I'll be honest, I don't come here as much as I should. But whenever I'm craving a Philly, this is the only place I come to This place is located in a private parking lot with up close parking and As soon as we walked in we were greeted by Carli. She was extra helpful and incredibly friendly You walk in and order at the counter. We ordered two cheesesteaks and some fries. They do have a lot of different varieties of cheesesteaks here. Including chicken Philly, some salads, a vegetarian Philly and etc. Unfortunately, when we got there they were already out of onion rings (we even got there pretty early) they must be really good, because while I was sitting here a bunch of people came in trying to order them. The fries were delicious though! You take a seat and then wait for your food to be called and you pick it up yourself. It took maybe about 12-15 minutes for everything. In the meantime we helped ourselves to the soda fountain This place actually does remind me of a small run of the mill cheesesteak place you'd find in Philly. Of course it's decked out in sports memorabilia (such as the eagles flags and flyers signs) They also have TVs with the games playing. When I came In they had a football game on that some people were watching. Someone even asked if Carli would turn up the volume and she came out and did. The food is delicious The prices aren't bad Service is great I'm a ranch girl, but I did grab some ketchup packets. They were from a brand called red gold ketchup with a cause. And on the packet it has an American flag and says Folds of honor. Which is a non-profit providing educational scholarships for families of fallen or disabled service members. Let me be clear, the food here is really good. The steak alone is worth the trip. Under different circumstances, I would be telling everyone I know to come here. But taste is only part of the equation. Food safety is not optional. During my visit, I noticed that the kitchen staff were handling bread, cheese, and cold ingredients throughout the entire sandwich-building process without wearing gloves. When I raised my concern, I was told gloves are not worn near the grill because they could melt. That explanation might make sense in isolation, but it does not account for everything happening away from the grill. I watched staff touch their faces and hair while actively handling food. That is not a minor oversight. That is a basic food hygiene failure. What makes this especially frustrating is that this is not the first time I have noticed this. This is a pattern, not a one-time lapse, and that tells me it is accepted practice rather than an isolated mistake. Great food means nothing if the handling practices put customers at risk. Skilled cooking and proper sanitation are not in conflict. Every professional kitchen can and should maintain both. I will not be returning unless there is a real and visible change in how food is handled. read more

90% bread 5% meat 5% everything else. For $21 I was underwhelmed by that sandwich. It's most franchises that have increased prices, lowered quality and portions. Great place for an authentic philly cheese steak sandwich, eating in, surrounded by a mom'n'pop atmosphere, even though it is a chain. Didn't realize how many Philly's Best sandwich shops there are in Southern California, 19 now per their website (which has a nice writeup about their history), with the first one being founded in Fountain Blue, CA in 1992 . Its popularity must be more than customers that are just Philadelphia transplants. Plenty of parking at this strip mall location, and the place was empty when we came past the lunch rush on a Friday afternoon. It's menu does contain both hot and cold sandwiches. It's a fast food set-up where you stand in-line to peruse the menu sign, then placing and paying for your order. There is a self-serve soda fountain with Coke products, so got a fountain soda ($2.99). The sandwiches are made after your order, so it took about 10 minutes for my name to be called. Went up to grab the sandwiches, and was offered hot peppers and pickles. Was really glad that I said 'Yes'. The thing about regional sandwiches, is they usually grew from local, inexpensive ingredients that could be supplied year round. I've learnt that bread from Amoroso Bakery in Philadelphia is a must for an authentic cheesesteak, and that it's a steak sandwich not a beef sandwich. It's supposed to use quality beef cut meant for steak (like ribeye)...this is very different than our favorite regional Chicago Italian beef, which intentionally uses the toughest cuts of beef, braised very slowly. -- Classic Cheesesteak ($11.49) - beef, bread, cheese. That's all my wife will eat on her hot (never cold) sandwich, and this is exactly what they provide here. -- Philly's Best ($12.49) - always got to get the sandwich that's named after the restaurant itself, right? This also didn't disappoint. The white american cheese had been melted to produce that sticky goo that binds the meat to the bread, to make the eating of the sandwich relatively clean. The cheese is a must here. And the 'steak' meat is very good. Plus the vinegary peppers and pickles helped cut through the richness of the sandwich. I loved this sandwich. -- Cheese fries ($4.99) - really well fried french fries, topped with a generous amount of cheese whiz. I would bet you could ask to replace the cheese on the sandwich with cheese whiz instead (which is a perfectly acceptable version of a cheesesteak). We devoured these. The place is decorated not nearly as much with Philadelphia merch as I was expecting. Maybe the original sandwich shop in Fountain Blue is much more obnoxious with their pride....my personal experience is that Philadelphia sports fans are not shy about their favorite teams, no matter if they are in enemy territory or not. Of course, this is a franchise location...wonder if as a franchise owner, you are REQUIRED to show Philly sports memorabilia on the walls? Was impressed with the value, considering the ingredients and the need to import some pieces from far away. Pretty confident that a sandwich with these ingredients from a non-chain restaurant would be at least 50% more, or be a lot smaller in size/volume. Heck, it compares very well with the cheesesteak sandwich from Jersey Mike's in terms of value, and this is a much better sandwich. read more

