Decided to give the chicken sandwich a try and it did not disappoint. The chicken was crisp, and the flavor was delicious. The fries were also well seasoned. Would consider coming back to try additional food options available.
While my younger brother was visiting from Oklahoma, we searched for a good place to have lunch. We decided to have Jay Birds at the Long Beach Exchange inside the Hangar which is a great spot for delicious, flavorful chicken dishes. Their chicken is crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with flavor. From juicy fried chicken and crispy chicken sandwiches to tasty chicken tenders, there's something for every chicken lover. The portions are satisfying, the food is fresh, and the bold flavors make Jay Birds a place worth trying. This location is clean and the staff is friendly. There is ample parking available as well as many other eateries and retail stores. I recommend this restaurant. Save your appetite as the portions are hearty!
On 7/27 tried out this place because I heard good things about them. I showed up at opening at 11am staff was happy and eager to help. Its in a food court so you sit where you can find a spot. Place was really clean. I ordered the 2 strip meal with fries and an extra strip with medium hotness level. Man the strips are big i could have eaten 2 and been fine! They were crunchy, juicy and delicious. Fries were seasoned well and crunchy. I'll be coming back again!
Heard a lot about the chicken sandwiches at Jay birds so I decided to give this place a try. Honestly, the food was pretty mediocre. Maybe it was an off day but my general notes: - chicken was juicy, but the flavor was lacking depth - bread was stale - cole slaw was okay - fries were freshly made but also lacked seasoning The seating arrangements in the area are also pretty poor as they are located in a food hall. Ample parking to get there which is nice at least. Overall, just not a superb experience that I would've expected based on the hype Jay Birds was getting on socials. Disappointed but will try to go again on a different day to see if it was just an off day.
Located inside the Hangar, there are a bunch of food options to choose from and if you're craving a solid chicken sandwich, Jay Bird's Chicken will hit the spot. They churn out orders pretty quickly and this place seems to be one of the more popular spots inside the food hall. I got the traditional chicken sandwich with fries and I was pretty happy. The chicken was moist and juicy. not as crispy as I would've liked but it was fine. The fries were a little on the soggy side but that's probably because of the to-go box packaging. All in all, a solid spot for a chicken sandwich.
The chicken sandwich was okay. Juicy yet somehow the breading lacked depth. Decent size. But for a place that specializes in chicken, I'd expect a more unique flavor. Or just more flavor in general. The french fries were generic best. The only flavor came from the seasoning which was not evenly distributed. There were a couple other places in the food hall with better fries.
First time here and it was delicious! Made fresh to order and able to customize. I got the hot and honestly, wasn't as hot as I was expecting. Next time I'll get hotter. Fries were crinkly and delicious too. Service was super nice and quick! There's plenty of seating available (during the week at least) both inside and out.
My son's favorite. They have good portions. Chicken is flavorful. Service is quick and the place is chill esp that it's at The Hanger LBX.
One of my favorite chicken sandwiches in town because of the spice levels being perfect to what I am craving. We usually go spicy hot and it never misses. The side sauce is always great as well and pair great with the fries. Service is definitely the longest out of all the places to eat and the line is always long around lunch time. Ambiance is little too crowded and busy almost all the time. Definitely aim for non peak hours to enjoy.

And that chicken breast was juicy with every bite Located inside the LBC Hanger, you can either have your meal at the counter/bar or join the others in the central food court dining area...or if the weather permits, enjoy the outdoor seating I just happen to pick the perfect time as I was able to get in and out fairly quickly. Thanks to the staff for the friendly service.

Mac and Cheese was relatively tasteless, it was more so there for texture. Fries were seasoned pretty well and fairly crispy. Portion size is pretty good, as I felt quite full after the meal. I ordered medium and it was not spicy in my opinion, and I am pretty good with spice. After tax the sandwich was maybe $17 give or take Rating: Overall, I'd give this place a 4.5/10. Relatively harmless and mid experience. Food was not special, and didn't really taste like anything. The price of $17 post tax brings the score down below mid. Probably would not come back but the meal was filling at least

I'll keep this review short and sweet. The food here is LEGIT! Everything is made fresh right in front of you. They season the chicken. They season the fries. The food came out hot, spicy, and flavorful! Prices are reasonable and you get generous portions. I was very impressed very impressed with how juicy the chicken filet was, they cooked it to perfection! Highly recommend you get a side of ranch and comeback sauce to go along with the food. Next time I want to try the big sexy sauce and probably will go for the hot level to really bring some kick and spice to my tastebuds! Lastly, the service here was great and there is plenty of seating inside The Hangar and also outside.

