Large fries

This place feels like stepping into an old-school burger joint in the best way possible. No gimmicks, just burgers that know what they're doing. I ordered the George Foreman V burger with fries, and it delivered. Classic, juicy, with a twist in the chipotle sauce gave it a smoky kick that made it stand out without trying too hard. Great portions too which hit the spot because I showed up hungry! The service was fine. Not overly chatty, but honestly that kind of adds to the old-school vibe. This place isn't here to impress you with small talk, it's here to feed you well. If you want a legit burger with a little personality, this is your spot.

Gotta love a great local spot! Was in Long Beach to visit a friend and decided to stop by MVP's Grill & Patio. Was in the mood for a burger, so I went with The Fridge, which is a burger with pastrami and Swiss cheese. This was a legitimately great burger! Every burger comes with 1/3 lb patty, lettuce, tomato, Cajunaise dressing, and raw or grilled onions (I went with the grilled onions). You can definitely tell the quality of the burger is raised by the fresh ingredients and tasty meat. My friend ordered a Harry Careyclub Wins and a Jimmy Foxx. Had a bite of both and they were both great as well. Staff here are great, no complaints from me. Definitely a great spot for some casual eats! Would love to try some of the other items on the menu.

A long-standing staple for the community. I've gone here since high school, went through college (csulb) going here... absolutely must try. The burgers have been consistently good and well portioned for YEARS. They're generous with their sizes for their burgers and their fries (a full order of fries can feed 3-4 people easily). The prices have unfortunately continued to go up, but that's expected with inflation. I'd still recommend it despite the price. Service is as good as you'd expect for a burger stand. Good, but don't expect fine dining service. You're ordering at a window, keep that in mind. There is only outdoor seating, which can be brutal in extreme weather. Still worth it though. The ambiance gets loud because you're outside, near a car repair shop, and also near the airport so planes are going to continue to fly over. It's great! I recommend this spot for a chill, laidback local burger joint. It's been a staple for Long Beach locals for years and will continue to be.

Great neighborhood spot for hearty burgers & good vibes! MVP Grill & Patio in Long Beach is the place to hit up for decent burgers and sandwiches. I came here on a weekend afternoon and was not disappointed. The menu is huge -- all the burgers named after famous athletes, which is a fun touch. I went with the Christian Ronaldo sandwich and it was juicy, fresh, and cooked perfectly. The Burger was decent but I find it lack in seasoning. The portions are generous, especially the fries -- you won't leave hungry! Their fries are crispy and seasoned just right, and the patio seating is laid-back and perfect for people-watching or hanging out with friends. Staff was friendly and the food came out fast even though they were pretty busy. Parking can be a little tight, but it's worth it once you get your food. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and want a chill spot for a burger, sandwich, or just to hang out.

First time here and I was desperately craving a good burrito that didn't cost me an arm and a leg. I happen to drive past MVP's Grill while heading to Trader Joe's and I stopped by hoping they'd have a burrito. I went in blind not knowing what they served and I ordered the Jorge Campos burrito with no beans. Omg it was absolutely delicious and the asada was nice and tender and great flavors. I look forward to going back and trying their breakfast burrito next!

TACO

The taco was disappointing, didn't have a good taste to it. Tortilla was also dry and stale. Didn't like how I ate there and had to pay for a new drink for a refill on the fountain drink. I don't enjoy the customer service at all MVP lost my respect as a loyal customer. I have been supporting MVP since they opened on 4th street many years ago.

Always a great experience whenever I'm here at MVP's! Absolutely one of my fav spots/locations in town to get a good fixin. I typically phone in my order to save some time & the service is always a plus! Staff are usually friendly & informative. Speaking from my personal experiences, the food always comes out fresh, delicious & most importantly, consistent! They also have a wide variety of sandwiches & burgers + more to choose from. My usual order is the Vitale sammy on toasted sourdough bread with a half order of their Cajun fries! More than enough for two people to share or for one verrrry hungry human lol *don't forget to add a side of their Cajunnaise sauce!* Cajun seasoning + mayo? so amazing! So if you're looking for a new place to try, I highly recommend MVP's! Bring the crew & fam! :)

Mary Lou Retton sandwich

Came here because the restaurant I was headed to was closed. Searched on yelp what else was around the area and came up with this location that used to be a tasty freeze back in the old days. I was definitely surprised, will definitely go back and I had the Mary Lou Retton sandwich which was out of this world.

Decent cheeseburgers with a classic cookout taste. I came here and got their cheeseburger (I forgot which one it was on the menu as it's extensive) and their chili fries. The chili fries were ok they weren't exactly chili fries it was just beans and ground beef. Was dry but still enjoyed. The cheeseburger however was very good thick angus patties and felt comforting. This seems to be a local favorite if you grew up here and I can see why. Thank you! 7.7 mukbang up on @maarrjack for more

Recently stopped by Beach City Deli & BBQ after seeing recommendations online and decided to order…read morethe Big Kahuna. Honestly, one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. The pineapple added to what's basically a Cuban style sandwich sounds different at first, but it works perfectly. The balance of sweet, savory, crispy, and smoky was spot on. Everything tasted super fresh and the bread held everything together perfectly without getting soggy. My original plan was to eat half and save the rest for later... yeah, that didn't happen. Ended up finishing the whole thing because it was that good. Service was friendly, food came out quick, and the whole spot had a really chill local vibe. Definitely a hidden gem if you're in the area. Highly recommend this place and I'll for sure be back to try more off the menu.

