So the atmosphere is kind of run down. Servers paid attention to our orders. But I'm a fan of their food. I just had their fried clams. I am originally from New England and love fresh fried clams. These were obviously frozen. But I have to say that these were some of the better "frozen" fried clams I've had. They weren't too rubbery. My other favorite here is the Cod. Yesterday I was in the area so I thought I'd give this place a try after probably 19 years since my last LJS experience in Oklahoma. Relived my childhood and didn't expect it to be so delicious. I grew up visiting the location by Capital Plaza. I have not had LJS in over a decade and decided to test this location out. I was pleasantly impressed with the quality of the food. I had the fish and chicken plate that I shared with my toddler. She very much enjoyed the chicken and fries. I enjoyed the fish and coleslaw. The hush puppies were nostalgic to me. This has to be the best fast food place of all time. I was so bummed when they closed the one in Houston near my house, and when I so happened to make a roadtrip to Austin, I ran by this place and I have to get it. No matter what, 100% definitely going to be there. The people are polite and they work quickly and efficently. I came during a busy lunch hour and they were throwing fish and hushpuppies around left and right. My goodness this place brings back so many memories and I am glad they still taste the same even years after I haven't had them in a while. This visit to Long John Silvers is my first visit in about 15 years. My wife and I had two different platters. The fish and shrimp were good. The piece of chicken tasted drying overcooked. The shrimp cocktail sauce was unremarkable and the tartar sauce tasted just like mayonnaise no cream of tartar, citric acid. The macaroni and cheese with the crumbles was hot and delicious. The waffle fries were cold. The overall value is good. I would try the platters again, but not at this unit. The bathrooms were filthy and the counter personnel didn't seem friendly. TLDR: Some items were hot, some were cold. Not impressive for a place that specializes in deep-fried everything. As another user put it, "Long John Silvers is a dying breed of restaurants that serve fried fish to go." That said, you have to give them credit for enduring and out-lasting a whole bunch of their competitors over the years. Heck, the decor still looks like it's right out of the 70's, and that's saying something. Order two platters; the usual diamond-shaped pollock fillets along with fries and hushpuppies, and the rectangular cod fillets with fries and hushpuppies. The cod was hot and delicious. Everything else was lukewarm or even COLD. We were there at 10:45am on a day when they opened at 10:30. The only way they could have cold items is if they cooked them last night, or someone came in at 7am to cook them and left them out. Either way, pretty unappealing. Like I said, when hot the food's fine. But when your only product is deep-fried fill-in-the-blank, you can't get away with serving cold food. That's something to throw back, not serve. This place scores a 2 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. I have not been to a long John silver's in probably 20 years. For some reason I got a craving today.. So I ordered through Uber eats and got fish shrimp and clams.. I'll start with the fish. It was way overcooked.. The crusting was almost too hard to bite through. And there was little to no fish inside at all.. The shrimp I'd probably give it a 3 it was it was all right but not good.. The clams were good. I also got the corn as a side and it tasted like they put some kind of chemical in it inedible The fries were probably good when they were fresh buthey were fresh but by the time I got them they were cold and fries reheated in the microwave are just disgusting. There must be something in the water because this was the best experience I've had at this location. Service: This was one of the best service I've received at this location. I was greeted while walking through the door, my order was taking with a smile, and areas were being cleaned during extra time of no customers. Food: Again, there must be something in the water because the food was great. Everything was cooked to order besides my green beans, but they were still respectable. My fish was hot, my fries were hot, and my shrimp were hot. Overall: I give them 4 stars because there is always room for improvement. These were the first hush puppies I had growing up so I love these lil cute things. The crunchy batter they use for the fish and chicken ...good. What do they put in there? I used to eat the batter pieces on the bottom of the fish/chicken. I am pretty good at snapping photos of my food, but I ate it all so quickly there was not anything to take a photo of. To be honest, when I think about LJS I think about the time I used to come here for dinner with my dad and brother. I enjoyed ringing the bell on my way out to let them know I enjoyed myself. I love their fish. I have always loved their fish! But, I've noticed that as so many other quickie food places have gone down in quality, LJS has actually improved. The people who work there are so pleasant, and the fish is always piping hot and crispy...so good. Yesterday I took my elderly Mom, and as I got her up out of the booth I told her "Grab someone's hand, Mom." meaning my husband's hand or our friend who was with us. So, honestly, fast food when well executed usually gets a solid three star rating since you got what you were craving and no headaches or mess (unless you're a complete fanatic for a place like In-n-Out or Whataburger or whatever and then stars fall from the heavens). This Long John Silver's gets all three stars for giving all of the above and then another solid star for having some of the most impressive customer service I have seen in a fast food restaurant -- hands down. The place was packed when we got there. And there was only one person at the register. I thought, "Oh no. Here we go." But we moved very quickly up the line where a professional, young employee named Antonio was super-efficient, calm and polite getting our three orders in and double checking each one. While I waited for my order I watched the kitchen quickly feed out to the folks serving the drive-thru and dining room with incredibly fast, quality-restaurant efficiency. Cook called out the order number and checked what was on the plate with the order on her screen as it was handed over the counter. The shift boss looked at her screen, called out the order number and compared the order on her screen to what was on the plate before handing it to the server. The server then, AGAIN, called out the order number and compared what was on her screen to what was on the plates she was handed. And it all moved so efficiently the customer rush passed and everyone was happily eating. The food was piping hot and LJS delicious. I'm a long-time and loyal LJS lover, so it is a huge disappointment that this location could not simply do the ONE THING that facilitates our relationship. Maybe this location is a franchise shop, and thus somehow able to exercise discretion over its hours of operation, but a company store should be required to remain open during all of its posted hours. As a customer, I depend upon your declaration that you will be open until 10 pm on a Monday evening. If you close before 9 pm, while workers remain at work and customers continue dining inside, and I show up at 8:50 pm, you offend me if you do not allow me to enter and patronize your shop - and you are possibly violating LJS requirements by behaving this way. Allow me to suggest that I cannot be the only person who might, in the future, decide to never patronize my old fave ever again, anywhere. read more

Well here is one of those fast food places no one seems to care about, not fancy, not expensive no reviews yet, so guess what I stopped by today to give it a try. Bust my buttons again, it surprised me. Long John Silvers a fast food fish/chicken place sitting in the mist of 5 other restaurants waiting for somebody to come by and eat. I ordered the fish/chicken combo, it came with fries and 2 hush puppies and a large drink all for you guessed it just $5.61. Wow that is cheap in todays rising food cost. I was tickled pink or is that red, the fish was light and lightly breaded and was good, the chicken was breaded as well but I was surprised I was expecting a dried up piece of chicken. I was wrong it was good and moist, I liked it a lot. (Don't know if it would be that way every time.). The hush puppies were good, fires not for me.
