Grilled to perfection, somewhere between a medium and a medium rare. I love how the veggies are always super fresh as well. Crisp lettuce and firm tomatoes. The burger bun is fluffy. The fries have a Cajun salt on them and are fried to order. Cubby, fries and a drink for $15 is a steal in this economy. The ladies inside the hut are hardworking and welcoming. My husband and I are high school sweethearts. He picked me up from school one day promising to get me "the best burger in town." Lol you can imagine my surprise when we pulled into this little place in the gas station parking lot. We ordered our burgers, chips and sodas (that's all they had on the menu at the time) and sat down. That boy wasn't lying! Best burger in town. Apparently this place is iconic for anyone who grew up in Long Beach. It is a little hut located in a gas station. Don't let that fool you! A hamburger spot at a gas station must not be good. That is far from actual truth. It is AMAZING! The menu is pretty simple as you can see in the picture I added to this review. The burgers are delicious and very juicy. All ingredients put into the burger is fresh and crisp. But there fries!!!! OMG there fries are heaven sent. They are hot and ready to go. Seasoned with perfection and very yummy. I have been here more than once and I will say, it does get busy. I found the pricing to be very reasonable. I didn't try the cubby because I don't like my food mixed up like that. If I want a hamburger, I want a hamburger, if I want a hotdog, I want a hotdog. It looked good and I thought it was an interesting concept. It was reported to be quite delicious. The fries are the perfect size, seasoned well and stayed hot until I got to my destination. I really like the complementary chilies because they're small. I find bigger chilies to be tough and too hot. The service was very good and efficient. There seemed to be a lot of teamwork going on. This little hamburger stand, on the corner of Atlantic and Wardlow Road in Long Beach is iconic! Just pull into the service station on the corner, there are parking spots next to the picnic tables. It is a walk up window, where you place your order and pick up your freshly made sandwich. So the problem I have at this place is that their online menu does not match the menu that they have at their location. Their hours are pretty limited. The location is a gas station parking lot. Parking is limited and some low class people park their cars at a gas pump while they're waiting for their food, which is tacky, rude, and insensitive to others. Does this sound like the start of a good review? No, yet it is. Dave's is really good. It's normally crowded at lunch time. The two ladies working here are pleasant and they work fast. Juicy, tender, thick meat with all the fixings like lettuce, grilled onion, tomato and pickle on a sesame bun with their thousand island dressing. Dave's Burgers is one of the most underrated food places I have ever been to. It's a small little shack, tucked away off the parking lot corner of a 76 gas station, in Long Beach. It's owned and operated by a Vietnamese family. I've tried almost everything on the menu, from here, over the past few years. My #1 from here is the patty melt. The patty melt is a thick quality beef patty, inside rye bread, with tomatoes and grilled onions. My #2 is the turkey burger. The patty melt and turkey burger from here are the very best you can find in my opinion. The fries from here are also one of my favorites. They're thick-cut steak fries--think fries from Tommy Burgers or Red Robin--always perfectly cooked, with a slight dust of seasoning. When I visit Long Beach, about half the time I make a stop at Dave's Burgers. One drawback is the sometimes tricky parking situation, especially during mealtimes. The other drawback is there's only about five or six tables (outdoor seating only), though it's dog-friendly. read more

My coworkers wanted burgers, and we were trying to decide between In-N-Out and Five Guys when someone suggested Dave's. I've never tried Dave's, but multiple people started raving, so we chose Dave's for lunch. The only thing is that they don't take any orders ahead by phone or online. You have to go in, place your order and wait for the food to be done. Went here on a Friday. I went around 10:30am since our lunch is at 11am. There were 2 guys eating their burgers at the tables out front. 1 guy was placing his order when I got there. Seeing people eating there early in the morning made me know this was a good spot to try. I placed my order right after the guy, and luckily, it was easy getting everyone's orders in since some were specialty orders with omissions and substitutions and extras in their burgers. I went to grab the drinks in the cooler while they were preparing the fries and the burgers. There were a lot of different options for drinks. I think they probably get different sodas each time since the pictures I saw from Yelp didn't show all the same drinks. Would definitely recommend for the burgers. They were LARGE lol, and the fries were a perfect mix of crispy and not crispy. The ladies that work there were super nice and even helped me to the truck with the food orders. I've driven by this place forever and I'm glad I finally stopped by today. This tiny hamburger shack is run by two incredibly sweet Cambodian ladies and they know how to make you feel welcome. Sure the burger isn't as tasty as In n Out's but if you're looking for a quick bite to eat without the hassle of waiting in a long, drive-thru line, this place is your best bet. I appreciate them using fresh ingredients for everything. From the patties, to their tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and pickles. Nothing tasted like it was leftover or like it was just sitting out. The fries were also surprisingly good, got a nice crispiness to it that most mom and pop places fail to get. A bonus is that they use seasoning salt; I absolutely loooove seasoning salt on my mom and pop fries. As for their drinks, they keep their cans of sodas in a nice lil fridge beside the pickup counter. And they have plenty of options to choose from. I was surprised to see they had underdogs like Sunkist and Squirt in there! Since it is meant to be a quick grab n go and they share the lot with the 76 gas station, there's minimal parking. I wasn't happy that an unhoused dude took up the last spot they had by parking his electric scooter there, so I had to put my emergencies on and park at a handicap spot, but that was no problem since the ladies work quickly to whip those burgers up.
