We have been searching for a good chicken fried steak since my mother-in-law moved here a month ago. Like, trying a new place every other night searching. Tonight, we finally found it! And the rest of the family found food they liked too. The server, Lynessia, was awesome! She brought us extra gravy, extra butter, more delicious rolls, ice cream for the peach cobbler on the side... all with a fun attitude. I asked her what nights she works, because we're definitely sitting where she'll be our server (hope she's ok with that!). My only concern is that it was super quiet because apparently a Tastes of Round Rock event was going on elsewhere. I hope next time, isn't super loud and crowded. read more

Had the chicken fried steak special with mash potatoes and sauteed mushrooms. The chicken fried steak was tasty but a little bready because I had a couple of bites that were just breading. The mash was good, but the mushrooms were a little salty. The service was very attentive and professional. The overall appearance of the restaurant was clean and well maintained. Cotton Patch Cafe is now a far cry from what they used to be. Poor service and substandard food preparation led to our being there over an hour and a half for two salads. Two other tables around us fared no better and were there longer that we were. This rating is more about the food preparation for to-go orders. I love eating here but the last two takeouts have left me disappointed. Yesterday, I ordered cinnamon apples and cornbread with my dinner. Dash delivers the food ahead of time (awesome!) I sit down to eat and the cinnamon apples are in the small 1oz cup (literally, there was one and half slice of apple). Meanwhile the condiment comes in the bigger (3oz?) cup .... what? Then I open the bag for cornbread and all I see is crumbled pieces :( I am sure the restaurant would not serve on a plate in house, so why give it to the to-go orders. Second time this has happened. Used door dash to order two chicken fried steaks from cotton patch. They failed to include the gravy which ruined the meal. Talk to manager try to shift some of the blame to door dash. Then said he would bring the gravy when he got off in 30 minutes but then texted he couldn't make it and was going to contact door dash. Nothing happened. I would definitely not recommend people to use either one. Manager said would have to go through door dash for any credit. But they claim it restaurants responsiblilty read more

Cotton patch on 2920 near Gosling. We have 3 appetizers and they were all delicious. The fried green tomatoes were thick cut and so flavorful. The chips are served warm with the spinach artichoke dip. Our waitress Isabella was awesome. She was very sweet and attentive. read more

The food was merely ok but there are plenty of superior alternatives that also have better service. This location needs bussers or at the very least hosts/hostesses. I may have caught you on an off-night where you were short-staffed but as far as I could tell during my most recent visit, your waitstaff are doing all of those tasks, and are forced to give sub par service to their tables in the meantime. Our waiter had to tend to the host stand 8 or so times during our visit as well as clean/sweep a few tables top to bottom, barely giving him enough time to give basic service to his own tables, which seemed to be scattered about the entire restaurant rather than concentrated in a specific section. He was never idly standing around doing nothing, but he forgot at least 2 things we had asked of him. It's pretty obvious why. read more

When they're not chatting at the bar, gossiping in the bathroom, they're chatting at the host stand, happy to see you leave without so much as a 'thank you for coming'. I would say that every other time we have ordered, they have got our order incorrect and we have had to return to the restaurant to get missing items or have something corrected. It's ridiculous!! We have eaten at this place a few times in the past and it seems to get worse all the time. I wanted to go because they have chicken and dumplings on the menu and I was in the mood for comfort food. My husband didn't want to go, but I said let's love them one more try. Big mistake. First of all we were seated in the far back next so an exit door with it being cold outside. I noticed there was a booth in a closer area where we could have sat. They were out of the chicken and dumplings that I wanted. Both of us ended ordering the fried shrimp basket with onions rings. We also had a side of their fried mushrooms. The fried mushrooms were mediocre. They were crispy on the outside, but kind of doughy on the inside and not seasoned well. The shrimp were small and just okay. Their onion rings were the worst I've ever had. They were cut really big and they were undercooked and just nasty. The good was not the best and the service was just fair. The bill was $40 which is kind of high for 2 people. We're never going back there again. read more

