    Lover's Half and Half

Went to Long Beach on a nice Sunday afternoon. Was looking for a unique place to eat in the area. The one that stuck out is Crack! It's located at the Golf Course in a nice and secluded area with a balcony for dogs if you got one. They had full pictures of their entire menu, we ended up getting their Lovers special, split of the top two burgers in half: one with a bacon jam and one more of a classic bacon cheese lettuce style. They made it on a charbroiled grill right next to us. Got sides of pineapple cole slaw and chicken bean soup. Everything was quality and fresh, better than manybof the other options nearby that I've already eaten out at. For a good burger joint and a nice place to relax for a bit, try out Crack! I'll be back eventually.

This spot never misses. I love burgers and somehow this place feels like I'm dining for the first time each time as the burger is always as good as I remember (if not better) and I don't get tired of ordering the bacon jam over and over again lol. The owner usually is the one cooking the burgers as I've experienced in the past on the outside grill. It's connected to a golf course too if that's a hobby you enjoy. Service fast and price reasonable for one of the best burgers in SoCal if not worldwide. Lots of golf art and some merch to buy like golf balls in the connected store

This burger joint is directly connected to the Bixby Village golf course. Their menu is very simple and has mostly burgers. They'll ask you if you want a side but they're actually $3 each so be mindful of that. They also come in a small plastic almost Costco size sample cup, wish the portions were a bit bigger since it's an additional add to the meal. They specialize in the bacon jam burgers, they make each burger on the outdoor grill so it takes longer for them to make. For the price point of $15-$16 per burger, I would've expected it to be much larger in size. You also order at the counter, and the tab doesn't get closed till later which is a bit odd and confusing on whose order gets out first if you are ordering in a larger groups.

I've been going around town looking for the best burgers. Crack is located right off the golf course and you make your order at the small restaurant at the pro shop. I ordered the Ortega and the Bacon Jam. I went to the patio to chill at the tables and look at the golf course while they go my burgers going on the flat top. I got my food in less than 10 minutes. The Ortega was flavorful, but the Bacon Jam got me. I'll be ordering this one next time I'm in the area. To compliment my burger, I got a potato salad. On the small side, but it's solid too.

Started with the corn salad, which was fresh and had a great thousand island type of dressing. The white bean chicken chili was hardy, warm and delicious. The downside is they came in these very small containers, and it was a little awkward to eat. Tried the Dirty and Bacon Jam burger; the flavor profiles were very similar and tasted the same. Tried the beef on its own and it didn't have much seasoning. The flavor was fair and okay. Ordered the root beer on tap; it was okay, felt like it could have had a stronger licorice taste. However, that might not be the restaurant's fault. The service was amazing! They were friendly and gave us a little cookie at the end of our meal. The parking lot is small, but we managed to find parking quickly on a sunday afternoon. Small cozy restaurant.

My coworker turned heads at work today when he said he wanted a Crack Burger, so we decided to stop by for lunch on a weekday. This place serves really amazing smash burgers that were incredibly delicious. Location: This green-and-white burger stop is located right between the golf courses at Bixby Village. It does not have large signage and is independently owned. Parking: Free parking is available in the lot next to the restaurant. The lot is a bit uneven and bumpy in some areas. Service: The staff were very friendly to our group, especially when we walked in looking a bit confused because of the lack of signage outside. They explained the menu, gave recommendations, and made our food right away. We got to enjoy the nice patio view of the golf course, with the smell of patties searing on the grill wafting through the air. Food: Amazing! We tried three burgers as a combo: The Dirty, Bacon Jam, and Ortega. Each burger was cooked outside on their patio grill overlooking the golf course and came out super juicy and flavorful. The Bacon Jam was a fan favorite. The lettuce paired really well with the smash burger and sauces. We also tried the white bean chili and macaroni salad. While those were good, the burgers were definitely the main highlight. They also have excellent root beer on tap, poured into chilled glasses. Overall: I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area and want a burger that goes beyond typical fast food. It is a great spot with a nice view, quality food, and a very creative name.

