Really good chicken fried steak, fast service, full bar, come here often

I've had Cotton Patch catered to our office 10 plus times in the past year and the food is GREAT but the salad is always soaking WET! The Ranch is runny. read more

Favorite place love their chicken fried steak, chicken fingers, catfish and tilapia! Some things can be to salty, stay away from the baked squash they leave the skin on. read more

Omg loves the chicken fried bacon! It's so yummy. Also ordered the chicken fried pork to-go and was great too only the menu said it came with warm apples but they forgot to put them in the bag. Please be careful next time! It's always nice to have sweets after eats! Thx cotton patch! read more

Love this place and their food. The service can be slow at times (they get pretty busy), but it's worth the wait!

Well...We pass this place all the time when we go to HEB.....We went here today for the first time and it was just okay. We went for lunch. The prices were actually much higher than planned. The menu ranges nice enough for everyone, I guess...The fish tacos did not taste as if they were made of talapia as advertised. My fiancé wanted steamed squash and we ended up with some kind of casserole slop. The queso was simple. The salsa was fresh. The Arnold Palmers we ordered were perfection, but something is missing from this place and our service was underwhelming. I was a Cotton Patch virgin until today, and even though they have a rad special on Mondays, I won't be tapping this Patch again....Also, the parking lot sucked today. I realize it is Halloween, but the people who can't park are scarier than your worst nightmare.... read more

This is really a review of the service and not the food. I found the attitude and attention to service to be completely lacking today, with the exception of the service manager who I spoke with before leaving. The young lady who sat us seemed bored, our waiter took over 10 minutes to even acknowledge us then wanted to argue that iced tea is supposed to be cloudy and that's just how they do it. The other waitress who brought our appetizer, just placed it on top of my friend's menu, even though she was moving the menu to make room. After our waiter took our order we didn't see him again until we'd finished eating, even though he poked his head out of the kitchen and made eye contact with me several times. The same girl who brought the appetizer brought our meal and again, just placed the plates on the edge of the table and walked off. While we were eating, our waiter walked by several times to see to other customers, but never stopped to see how we were. When my glass was empty and it was clear that we were finished, he finally came back and asked it everything was ok. Uh, yeah, that would be a big no. The food was average - nothing to race back to - but the service was horrible. The manager was very friendly and showed appropriate concern, but said that she couldn't do anything about our bill (we didn't ask, but it sure would have been nice to have at least our appetizer comped). She did say she would speak to all the staff involved. I sure hope so. read more

I went there on Sunday night with a couple of friends. The meatloaf there was DELICIOUS! It was a great portion size and very flavorful. I will definately be back for it again. I had steamed veggies and broccoli as my sides and they too, were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. I got to try a piece of the chicken fried chicken-again-- YUMMY!!! The sweet potato fries were really really good as well. I can't say anything bad about this place at all. I loved it. read more

If you have a sense of humor then go here. Ordered fried green tomatoes which came out with undercooked dough; exchanged for fried pickles that were not great either. Hubby had a Dos Equis and asked for lime but they were all out. Ordered burgers that came on burnt buns and fries were cold and salty. Waitress did her best but won't be back anytime soon. Also wear a parka and bring your own TP place was freezing and ladies room only had paper towels in stalls! read more

This flower mound location is horrible! Don't go! The to go food is awful and cold. The menu stated sweet corn bread, but sorry!!! No sweet corn bread for months!! Why still on the menu???? read more

The Cotton Patch on AW Grimes and Highway 79 in Round Rock is the absolute slowest and worst service in the state. While attending a training several of us went for lunch there on Monday, August 3rd. We split into two groups so the waitstaff would have an easier time taking orders and we thought it would expedite our food orders. Not to be. When the wait person came to take drink orders we told her we knew what we wanted to order, so she took our food order at the same time she took the drink orders. The drinks came in a timely manner. Then we waited and waited and waited. We asked if we could go ahead and pay our tab so we could leave after eating without having to wait. She brought our tickets, took our money and still we waited. When it was obvious we were going to be late getting back to the training we asked if we could have to go boxes to put the food into when it came. The to go boxes came and one tray of food came. That was enough food for all but two of the party. We waited. I spoke with a manager, after being told they were too busy, and he apologized. He did not give a reason for the delay but did come back with a free meal coupon for all the table. I asked simply if I could have the food I had ordered that day since it had not been delivered to the table yet for two of us. Then they brought part of the order for me and the other order (a salad). The food brought to me was the entree without any sides. At this point I asked to have my money refunded, waitress leaves and goes to speak to someone about my request. At this point, we are about 20 minutes late leaving and the people riding with me are being made even later, so I decide that I'll go without the food or the money I paid, after all, the coupon for a free meal makes it all even out, right? No so, I discover that the coupon has to be signed by a manager and there are no signatures on the coupons! Avoid this place at all costs during the 11-3:00 time frame. We were there for TWO HOURS and did not get all of the order! They may be fine during other times of the day but this has been an issue once before and I thought it was a fluke, now I know it is the way they do business there. They have plenty of waitstaff, however, many of them were just standing around visiting while we were waiting. This chain has some really good service at other sites, but this one on AW Grimes and HWY 79 is the Worst!!! read more

Best place to eat for comfort food!! Service is outstanding! Food is fresh and always great!!!

