Absolutely the worst food I've ever been served in a restaurant! I took one bite of the mashed potatoes and country fried chicken and I was done. Disgusting! The service wasn't great either. One of our sides was wrong. No apology or acknowledgement of the mistake. When the server asked how everything was and I told him the chicken was terrible, his response was: "What would you like me to do?" Again, no apology or acknowledgement that the customer didn't receive what was expected. Lastly, the place is filthy. The booth we sat in was in the bar area and the filth between the cushions on the seat is gross to say the least. We used to enjoy this restaurant, but it is truly awful. Waitress is friendliesh but when I ordered my steak without their overbearing house seasoning due to a digestive disorder that is a medical disability she refused to season it instead with salt and pepper and stated more than once that the kitchen does not have sale or pepper and that if I don't want the house seasoning (that gives me GI distress and illness that they won't season it at all and that I have salt and pepper at the table and reiterated that there is no salt or pepper in the kitchen. Ambience is ok minus the fact they are upset that I have a medical condition that would lead to hospitalization of they used the seasoning they wanted. Would not recommend if you have dietary restrictions and don't want to be hospitalized and still want basic seasoning. A chain restaurant should be aware of the ADA and Dietary restrictions. Went to cheddars in Austin today, mopac and William cannon. Food was horrible! Fried food tasted like month old oil. Steak was cut open and looked like it was totally raw with some kind of mucas looking tendon in it. Talked to the manager, she was worthless, never even came back over to us. Two meals were never even eaten. Got a $10 credit off an $80 check which most everyone didn't eat. Last but not least, everyone got sick after we got home! This is my go-to place for comfort food in large portions at very reasonable prices. The staff is as cool and low-key as the ambience. If you have reluctance to eat alone in restaurants, come enjoy your "recharge" time here. Ask for a comfy booth in the bar area. The bartenders make you feel seen and heard but will leave you to your meal and check on you at just the right times. Pay on a screen at the table and waive good-bye. Perfect. Now on the other hand, if you have a party of five? Ten? 20? These guys are ready for that too! On the opposite side from the bar (thank god LOL!) they can make a table big enough for your birthday, graduation, or team win. I'm surprised more people aren't talking about the complimentary honey butter croissants! So soft, so warm, so buttery, and slightly sweet. These are so amazing! The Wisconsin cheese bites are also a favorite appetizer of mine. Hot breaded cheese that you get to dip into ranch, you really can't go wrong. And all of the entrees were not only delicious, but had decently big servings! The chicken pot pie had a super flaky and buttery crust. And the filling was more liquid than I expected but I liked that more. Because it tasted more like a soup rather than just eating cream. The country fried steak was also delicious (and huge). The breading was so crispy even despite the gravy. And it wasn't too thick or heavy. The only thing I thought was kind of weird was that they put white gravy on the mashed potatoes. straight to the point, the food that I ordered was lousy, I ordered the white grilled fish. It was the most horrendous fish that I've ever eaten in my life. It was so bad I told the waitress that I did not want it. I didn't have enough time to order anything else I said don't charge me for the fish. The bar area was sticky to put the arms down on I didn't like that .the gravy was on top of the potatoes mashed potatoes, I ordered it gravy on the side , lady brought out the baked potato but not the side of broccoli, had to go back and fix that , took over 10 min on the phone clock to get a check out ticket and a to go cup and 2 to go boxes, go the ticket and then she didn't even say anything and left and I was paying with the phone and I was waiting for her to get back and it took another 10 min before got it back and the ticket to sing bc she said the manager had to look at my card and then she was helping other people and I had to wait 20 min before I got it all back and I couldn't leave and she had to get my card again for the second time she said bc her computer timed out she said , I don't understand why took so slow of service today and I needed my card my phone back . Just made me nervous thinking she changed 2 times . And then she walked off after that so I did the ticket and left . She didn't even say thanks for coming in or if we had good dinner or even check on the meal . Bc I had to keep fixing it bc she kept forgetting things . Most chain restaurants are similar of course, but I really enjoyed my food at this Cheddar's. Everything was fresh and delicious. The honey butter croissants are fresh and the staff was friendly. This is my second time coming here, and it was amazing. The restaurant is always so clean and chill, I could just walk around in it for a couple minutes and it be enough for me to leave a tip to the crew. I ordered the lemon pepper chicken, and it was so good, however it did not do me well in the restroom . We had the sweetest waitress whenever we came here this last time. My husband and I shared the two chicken fried chicken entree. It was a huge portion. We got a side salad with one of their housemade dressings. The dressing was phenomenal. The only thing I found disappointing was the baked potato but it was just bland. We were seated in a closed section and waited quite some time before receiving service. When the server finally came, they acted as though helping us was an inconvenience. This is my first time visiting and I had a great experience! There is a great bar with huge selection of drinks and at such a reasonable price. All the food was very reasonable price. We stopped in later in the evening, party of three. Seated right away. The booth was nice and spacious. Our server, Gabriel, came right over. Super polite and had a great personality. Out of our party two out of three had not been to a Cheddars previously. The menu has a good bit of variety without being overwhelming. I did see gluten free options and a few others that would work with dietary restraints. We ordered the Buffalo wrapper with fries. Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, and Cajun shrimp Alfredo. All had good portions, great flavor. For an appetizer we got the spinach artichoke dip with salsa and chips. Really flavorful. Overall, great experience. The one thing to note there was a large party with children in the center of the restaurant and the acoustics made it a bit shrill at times. Pretty sure that's just situational though. As you sit at a table and place an order, your server brings you hot croissant covered with melted butter and condensed milk and oh boy.. you can tell it's high calories, but oh yeah, so good, just melts in your mouth! We ordered Chicken tenders & Fried shrimps platter. For fried shrimps, you can choose either grilled or fried with coconut. We also got a steak, we picked fried coconut shrimps mashed potato for side dish. I liked coconut shrimps, but kinda heavy, so I think I would get grilled shrimps instead next time. My friends got steak, hamburger and they were all satisfied with what they got. However, the fact that they've gone downhill with their service and their quality of food speaks volumes. I get that a lot has changed in the service, industry and restaurants after Covid. However, with giving them the benefit of the doubt a lot of other restaurants have worked out fine. I will say whoever now supplies, cheddars, or owns the establishment now needs to really rethink how their restaurant is run. The quality has gone downhill in terms of service. Restaurants are busy on Friday nights yes, that's not an excuse to provide poor service. I think the biggest reason that I am annoyed with the service or lack there of is because. I got a gift card for this place and now it's useless because the food was completely inedible. We got a glass of wine and the Texas cheese, fries, and two orders of the chicken tenders with shrimp .