It was a cool place right up, until the end. The person I'm assuming is the owner actually asked us to wait before placing our order because he was slammed. Understandable. So then, another guy took our order and also cooked the food. When we ordered, we didn't get any drinks, but he told us we could help ourselves to the fridge. I'm assuming because they were older, the soda can we had actually still had a Halloween ad on it and were in the month of December. We ended up not drinking anything but still had the can with us and when were ready to pay and leave. At checkout, the owner pointed out that we had a can. The guy ringing us up just stood there next to us without saying anything, so I tried to explain the situation. Unfortunately, the owner seemed to assume we were trying to steal and had already processed it, and he wasn't really listening as I was explaining what happened. The food itself was good, above average. I can see why they don't serve fries, since they'd probably take away from the burger experience. I recommend getting sliders so you can enjoy and separate the savory and sweet sauces. But it wasn't worth the price. Overall, not terrible, but that interaction left such a bad taste in my mouth that I won't be going back. I've never felt that embarrassed, especially with him not hearing me out and just clicking away on the tablet. Felt super inferior and stupid. And just a heads up, the tip defaults to 20% so be weary of that.

Crack Burger in Long Beach is the definition of a neighborhood gem, and after coming here 4 times now I can confidently say it's a consistent 5 star experience. A huge part of that is the owner Dave. Straight up stand up guy. He genuinely treats people with kindness and it shows every single visit. The first time I came with my girl he gave us root beer floats on the house. The second time he noticed my girl was cold and brought her a blanket plus hooked us up with some white bean chili also on the house. When I came with my dad Dave blessed us with a free brownies, and same thing when I came with my friend. That's not normal customer service anymore that's real hospitality. 10/10 on service every time and shoutout to Dave for always showing love to the people he's serving. The spot itself is super chill and laid back right on the golf course. You can eat inside but the patio is where it's at. Sitting outside watching the greens while you eat is such a vibe especially on a nice day. Now the food. You honestly can't go wrong with any burger here. I've had a few different ones and they've all been really good, it just depends on what you're in the mood for. Today I went with the Ortega and it hit the spot. I paired it with the potato salad and the white bean chili. Both were good, but that white bean chili is GREAT especially when it's cold out. Add a lager with it and it's the perfect afternoon meal. No complaints at all. If you haven't tried Crack Burger yet do yourself a favor and go. You'll leave happy and you'll probably be planning your next visit before you even finish your food.

    The Long Beach Burger Passport!

Hi All,' The Hubbie and I tried another burger place from our Long Beach Burger Passport. Today, we went to Crack in Long Beach. It's located at the Bixby Village Golf Course. Those darn golfers always seem to keep the best burgers a secret. But, no more. The Hubs and I both had the recommended Bacon Jam Burger. OOO La La! The bacon jam had a hint of sweet, caramelized onions and bacon, with cheese and a generous slab of beefsteak tomato to make this burger complete. They cook it up for you on an outdoor BBQ on the deck overlooking the fairways. They close at 6pm on Sundays, so we were just in time for a picturesque sunset as we finished our meal. The service was fast and friendly. This is a perfectly no frills dining experience which golfers typically like. The only downside I can mention is that they do not offer french fries. Too bad because as I ate the Bacon Jam Burger, I couldn't help but imagine, steak fries covered in bacon jam, cheese and pico de gallo for "golfer's nachos." But that's just me. I would definitely stop to pick up a couple burgers to go on my way home from work. The link below is an article the Hubs read before we left the house. Great story! Great burgers. It made the $20 I paid for the Long Beach Burger Passport worth the money. Give it a try! https://la.eater.com/2022/5/12/23068809/long-beach-hot-new-hidden-burger-crack-golf-course-bixby-village-los-angeles

Talk about finding a hidden treasure inside the Bixby Estates. If you are looking for great food with a relaxing atmosphere that is dog friendly, and overlooking the golf club estates, then Crack burger is the spot. The owner David was the funniest, and helped guided us through his menu. He even went out of his way to make a few things that weren't on the menu for that day. We ended up getting the dirty and bacon jam burger, with crispy potato salad, pineapple coleslaw, and elote grilled corn on the cob with free banana pudding!!!! Delicious Food, Top tier Service with a relaxing atmosphere will definitely be my go to when I'm in the area.

I found this place off Reddit. I've been coming here for 3 years now, and it's been my favorite burger spot in since. The food here is great. Prepared right in front of you and served straight from the grill. The people here work hard and the food reflects that. There is nothing better than coming here on a beautiful day, sitting outside, getting served a fresh burger on butter buns with an ice cold beer! 12/10 *Don't forget to order the sides! *free parking outside *clean

    Bacon Jam
    Steven L.

