. I ordered the shrimp po boy, which was far better than the one I had in New Orleans, and my boyfriend had the gator, which was equally delicious (don't knock it 'til you've tried it). I think it's only available at certain times, but I nearly cried eating it, it was so good! (And this was after waiting a while too, the chef was incredibly busy that morning.) We finally found some excellent Cajun/Creole food in Ohio! We lived in New a Orleans for three years and this is pretty darn close to the food. We had seafood gumbo which was delicious, then seafood jambalaya and crawfish etoufee. All were great! You can choose the level of boom (spice) you like 1-5. Ordered online for lunch and time was changed and then arrived and they didn't have my order - meaning they were not paying attention to their online orders and made me wait another 10 minutes for jambalaya. When we drove from Polaris down here for lunch on the advice of one of my co-workers, you knew we really wanted something authentic. On this my first visit I had Jerk Wings and an order of Seafood Fettuccine. Yeah - what was I thinking. . I could have been full alone off of the jerk wings. A crazy amount of food was given to me and it was some of the best eating I have had in a long time. You can vary how spicy you want your food - which I like. Everything was cooked to order and I did not mind the wait. My cat at work stops there and gets breakfast now and then which means I get to hate on him the entire morning. Amazing Po'boys. Not sure how authentic they are, but who cares? Probably one of the best sandwiches I've had in Columbus; and you can't beat the value. One sandwich lasted me like 4 meals for just ten bucks! The rest of the menu looks solid too but I have yet to try. I'm definitely going back though.