We dropped by tonight so I could get a chicken-fried steak--something this Cotton Patch does very well! I got the "right-sized" version, and still had leftovers. The corn was good, the broccoli was still crispy, but in a good way, and my dining companion enjoyed his pork chops. His only quibble was that he got two very thin pork chops instead of one thicker chop. The service here is consistently good--very important to us. Tonight our server was Kari and she was great. A consistent chicken-fried steak, close to my house--a great combo! As the other reviewers have noted, this is not a fancy place. But if you go in for home cooked food, you'll be satisfied. read more

This food is greasy garbage, right down to the overcooked veggies. I visited an East Texas location many times when I lived there and was happy to see one here. Wow, night and day. Everything was swimming in grease. I had to use napkins to soak up the grease that hadn't already been absorbed by my chicken fried steak (which, of course, turned the crust to mush and ruined it). My husband's catfish was pounded so thin there was more breading than fish. It had a strong fishy aroma and taste, and it was too salty to eat. If you don't happen to get rolls fresh out of the oven, they're hardened to an inedible degree. Our waitress was nice, but not even heaven can help you when it comes to the food. I'm baffled at all these good reviews. Hard to find good food out here in the suburbs; must be a cultural thing. read more

this place was so gross. the service was eh, pretty sure it was her first day. but still, she literally seemed like she had no idea what she was doing, fried mushroom appitizer tasted like old grease. EW. i had a steak with shrimp, over seasoned, over cooked, tough to eat. didnt even want a box. never going back, at least not any time soon. read more

We decided to go to this restaurant for our lunch break during a training. There were 7 at our table and we sat for almost 50 minutes before a few people started getting their food. We had to be back to our training by 1:00 but we were still waiting for the rest of the table to get their food at that time. I had to get up myself and refill our waters. I went to the bar to get take out bags because none of us had time to eat. We asked to talk to the manager but he was too busy. After 15 min., the manager came over to our table. The manager only apologized for the slow food service and then brought us coupons. One of the people in our party didn't even receive the order she paid for but we had to leave because we were already late. This was this most horrible experience any of us had ever had at a restaurant. None of us will be back!! read more

The food is typIcally very good. I must say that I feel the staff might seem like the people from the movie waiting. Not sure if that's a good thiNg. read more

The food was very fresh and tasty, The service was quick and friendly. My wife had the chicken fried chicken and loved it. I had the turkey melt and it was great. My son had the burger and enjoyed it very much. Simple but good food, great combination! read more

The meal is fine. I would also receive fresh 2 rolls and 1 cornbread muffin with my dinner. HOWEVER, THE LAST 5 ORDERS 1 ROLL & NO MUFFIN WAS INCLUDED WITH MY DINNER. Which is fine if they're 'cutting back' on the Rolls & Muffin that comes with the meal. HOWEVER, please put a fresh Roll. The last several "to go" orders. They have given me 1 HARD and stale roll with my dinner. Hmmm??? read more

Terrible! Horrible! Do not go here. Second time I've tried this place during take out only. First time the order was wrong. Dogs loved it! Second time got 2 chicken fried steaks mashed potatoes, ordered extra gravy didn't get like first order, but they were happy to take my money anyway. Chips and Queso, chips were so old, dogs wouldn't eat. Everything so dry, mashed potatoes were literally like a golf ball. No way these are real or at least made this week. Too bad, I will never go back. I would have given them at least a 4 before the take out only. But they deserve a zero now. And my 3 dogs agree! read more

I have been here waiting 30 minutes for rolls. I think my waitress ate them (ill post a pic of her later). My 4yr old daughter is like "Dad why is it taking so long for my food ". ............ Still waiting for my rolls and btw we ordered our food about 20 minutes ago. This service at this place sucks i mean it really sucks stinky fat assholes. Now I know why it's not crowded it must be the service. Our waitress just told me after 35 minutes that it will be six minutes before they are ready and the food just arrived. I'm quite sure my waitress ate them that is why they are making more.. The food has arrived but no rolls yet; if i finish my food before the rolls arrive i will not be happy at all. I just can't believe we have not received our rolls yet and btw its going in 45 minutes since we been here. Alright we finally got the rolls eating them for dessert now. I will never return to this place. read more

I will probably go back and try some other things just because everything on the menu looked so good. However, if my second visit is as bad as the horrible mush of crap meatloaf I just had there, I will not return. I have had better meatloaf in school cafeteria. Also, I was hoping for some unique fried okra but got the frozen crap that i can get at the grocery store. Will try again but so far I am extremely unimpressed. read more