In Long Beach for a festival and was a bit malnourished after day 1 so we were craving some hearty burgers. Did some quick research and found that Crack was one of the top burger choices. Arrived in the middle of the suburbs at a golf course to find a small burger shop inside. They have indoor and outdoors seating viewing the golf course and they grill on a flattop outside. Had to try their bacon jam since it was what they were known for and was not disappointed in the end. I also ordered a side of potato salad that was quite nice and refreshing to contrast the burger. The burger itself was very juicy, cooked perfectly, with a little bit of mayo at the bottom to prevent it from being too rich. I enjoyed the bacon jam, but found it a little too sweet for my tastes overall. All in all, it was an amazing burger, I think I would've preferred just a little less bacon jam or something spicy to cut into the sweetness.

10/10000000 l!! Absolutely loved the burger, its inside a golf store basically and has only like 3 tables but so worth it. Can't even tell you about the service because it was some of the best. We got this chicken chili soup of the day and GAS! Definitely recommend & i'll definitely be back some of the best burgers I've had!

The bread was toasty and the Manx n cheese paired nicely with the sweet and savory pork. The onion straws were perfect for texture. Very good very rich, we should've opted for slaw on the side, but the fries were delicious. I had the grilled cheese and homemade tomato basil bisque soup. That was so darn delicious! The soup is VERY mild in flavor but nice. The cheese to bread ratio was spot on, the bread was toasted perfectly. I ate it by both dipping in the soup and on their own. He got a margarita as his drink so he got a great deal. The burger was a little small but he ate the other half of my giant sandwich so it worked out. The meatloaf sandwich had a delicious crispy sourdough bread with a lot of melted cheese. I added some ranch as I thought it was a bit dry but overall it was good. It came with a big helping of fries as well and I got the garlic fries. They were very garlicky but so good with the ranch. My parents got the Cobb salad and the turkey pop pie. My mom didn't love the pop pie, I think because it wasn't really a pie- just a dish with biscuits on top but the Cobb salad was really hearty with a lot of toppings and it filled them up plenty. Bristy, our server, thoroughly explained the details of certain dishes such as the Mac & Cheetos. She also checked in on our table throughout the meal and came around often to refill our water. As for the food itself, it was very delicious. My favorite dish was the artichokes. They had a somewhat smoky flavor and the outermost leaves were crunchy and a nice contrast to the soft inside of the artichokes. They were also served in a tangy sauce that complimented the vegetable well. My friend's favorite item was the macaroni and cheese. It was chewy and creamy, and the pasta, which Bristy informed us was made in-house, was what my friend thought elevated the dish because it was a nice texture. We additionally ordered the gumbo which was also tasty but not as yummy as the other two dishes that we ordered. It is not a spicy dish if one is concerned about spice level. As for the ambiance of the restaurant, we enjoyed how the atmosphere felt casual and almost like you were sitting in somebody's house (the wallpaper and interior design is pretty) while still maintaining an elegant aesthetic design. If I was in the area, I would return to The Attic for dinner. My friend and I had a very welcoming and positive experience in terms of the service and food respectively at this establishment.

There is inside seating what looks like a converted house? There is outside seating at tables or at the bar. The menu was interesting which had a theme of shrimp; there was eggs Benedict with shrimp, but not an item to order a regular one without it? Sure maybe could have ordered and asked without shrimp but pay the same price? Pass. Ok when I called they mentioned they serve brunch until 3? 3:30 I can't remember. The server mentioned they serve the brunch all day? Either way when I got to ordering this month on the menu it highlighted the shrimp po boy. I tried to order and nope, out. How can you be out of the item highlighted as the special in the middle of the day? When the place is not packed? I tried to order the lobster roll and again, out. I was tempted to order their short rib poutine since in theory it sounded good, but at this point I tried something simple I would hope they have in the kitchen chicken and waffles. The plate came and it looks good. If you look at the picture at the bottom of the chicken you can see a dark something. As I lift my chicken I found a huge burnt piece of breading pictured next. On top of the chicken is green onion I think? Who eats that with chicken and waffles? If I am wrong, a garnish is totally unnecessary for this dish. The chicken was moist. There are spices in the flour breading I can see but hard to taste what it is. The waffle is a hard pass for me. The waffle was crispy which is good, but also thin and dry and I couldn't taste any sweetness until I put maple syrup on it. The syrup came out warm which was nice. It's clear watching the people at the bar this is a local hangout. The chicken and waffles were $19 which if I was in the bay I think it's about right, but I think a little high considering the level of food I got. Supposedly this place is packed specifically on Sundays. The server doesn't know why? I'm not interested to even try to come back for a second chance and just be told sold out of the menu.