There's nothing like eating a Nashville hot chicken at Jay Bird's inside of the Hangar (Long Beach, California). i've came here twice already. Let me tell you, this is a very good spot if you want quick casual food, and that's tasty. During my 1st visit.... I ordered the chicken sandwich (mild heat) and fries... with extra comeback sauce aside. I must say, this gonna be the tastiest chicken sandwich I've tasted. Chicken is cooked perfectly: With the extra sauce, I was able to enjoy it alot more. For the 2nd visit, mac daddy and fries (chicken sandwich with mac and cheese). I normally don't eat chicken sandwich with mac and cheese, but it looks real good. Sure enough, it was delicious. Service is quick and great. Overall.... if you good food inside the hangar, this is your best bet. read more
Jay Birds is a restaurant located in the LBX Hanger food hall. Having been to a previous location that had closed, I was excited to enjoy their food once more. I ordered the Blazin fries, which came with a mountain of fries loaded with Mac n cheese, buffalo sauce, and chicken tender bits. It was tasty but very heavy. They do have water cups available for self-serve fills. Service was friendly but slower than expected. It did take a while for my order to come out. Overall, I enjoyed my meal at Jay Bird's and I'll be back to try other menu items in the future. read more

The chicken was delicious! The Smokey ketchup was also yummy. Mac and cheese was good but personally could have used a touch of salt. Fries weren't anything special, could have been a little crispier. Overall, it was good and I'd try the sandwich if I'm back in town! read more

OMG!!! Tried Jay Birds chicken for the first time today and I'm OBSESSED!!!! The portions are huge so I have left overs!! The only down side is the limited seating but luckily I was able to find some empty chairs and squeezed into a table. Another downside, I'm not really a fine of lemonade or tea (which are the only drink options) so I walked around to find another drink of my liking. I would maybe even recommend bringing your own drink but I know that's not necessary since lemonade and tea are very popular and most people like it. read more

Yum!!! I got the blazin fries and I would definitely recommend. I loved the mild and the mac is great with the fries and chicken. I prefer this to crimson coward ! Its in a indoor mall type place with 10 other food shops so you can come with your family and all get your cravings satisfied! read more

Man this place use to be fire crispy fries crispy chicken with great flavor I have not been here for a year or two but told everyone in Long Beach this is where is at....... Not anymore raw fries not even crispy chicken is soggy Idn what happened but I use to compare this place to howlin rays now ......... I think id prefer a spicy chicken sandwich from jack and the box. There use to be such a long line and I got excited there was no line but then realized the Korean place ..... the sandwich place all had long lines welp another one that was good has died upsetting but spend your money elsewhere its fast food average the employees are to busy eating the food and making waffles to eat welp no longer coming back here to bulgogi burrito or Ike's I go read more

Great food but don't underestimate the spice, it will get ya! Jaybird delivers your typical Nashville chicken sammies with some extra heat to it. You have the options to go with a sandwich or the chicken itself and you get to choose its spice level. Spice level ranges from no spice, mild, medium, hot, very hot, and very very hot (I forgot the name they called it). Every meal comes with fries and I made the smart decision to get very spicy on an empty stomach. Very delicious sammie, BUT I WAS DYING. I almost got the most spiciest one too. Thankfully I had some sense but most my sense was out the window. On the side I got their mac n cheese, which I do really love. It's rich and creamy and white cheddar, white a lot of places don't really go that route for mac n cheese. The service was good. Nothing much to say about it. It's an in and out type of establishment. The employees were kind though and that's all that really matters. The layout of the place is located in LBX so the ambiance of it is already perfect because you can just take the food to the outdoor area and enjoy your meal while you suffer in silence (or out loud like me). I'd take the food togo if you're going to get it spicy and you don't want to publicly embarass yourself. But great place for a chicken sammie! read more