Just had lunch. Terrible service. Will not be returning. Had to ask for drink refills, no dishes cleared after meal, had to ask several times to different people for condiments. Food quality mediocre at best. Felt no hospitality, and it wasn't even busy. Disappointed. read more

I like this place. I enjoy their specials and I'm a fan of the Shiner fish basket. The chicken fried steak isn't half bad either. But the real reason to hit this place is the dessert. Oh, how I loooooove the peach cobbler and the coconut cream pie. Heck, I'd go just for the dessert if the truth be told. I've been a few times and I'd go back. read more

We went to the location in Denton, TX. It was not busy. There were plenty of staff. We waited at the host station and were ignored. Three staff looked right at us and did not greet us or interact with us in any way. "Maybe it is self seating?" we thought. We sat ourselves. The table was dirty. The second table, dirty. We waited. Ignored. The elderly couple that came in after us. Ignored. Sat themselves. Ignored. I surveyed the restaurant. Most of the people eating looked unhappy and were trying to get staff attention. We left without eating after 21 minutes (i got a text when we first came in). On the way to my truck, I see three staff on the side of the building smoking and chatting. They were there when we drove up. Still there 20 minutes later when we were leaving. They did not acknowledge us either. Bad management and bad staff. Can't tell you about the food bc we were refused service. read more

I honestly don't know how this place stays open for business and I don't know how they have an average of three stars. My wife and I moved here a month ago and we went here to eat on Day 3. We had high hopes and in the first 5 mins after we arrived we thought this place could be our go-to for dining out...but then it all went downhill from there. The food was just o.k., they screwed up my order, my wife wanted to order a second drink...never happened. While we were sitting there waiting for the check, we saw two other couples (not together, from two different tables) get up and leave because they had waited over an hour to get their food. One of the couples got up and left just as their food was arriving at their table. Since then, I've been driving for DoorDash and I've been there twice to pick up orders. The first time wasn't TOO bad, I had to wait about 5 minutes for the food. The second time (about an hour ago), I got there and they didn't even know there was an order waiting to be prepared. They told me it would be 5 minutes and I believed them because it was a very small order...20 minutes later the order still was not ready. I will never accept another DoorDash order for this place and my wife and I will never eat there again. Also, bear in mind, both the time that we ate there and then tonight, they were not even busy! Tonight there were probably 4 or 5 tables seated in the whole place. TERRIBLE!!! read more

I like this place. The atmosphere reminds me some places my friends and I would frequent when I lived in the L.A. area. We started with the Bacon Cheese Fries, they were okay. I had the Strawberry Pecan Salad, that was really good. My son had the Blue Cheese Burger, which looked pretty good and according to him it was . My husband had the Shiner Fish and Fries Basket, which of course I had to try. We both agree the fish was quite tasty! For my 4 yr old, I ordered him the kids' Hamburger Steak with Cheese and he almost finished it all. That's saying something cause I can't get that boy to eat a meal only snacking all day. Our waitress was very friendly and even though the kitchen was backed up, she handled the pressure with ease. She didn't sweat it so neither did we. read more

This is pretty much typical old-fashioned grandma style food. It's bland and fairly uninspired. With that said, I know quite a few folks who love this type of food. For myself, I was unimpressed. Prices were a little higher than I'd like, service was average, and that's about it. I wouldn't go there again, unfortunately. Although if you aren't a fan of crazy flavors and such, give it a try. read more

The service here is wonderful! Every time my husband and I come here, no matter which server we get, they are super friendly and knowledgeable of their menu. My husband is the adventurous one and will try something different every time! And he loves it. I am in love with their fried pickles and the way they cook their green beans is so flavorful. It makes my mouth water just thinking about them. But for me I haven't really found that one main dish that makes me want to order it again and again. Everything I order tastes good. But it doesn't have that wow factor. So solid 4 stars for me. read more

If you love down home southern cooking this is the place for you! My go to choices are either chicken fried chicken or chicken fried steak! You can't beat their drink specials and the service is fantastic! Though my girlfriend had the Cobb salad with lite ranch and was not a fan. Her go to is the grilled chicken off the lite menu usually so lesson learned! read more

We've visited here on many occasions and consistently enjoyed the great hospitality, food, and prices. Sometimes a short wait to be seated after Sunday services, but always worth it. So far have only done takeout, they present the plates to you before packing Them in the bags, nice touch. We call our order ahead and it is always ready, The side entrance for takeout makes it easy to get in and out in no time at all. Love most everything we have tried, the only thing I am not fond of is the Mashed potatoes, they have garlic in them, like garlic in most other foods, Just not mashed potatoes, maybe they could offer them also plain, no garlic. Other than that everything else has been great. The fried mushrooms are one Of our favorites as well as the pies. read more