I love Portabello mushrooms, caramelized onions, and Persian cucumbers, so when I read that on the menu, I knew I had to order this, and I am not disappointed! This hit the spot. The smash patty topped with my favorites made for a perfect burger filling party. -the Don Chendo burger- the salsa Don Chendo on a jalapeño-Cheddar bun - culinary innovation at its finest! For non-spicy eaters like myself, you can eat this. This is definitely tolerable spice with a delicious flavor that overrules any "heat". The buttery, softness of the bun with the cheddar and jalapenos melted into it compliment the flavors of the patty, red onions and Chendo sauce. Having a burger is a rare craving for us, and thankfully our taste buds led us here this time that we did, because we were left, not only satisfied, but can safely say that this is one of the fewest Exceptional burgers we have tried thus far. Burgers are huge too! You def get more bang for your buck here. Staff was very welcoming, friendly and attentive toward us. We truly appreciated the warm greeting and them making sure we felt comfortable with their product deliveries coming in/out of the restaurant while we ate. Not too big & not too small of a place. Ample seating booths make for a comfy social occasion. We highly recommend to All! & will return again!

Sideburns is a true hidden gem in Long Beach; conveniently located right next to The Stache Bar…read more I originally came for the Vegan Breakfast Burrito; and it absolutely delivered. Refried beans; crispy tots; vegan cheese; avocado; mushrooms -- hearty; filling; and layered properly. But what really makes this burrito stand out are the house-made sauces. The salsa has the perfect heat; and their vegan dipping sauce elevates the entire experience. You can taste the intention. Now let's talk about the burger. The vegan burger is not an afterthought here. It's juicy; well-seasoned; and balanced. The texture is on point; the toppings are fresh; and it holds its structure without falling apart. You can tell they care about execution. Between the house-made sauces; the fusion flavor profile; and the consistency across both items; Sideburns earns its spot. If you're in Long Beach and want vegan comfort food done right; this is absolutely worth pulling up to.

The way it works is you order first, then wait for them to seat you once a table opens up. It was super busy, so there was a bit of standing around while waiting for a table. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of that setup, but honestly...the food made it completely worth it. What we ordered: * Almond croissant * Ube cruffin * Lemon ricotta pancakes * Breakfast burrito with bacon * Side of potatoes * Strawberry pistachio matcha * Cinnagave shaken espresso Everything was absolutely incredible. I'm seriously craving it again while writing this The food was amazing, and the drinks were next-level good. The café itself is adorable, with both indoor and outdoor seating options. Also, shoutout to the sweet woman with the star clips in her hair! She was so friendly, and my niece loved that she complimented the Jigglypuff on her water bottle. I'll definitely be coming back. This place truly doesn't miss, and I highly recommend giving it a try!

First, a heads-up: parking in the area can be a bit of a challenge, so plan ahead and expect to look for street parking. That said, once you arrive, everything runs impressively smoothly. You'll stand in line to place your order at the register, and then they'll seat you. There are two seating options, an indoor patio and an outdoor patio; both with a really cute, inviting vibe. What really stood out was the thoughtful Mother's Day touch. While we were in line, they offered champagne and gave out roses, white for mothers who are no longer with us and red for those who are. Such a beautiful and meaningful gesture. Once seated, drinks came out quickly, and the food followed shortly after. I was genuinely impressed with how efficient and well-organized everything was, especially given how busy it was. For food, I ordered the Dutch Baby, and my companion had the Bailey's Breakfast, both were delicious and well-prepared. Between the great food, charming decor, and amazing service, this place really delivered. I'll definitely be back.

If you're looking for a solid Thai spot in Long Beach, this has become one of our family's feel…read moregood go to places. Every dish we've tried has been full of flavor and genuinely worth ordering. Surprisingly, compared to other Thai spots, it's usually not overly packed and honestly I'm almost scared to say that because I don't want it to change. The service has always been great, the food comes out quickly, and the portions/prices feel reasonable. So far, our favorites have been the pad see ew, tom yum soup (medium spice), egg fried rice, fried calamari and the beef BBQ which was so good we immediately ordered a second plate. The mango sticky rice is also really good, but the portion is on the smaller side, so we ended up getting two orders since one plate is hard to share with more than 2-3 people. Parking has been easy for us so far since there's both a parking lot and nearby street parking. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants that's officially in our regular rotation.

