Burger with bacon

The best Filipino burgers I have ever had. They are gourmet made to order. It was jjuicy, savory, loaded with flavor, bursting with flavors in every bite. The bun is a Pan de Sol. Very soft. And light. The burgers are a 1/4 pounder with cheese. The service was very fast and friendly. The ambiance is like a backyard BBQ at your families house. I will be definitely coming back for more. I am a strong supporter for pop up tents and start up businesses. I recommend for you to give them a try if you are in Long Beach. You will not be disappointed.

Never have I ever seen a pandesal burger around here! So clever. Really enjoyed it. It was quite big with plenty of meat and the pandesal was so light and fluffy. There was something about the taste of the meat that was so nostalgic. I guess iykyk.

All the cakes are prebaked and packaged, but one can come in to have it decorated with custom lettering while you wait. While we waited, we also ordered two other things that we all love from here: their shanghai style egg rolls (25 pieces for $21) and their miki bihon pancit (medium, enough to feed a family, for $21). We've tried a lot of different version from different places all over, and have come to the conclusion that we like the version at Gemmae's, the best (as long as for my wife, they skip adding patis to the pancit). They also have a turo turo steam table here. The yellow curry chicken caught my eye, so got a small container of that. It was solid...first time eating yellow curry (tasted just like the japanese style) at a Filipino restaurant.

For drinks I recommend the Electric Daisy. The crushed Sichuan Peppercorns on the rim leaves an enjoyable, LIGHT, numbing sensation that makes this guava based cocktail feel even more refreshing! Easy to have multiple in one setting, so be careful For eats, be sure to try the Swordfish Katsu - perfectly breaded and adorned with pan-seared peaches, kale and aoli. Union is intentional from interior design to its menu, with a staff that is eager and ready to make sure you have the best experience. Shoutout to Sarah on staff, she felt like visiting a friend in their new city as she truly showed us around as if we've known her for years. In my heart, I initially wanted to gate-keep this spot but I truly want everyone to experience this gem, hidden in the Zaferia neighborhood of good ole Long Beach! If Manuela (in Hauser + Wirth DTLA) had a baby, Union would be its down-to earth first born. Excited to try some of the art classes and wellness offerings also located in the Compound and check out new exhibits over the coming months.

Overall this is a great grocery store if you're looking you staple Filipino ingredients and decent food to fill you up while shopping. It was not too busy when we went and the store is clean. From the hot bar we got a combo #2, which comes with one scoop of rice, one scoop of pancit, and two entrees. We got kare kare and a chicken barbecue skewer. The pancit is just okay and the kare kare was tender and flavorful, but the skewer was probably the best one that I would come back for. And we got turon and it was very delicious, would also get again, but it would be better heated up.

Rarely, I purchased hot food from a supermarket, especially Filipino food. I am a Filipino chef and this day I needed specific food that every Filipino restaurant serves. Pansit, pork, adobo, barbecue, chicken, skewers, and Shanghai lumpia. Of course they had these items, maybe it was too late in the day, however, if they followed, serve safe rules this food would've been OK. The pansit was spoiled you could smell it before you even picked up the box they were serving in. The chicken skewers were burnt, and still she offered to pack them up for me. Although the pork adobo was in the heating plate, you could tell it wasn't heated at the right temperature and there were only a few pieces and she was gonna pack it up as a full order. That's a no-no. By this time, I didn't even wanna ask about the lumpia. Somebody please check their food how dare them offer rancid, spoiled food. It's very comical because I look like your average white girl, but I'm actually quite fluent in Tagalog since my father was from the Philippines. It's easy to think that we don't understand what you're saying, but I understood everything.