Fast and friendly service. I wasn't sure what to eat for lunch and decided to walk around the Hanger to see what the other patrons were eating. Most tables had boxes from Jay Bird's, so I decided to try them (was a great decision). Got some crispy tenders on top of a slice of toast with two little waffles on the side. Finally got a chance to visit The Hanger at LBX and after a few go-rounds, I decided on Jay Bird's Chicken because I typically love Nashville Hot Chicken. Jay Bird's chicken sandwich did not disappoint! I opted for the Baby Jay which included 4 oz. of Chicken Breast that was topped with their infamous "Comeback Sauce" as well as dill pickles on a brioche bun. I ordered my sandwich "mild" and was shocked when there was basically no kick at all! I also ordered a side of coleslaw and was wildly disappointed by the taste and realized my Baby Jay sandwich also came with coleslaw which must have been a mistake. If it wasn't a mistake, then I wish the employee would have told me before (or after) I ordered the side - particularly because I even asked her about the taste! I wish there was more mayo in the coleslaw. I did not order any sauces because they all seemed to cost extra $$$. Anyway, I thought Jay Bird's was decent and would order from here again. I love that there are so many options in The Hanger. I also liked that there was seating both inside and outside. I also obviously loved realizing there was a check in offer - I was able to get a free order of waffles and they seriously hit the spot. Thank you Jay Bird's! See you again soon! read more

Oh man the I thought the Blazin Fries were SOOO good! I love the blend of chicken, mac and cheese, fries, and sauce. It was a lot of food so I took half home and it was just as amazing the next day. The chicken sandwich was good as well, but I liked the fries more. Plenty of seating, you just have to look around. Parking was easy since it's a whole plaza. read more

I've had Jay Bird's before when Nashville hot chicken was first getting really popular and I definitely remember enjoying their chicken sandwich. We recently went back and tried their Blazin fries and they were sooo good!! Plus only about $9 and they're huge! My partner and I shared them and I was stuffed. The fries are crinkle cut topped with mac n' cheese, a chopped tender (we got medium spice), and comeback sauce. At first I thought it'd be overkill with the mac n' cheese on top but it works and gives it the oozy cheese flavor. Almost half way through we realized we forgot to ask for pickles! This really elevated the dish (in my opinion) and they give them for free. I would definitely order again! read more

Jay Birds at the Hangar at LBX is the only location I've been to so far and it's always good food! Came on my lunch break and found a parking spot right out in front which is rare.. Parking at LBX can be hard, especially when it's busy, particularly during lunch. It's usually takes a few min to find a space. Jay Birds Nashville hot chicken sandwich spice levels range from plain jay to fire. I will never be a fire person lol so mild-medium is perfect for me. Sometimes the hubby does medium, or even hot. On my last visit I went with Mild since I was on my work break. Since I was Trying to be healthy instead of the fries I got side of coleslaw. But to be honest, I should have gotten the fries because the coleslaw was just ok, in fact it was pretty soggy . The meal, including my Arnold Palmer( which was the perfect blend and came with free refills) cost a little over $20. The wait time was very short maybe around 5 min max, so to get my food which was pretty fast which I appreciated being on my break. And for checking in VIA yelp I received a free waffle reward which I'm saving for next time! read more

Yes we do have reaper pepper. It’s dried and in powder form. We don’t serve the whole fresh pepper. Thank you
Are there any non-breaded options for gluten-sensitive individuals?
No. All of the chicken is battered.
Can we just order the waffles without the chicken or it has to be chicken and waffles?
Yes u may order the waffles separately as a side dish...
Is the chicken halal/zabihah?
Our chicken is all natural. Free of steroids or any hormones. It is however not Halal

Do they run out of chicken sandwich?
I’ve been there at least 10 times, and they’ve always had chicken sandwiches. It’s MUCH better than Chick fil A, and undoubtedly better than Popeyes. Best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had.
Does the sandwich or 3 tenders come with a side or is it seperate?
Both come with a side of your choice. Fries, Mac n cheese, coleslaw or potato salad.