KIN Thai Cuisine in Long Beach off Broadway is a really solid spot…read more Parking is available, but it is limited, so just keep that in mind depending on the time you go. The restaurant itself is nice and clean, including the restrooms, which I always appreciate. The staff was very customer service oriented and did a great job making suggestions and giving tips about the menu and spice levels, which was super helpful. I started with the Money Bags, which are basically fried dumplings. Mine were a little overcooked, almost close to burnt. They still had decent flavor, but I'd personally rate them about a 2.9 out of 5. I also had the green papaya salad with mild spice, and the spice level was perfect, especially for people who are sensitive to heat. I usually stick around medium spice at Thai restaurants, but even the mild here still gives you a nice kick. For my drink, I got the Thai tea, which came topped with a Thai tea popsicle that slowly melted into the drink. Such a cute touch, creative, and tasty. For my entrée, I had the basil garlic sauce with sliced steak and a side of rice, which I really enjoyed. For dessert, we shared the mango sticky rice. It was good, but I do feel like it was a little overpriced for the portion size. Maybe part of that is because of the specialty rice they use that has the purple hue. I know a few places in Long Beach where you can get more for the same price. That said, the presentation was really cute with the flower garnish and everything looked beautiful. The atmosphere was nice. It has an open kitchen concept, so you can actually see the cooking happening, which adds to the experience. Seating is somewhat limited and the tables are fairly close together in certain sections, especially where the divider walls are, so you can definitely hear nearby conversations depending on where you sit. Great food, clean restaurant, and strong customer service. I'd definitely come back. Flavor Profile (for reference): Umami-forward (savory, salty depth) Acidic or bright (tangy + sour) Pungent and intense (spicy and bitter notes) Drink Preference (for reference): Bitter-forward cocktails Balanced acidity Light sweetness only, not overly sugary

I started with a cup of their beef and barley soup. My wife and I both make this at home from scratch and we're both impressed by theirs. My wife took a taste of mine and instantly ordered her own. Very rich and flavorful. I kept looking at photos of their take on chicken and waffles and knew I had to try it. Seriously epic and was good as it looked. They coated the chicken in a chili rub that gave it a sweet and spicy flavor when paired with their maple syrup. Served on top of a waffle and topped with an egg. I loved it and would probably order again on my next visit. My wife had the American plate which was your classic eggs, bacon, potatoes, and sourdough toast combo. High quality ingredients elevated it beyond your typical diner food. Drinks were great too. I had their house made bloody mary which had a nice kick to it. My wife had their brunch version of a Corpse Reviver cocktail. After our meals were done we finished with an Irish coffee since everyone was ordering them. Perfect service, relaxing atmosphere, and delicious food will definitely have me returning very soon! Parking is free for 2 hours at the nearby garage on 3rd and is a very short walk. The closer garage on Broadway is not free. You can make restaurant reservations on their website but it wasn't needed when we went.

Potato Chips Deli has officially been added to the sandwich rotation for me and my girlfriend after…read morethree visits and six different sandwiches so I feel pretty confident saying this is a solid 4 star spot for sandwich lovers in Long Beach. Between the two of us we've tried Tuna Sandwich - Definitely not your typical mayo heavy tuna. It was more herbaceous and light than creamy, which was a nice change of pace. If you like fresher, brighter tuna instead of rich and gloopy, this one is worth a try. Caprese - Super fresh and creamy and the ingredients themselves were on point. That said, it was missing a bit of seasoning a simple hit of salt, pepper, or some Italian seasoning would've taken it from "good" to "great." Turkey Sandwich - This was just a really good turkey sandwich. Simple, classic, and well executed. Definitely our #2 favorite so far. BLT - Our biggest miss. For such an iconic sandwich this version felt a little too basic and underwhelming compared to everything else we tried. Chicken Parm - A great option when you're in the mood for something hot and comforting. The sauce and cheese combo hit the spot and it was a fun switch up from the cold sandwiches. This lands at #3 on our list. Italian Sandwich - The star of the show. Perfect balance of flavor and acidity with all the right textures going on. This is hands down our #1 sandwich here and the one I'd recommend first if it's your first visit. On top of the sandwiches their chip selection is FIRE tons of fun options that make it feel like you're building a full snack experience not just grabbing a quick bite. The drink selection is solid too and I've got to give extra love for having sparkling apple juice as an option. Little things like that make it stand out. Service has been consistently chill and low key on all three visits nothing over the top but friendly enough and they get the job done. Overall as a sandwich stand Potato Chips Deli deliver good quality ingredient, a couple of standout sandwiches (get the Italian!), fun chip and drink choices, and casual no frills vibes. Still a little room for refinement (seasoning on some sandwiches, more exciting BLT), but we'll definitely keep coming back to work our way through the menu it's 4 stars from us.
