The service by far exceeded all expectations, owner makes you feel like you are a part of the family. He goes above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied. Is this the hilarious sense of humor others write about? It was hot in the dining area. There were flies. We asked about eating on the shady (east) side of the building, and the owner said, "do you really want me to move your table outside?" No, don't bother. We ate in the hot inside with the flies. There was a large chalkboard menu with the different burgers and sandwiches listed, but no prices. We told the owner we came in for the burger special, but we didn't know exactly what the special was. He said he'd take care of us. When I ordered, he told me the sides were white chili and rice-a-roni salad. Again, not knowing what the special was, I ordered a burger and a side and a drink. My partner ordered a burger, but the owner told him he could have a pork chop substituted for a burger patty. That sounded good, so he ordered the pork chop, not knowing the price. We ended up with 2 sandwiches (1 burger, 1 pork chop sandwich), 2 tiny sides, and 2 drinks. When we got the bill, it was over $35.00. Really? Yes, really. We were upsold. The bill showed the total but didn't break down what we actually ordered. The burger was great. The pork chop sandwich was great. The tiny Costco-sized sides were great. But at the time we got the bill, we were stunned. This is not a transparent way to do business. We learned - the next time a restaurant doesn't show any of their prices, we walk out.