But, I understand. That particular sandwich is loaded with 6 kinds of meat. The contingency sandwich became the Big Bucky, w/ the choice of 3 meats. Soppressata, mortadella, bacon, extra onions, pickles & tomatoes. A satisfying, filling sub sandwich that made for a pleasurable lunch. A nominal wait, the meat were freshly sliced, and assembling the sandwich with plump & crisp vegetables, it was worth every minute of delay. The cashier was friendly & a pleasure to deal with, too.

I tried the Torpedo sandwich, and while it was good, I realized I personally prefer hot sandwiches over cold ones so for me, the food was just okay this time. That said, I'd definitely be open to coming back and trying other items on the menu. The ambience is pretty quiet since most people seem to grab their food to go rather than dine in. It's more of a quick stop spot than a place to hang out. Overall, a solid place to check out if you're in the 2nd Street area, especially with the great service.

The server (owner?) asked if we wanted cheese and Cole slaw, and that's how we got it. The sandwich was big enough to share so if the sandwich seems pricey, consider sharing. Although on a hungry day, I could probably eat it all with no problem. Dilly's has a fairly decent amount of craft beers on draft. I wasn't in a beer-drinking mood so I didn't look too closely at the list. I love it when restaurants support local brewers, and this looks like the kind of place that would do just that.

Heard about Dilly's Sandwiches having the most unique rotating set of beers on tap in Long Beach,…read moreso had to come to try it. The taste portions were very reasonably priced, allowing to create your own flight (or two). Specifically scheduled an early afternoon to come to the Lakewood Village neighborhood of East Long Beach. My wife found an angled parking spot right in front. It wasn't too crowded inside and the four of us found easy, comfortable seating in the brightly decorated dining room. One places and pays for the order at the counter, with the proprietors being very friendly and engaged. They brought out our beers after the pour, and the sandwiches a bit after (since each is individually carefully made). Beers: - Northern Lager [Oxbow] - ($5 for 13oz pour) was clean, crisp and a hoppy aftertaste. - Infinite Hotel [The Wayfinder X Bierstadt] (marked as $3 but charged $4) is a rice lager and was the favorite of the group for its drinkability - Winteruption [JK's Farmhouse] ($3) is a cider with very strong maple syrup overtones: never tasted anything like it. - Hyper Paradise [Rare Barrel] ($4) - saison and ale with mango and passion fruit. I liked this beer very much. - A Place Like Home [Pure Project] ($3) - Nitro poured Extra Special Bitter. - Double Negative [Grimm] ($4) - Imperial Stout, which I really enjoyed. - Amongst Friends [Sante Adairius] ($4) - a cherry saison, unusual and was glad to sample. A lot of work was put into creating this flight, with the careful pours and markings to make sure I knew what was what. I really appreciated the opportunity to sample all of these on-tap. In terms of the food, the group as a whole really liked them, though I guess I wasn't as impressed with my two samples, mainly because it used non-descript deli meat in OK quantities, heating them up when necessary. Hot Beef ($18) was my wife's, and it had been griddled with cheese to form a crispy lattice. The Ham and Cheese ($16) was served cold and had potato chips inside which my mother-in-law liked (saving the other half for home). Our friend and I split the Hot Turkey ($16) and Pastrami No 19 style ($20). The pastrami meat was piled high and the cole slaw was crisp and good, but was served cold (should have read the description more closely) and mediocre rye bread broke apart quickly. The Hot Turkey ($16) was served on ciabatta that had been grill pressed for a long time, creating a wonderful crust as good as any sandwich I've had. But the filling was OK, using standard turkey breast slices from a loaf and an ok stuffing...using hand carved turkey would have made a big difference here, but understand it's hard to do. Strangely, even though it's a pickle adorned shop, each sandwich just came with an ordinary pickle spear, what one would expect from a diner, not a deli. And the prices are on the higher side, especially with no sides and most not being particularly ginormous. But I loved how each sandwich used different breads, and how some of them were toasted very well. And having the opportunity to try these unique beers made it a really good experience.

It's located in Bixby Knolls, surrounded by coffee shops, restaurants, bars and breweries, yet it's the only true wine bar right there. Honestly, Long Beach has more wine bars than most surrounding areas, and since the South Bay is packed with breweries, if you're tired of beer this is your sign to switch it up. You will not regret it. The food menu has cheese boards, salads and sandwiches, and everything I've had here has been delicious. The cheese boards are better than sex. There is seating indoors and outdoors. It's minimal, but somehow we always manage to find a table. The service is consistently great and the owner is wonderful.
