I finally tried Mr. Pete's Burgers, and overall, my experience was underwhelming. Since they don't have a drive-thru, I went inside to place our order. I arrived around 8 p.m. and walked into a completely empty restaurant, aside from one person waiting for their food. Service was good, the cashier was patient, polite, and informative while taking my order. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger combo, one small chili cheese fry, and a patty with no salt. My total came out to $26.52, which I initially thought was reasonable until the cashier later mentioned she'd accidentally forgotten to charge me for the patty. I reluctantly paid the additional $4.97. Once I received my full order, I headed to the car so we could eat. My boyfriend mentioned that the chili was bland and that his fries were soggy. When I opened my burger, I honestly couldn't tell if I'd ordered a salad or a burger as it was mostly lettuce. Between the awkward meat-to-veggie ratio and the overall lack of flavor, I felt like I would've been better off making my own burger at home lol. All in all, the prices seemed a bit steep; $26 for one combo and a small chili cheese fry feels excessive. The price doesn't match the quality, and unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this burger joint when there are much better options around. If you're in the area, you're better off heading across the street to Bixby Burger. read more

Mr. Pete's Burgers is a 2.5er. I came here because it was convenient. For a Friday night, it was pretty dead. I ordered a chicken club, a bacon cheeseburger, and some chili cheese fries - real grease joint stuff. The chicken club was very dry - the chicken, the bread, all of it. It could have stood for another slab of mayo and less time for the bread toasting. The bacon cheeseburger fared a little better, but there was no char to the patty which is what I'm looking for when I order from a grease joint. The lettuce, tomato, and onions were sad city. Had they been more crisp, it would have given the burger new life. But they were not, so sad city. Chili fries were goopy, but what did I expect? Long Beach has better grease joints. Is a classic greasy food joint I've been going here since I was probably 10 years old. Prices have gone up as it has everywhere else. The hamburger was a standard hamburger didn't really stand out, but it hits the spot if you just want a hamburger the stand out star here is the pastrami chili cheese fries that can really be a serving for a party of two. This is a perfect combination with a side of ranch dip. A place to enjoy all of your greasy food desires. You have to bust your own table so I can't really see much about the service. There's something about that red special sauce that makes them irresistible. The customer service is always top-notch, and parking is a breeze. The portion sizes are very fair and filling. Customer service was friendly and helpful. Food came out within 6-9 minutes of ordering! However, they taste very average. Nothing to remember but something you don't necessarily hate. It's not a bad thing, it's just not anything unique or different. My first time vising here. The food was great. But sad to find no cheese on my burger when I had pay and asked for cheese.

Coming here for the first time to try something new and got the steak sandwich and was very impressed by it. It was juicy and flavorful which is kind of shocking to me since steaks aren't easy to cook and I had my fair share or steakhouse making less then ideal steaks. I ordered a chicken salad. No pickles. No shell. What did I get? Pickles and shells. (allergic to pickles) Went back to tell them and the cook got mad, he took the plate and was rude and talked back and I asked him to repeat it just looked at me as if he was trying to tell me he was going to do something and he angrily took the shell bare hands and tossed it over, okay fine no problem i could live with the shell on. But then I saw pickles where in there and I told him about them too, and he grabbed them with his bare hands, threw them in the trash, closed the plate, and handed it over. How would I take the plate when I'm allergic to pickles? I told the cashier, who was also rude, to refund my money. They have the most tasty steak sandwiches i found anywhere in long beach. I really just come for that and sometimes the pastrami which is also very good. They are very generous with the the amount of steak they put on it! with tomatoes, lettuce and mayo. I never get the soda, they don't have a very good flavor list to pick from and usually it's not the best, usually a flat tasting soda so skip it. The crew who works here are nice and i never had any problems. They have a nice big parking lot they share with like ten other business. Food: Today we ordered 2 breakfast burritos (chorizo sub hashbrowns for beans & a bacon one with xtra crispy bacon & hashbrowns) and a hot chocolate. I really like the size of the burritos. I know it's blasphemy to say, but I don't care for huge burritos that cannot be finished in one sitting. Unless I'm sharing, they're really excessive. But, these burritos were the perfect size for one person. I felt full without being like I was going to burst! The only critique I have is that I don't think my burrito had beans which is not really a big deal (they were super busy). The chorizo was really tasty on its own. Today was my first time going to eat here in person with my family, I wasn't able to go up to order at the counter because I was sitting at the table to get my son situated in the high chair. As my husband was trying to ask for a menu, all i kept hearing from the guy taking orders, was just no after no. He wasn't letting get a menu, but luckily a girl was nice enough to offer us one. We wanted to order our son the kids pancake with eggs but the guy said they don't offer the kids pancake with the sides, only toast, which i thought was ridiculous but we got it anyways. The guy also told us we couldn't get refills on the orange juice, which was a bummer. My husband was being nice to the guy but the guy taking orders was just blatantly rude, he also was wearing airpods which shouldn't be allowed while working, it makes the business looks unprofessional. Besides the bad service, the food was great, the soft drinks machine didn't have enough syrup so most the drinks were kinda bland. The restaurant was nice and clean when we walked in, and plenty of seating. Sadly I didn't get the name of the guy working the counter, he was a light skinned hispanic guy. Solid portions, quality taste, food is always fresh, burger always hot, fries always crispy & well seasoned. Service is always prompt, there's always people in this restaurant, no drive thru so foot traffic only. This review is strictly for the pricing. I had been here twice before, possibly 2 years ago or around the peak of COVID. I remember I purchased a pastrami sandwich at the time and it was pretty good. I also ordered a breakfast platter, also good and priced well. I get it, inflation hit bad, it's understandable. The breakfast platter price went up, I understand the price of eggs is high so can't really whine too much about that. What I don't get is how did the price of a Pastrami sandwich double in price in 2 years? Maybe even more than double? Price 3 years ago? $9.00(reasonable). Price now? $19.50(way unreasonable!) this is the price for the sandwich, not including drink or fries. If you're rich, I guess it's no issue but for a lot of us, that is a lot of money. I guess it's more of a matter of how you wanna spend your money, I'm wise with my money, would have to be insane to spend that much on pastrami. read more

I have always gotten great service when I gone to Mr. Pete's, they have some of the best pastrami. Today was definitely not a good service day. I gave them a 1 star because when I ordered my usual pastrami sandwich super well done "burnt" as I like to call it, it was no where near being close to Eben well done. They said they would tell the cook and when I got my sandwich they said it was super well done. When I got home my sandwich was no where near that, the meat wasn't even crispy. When I called the restaurant to tell them the gentleman who answered the phone just gave me simple okay and blew me off like it is no big deal. If I am paying a good $10 for a pastrami sandwich and I order it a certain way, it should be made the way I order it. I think I need to take a break for a while from this place because of the service I received.
