I've seen so many reviews about this the past year, I finally took the time to check out the hype. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking and a parking lot. I didn't have any issues. Seating: Inside and outside seating. Great for pairs or groups of four. Feels: It's on a Golf Course off PCH and close to CSULB but generally hidden. The spot itself is nothing flashy, just your casual convenient store and restaurant. Your entertainment is watching the golf course. Great place for a low-key food adventure and if you want to get away from the city hustle and bustle. FOOD: The Dirty (Recommend) Dave's famous burger with a chipotle kick to it. The presentation is a good old fashion grilled smashed burger. The magic was in the beef, caramelized and juicy. Delicious sweet bacon jam with a hint of spice, this is what really makes it unique. Touched with a slice of cheese for a gooey feeling. Served with white bean chili, it added a more savory flavor a simply delicious burger. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Dave was cool! Laid back dude. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. The hype is relatively real. Reasonable price, simple selection, and a calming vibe. There are plenty of burger places in LB or LA County in general but this has its own style without being too flashy. For all you burger fanatics, this is a spot I'm sure you'll enjoy. Service was amazing. Greeted by the funniest and realest owner ever. We love the vibe - eating in your friend's backyard. You get to see the burgers be made fresh on the hot grill. I got the dirty girl and it satisfied every craving I had. My friends were surprised by how good it was too. Will definitely come here again. read more

Seriously great burger! I had the bacon jam burger and the Italian pasta salad. Both were delicious. Imagine you have a friend who's husband makes the BEST burger and you are always ecstatic when you get the invite. It's that type of vibe! Tried this place out on a whim when we were in neighborhood via yelp. Hidden on side of a golf course. Cute location. Simple. Peaceful. Great outdoor seating. They make burgers right on patio when ordered. We were offered side and thought they were included...they weren't. Knocked only a 1/2 star for that. One was tasty, the other not our favorite but good. No take out available we didn't care. I felt like it was a hidden get away you find while on vacation. Good juicy burgers fresh brioche buns, (2), 2 sides, 2 sodas $41. (Wasn't handed reciept not sure about the charges) Little pricey but we were full. Will probably return with the new knowledge. This is a small place, shared with the golf course. Small menu, but fabulous burgers. No fries, but potato chips are available. We had the "threesome" a selection of 3 popular burgers and on-tap root beer. Dined on the patio overlooking the golf course. The burgers are hand crafted and delicious. We also sampled the corn salad and chicken white chili. Service was good and they checked in with us a couple of times. read more

This place is so easy to miss for newbies but not locals. If it weren't for Yelp I probably would never have noticed it. When you're driving down PCH, you see a small golf course field nestled between two condo/apartment complexes. What you don't see on the backside is the small clubhouse and deck with an outdoor grille. The clubhouse is small and has some tables to eat inside. Food: Burgers 5/5. Yummy homemade flavors, bread is light and fluffy, meat crumbly and tasty. It's fresh because they don't make it 'til you order it. No fries, only chips at the time we went, but it was enough. Service: 5/5. Staff was nice and service fast. Facility: 4/5 - small, only a few indoor tables. Outside patio tables overlooking the somewhat dry golf course. Don't let the fact that it's inside the golf shop fool you, this place is legit. They're super warm and welcoming, the service is better than some fancy restaurants. The dirty burger was ridiculous, absolutely stupid. Easily the best burger in the area. read more

I was looking at yelp trying to find a place to eat lunch at. To my surprise I found this place. When I pulled into the parking lot, I thought I might've been at the wrong place. Nope, I was here. I walked in and ordered the Ortega burger. I can honestly say this place is a hidden gem. Everything is simple and delicious. The ambiance is chill as you get to overlook the golf course. The service was good and quick. Everything went well together in the burger and it wasn't super hard to eat. Sometimes you order a burger and they stack it to a point it's hard to eat, not this place. I would definitely come back again. I don't have any complaints. Although next time I'm going to ask if I can get a double patty. Thanks for the delicious food. read more

I had the Dirty Burger & Jam Burger... also Macaroni Salad Macaroni Salad -Awesome Dirty Burger - Very Good Jam Burger - Good. I was hoping for a little more Jam to give it that Wow!!! Crack was awesome! The Thai burger was juicy and full of flavor and surprisingly different. The Dirty was grilled to perfection, with soft brioche buns and smokey chipotle sauce. And don't get me started on the sides-creamy chicken chili, corn salsa, apple pie baked beans, and pineapple cole slaw didn't disappoint! Dave was so accommodating. attentIve, and generous. I read the Eater LA article (title "LA's New Hidden Burger Spot Grills Right on a Public Golf Course") and decided to drive down to Long Beach for lunch. It was well worth the drive from Los Angeles. This place is on a deck off a golf course restaurant. The gentleman who grills is very nice and even checked in with me to ask how my burger was despite being super busy. I found the burger very filling and the flavor of the beef in combination with the jam sauce was very good. I really enjoyed it. The bacon jam burger was about $15 and change. The ambiance is quite nice. You have the coastal breeze that cools things down and you are right next to a golf course. It is a very relaxed vibe which I liked. Also, there is plenty of free parking in the parking lot so that is also a plus. I would definitely go back. I'm glad I made the drive down. I wish the proprietor much success with his burger business. read more

This small business can cook up a mean burger. I could probably have eaten about 10 of them and enjoyed each one. The owner is very nice and friendly. He will make you whatever you want. Wow, if it weren't for Craig, we would have never got to try this hidden gem! The owner, David, has so much passion in what he does. We ordered the Dirty Burger and the Pulled Pork burger and both were very tasty. We got a bag of chips with our meal and a water bottle. David came over to chat with us and told us about his place and his ideas. He let us try his new beer which was pretty yummy too. We also were able to try out his root beer floats and that was good too. This place is a hidden so not many people know it's there so if you are in the area, go see David!!! Crack has been in my must see list for a while now, we just finally had the right alignment of circumstances to make it work. We were greeted by the owner at the door. The "restaurant" is located adjacent to the pro shop in a golf course in along beach, bixby village I think. He explained the options and we tried the one with bacon jam, someone else got the green Chile version. These are all smash burgers done outside on their patio on a black stone grill. They were super tasty. I think this place deserves the hype associated with it. read more

Burgers were great! Probably the best I've ever had. The 3 I got were good but definitely liked the Ortega most. Never had a burger that got more flavorful as I worked my way through it. My husband got the Tuesday special which was a smash burger with fries and a drink for $15.99. He got a margarita as his drink so he got a great deal. The burger was a little small but he ate the other half of my giant sandwich so it worked out. The meatloaf sandwich had a delicious crispy sourdough bread with a lot of melted cheese. I added some ranch as I thought it was a bit dry but overall it was good. It came with a big helping of fries as well and I got the garlic fries. They were very garlicky but so good with the ranch. My parents got the Cobb salad and the turkey pop pie. My mom didn't love the pop pie, I think because it wasn't really a pie- just a dish with biscuits on top but the Cobb salad was really hearty with a lot of toppings and it filled them up plenty. They ended up taking most of the pop pie to go. This place has a lot of great deals so make sure you check them out. I think Thursday's kids eat free so it can get a little crazy then but the menu is great as there is so much to choose from so everyone can get what they want!