I will admit I have been in Round Rock but for less then a month and have visited CPC twice now. My first experience was a 5 star hands down best service and food. Tonight 2/20/20, we arrived a bit before 7pm. The hostess was very pre occupied with what looks to be her boyfriend hanging out talking with her. After we were finally seated, it took 15 min. For the young male server to come to our table. He was very pleasant even though it seemed the restaurant was very short staffed. During our wait for our food, I watched the young hostess and the young male continue their conversation. He was none to shy about laying over the host stand and then when he decided to leave, he felt the need to flash gang signs to the amusement of the hostess. Food arrived- highly disappointed! I was sure I would receive the same great meal I had just days prior! Not this time.... poorly cooked and presentation was sad. One last thought- a large group of 16 had come in to dine. The group has to help the staff arrange the tables so they could be seated....this is just not good customer service. Training for staff- when a guest says thank you for the server brining your order, don't say "no problem " it should always be "my pleasure". I will wait to visit CPC again for a long while in hopes things can be corrected. read more

We frequent the Cotton Patch in San Angelo, TX. The Cotton Patch Manager on duty this evening was Lauren and our waiter this evening was Jacob P. We had a few questions about items on the menu and Jacob ensured we received correct information concerning our orders. Both Lauren and Jacob were extremely friendly and presented an excellent representation of the Cotton Patch family! A real quirk for my husband is being left without a drink while it's being refilled. Jacob was great at catching the level of my husband's drink and made sure his drinking glass never left our sight by bringing a fresh glass to refill the drink when needed. As my husband is from New York, this courtesy was greatly appreciated! Please pass on to Jacob P and Lauren the positive feedback in this review! This location does not participate in online ordering or curb side pick up. I woke up my sleeping toddler and drug her in so I could quickly eat a decent meal before being in the sun for the rest of the day. It took 15-20 minutes for my waiter to show her face (a waiter did apologize for the delay after about 10min and took my drink order and provided rolls). Keep in mind, there were only 4 other tables there - and I counted at least 6 waiters - they were extremely slow. I ordered the salmon Cesar salad - no croutons with a side of lemons. It took another 15min to get my food, no lemons and the salmon looked perfectly grilled on the outside BUT I couldn't pull it apart to mix in my salad - it was legit raw. I waved another waiter down after waiting a few minutes and placed it on a plate and showed her it looked like shiny pink gel on the inside. THEY PUT IT IN THE MICROWAVE AND GAVE IT BACK!!! And if that wasn't bad enough, the salad portion was sooo small, had brown pieces and wasn't crispy. For a $15 salad you would expect MUCH MORE. I'm beyond disappointed. read more

On Thursday I had the worst sit down experience at the Mansfield TX store. Grilled chicken was not fully cooked, no seasoning and looked nothing like prior meals. Corn was in a mini bowl half the size of usual. Fries were half cooked. Banana cream pie had no bananas, whipped cream or caramel sauce on top. 6 weeks ago I walked out after no one would wait on us. Food and service is excellent, as usual. HOWEVER, mask compliance is abysmal! I spoke to the manager about this when we went about 2 weeks ago. He assured us that the mask issue would be addressed (some staff were wearing masks on 1 ear only -- running the to go orders; others were waiting on customers with their nose showing). I spoke to the manager again this trip (I'm told she was a shift manager) and she stated she would speak to the staff. However, I continued to see wait staff and other continuing to not cover their noses. I guess they're not serious about this requirement. When leaving, I spoke to someone who identified himself as the assistant GM. I re-iterated my concerns. I said he would take care of the situation. I'm not sure I can believe this after this experience. Guess we'll have to find somewhere else to eat. Too bad. Food and service is excellent. read more

This place exceeded our expectations. It's a small local restaurant that's modestly decorated but very clean. The food is surprisingly inexpensive as the $10 chicken fried steak was excellent. Our child's plate was mac 'n cheese, corn, and a small portion of a very good cinnamon apples. He cleaned his plate. I think if you set your expectations appropriately, you will be pleasantly surprised. Wonderful first visit to this chain. Very good service and good food. Allison L. was our server and was incredibile! Very attentive and checked on use multiple times while the dining room was packed. Food was very good, when you expect southern comfort food and quick service. We started with the 'Chicken Fried Bacon' and suggest everyone try it. I was not a huge of the baked squash, but not saying it was bad. Shrimp and catfish was filling.