If you're avoiding carbs but craving a Philly Cheesesteak this is your place! They've got cheesesteak salads that totally satisfied my craving! It's off the traffic circle with plenty of parking. Staff were kind of grumpy but that seems to be the case for every Philly's Best so it's expected. Rest of my group got traditional Philly's with fries and were all happy. A cheesesteak without cheese? That is what happened to tonight's takeout order. We ordered chicken cheesesteaks online, but substituted provolone for white American cheese, in addition to grilled onions. Once we began eating our sandwiches, we discovered they were completely devoid of grilled onions, and there were only minimal mushrooms, no bell peppers, and no cheese. A call was made, but there was no answer (a message was left). We were hungry, so we ate the dry, cheese-less cheesesteak sandwiches. We have always enjoyed what we received from here, so we hope this was just a bad night for someone there and not a reduction in their quality control. read more

Cheesesteak with whiz and grilled onions was a delicious, hot, gooey mess on a soft, fresh roll. My only knock, it was a little pricey. Sandwich, drink and tip cost over $18. So I can't get one on the regular, but def a solid spot for an authentic Philly cheesesteak in Long Beach. read more

I thought the Philly sandwich with cheese wiz would be good but the cheese wiz is funky. Tastes chalky. The cheese fries were fries and two small containers of that cheese wiz and that's when I noticed that chalky taste. The skinny girl with pigtails was useless and had no customer skills. I asked the girl at the front counter what the best was and she said everybody gets the philly's best cheesesteak with sweet peppers & mushroom so i went with that! Oh yes it was tasty and soft bread. Delicious imo. I tell you the cheesesteak was good but i've never had a real cheesesteak from philly, so I can't compare but i was happy with my meal. It was my first time trying this sandwich place. I was working at this shopping mall and needed a fast lunch. I thought I would try this place called Philly's Best, located in the San Dimas marketplace. I placed an order for a classic Philly cheese steak sandwich. I had a choice of white American, provolone, or chiz whiz. I went with the provolone and added grilled onions. The sandwich cost about $12.00. The size is about 8in. with average meat and cheese on it. The meat was cooked very nicely and had flavor. The bread is what put this sandwich over the top. It was very soft and held the meat and cheese perfectly inside the bread. There was no mess, only a delicious bite after bite. The customer service was just okay. Overall, I give this place a 3 star . I still enjoy Jersey Mike's cheese steak sandwiches better. Enjoy my friends. read more

Came to Philly's Best to buy a cheese steak sandwich for tonight's LA Dodgers game. Bought cheesesteak wit (fried onions).  The cheesesteak has good flavor, the rolls are shipped in from Philly. They are from Amoroso's Baking Company (Started in1904) that has been legendary for its classic line of Italian Hearth-Baked Bread and Rolls. They're roll are considered the best for Philly cheese steaks ,the roll holds up well, but does not overpower the meat, and there was just the right amount of onionsWhen I went to order the cheesesteak, the staff was friendly and helpful, in spite of it being the lunch hour rush. I asked them to put the meat and onions in a container. They then wrapped the roll separately I heat it up later in my air fryer @ game time. I do the same with the French fry's. I enjoy my Philly's Best Cheesesteak (comes with sauteed mushrooms and sweet peppers) with Wiz, grilled onions, raw onions and mayo. It comes together nicely with a savory flavor cut slightly by the sweetness of the peppers. The bread is soft and easy to eat. And the overall size of the sandwich is large and filling. Pair it with their crispy fries and a ranch dipping sauce (I don't know if it's house made, but it's a good one). They have other variations of customizable sandwiches and I'm confident enough in their quality to say that, whatever your preference, you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. I've been to this Philly's Best a bunch of times in the past. It's my go to when i'm craving a cheesesteak sandwich. Well this time when I went I ordered my usual Philly Best Cheesesteak Sandwich and I noticed the meat looked and tasted different. It was wasn't as good as before. I'm not sure if there is a new owner or maybe a different supplier of their meat. Anyways it didn't taste as good. I also noticed the floors of the restaurant looked like they haven't been swept or mopped in days or weeks, very dirty. Hopefully they shape up soon. read more
